I'm unsure whether or not you're actually looking for input on having the cuppatrouble blog reopened, but I kind of like having it all on this blog? I feel like without it being here It would slip my mind 😭Which is a shame because i do love the content, my brain is just in a permanent state of forgetting and it's helpful for it to be in the same place as the rest of the content. As for having to follow a second blog in order to get content, i've made it a habit to reblog every post to my main for archive purposes anyway (at least, that's what I did in the past)! So even if you decide you don't want to follow a sideblog, you'll still be able to just. keep on following this blog and still seeing the content <:)

The biggest draw for putting it on a sideblog would probably be having separate inbox pages so the asks get sorted in my inbox, and also having a single place for JUST Cuppatrouble content (as opposed to scrolling through other mixed fandoms through my main blog, if i decide to post random other things or just talk regularly on my blog).

I worry however. that my main blog might. become very empty otherwise if i focus on a sideblog HLKJHKJ

Tumblr Cosmetic Customization Tutorial

You there! New Tumblr User with a default icon and header, no description, no custom URL, and not wanting to be mistaken for a bot--you just want to maybe figure out this weird hellsite and follow some people without being blocked, right?

Maybe you've been around for a little while, or are returning from that other hellsite, and don't know what the heck folks mean by enabling the custom URL and why are so many blogs opening on the dash instead of in a new tab?!

Let's sort this mess out below the cut with a screencap-laden tutorial, starting on mobile app (since Most new blogs start there these days, and many people use mobile more, or exclusively) and then moving to web browser for some other features that aren't available in the app (as of 1/27/23 anyway).

This is just going to be about cosmetic customization and accessing the correct blog URL and archive; Tumblr's many other settings and features for how you want to see your Dashboard and how much Privacy control you decide on are for your exploration (or another day and another tutorial, this one's long enough).

The tutorial blog itself literally took me well under 5 minutes to set up, and Tumblr guided me to customizing immediately. Taking the screenshots added a few seconds to the time; it's taken longer to write the first part of this post out. If you didn't customize the blog right away, don't fret! You can always tap the little art palette and cogwheel icons at the top of your blog to sort it out.

Now go below the link to see written instructions with image examples, including a few more with my cat:

TO BEGIN: In the mobile app, I make a new blog. For me, it's a sideblog under my main and existing sides, but otherwise this is all the same info. The following process also isn't actually all that different in web browser.

Now, you can change your URL later on if you want; a lot of folks do over time. Just be aware: changing your URL breaks any and all previous links to your blog, including any posts others have reblogged under "Read More" cuts, with the same result as if the blog was deactivated; the URL no longer exists, so Tumblr doesn't count it as "there" anymore.

Now that's out of the way, once I make a blog it immediately takes me to the Customization screen:

I can--and should!--give my blog a name and a description. Doesn't have to be long or fancy, and can always be changed later with no risk to your links.

I can tap the "Background" and "Accent" buttons to change the default colors, too. Let's go for something easy on the eyes by tapping on the colored circles to find some default options, or the wheel to grab a random custom one. I'm going to go to purple and find a nice shade there.

Next I will tap on the little default icon to choose an avatar photo. I can choose not to show it on my blog, and if I do, whether I want it to be square or circle.

I can also tap to choose a header image if I like. I'm just grabbing some images from my phone. I did have to redo the avatar as it didn't want to stay after selecting a header pic for some reason.

And then I made a quick post and pinned it, to let folks know that I am human and what the purpose of this blog is (lurking for now? A main blog for following while sideblogs get the content? In this case, a tutorial).

OK, so my cat for an icon, my copy of the fanzine I worked on as a header, a quick title and description, and a short post. Even if I post nothing else to this blog (and if it were a main blog; sideblogs can't follow others, nor send asks or replies), people will be fairly certain I am not a bot, hooray! And if I want to change anything, I can tap on the icons at the top of the blog and get back to these customization screens.

I CAN STOP HERE IF I WANT TO

...BUT WHAT IF I, or buddies, try to open my blog in a browser and it opens a dash panel? What if I (or others) want to access my Archive? Unfortunately, I cannot find the correct option in the mobile app at this point, so onto a web browser we go (on my phone or my tablet, or my computer).

