this pretty much covers the wide array of castes that the nidulli decided on, but wouldnt have really existed in this way on medriaas wayyyy back then.

acedae is an example of what the nidulli would assume a religious family, with only the surnames of her parents' most dominant bloodline and a short blessing trait ("trailblazer" in low sith); sruhya and kharâ would be governmental, only carrying the most dominant maiden overall.

those with five names and a longer blessing are considered royalty to the nidulli. tsaidhâ, a priest (which is ironically still a different caste), carries seven names because he was adopted by a priest and decided to put their name before his birth family's.

all blessings but acedae + loirlâ's are in high sith. mazum doesn't have a blessing, since her family is disgraced.

uhhhh the handful of single names, were all former slaves who had their family names stripped from them. eventually i will go back to working on ffon's family :3

I was today years old when I found out that Hirunaka no Ryuusei (Daytime Shooting Star) was being given an English release by Viz Media (Shojobeat). I already preordered volume 1. Release date for volume 1 is July 2, 2019.

The “Five Beautiful Men” of the Shinsengumi

Who comes to mind when you think about good-looking guys in the Shinsengumi? Hijikata Toshizo? Okita Souji? Or is it Kano Sozaburo?

Kano Sozaburo is a fictional character from a novel (Shinsengumi Keppuroku by Shiba Ryotaro), but there were people in the Shinsengumi called "Five Beautiful Men" (隊中美男五人衆).

These are the members of the "Five Beautiful Men"

The anecdote of the "Five Beautiful Men" was written in the third work of the Shinsengumi trilogy by Shimozawa Kan, "Shinsengumi Monogatari" (新選組物語). Shimozawa Kan got it from an interview with the second son of the Yagi Gennojo family, Tamesaburo, who had lived in the Shinsengumi's residence.

All five are recorded as enlisted in 1863, the early days of the Shinsengumi’s formation.

Kusunoki Kojuro

Born in Kyoto. He was 17 years old when he joined the Shinsengumi. It is said that he had a fair-skinned face with clear eyes and a gentle voice like a woman.

In September 1863, the same year as the enlistment, it was discovered that he had joined the Shinsengumi as a spy under the secret order of Katsura Kogoro of Choshu. He was assassinated by Harada Sanosuke.

Magoshi Saburo

Born in Awa (today’s Tokushima Prefecture). He was the youngest of the five beautiful men and was 16 years old when he joined, but he was said to have outstanding swordsmanship.

There was an anecdote that Magoshi was liked by men, not women. Takeda Kanryusai, who later became a captain, had a lot of romance with men, and Magoshi was also approached by Takeda. It seemed that Magoshi didn't understand what was happening and later got into a conflict with Takeda and withdrew from the Shinsengumi.

After leaving the Shinsengumi, it was said that he became a glass dealer and lived until around 1887.

Yamano Yasohachi

Born in Kaga (today’s Ishikawa Prefecture). He was 21-22 years old when he joined the Shinsengumi.

It is said that he fell in love with the daughter of a water teahouse in Mibu called the Yamatoya. He belonged to Okita's First Squad and worked with them until the final resting place of the Shinsengumi, Hakodate, but he left the squad before they surrendered and served as an elementary school janitor during the Meiji era.

He lived a long life until 1910 (Meiji 43).

Mazume Ryutaro

Born in the Chugoku region (details unknown). 20 years old when he joined the Shinsengumi.

He joined with his father, Mazume Shintaro, but he was timid and didn't often go out with his friends. He was on good terms with a woman who was a babysitter at the Nanbu clan, which had become a Shinsengumi residence. When the woman became pregnant, it was said that she was slaughtered by other soldiers. As a result, Mazume's parents and children became uncomfortable and escape one night to leave the Shinsengumi.

It’s unclear what happened after that.

Sasaki Aijiro

Born in Settsu (today’s Osaka Prefecture). He was 19 years old when he joined the Shinsengumi. Reputed to be the most beautiful boy in the corps, he was not very tall, but his face and body were white like snow, and his skin is said to have outstanding smoothness.

Sasaki fell in love with Aguri, the daughter of a greengrocer, a beautiful woman who had a good reputation in the neighborhood. However, at that time, Serizawa Kamo, the chief bureau chief, fell in love with him and tried to forcibly steal Aguri away. It was Sasaki and Aguri who followed the recommendation of Serizawa's minion, Saeki Matasaburo, who suggested that Sasaki should escape since he was in trouble, but he was killed because of Saeki betrayal. He was only 19 years old.

However, it’s said that Aijiro Sasaki was not killed according to newly discovered materials. The tragedy was said to have occurred in August of Bunkyu 3, the same year when he joined the Shinsengumi, but it seems that the name of "Sasaki Aijiro" appeared in the list of soldiers written in December of that year.

The truth is unknown, but it seems certain that Sasaki Aijiro was popular as a beautiful boy.

Neither Hijikata nor Okita are included...

