youtube
ITS A DUET OF KARL AND LADY DIMITRESCU?? (Angie and Moreau sing for a tiny part)
Even though the slots are all in Japanese the song is actually in full English

honestly what's interesting is that heihachi seems to be [subtly?] afraid of devils.
Tumblr media
at the end of tk3, heihachi does look briefly wide eyed as soon as the tekken soldier hits the wall. which, this could be conveying surprise instead of fear... buuuuuuuut...
in heihachi's tk3 [albeit noncanon] ending, he looks at jin's comatose body rather calmly.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
but his eyes do widen for a second as he realizes devil is taking over jin.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
it's only after devil takes over that heihachi chucks jin. so i wonder if he was always gonna chuck jin out of the helicopter (after all, if he disposed of kin in the canon ending - he'd probs still plan on disposing of him in the alternate route where he was the one to defeat ogre instead...) or if he just saw devil and was like "ohhh fuck no!" which honestly i can't blame him LMAO.
Tumblr media
i dunno, but i also liked that he knew right away the person aside him wasn't his son. like yes, kazuya's voice sounds weird & he has red glowing eyes, but still!
anyway, as devil introduces itself...
Tumblr media
heihachi gasps, and starts backing away.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
which i also find interesting that when he thought it was kazuya, he didn't moved away. but he only did when he found out it was devil. as if he trusts kazuya to uhh... not Attack Him right away more than devil LMAO.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
and once jin went devil and was preparing to kill heihachi... heihachi was definitely scared!!!
it kinda makes me wish they made the kazumi & heihachi fight even more Brutal in tk7, like maybe heihachi just barely survives it and THAT'S a reason why he might've been scared of the devils in the older games!! or maybe i'm just overanalytical and i'm just misinterpreting these scenes and i'm totally wrong!!! but i just thought it would've been interesting that, despite being a big tough man, heihachi was truly scared of the devils.
i guess because like what i've complained about jin sometime ago - is that it just feels like the writers are scared to make their characters scared anymore. like how in tk3's ending, jin seemed genuinely terrified after getting shot & everything. but then in bloodline, they had to mess it up and have him be a "badass," standing up for himself and talking down to heihachi despite the fact heihachi is aiming a gun at him lmaoooo. i think they did the same shit in a pachislot retelling too - like jin practically didn't look like he gaf because uhh. can't let our badass fighters look scared or be vulnerable anymore lmao.

Trevor and Isaac as rivals
So, Hector and Isaac are the best rivals in Castlevania, they’re the Besties turned Worsties, we all know that. But a thought that can’t leave my mind is that, in an universe where Hector didn’t exist... Trevor would also work nearly perfectly? The Pachislot game pitted them together, and even gave Isaac a new weapon that would match the Vampire Killer:
Tumblr media
And they got a badass fight scene in CoD that shows really well their different figthing styles:
youtube
Sure, Trevor doesn’t share the same history with Isaac in the same way Hector does, but still, they have more parallels than you might think.
Trevor killed Dracula and was the material cause of Isaac’s isolation and madness. Isaac should have seriously resented him more than he does in the game (unless you count the Stabbing scene as revenge lmao). This already would offer a tragicomical dynamic of “You took everything away from me!” “I don’t even know who you are”.
Both of them were exiled from society due to their powers and family origins. However, Trevor accepted the mission given by the Church, because no matter how he and his family were treated, he knew that he had to do what was right; Isaac was left so disillusioned by humanity, and got drilled into his head that he did not belong to the human world anyway, that he proudly served Dracula in his quest for genocide.
Trevor is a proud member of the Belmont clan, while Isaac shed his clan name after becoming a Devil Forgemaster, and has a complicated relationship with his only known relative Julia.
Trevor had close allies to help him in his quest, for which he’s grateful for; Isaac lost his one ally whose relationship with is ambiguous, but anyway he seems to be largely self-reliant, and he creates his own help with his hands.
Trevor is a natural born leader, charismatic and able to make different people stick together for a common goal; Isaac is a servant, who doesn’t want to think for himself and finds his natural place in being someone else’s tool. (in the middle stands Hector, who is proudly independent.)
Both Trevor and Isaac have signs on their skin given by Dracula and related to him: Trevor was scarred in their battle, Isaac got the Forgemaster crest tattoed on his back (we don’t know the nature of all his other tattoos, but I am sure that at least the crest was given by Dracula himself). Trevor did not ask for scars, but he shows them, and they mark him as a hero; one can see Isaac shedding his uniform in his madness as a way for him to display his blasphemous tattoos to the world, and his utter loyalty to Dracula.
Both of them are fiercely determined to their cause. They both even reluctantly acknowledge the fighting abilities of the other (less reluctantly in the Japanese version :P).
Both of them are arrogant, sassy bitches, with Trevor having one hell of a raised eyebrow expression and Isaac rolling his eyes to his heart’s content :P and they sure both love to talk lmao. The amount of attitude from both of them could not be contained in one room.
I actually believe that, in the right conditions, Trevor and Isaac would come to respect each other, in a “worthy rival” way. From this perspective, Trevor and Isaac really are opposites, while Hector stands at the halfway point, starting from the same place as Isaac but then moving closer to Trevor’s.
@the-crow-binary you asked :P