I am using a generic default web browser where I don't have many extensions/plugins/addons enabled (though apparently I did set dark mode). When I tap/hover over my icon, it still shows my color option and everything I selected in app setup.

Here is where I am going to direct you to the side bar and the "Edit Appearance" button so I can point out some Very Important Things, even if you don't customize anything else ever.

When I open my blog's appearance tab, right away it's going to tell me some interesting things I have circled and pointed at on the below screenshot:

In RED I have circled my blog's URL: www.tumblr.com/lynmarstesting. This is why a blog opens in a dash panel instead of going to an actual blog. This is the new Default URL, I cannot access an Archive or other blog features like this.

The ORANGE arrow points to the feature we want, right below the "Blog name" and URL: "Custom Theme". When I swipe this feature to active, it tells me my URL is updated.

When I go to my blog, the URL in my browser shows the proper https://lynmarstesting.tumblr.com link.

And the blog looks...well, bare bones and empty, but a proper weblog page. And I (and anyone else) have access to my Archive! When, y'know, I have enough posts to make that a thing on this blog.

Now, if I or anyone else opens the blog by clicking my username or icon, it'll open a dash panel...but also show my actual @ and my proper URL link, so they can go to the blog itself that way if they want. Everyone wins!

there's no need from this point to keep messing around in a browser, we've done everything to 1) make ourselves look human and 2) make our blog properly linkable/accessible.

BUT WHAT IF...??

Once again, the little art palette icon at the top is our clicky-buddy, boxed below in orange:

This opens an "Edit Theme" sidebar panel where one can customize the blog. Each theme has different options, and Tumblr's default theme is honestly really modular; change colors, fonts, have multiple columns, add some pages (I've a whole other tutorial on that), etc.

There's also an "Advanced" pane, where you can mess with some other settings (the little ? icon on each line tells you what it does) and, if you're knowledgeable--or just bold--this is where you can add some Custom CSS.

Say the Default Tumblr Official isn't doing it, though; at the top of the Edit Theme pane it tells you your current theme, and there's a handy "Browse Themes" link.

This opens a drop down with multiple sorting options. I don't want to spend money on a premium blog theme at the moment, and the others are a mix, so let's check out the Free Themes options.

There's a lot of options here! Some new ones, some are sponsored, lots of variety. Even the "Accessible" theme I mainly use is there, in its barren glory, compared to what you can see I've made of it on browser (see that previous tutorial I linked above):

Again: Different Themes have Different Levels of Customization.

Some will let you change every color, the fonts, the frames, and so on. Some let you add links everywhere. Some barely let you touch anything. You can tap "Use" at the top to preview, and the "Advanced" pane will let you preview random pretend posts if you don't have many/any of your own to see how they'd look. If you don't like how something's turning out, just click back on "Free Themes" and look for another one.

PLEASE KEEP IN MIND READABILITY!!

When people follow links to your blog--like a Read More cut--they will see the post on your blog's theme and in your blog's colors. Even on mobile app, especially if you override the default mobile theme, your color choices will have an impact! Aesthetic is all well and good, but frames, fonts, colors, and so on, should be legible and readable to most people, especially if you mean to share a lot of text posts.

Another thing to note: Your theme will NOT appear on mobile app. It defaults to a basic setup in the app, keeping maybe only your colors. Any custom links won't show, and cosmetic site options and access are limited in a lot of ways. The site is usable on a mobile web browser, and will have those features there. I get around the app's inability to show my theme's links by adding them all to my informative Pinned Posts on each blog, but that's me.

And there you have it! How to cosmetically customize a Tumblr, in mobile app and browser, to seem like a real person and access the correct URL and features of your blog. Whether you're new or been here awhile, hopefully this helps answer some really basic questions about how and why to do some of these things.

@learning-sewing-stuff is a side blog where all three of us throw sewing things. We enjoy cross stitching a lot, I'm learning embroidery, and I wanna learn how to sew clothing & bags >:]

@system-of-storms is a side blog of Lexie's more geared toward system stuff and psychology stuff. I'm thinking of moving our System Chat Posts to there. And just random day to day things as well. I'll check in with Lex on that.

