Okay so I just finished these pants and I HAD to share them because I'm so damn proud of how perfectly they came together. 😍 I started with a pattern for fall-front breeches that I made years ago, but since I'm designing with much later 18th C styles in mind, I converted them to button-fly breeches. Not an easy task, mind you. They close with three buttons at the front, and I snuck some elastic into the rear waistband to ensure a snug fit on the actor with a little wiggle room. The leg cuffs are drawstrung with satin ribbon for A) The perfect fit and B) The cutest lil bows you ever did see. 🎀 I'll be making two more pairs of these pants in the next few days, and I plan to take some actual process pictures as I go. This lovely pair belongs to our leading zombie gentleman. See them in action in La Zombiata, opening February 9th! From the 1930’s to 1950’s, Serge Lifar revitalized the Paris Opéra Ballet, working with musicians and painters to create many ballets. Milhaud and Derain, Aubert and Touchagues, Ibert and Florès, Aubin and Oudot, Leleu and Brayer. All of them reunited at Centre National du costume de scène for the “Habiller l’Opéra” exhibition #centrenationalducostumedescene #opera #operacostume #costumedopera #ballet #costumeexhibition #operadeparis #parisoperaballet #350ansoperaparis #sergelifar #moulins #moulinstourisme #watercolor #aquarelle #carnetdevoyage #fredericlere (at Centre National du Costume de Scène | CNCS) https://www.instagram.com/p/B2jIUsoI5in/?igshid=aaggvhmzgjgw

Look the beautiful work of the maestro himself! Marco Jerez showing the details of how to do Al Aire embroidery. This embroidery technique is extremely versatile as it gives you all the freedom to create: both in a dramatic expression as well as in a delicate way. It’s all up to you! We can’t wait until we can invite him to The Netherlands again. Hopefully soon. • Al Aire Embroidery • • • • • #alaireembroidery #hautecouture #embroideryclass #hautecoutureclasses #embroideryskills #fashionembroidery #saskiaterwelle #marcojerez #dutchcoutureacademy #theatrecostumes #operacostumes #balletcostumes #weddingdress2020 #weddingdressdesign #trouwjurk #bruidsjurk #borduurvideo #singermachine #trapnaaimachine #embroideryvideo (at Dutch Couture Academy) https://www.instagram.com/p/B-eVRZMCtET/?igshid=14b112m5rnerw

Have you watched #madamabutterfly ? This is one of the most popular and most dear to me. The first time a troupe went to my state I couldn't afford to watch and had to wait 3 more years to be able to watch it. Now I am blessed to be part of the #operacostuming team @winteroperastl Design by @laurenthecostumesmithbearden What a great opening night 🌙 👌 #furisode #puccini #historicsewing #kimono #madamebutterfly #costurahistorica #figurinista #costumedesign #hairanzuchelli (at St. Louis, Missouri) https://www.instagram.com/p/CbkakMPAoxu/?utm_medium=tumblr