simultaneously interested and kind of excited for the remake even just in terms of graphics ([taps my fingers together] high resolution graphics of the boss that still look decent and not uncanny valley please please please please please i'm nothing... i'm not even gonna state the obvious other hope) and absolutely fucking terrified (i'll be honest volgin genuinely scares me and the pachislot version was bad enough i do not need him to get better graphics i need him to get worse graphics. i want this man to look like he came out of the original metal gear solid and i want all of his voice lines to be replaced by sound clips of adults talking in peanuts cartoons <- insane)
but everything else too really. like what if they fuck up the graphics, yes, but also what if they fuck up the voice acting. what if they somehow manage to make their 'hilarious' homophobic joke even worse. but on the other hand. what if they improve those things too. it could go either way
really though the trailer should have showed more characters to settle all our nerves like come on. come ON.
^ sorry for the monologue i've been dying about this since i found out
yesss i'm nervous about what they're gonna do to the boss and eva too, based off snake they're not going exactly with the pachislot models but they still could be close to them and i really don't like eva's like. who!! is she!! i don't know but it's not my eva </3 she needs her dark circles and her bumpy nose
(also i realised ocelot's is kinda? based on his mgsv model i think and i don't want them to go that route because as much as i love all ocelots, mgsv is the least visually ocelotlike of them all to me)
remake volgin is actually a video of a live action hand puppet that plays every time he's on screen, we never see him interact with anyone directly he just flails around and then it cuts away and snake goes flying like he's been punched
that developer announcement said the game will feature the original actors but it's not really clear if that means original voice acting completely or getting the old actors back to record it all again. the first option seems more likely if they're promising all the original voice actors, but if it's more like... a majority of them are coming back and some have been replaced then i guess it could be the latter. and if it's all original voice acting i guess they won't be adding/changing any cutscenes, but new voice acting would allow them to do that (not sure if they would though considering kojima wouldn't be directing any of the new stuff) i'm also curious about the mocap. whether they're gonna record new stuff based off the original scenes or change the facial animations so they match up with english dialogue and stuff like that
i'm too attached to the original voice acting to want anything new but in the end it is a remake and even if it all sucks no one's stopping me from going back to the original lol
but yeah i hope they can show some more characters next to satisfy our curiosity... just some renders or something... Please

How do you feel about Claudio and Zafina in Tekken 8?
Professional answer is that I'm glad the little special intro she has with him in TK7 is actually going somewhere now that they have to depend on one another to try and defeat their shared enemy. More background characters ought to make connections and honestly those two are a perfect match to come together storywise. Hoping they get enough time in story mode for it to be satisfying, especially with her dealing with Azazel and the connections that might exist between the archers and azazel (mostly hinted at in the pachislot cutscenes) not being entirely clear. What's funny is that they both seem to be set on a path of "I have to do whatever it takes even if it kills me" so it may turn into a game of who might perish first doing something reckless with their powers. Unprofessional answer is that I hope they [censored] nasty style in the middle of story mode. I hope there is a whole scene dedicated to it.

Understanding the Distinction: Pachinko vs. Pachislots
Japan has a unique relationship with gambling, and amidst its landscape, two games stand out prominently: pachinko and pachislots. While both have their roots in the same cultural milieu and share some similarities, they are distinct in their gameplay, mechanics, and appeal. For those unfamiliar with these games, understanding the differences can provide a fascinating glimpse into Japanese entertainment. Here's a deep dive into the nuances that set pachinko apart from pachislots.
Tumblr media
1. Historical Origins:
Pachinko, often likened to a vertical pinball machine, traces its origins back to the 1920s. It was inspired by the "Corinth game," a children's toy introduced in Japan in the early 20th century. Over time, pachinko evolved, transitioning from children's entertainment to a popular adult pastime.
Pachislots, on the other hand, are a more recent phenomenon, emerging in the 1980s. As the name suggests, pachislots are a fusion of pachinko and slot machines. They incorporate elements from both worlds, offering a unique gaming experience that's distinctly Japanese. Visit this site to know more about pachinko.
2. Gameplay Mechanics:
At its core, pachinko is a game of skill and luck. Players shoot small silver balls into the machine, aiming to direct them into specific pockets. If successful, they're rewarded with more balls. The primary objective is to capture as many balls as possible, which can later be exchanged for prizes.
Pachislots, meanwhile, are more akin to traditional slot machines. Players insert coins or tokens and pull a lever, setting three reels in motion. The goal is to align specific patterns or symbols, leading to payouts in the form of additional tokens. While the outcome is predominantly based on luck, some machines offer interactive features, allowing players a degree of skill-based influence.
Tumblr media