@complimentary-commenting is mostly dedicated to ao3 commenting. More for personal use for us to expand our compliments to the chefs.

@swfanficwriter is dedicated to making a pool of star wars references, metas, analysts, and such.

@lexi-lexicon-and-archive is one of Alex's sideblogs, mostly for writing stuff. I think 90% of it is writing prompts.

@parenting-with-kindness is yet another Lexie sideblog. It's purpose is for pooling information on children, raising them, gentle parenting, and learning how to re-parent yourself.

@jedi-core is a sideblog of mine & Lexie's about The Force, Jedi, & Sith of star wars. Re want to get a better grasp on it and decided to make a sideblog lmao

@rise-of-a-morningstar is our sideblog for Helluverse. Mostly just to cultivate our own little corner in the fandom.

About this Blog

What is the purpose of this blog?

The purpose of this blog is to highlight podfics of the ship Feng Xin/Mu Qing from Heaven's Official Blessing, as it can be quite a chore to find podfics sometimes. I will provide all the necessary information, including title, name of the author, name of the podficer, tags, summary, rating and length of the podfic in the posts. The posts will not include the soundfiles themselves, but links to where you can find them. Hopefully, this will make podfics more accessible than what platforms like Ao3 have to offer.

Why did I make this blog?

I am a big fan of podfics and I noticed there is a bit of a shortage in podfics within the FengQing community. To help this I want to maybe record my own podfics in the future, but in the meantime I want to bring more attention to the already existing podfics, so more people can enjoy them and might also be inspired to record their own.

On this blog, I will try to assemble any and all podfics centered around the ship FengQing. In the future I will work on a tagging system, but for now there's not that many podfics, so you should be able to work your way through them. I use my own tag #fqpodfic for all future posts, so feel free to block that if you're not interested in it. All posts will also be tagged with the fengqing tag. The posts are not automated, I assemble everything I post myself and rely heavily on things that people are sending me.

If you find a podfic centered around FengQing (or have recorded your own) on any streaming platform or fanfic archive (including but not limited to Spotify, Soundcloud, Youtube, Ao3), please send them to my inbox here or to my main blog @raindrops-on-concrete. always get permission from the author of a fic unless you yourself are the author. Some authors give blanket permissions in their bio or add a tag that gives permission for a specific fic. If you can't find any sort of permission to record a podfic anywhere, reach out to the author either on social media or in the comment section of a fic. If you don't have a permission, don't record the podfic.

this is very much just for fun so don't stress about sound quality or editing much. Some podficers just sit down and do a recording in one sitting.

typically podficers just like fanfic authors are also nice and approachable if you ask them for help nicely.

Also remember to leave kudos/likes and comment if you liked a podfic. Comments can be specifically about something you liked about the recording or about the fic itself, just be nice. Never leave any negative comments, podficers just like fanfic authors are doing this work for free in their free time.

A week ago there was a discussion about cropping stunts from pictures and many larries said that they used to prefer pictures this way but then realized it was like putting head in the sand and so they decided to not ignore it. Some even said that it´s important to have a whole picture aka the stunt including because of the context and something like understanding what is going on but honestly I haven´t understood what they meant. What is your opinion abou this, Marte? Why is context imporant when it comes to stunt photos? For me, who´s there since h*livia (so I´m new to H´s stunting and before I dived under the H´s surface and larry I used to think all his gfs were real because hadn´t known pr relationships/stunts/beards/closeting existed) I still don´t know what to think about this. One part of me is like "I love updates but I don´t like seeing H stunting" (Louis´ stunting don´t bother me at all, don´t know why - maybe because it will never convince me it´s real) and the second part of me is like "Whatever, I know what I know and my beliefs are strong so seeing H stunting won´t hurt me anymore". But I still feel weird seeing H pretending to be perfectly straight boyfriend and remember how much I hated those pda photos from Sep 23rd 2022 aka very obviously organic pap photos released the day that stupid movie went to the cinema worldwide and had to disconnect from the fandom for couple of weeks because it really hurt me and couldn´t believe H did that after he totally ignored her in Venice and had that lovely MP press conference and premiere in Toronto.