It seems that Soji Okita was not actually a "bishonen". According to a book that summarizes descriptions from Hijikata's relatives and Tamesaburo Yagi, who told the anecdote of the "Five Beautiful Men", Okita was "dark in color" and had a "face like a flatfish." The details are unknown because there are no photos of Okita, but there is no record that he was a beautiful boy. However, the Yagi family's children mentioned that he was always joking around and rarely had a serious face, and the appearance of playing with children with a large body of about 170 centimeters at that time became popular.

Hijikata Toshizo is a beautiful boy in the modern sense. It seems that he was quite popular at that time, and there’s no shortage of anecdotes about his relations with women.

But why isn’t he included?

It's just a guess, but maybe they thought it was foolish to put the second most powerful person in the Shinsengumi in the "five people". Or was Hijikata Toshizo exceptional? I don't know, but there were a lot of good-looking guys in the Shinsengumi.

I wanted a Mazume background but couldn’t find one that I really liked so I made this one! It’s actually simple but simply a few Mazume moments that made me really happy. (lowkey wanted the one where mamura asked to marry him and the feverish kiss plus the beach kiss but I don’t want anyone to see my phone to be weirded out)

Lowkey wanted the one where Mamura replied ‘I won’t let you go easily’ hug but there wasn’t enough.

Anyway Mamura is the best boy. Tenyuu is second.

1. The starting line of your current WIP.

Since I don’t really remember the starting line of Dune and I’m not able to access my own computer and look it up right now (I think it was something like “He threw his arms up into the air”), I’ll just go with my first wip called The Taste. It’s a Shakespeare quote (so tumblr right? I know...):

“These violent delights have violent ends.”

2. Two favourite OCs.

I love Callis Nanme, The Taste’s main protagonist. She’s 19, Asian, bisexual and she just moved to the city of Leighdon (I’ll change that name, it’s a mesh of Leigh Bardugo’s name and London ^^. You should check out Six of Crows btw!), in order to escape a toxic relationship with her violent ex boyfriend. She is now studying literature, loves books, video games, coffee and jazz. She seems to be very shy but she can be pretty extroverted and sometimes self destructive when you know her better. 

The second one is Amir Harun, Dune’s main protagonist. He’s 17, has dark skin, green brown eyes and dark brown, long cornrows. He lives together with his uncle Mazum and his cousin Naliah in Suthri, the kingdom of the desert. He’s a Dunae, a soldier able to manipulate sand. He also likes coffee and books and is very reliable. He always seems to be happy, but underneath his smile he hides a deep loss.

3. Plotter or Pantser?

I don’t even know what that means, sorry ^^’

4. Are you easily distracted?

Not really, I just run out of motivation very quick when it comes to writing. That’s also the reason why The Taste is currently on a hiatus. Once I’m stuck on a scene I can’t get my mind out of it and can’t start writing somewhere else within my story.

5. Favourite book

I will always love The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. 

I also loved reading “Perfume: The Story of a Murderer” in school.

6. Favourite author  

I don’t really have one, just many whose works I like ^^

7. Best part of being a writer.

Having a very creative phase, where so many new ideas struck my mind and writing them all down in my notebook with little doodles next to them.

8. What do you do if you have writer’s block?

Like I previously said, I tend to get lost in scenes a lot. So I just stop writing for a few days and then return to my story, or I simply start a new wip (well hello Dune) ^^

9. Do you listen to music while writing and if you do, what genre?

YES, I listen to music all the time! Most times just the stuff I like, what would fall under the genres of pop, alternative and some acoustic stuff. However, if I can’t get into a certain mood on my own I just search for fitting playlists (e.g. the ost of AC Origins when writing a fighting scene for Dune ^^).

10. Least favourite book.

“The Catcher in the Rye”. I remember my German teacher talking about this book and I just imagined it to be so much different.

The end of Shizume vs. Mazume saga

CAN I JUST SCREAM OUT LOUD AND CAPS LIKE CCCCCRAZY? YAAASSSSSSS 

OK, the me now and me 3 years ago have different view on Suzume's love triangle mess. Reading it again I can't even decide which one's which; sensei with his hipster teacher coolness or Mamura a quiet yet adorkarble hearthrob. They both suit Suzume and I'm on both teams. 

But when Suzume decided for herself, by dropping the "DID" bomb to sensei, everything went crystal clear.

I found myself giddy and went "KYAAA OMG" that she chose Mamura. Go ahead girl. I also feel okay that sensei wasn't the one. The girl choose for us and it's a happy ending no matter what. Turns out I'm actually on team Suzume. Her happiness matters the most.

For those of you who are a hardcore Shizume shipper, let's just believe in the parallel world they are holding hands and having a wonderful first kiss now (darn, Orange got me caught up bad). To my gorgeous sensei, you had your chance but you choose to back down, why? you cool fine specimen you *I keep contradicting myself his handsomeness is WAY too distracting.

You're welcome to visit me in my dreams. LOL.