3. Machine Design and Aesthetics:
Visually, pachinko machines are vertical, with a maze of pins and pockets. The bright lights, digital displays, and intricate designs make them captivating. Modern machines often incorporate themes from popular culture, such as anime, movies, or television shows, enhancing their appeal.
Pachislots, conversely, are horizontal, resembling conventional slot machines. They feature spinning reels, buttons, and levers. Like pachinko, they too often embrace thematic designs, with vibrant graphics, animations, and sound effects that make gameplay immersive.
4. Cultural Significance and Popularity:
Pachinko parlors, with their unmistakable cacophony of sounds, are ubiquitous across Japan. They've become cultural landmarks, drawing a diverse crowd, from businessmen to tourists. The game's longevity and evolution have cemented its place in Japanese society, making it a multi-billion-dollar industry.
Pachislots, while younger in the entertainment scene, have carved their niche, especially among those who enjoy the thrill of slot machines but desire a touch of skill-based interaction. Their rise in popularity has been meteoric, with dedicated parlors and sections within pachinko establishments catering to pachislot enthusiasts.
Tumblr media
5. Legal and Economic Implications:
Both pachinko and pachislots operate in a unique legal gray area in Japan. Direct gambling for cash is prohibited, so players exchange their winnings (balls or tokens) for prizes or tokens, which can then be "sold" at a separate location for money. This indirect system allows these games to thrive without being classified as gambling.
Economically, both games contribute significantly to Japan's entertainment industry. Pachinko, given its longer history, has a more extensive market, but pachislots have seen rapid growth, with manufacturers continually innovating to keep players engaged.
In conclusion, while pachinko and pachislots share a common cultural backdrop and some overlapping features, they cater to different tastes and preferences. Pachinko, with its blend of skill and luck set against a vertical maze, offers a unique challenge. In contrast, pachislots provide the familiar thrill of slot machines, with a touch of interactivity. As Japan continues to evolve its stance on gambling and entertainment, both games will undoubtedly adapt, but their core essence will remain a testament to the nation's innovative spirit in leisure and recreation.

So I found a neat website that has interesting promotion videos of the panchinko machine and...? I'm not sure what the second one is. Another panchinko machine? Or perhaps just another promotional video for the same one?
The first one interests me because there's art of the characters I haven't seen before? (Unless I haven't gone digging enough) Some of them just use the art from the reference sheets, but about half of them have (what I believe to be) new art. Also a few different voicelines? (I don't know, I don't think I've heard Takao say that before zjdbdj might be tripping.)
And there's also this promotional video on the same site that has a trailer of Mirai Nikki but with different framing. I also bring this up because it looks so... Different. It's merely a matter of where they changed the camera to be, yet, these shots of the trailer just give a whole different feeling. Maybe discomfort because I know those scenes well and it's just... Odd to see them differently?
Maybe you've all seen these, but hey, if I put this here maybe others will see them too.
It's been a couple of years since I've looked at those first two. I never actually listened to the audio on the first video before... damn, that announcer sounds so dramatic when he says "PACHINKO... MIRAI NIKKI" at the end. :P Andor the record, the second video is a promo reel for the pachislot game — the one WITHOUT any physical elements where a ball drops and is knocked around by plastic versions of the characters, etc. That full-fledged pachinko edition with plastic Murmur and bumpers shaped like Twelfth's head and whatnot came along a couple of years later.
Now, the THIRD video you posted? I've legitimately never seen that before, somehow. That strange music, the complete lack of any logic, the fact that it ONLY showcases images from the first two episodes... I really wonder what the hell this was made for! Maybe it was a VERY early trailer?? People in the comments seem to be talking as though the video predates the very first episode airing, so that might be right. But that music and the fade-in/fade-out presentational style of the random scenes makes for something really tonally bizarre.
Anyway.
For anyone reading all of this who is unaware, one thing that's always excited/fascinated me about the pachislot and pachinko machines is that they both contain unique animation sequences made by Asread AND new performances by the anime voice actors. (For example: Here's a fun bit of business where you can watch completely botch his attack on Minene in the second episode and get totally laid out by her, lol.) Oh, and obviously there's lots of new key art/promo art, but that's pretty well-established by now. I wish there was some way to extract all the video and artwork from the device to obtain clean copies... alas.
@sermeno14 made a really good breakdown of the pachinko machine and what we know about it in this post from roughly a year ago. In fact, they're the one who posted the link to that Episode 2 alternate ending originally. There's loads of good info in that post!