In regards to the to crop or not to crop discourse. I'm am 100% pro crop. I don't want to see any stunt photos. At all. By reblogging the full photo you are doing exactly what they want you to do, spreading the pictures. Exposing your followers to the stunt, making them sad or mad, insecure in their beliefs, or if you've got followers who follows you for other reasons making them believe it's real. Why would you contribute to any of that? I have zero tolerance for stunt pictures from fellow larries. Either the blogger need to tag it in a way that i can permanently blacklist it, or i don't follow the blog at all.

I somewhat see the argument that non-cropped pics is for archival purposes and for posterity, fandom history and in case you need it in the future. But it's a god damn stunt no matter which way you look at it. It all boils down to this. Do you need picture proof of it being a stunt? No, you don’t. If it's that important to you, make a sideblog and reblog it there or like it or put it in your drafts. There will always be het blogs that reblog and save the uncropped stunt pictures and most of them are used in tabloid articles. Seeing stunt pictures is infuriating to me. If you didn’t crop stunt pics you'd hardly have pics of Harry to reblog though. So it's important to crop so we can have content.

I don't see the argument that cropping is sticking your head in the sand. It's about enjoying pictures of you idol. As i said, if we didn't crop we'd hardly have any pics of H. It's about curating your fandom experience and eliminating the things that make you angry or drive you mad. Your dash/timeline should be a sanctuary away from stunting and fakeness. You shouldn't be at risk of seeing fellow larries reblogging stunt pictures. If you want to see them you could just open the daily mail. The pics are everywhere. Since they are everywhere, the one place i would expect to avoid them is in the larry fandom. It's a stunt and we fucking hate stunts. So please keep it off our dash.

Alright, I’ve had this idea for a little while (24hrs) and I want to know if anybody else would be interested or would get use out of this before I go ahead and make a sideblog.

Basically: I thought about the idea of making a c!Ranboo gallery blog to reblog c!Ranboo fan-art and organize it through tags for important lore events and/or character groups (i.e. #prison_visit, #borealtrio, #doomsday, etc). Reblogs would be queued for every few hours or so

The purpose would be to archive c!Ranboo art into one space in case accounts get deleted, make it easy to search for specific art from certain eras, and intermittently put old and new c!Ranboo art on the dash. I know c!Ranboo’s story is already over, and a lot of us have moved on, but I still love them and all the art people made of him. So, is this something anybody else would be interested in?

Hey, it’s been awhile, huh?

Some of you may vaguely remember me talking about restructuring the blog back in March of last year (yikes, has it been that long already?), only for not much to really happen. Newer posts popped up on the blog after that as well. What happened?

Well, it’s still happening. Today, in fact as I finally have a free day to sit down and do everything in one go. It’ll just be happening in a different way from what was originally planned.

I’m putting the rest of this under a read more for those who want to skip on the more long-winded explanation. If you’re still here, hi and thanks for reading on.

Like I mentioned above, my original post that talked about restructuring things was made in March of 2021. I obviously never intended for it to drag on for so long, but life gets in the way and honestly I was still unsure what I wanted to do.

In the original post I said that this would be remaining a fnaf-oriented ask blog, just essentially wiped clean and rebooted. This is no longer what I want to do.

When I first was trying to decide what to do with this blog. Should it remain and ask blog or just shift to a more personal one? I thought I would be able to do a reboot of the blog, but the past year has helped to shift my perspective.

I’ve never been a fast artist and I’ve really only slowed down over time. I also have found that I prefer to fill a more “creative support” role and like to help with other peoples’ projects versus helming one of my own. I still have my own ideas and things, but sometimes I have trouble fully forming them so they often stay in my head.