So many LOVE confessions in the ending * squeal <3<3<3 <3<3<3 <3<3<3 (sorry sensei T_T).

I adore how Suzume just run to get what she wants (whether she want it or by accident. Sorry Mamura. Lol), she's the perfect example of a heroine that doesn't let boys run her life. Heck, it took her almost a year to even say love (compare to most of our teenage drama queen *cough *cough)

The tiny bit of BTS at the end was a cute touch also. Feels like reading a movie!!! Even though sensei didn’t get the exactly happy ending as we wish for he still look hot *darn I got distracted. And adult Mamura too * darn this men and their killer looks.

This manga got me time travel to my 17 years old self who'd scream for 2D boys. I give 10/10 for making me even envied every details of hair, clothes and gestures that is achieved by Yamamori sensei through studying countless fashionable references I suppose. How I miss drawing those! T_T

I hope Hino is taking her time while making the chapters.I hope she doesn't feel rushed like before.Why am I saying this is because this chapter is apparently a bonus chapter.And she hasn't done that in a while.Which gives me this feeling that she finally feels comfortable with making Vkm.That means we will most likely be satisfied with Vkm in the end,since I do find Hino to be quite good at what she does,especially when she's in her game.Overall,I'm getting good vibrations for this series!^^

It is so good to hear someone say something nice about Hino Matsuri for once. I know she has let people down in the past. But sometimes I think that is just as much about not being able to please everyone as it is about the fact that she fell short on a few characterizations and a rushed ending that may or may not have been tampered with from higher ups.

Let’s be honest. When shipping of any kind happens, especially with a love triangle, there is absolutely no way to please everyone. So no matter what she does almost half of her readers will feel let down and that she did them and their beloved character or characters wrong. The same thing happened with Hirunaka no Ryuusei. It was clear from the first few chapters that I read that mazume would be end game. It was as obvious as the nose on my face. It should have been obvious to everyone and yet quite a bit of the fandom, from what I’ve seen, felt that it should have went the other way. So my reasoning is, no matter which direction Hino would have chosen to go a lot of fans would feel like she wronged them. 

I, like you, have good feelings and I am getting very good vibes for this series as well. I actually believe that when Hino is in her groove she is really good at her work. I also believe that by the end of this series we will be satisfied and all loose ends will be wrapped up and our trio will find their happiness at last. I just hope that one of this trio does something to earn his happy ending since he caused so much pain and destruction to innocents. I do believe that he will learn from his mistakes of the past, and whether I agree with him getting a happy ending or not, at least he will do something to earn it.

But thank you so much for coming into my inbox with positive thoughts on Hino.

Facing my old wound again! Finished reading the latest 2 extra chapters from hnr. Spoiler! (it's an extra anw, but sadly i felt that it's still a major plot :"") The samejima x shishio one: It's really funny because samejima herself admit it, like "For some fortunate situations, I need to stay at my neighbor's room. Some lovely interactions happen. And if I fall in love with him, that would complete the shoujo manga cliches." Plus wtf he kissed her just because he thinks she's cute??? That's just.. contradictory to the fact that he was a guy who drew the line for romantic relationship, he just.. doesn't do that.. To an acquintance.. She's not even a friend (yet). But then he talked about suzume, her student... And I was shocked again!! HAHA my heart! I'm not even ready but you just opened your old wound wide open, shishio hahaha. I love now that shishio has talked about it, they could actually build some deeper bond. It's weird that he didn't mention / couldn't see Samejima's resemblance to Suzume. For the part that she couldn't show a lot of emotion even if she's not emotionless. And even if she's hard to show emotion, she had passion of one certain thing (shoujo manga, and sea creatures for suzume). And for the part that she rarely smiles and your heart fluttered when she smiles.. Like.. Any idea? But well who careees, Yamamori Mika might not want to mention that because it will make the story even longer and make shizume shippers even harder to move on. This extra completes my dose of good art and good words from Yamamori Mika. Despite of the plot, I adore her art and choice of words (also the mighty translator's words ;) ). And also my dose of Shishio. The mazume one: Okay. Suzume and Mamura are completely in different character from when the series start. Character's growth, I guess? Their interactions are so fluffy. It's hard to picture the old them where suzume wasn't able to show emotion well while mamura was very defensive of people's approaches. Soooo different from they now where suzume smiles and kisses easily while mamura is not being cold to people's teases. But tbh, personally, one of the reason that I love the manga hnr is for the mc's character of course. Hard to show emotion. But very passionate about something. And then come shishio, the beautiful teacher. And then come mamura, the cool guy who's shy to girls. I enjoy their interactions because of their characters. If they were real human, I would love to see their character growth. But because they're just shoujo manga characters.. I umm it's hard to keep up. It's like their MBTI just changed. But then when I think again. Okay, they're just teenagers. Teens grow to adults. Their characters also changed. And btw, I love the art :) and the clothes! Mamura wears high neck just like Steve Jobs. Suzume wears comfy lil-patterned sweaters just like shishio's haha.
