I’m listening to NightMind’s EverymanHYBRID explained videos and the only thing I can think is just, “So, like Higurashi, right?”

Everyone’s losing their minds, people are dying, there’s some kind of time loop, mysterious supernatural creatures are behind said time loop, everyone’s miserable, etc.

I realize there’s more happening here, but the only way I’m comprehending it is via Higurashi.

Something I've found myself doing every time I've revisited an arc from Higurashi (particularly now that I'm actually getting around to doing the VN), especially since I know the truths of each arc, is imagining how things look from Hanyuu's perspective.

Know what Hanyuu/Oyashiro is really like puts a whole new heartbreak on every moment a character notices 'the extra footsteps' or 'the looming shadow over their bed'. The characters all think it's a God watching, judging, and cursing, when really, it's just a kind hearted girl that's worried for you.

Like, in Onikakushi, when Keiichi pauses at his door before swinging the bat wildly at the invisible presence behind him, I can't help but think that Hanyuu was trying to give the poor boy a hug from behind, and wanted to let him know it would be okay.

Oyashiro-sama 'exists', and she loves you.

I mean, just look at her. How can you look at this girl, and think her an evil god?