The other reason I’m turning this account into a personal blog instead of making a personal sideblog, is that I’m just bad at making and using sideblogs. You may have seen me over the years accidentally post something meant for a sideblog here or vice versa if you follow one of the side accounts. I am terrible about checking which blog I’m posting to before hitting post. So, to just make it easier for myself why not make the default account a personal one where I can put whatever I want without having to worry about it? Easy. (I also already have side blogs tied to this account, so it’s easier to just make this a personal blog instead of deleting it entirely and having to start over and re-tie the new account to older projects).

So personal blog? Cool, cool. What happens to the old art here and the art on your current art sideblog? Well, as for this account most of the old stuff is getting archived. All ask art has been mostly archived already on a personal external drive. Some posts may stay, mostly older posts that still make me giggle, or older art from others that I reblogged and still enjoy. Some of my own older art that wasn’t explicitly tied to an ask may also stay, but I’m leaving that up to my discretion if it should be kept up or not. More recent art, like last year’s fnaf ar collab will remain up since it’s recent and I want people to still be able to see everyone’s hard work.

As for the art blog, my art will be archived, posts will be reblogged here for cohesion purposes, and then the art blog will be deleted. Since this one is becoming my main blog, having a secondary art blog feels redundant to me. It could be for purely art reblogs, but that’s not how I work. Plus, I want my art blog’s username to become this blog’s new username, soooo it’s gotta go. A post about this will also go up on the art blog at some point, although it’ll be slightly different.

Sorry for being so dormant about this for so long, and sorry if the changes aren’t what you wanted. If you feel like now’s a good time to unfollow go ahead, thanks for sticking around with this blog for however long you may have done so. If you’re going to stick around for the changes, again, thank you. Thanks for putting up with my slow post speed and long periods of dormancy, and thanks for just sticking around as we head into these changes. Hey, hi!

First off, sorry to those who exclusively followed to see/interact with a fictional five-headed Luxray. But I truly don't know when I'll be motivated enough to continue this (or any) askblog. Could be tomorrow, could be years away. Who knows.

Furthermore, I've been using my art sideblog ( @blank-fox-sideblog) much more than Ask-Hydray. Even though I've only posted two bursts of 9-10 ArtFight posts, spaced about a year apart, with dead silence in between.

I think it only makes sense that Blank-Fox should be my main blog, all things considered. Future posts will likely still be heavily pokemon-leaning (with a few splashes of similar fandoms here and there) and you're more than welcome to stick around for it. If you want to unfollow over this overhaul (or for any other reason), though, feel free! No hard feelings. ^^

Also, because I'm not someone who'd just up and delete everything on a whim, nothing will be lost. now, to the long post

first, i wanna talk about my mental health, which i have been very openly struggling with for some time now. the thing is, i was on a medication that was actually making my depression worse, and that medication was also causing me the allergies that were making me feel so bad about myself. i'm off of them now, have been for a week, maybe, and i already feel like i'm doing better. therapy is also helping. i really like my therapist, and the sessions don't feel suffocating, like someone only waiting for me to word vomit all of my issues. we actually have conversations, it's not a one sided thing, and she's been helping me make some progress with my home life, which is the biggest external problem i'm having at the moment

now, to måneskin. so, the other day i listened to a podcast (you're wrong about, the "yoko ono broke up the beatles" episode, if you're interested), and it made me reexamine my relationship to the band. truth is, they're changing, and i don't like it. i really don't like it. from the music itself, to acting like they're instagram influencers instead of an actual band with actual talent, i just don't like it. and honestly, that's fine. the thing i have to come to terms with, and i'm really trying to for my own sake more than anything else, is that those are not my decisions to make. and that's also fine. i have to be okay with it, because the alternative only hurts me. i think i've been spiralling since they stayed in LA for those few months because i was too emotionally invested in them. like, i was borderline emotionally dependent on them, and that's so fucking unhealthy and also so unfair to everyone involved. they didn't sign up to cater to me, and it's really unfair of me to, i don't know, expect them to, expect them to keep me afloat when i'm the one who should be responsible for myself and my mental health, not them. i fully realize that now, and i'm working on it. i'm not saying i'm never gonna criticize them or voice my opinions on new songs, but i do need to chill with the emotional side of it.

