isn't it strange how quickly familiar things can become so unfamiliar? how what was once taken for granted can warp and shift into something unrecognizable? maybe jinyoung could deflect, project, whatever it is and say that it's this situation that's become so alien to him; joomi in his apartment, tucked into tight quarters in the small kitchen, alone except for each other. in reality, it's jinyoung himself who doesn't quite recognize who he sees in the mirror these days.

if nothing else, this has got to be the longest stretch of time that he's gone without anyone else in his bed since high school. perhaps that alone would make the sultry, flirtatious moon jinyoung unrecognizable to many who knew him for his trysts and hedonistic tendencies. but it's more than just action, there's thoughtfulness brewing under the surface that wasn't there before. there's an attempt to connect with his sense of self that is not defined by what has been done to him, by what he has allowed other people to define him as. honestly, jinyoung still isn't sure about it. he almost laughed when the company therapist he was paired with told him that it sounds like he has trauma. surely not me, he had thought. but i'm normal. i'm not a basket case. as if his breakdown, witnessed by ren, had never happened. as if he wasn't totally convinced that he would only ever be desirable company for one reason and one reason alone.

still, it's strange being around joomi now. he's still here, for one, patiently staying by jinyoung's side as a friend despite the sudden halt to their more intimate activities, despite jinyoung ignoring him for over a week before he finally had to explain that he was working through something privately and couldn't bring joomi home every night anymore. despite the distance, despite the lack of touch and intimacy... he's still here.

jinyoung is still working out if the extra chill at night is from old habits haunting him or because joomi sleeping next to him was a different kind of warmth. he doesn't know if he wants to continue whatever it was they were doing just to feel wanted or because it's something that he wanted to share with the other man. he's never been the brightest and thinking through all of his questions, unlearning the bad habits his brain has developed over the years, is taking longer than he thought it would. not that he had any expectations for needing to do any of this thinking; he thought he was fine after all.

"the first batch should be cool enough to frost by now," he informs the other man, breaking the awkward silence in the apartment. he doesn't know how to talk to joomi right now, he realized quickly. so much of jinyoung's vernacular had been flirting and innuendos. and certainly there's still a time and place for such things, but somehow it doesn't feel right to fall back into that right now, right here. if joomi was something different than all of the others, then he should want to talk to him differently too, right? jinyoung just doesn't know what that sounds like, even if he had been doing it all along. sometimes thinking turns into overthinking and everything just becomes more confusing.

"thanks for helping," he manages, "sooyoung'll appreciate it. she likes you."

An interim comic! Rewinding to the first time my Shep met Garrus while I work on the next part. I'm halfway done the planning stage, but I needed to take a break and do something 'simpler' for a bit (this doesn't have BGs so it counts in my mind ok).

star trek fans specifically are crazy for that. you say "im not really comfortable watching tos because of the way captain kirk interacts with women" and 900000 people come crawling oit of the woodwork to say UM ACTUALLY kirk is a GENTLEMAN FEMINIST who is ALWAYS NICE and VERY BISEXUAL! and the only people who think he acts like that are the DUMB PIG CHAUVINIST MEN who think kirk is LIKE THEM! okay im actually referring to how he constantly grabs at women esp when they're unhappy and physically restrains them. or the weird sexually charged comments he makes. or his persistent assumption of all women as available and simple things to be acquired or controlled. and sometimes they lobby back with the "well Its Made In The Sixties so of course its Dated but its still PROGRESSIVE!" okay well its so dated that im not comfortable. i cant just say to myself "oh well it was another time" and immediately become blind to whats happening before my eyes.

in which cure gives me brainrot 5 months after release

so ive been transcribing the guitar parts for cure and i just have some thoughts regarding the music and its relation to the video

first of all, the guitar motif that you hear front and center in the teaser is pretty hard to spot in the actual song.

it plays very quietly in the left audio track starting from when ivan begins singing his part, and lasts for 7 bars until the main guitar riff kicks in. i think there's interesting ways to interpret this, if you think of this little guitar motif as representative of ivan. by choosing this motif to represent the entirety of round 6 in the teaser video, it's made clear that ivan's feelings are the focus of round 6. in the song it plays quietly, hidden in the mix, as if symbolizing his masking of his true emotions. however, it plays loud and clear as the sole melody in the teaser; not the guitar riff from the intro of the song or the stuttering guitar of the chorus, even though they are more recognizable parts of the song. it's like an audio representation of ivan throwing his round: this is not about the song, or the performance; that is all cast aside for ivan's emotional outburst. something that should have been neatly hidden away is now the focal point of the round.

the next part i wanted to talk about is the ending, the part that deviates from the studio release. after till and ivan sing their individual parts, there is a call and response section where they take turns singing.

till stops singing halfway through this part, and ivan tips over the microphone and goes in for the kiss.

during the kiss, the guitar part from the chorus plays, as if to say that this is ivan's chorus now. it's an expression of his feelings, and ivan is the one in control.

after confirming their scores, ivan leans back and holds till's neck. till closes his eyes.

during this part, the guitar part from that previous call and response section repeats.

the shot switches between ivan and till. till closes his eyes. ivan is shot. ivan looks at till. till's eyes are closed. ivan looks at till. till's eyes are still closed. the guitar returns to the tonic chord, Fm, again and again, and the visuals parallel the same failed call and response as the music. ivan is waiting for a reaction from till, anything in response to his outburst—and till is giving him nothing. and that's how the round ends, no duet, no last run of the chorus, no callback to the intro. it just ends, unresolved.

so anyway i thought that was neat.

this is so dramatic and for what? like imagine dnp seeing tweets like this when a couple of small things happened that weren’t that big of a deal.

like one person got told off for taking pictures, yes embarrassing admittedly but im sure mostly just for the person? like everyone else should be fine?

and then the glove thing, in context it seems to me like an honest mistake, not a ~disrespectful~ thing.

why must some people always make it seem like dnp need to be defended by people on twitter. com, like i swear they’re so grown, they’re fine. they don’t hate us, i don’t think they feel disrespected because of these things, just try not to take pictures anymore and it will be okay. or at least dont be so obvious you get caught.

like this is the opposite of the point of this tour guys😭 and also nothing happened. if someone steals something out of spite or disrespect for them, then okay sure. but what’s the point in over exaggerating stuff? where is this getting us?
