I've been going non-stop with all the Minecraft promotion, and I'll just say right now that the feedback from that movie is crazy, and I'm loving it. I loved getting to play Garrett and being so over-the-top; it was a break from some of the things I normally do. I deserve a bit of a break, though, right? Especially since I'm going to start promoting Chief of War soon as well, and that schedule is going to be just as intense as Minecraft, if not more intense. But yeah, I deserve a break, and since I deserve a break, I should get to choose where I take my break, right? Because right now I have two teenagers telling me where they want to go on my break and vetoing every place I suggest to go on my break because it seems boring to them. It's my break, which means it should be my choice, right? Or am I wrong and my teenagers are right? Don't say they're right, though, they'll be smug then. @hfrpstarters

More mentally ill characters in sci-fi, in fantasy, in romance and fun and high stakes situations and everything in between, as the heroes, as complex individuals, multifaceted and treated with respect, not having their needs and differences ignored or skirted around but, again, not having them be their only trait or plot point/entire premise! Please, I'm begging, on my hands and knees, there's a place for these topics and characters in realistic, reflective and literary fiction, yeah, but there's also a place in those magical, mystical, action packed, mysterious and alien worlds, give them to ME

Despite Ash having no affinity with parties, the Wexley however loves them. Having avoided as many as he could in his years here, as many as his friends would let him anyways, guess it's much harder to avoid them once you're actually stuck in the building with literally nowhere to go. And it felt rude to not be here when it's a celebration for someone's birthday, especially Mr Wexley's. He knows he's not fun at parties and didn't want to bring it down for anyone. So instead, he found himself offering Charlie his help, not wanting her working any harder than she already is with not many people knowing of her situation, now standing behind the bar serving people drinks and watching the party go by from the sidelines.

Perhaps there was something about seeing families, friends, lovers, reunited since Spring hit, now altogether in one place here with a heartfelt warmth that filled the room, that an unfounded weight sank in his chest. Or perhaps it's the barrier of a bar counter and physical separation that made it more apparent of what he avoided feeling, but damn, he didn't like admitting that he felt lonely for the first time in a long time, and there was a guilt in feeling that, considering how lucky he's been. Ash was leaning back against the wall behind the bar, lost in his thoughts with a beer in his hand (knowing he's not in the right headspace for anything stronger) as his eyes glazed over the scenes passing by him at the bar and atrium until he realized someone had come up to him while he was spacing out, "-sorry, what can I get you?"

okay so. the jist of Sylas' backstory is:

they grew up inside a closed community of magical scholars where their mother was the primary herbalist and potions expert. as part of their training to follow in her footsteps, Sylas was sent out of their commune on a quest to find either a new practical plant, or a new location where certain legendary plants grow, and not permitted to return until complete.

during that quest, Sylas fell on some hard times and ended up in the lawless territory called Wanderland. they stumbled their way through a handful of different jobs, but eventually found a knack for bounty hunting.

at some point during this time, they met a young woman named Adrienne, who they spent some time with. it was only when they were preparing to go their separate ways that Sylas learned that woman was actually the princess of a nearby country called Serenity.

years later, they would meet up again when Adrienne came looking for them. again, they spent a few days together, before her handlers found her to bring her home. during their trek out of Wanderland, though, her convoy was attacked and the princess was kidnapped for ransom.

Sylas, feeling it was their fault she was in that dangerous no-man's land in the first place, set out to save her. and they did! hooray! except, in the process, they collapsed a mine that the bad guy was using as a lair. which caused a landslide. which ended up completely destroying a village at the foot of the mountain, killing a significant amount of civilians.

Sylas should have been executed. but Princess Adrienne begged and pleaded with her father to spare them, as they had saved her life and (supposedly) taken out this big crime boss who had been a threat to her country. though Sylas was never allowed to see the princess again, they were granted a special, conditional release.

they would spend the rest of their life living in a house on that mountain, overlooking the remnants of the village they destroyed. but as an almost comical twist of fate, they would find several rare plants and herbs, including one said only to exist in legend, growing around that mountainscape.

after a couple years and some very passionate pleas with their parole officers, Sylas was permitted to open a small shop in the nearby city of Cadence, where they were previously allowed to visit once a month for supplies and socialization. by now, they're permitted to travel freely between their home and Cadence and explore the natural land nearby, but not allowed to leave the area under any circumstances.

they live with a small Scottish terrier named Toto who seems to have some mysterious properties of their own, but that's another post

wishlist: bhaal temple era iago meeting someone on a rare excursion outside of the temple. having Someone else in their life they can interact with that isnt their brother. finally having an excuse to go outside more than once every few months. trying desperately to live this double life and pretend they are NOT in a murder cult so as to not ruin these little escapades. the light and life coming back to their eyes a little more every time they're outside. returning to the temple getting a little harder every time they have to go back. that lust for life coming back to them prematurely, as opposed to after they've already escaped in their main verse. having to deal with this growing desire to Live vs their loyalty to their brother and their fear of leaving. trying to keep it secret from the bhaalists and especially Puck (sorry puck..). an eventual reveal of their cultist hannah montana life. the epic highs and lows... please does anyone see the vision can anyone hear me