and finally, the blog. like i said at the very beginning, i'm not gonna delete. but i don't think i'm gonna be as active here as i used to be, at least for now. i decided to keep it mainly for archival purposes, so my gifs and the things i did write won't just disappear. i want to keep them, so i'm keeping the blog. i will keep my inbox closed for a little longer, because i want to avoid a repeat of what happened. i don't want asks to end up piling up even more because i don't know how to answer them, because i'm feeling too down to match the enthusiasm, or because i'm not in the headspace to write. i don't know if what i did to my dms and replies even worked, to be honest, because i don't know what tumblr counts as "people you follow" when you do it on a sideblog, but in case it did make a difference, i'm just letting you all know i'm reopening them.

and speaking of writing, i'm coming back around to it, since i'm all around feeling better. i even managed to write a little yesterday, which is actually huge for me. i'm trying, i really am. and i want to answer most, if not all, asks i already have with the attention they deserve. i'm really sorry for making anyone feel bad, feel uncertain, or anything similar. that was never my intention, but i know intent doesn't equal impact, and i apologize.

for now, that's it. i'll keep reblogging, keep posting, keep thirsting, try to write in the background, try to do better for myself regarding the band's new direction.

what you can learn from all this mess is: always ask your psychiatrist why they're prescribing you a certain medication and what it is for. i didn't, and i paid the price for it for months. be smarter than i was.

1. Why did you choose your url?

oh, boy long story. when i made my fanfic account in 2011, i got stuck on what username i should use, so i spent a day ruminating on it. that was when i was drinking coffee every day before school even though it really didn't sit well with me. so i was sitting in class, vibrating, and i was thinking to myself that i was being a nervous little bouncy ball, and hey, that works as a username, except that was too long, so i had to shorten it to little bouncy ball, but also i'm german and it was a german website, so i went with kleiner gummiflummi. but these days even that is too long for most websites, so i recently workshopped it with a friend. she suggested ratzefummel, which is a colloquial term of an eraser, which i'm pretty sure she just suggested to annoy our anglophone friends. except ratzefummel is taken on a lot of websites, and i kinda wanted to keep part of my old name, so i mixed them, and now it's ratzeflummi

don't make me think about this. i've been on tumblr almost every day for eight and a half years

nope, because pretty much everything would have that tag on it. i honestly don't know why people use queue tags, they seem extremely pointless to me

5. Why did you start your blog in the first place?

because a fanfic author i liked linked to her tumblr in her fanfic profile, and tumblr wouldn't let me look at her blog without making a blog of my own

6. Why did you choose your icon/pfp?

it is my cat. i used to have fandom characters as my icon, but then i kinda fell out of fandoms altogther and kinda hopped around between different fandoms every couple weeks, so i switched to something neutral that i could just keep. i don't know why i specifically went for my cat. that was just something i had saved on my pc

7. Why did you choose your header?

a few months ago there was discourse about minors thinking that you must list as much information about yourself as possible, and how it's important to have your age in your bio, so minors can tell at one glance if you're safe to talk to. so i put in my bio that i am 12, and i put in my carrrd that i am 54 (not that anyone ever looked at that), and i picked my header to go with that, because people can fucking lie on the internet. if someone means you harm then they are probably telling you any lie necessary to make sure they reach their goal

8. What's your post with the most notes?

i kinda went on a purging spree two years ago, so now a lot of my high note count posts aren't linked to my blog anymore, which makes it really hard to find them (whoops. didn't even do that on purpose) across all blogs, my podcast sideblog has a post with 1500 notes, which is an audio post where i edited a bit from jonny sims' bloodborne stream together with a bit from the magnus archives to make it sound like the stuffy spooky librarian is flirting with a cat on main i have almost 400 notes on a post whining about how much the loki series sucks, followed by a 360 note post about bernd das brot

i will go higher up in the reblog chain to avoid "you need to reblog this" comments. if it's part of the main post then i will avoid reblogging it altogether

yes, kinda. the only problem is that they always want me to tag people in them, and 1) i don't know anyone, and 2) most of my mutuals are mutuals with each other, so all the people i could tag are usually already tagged in the post that i'm tagged in
