I'm in LOVE with gen 3 Spectra, got her the other day bc my dad gave me money for passing my exams. I thought I was going to wait a lot longer before repainting her, buuut... I got thinking about gen 1 Spectra's design again and I just. Love her eyes so much. She's so genuinely spooky and I wanted to make my gen 3 a bit more mature and spooky too.

I'm feeling sultry but sad but maybe she would consider killing you if it would provide a moments reprieve from the monotony of purgatory but maybe she's just curious and wants to observe you. :]

Odette at the Lake (July 2022)

When you make a doll inspired by a character from a story about a lake, it stands to reason that it would be cool to photograph her with a lake!

I had a bunch of doll photos from summer of 2022 that I just hadn’t found the time or energy to clean up, so I went through some of them last night. More photos under the cut!

I particularly love this shot of her from behind. A couple years ago, I had a different photo of a doll from behind that someone mistook as a photo of a real person, and that was such a compliment. Even though it’d be hard to mistake that for most of my dolls, it’s made me appreciate capturing them from behind more.

Odette is just such a surreal doll, I love the way she came out. She’s one of my favorites from this past year, and I truly hope one day I can work my way up to designing Siegfried to go with her.

some Piter scribblings from this spring-summer, as i was & still trying to figure out how he should look + a WIP of my current icon, and the fancy little boots i made for him using a Monster High doll boot as a base, because i am planning to turn my design into an ooak doll as well (eventually), by modifying a MH gen1 Spectra

I may end up making a separate readmore post, where I elaborate on what's in store in my head for him, but that'll have to wait.

Swan Lake is an absolutely beautiful ballet, but boy is it sad. When I started working on the fairytale aspect of Equinox, I wanted to give the story a somewhat happier ending. So instead of dying because her lover professed his feelings to the wrong girl, Odette's curse shifted into something new. Instead of being just a swan, she is now also part of the enchanted lake, being partially made of water and retaining some of her swan features while in human form. As a result, when Siegfried came to try and make amends, the lake reacted to her strong emotions and whisked the two of them away, to another world far beyond their own, where they would be safe from Rothbart and free to live happily together.

The two would go on to form the Swan Song Ballet, and in the coming years, Odette would be responsible for commissioning a craftsman to create Loraine, and eventually, she'd have to say goodbye when her star traded places with Auran. Odette is kind of a maternal figure to both of them. She's a bit stern, sometimes comes off as cold, but her heart is warm and soft, much like her feathers. I really love how she came out, she was an adventure to make in doll form!