|| “The pachi-slot's "story" basically centers on 3 individual campaigns, a Jin campaign, a King campaign and one for Xiaoyu. Each of these protagonists is partnered with another main character for these campaigns, Jaycee for King, Alisa for Xiaoyu, Nina for Jin.”
“ Jin+Nina's is definitely the most dramatic and very much focused on action. Jin and Nina team up for most of the campaign, though each of them has their fair share of solo scenes. There are about 9 major scenes that feature Nina very generously, with 4 of them focusing solely on her. We get a short but beautifully animated scene of Nina swinging a katana, a long and action packed scene featuring Nina and Jin on a highway, riding motorbikes and facing off against a tank(!), and, of course, the obligatory sibling rivalry bit where Nina "sneaks into Central Tower", steals some kind of tube, triggers an alarm, has to face off against Anna and her (or rather Kazuya's G-Corp-) henchmen and escapes by effortlessly wall-running past them, throwing a grenade and jumping through a glass window seconds before the building explodes.”
“ My favourite video has to be the short scene of Nina sitting outside a café, then getting up after noticing the camera (/the player) approaching from behind in her make-up compact mirror, and either (depending on what scene you trigger while playing the game) blowing a kiss at the camera, doing a gunshot motion with her hand or throwing her black lipstick at us, smearing it all over the camera lens. It's one of the shorter scenes and nothing too exciting, but we get the chance to see Nina in a more intimate moment than we are usually used to, in an ordinary everyday public place no less, which is very rare for her. Not only did she change into a nicely fitting black-pants-white-leather-jacket combo, but the whole makeup pocket mirror and lipstick thing certainly reveals the more feminine side of her persona which we only get to see from time to time. ” - source

Resident Raikov expert, where can one hope to find the video of pachislot Raikov? (New to the fandom from the memes, but already incredibly infuriated that the beautiful high-poly models were for a fucking gambling machine)
oh man assigned MORE metal gear character expertise. i am flattered! something something something i know the major better thselkaghsld;gjsdigd no i cant say it i cant say the line
(also i'm not sure if you know how funny it is to say that you got to the fandom from the memes... but if you do... that cracked me up)
anyway i unfortunately don't have a full answer on that one! the problem is that as far as i can tell, he... doesn't really show up. every cutscene video i've come across has a complete skip from the fight with the fury to after the torture scene where big boss loses his eye, which means the part with raikov is skipped over entirely (or perhaps just doesn't show up in the cutscenes...? idk how pachislots work really, maybe he shows up in gameplay or something.) however you can see some of him in the opening cutscenes here, but i honestly don't know where to find the rest... at least not in video format. if gifs and still shots will do, i have those! (unfortunately featuring a brief bit of a certain colonel (no i do not like volgin, so sue me) but sometimes sacrifices must be made)
and yeah it is a goddamn crime that they didnt just remaster mgs3 with those beautiful models. fuck it remaster all the games with those beautiful models. show me high-res mgs2-era raiden right now

The Red Devil’s Chronicles’ April 2022 Devil May Cry News Updates: Merch, DMCV, Impostors, etc.
Tumblr media
Hey, how's it going? Hope everyone had a good Easter. Here are all of the April 2022 Devil May Cry news updates I’ve compiled:
1. Jester on Twitter has been sharing moments from the Devil May Cry 3, 4, and 5 pachislot machines.
2. Devil May Cry V has surpassed 5 million copies sold.
3. A scummy individual has been posing as the voice of Nero, Johnny Bosch, and using his deceased brother as a way to steal money.
4. The company Comeso GmbH is making false copyright claims on many video game and anime media, including Devil May Cry.
5. A Video Game Orchestra event coming to Japan, featuring Devil May Cry 4's Shall Never Surrender.
6. GameRant gives their thoughts about CAPCOM having a hard time passing the Devil May Cry torch to Nero.
7. A series of merchandise from various stores! We have: a) Acrylic keychains, badges, and acrylic stands. b) A pair of Devil May Cry V shoes (as far as I know, only found in the CAPCOM claw machine in Japan). c) Handheld fans and thermoses. d) Prime1Studio's Ex Colour version of their Vergil statue.
My Thoughts On These Updates:
1. It's cool seeing the dynamic themes happening in the cutscenes of these Devil May Cry pachislot games. It'd be cool for CAPCOM to implement those types of scenes in their console games.
2. It's awesome how well Devil May Cry 5 has been doing with their sales. This brings hope of CAPCOM making a Devil May Cry 6 sooner than later.
3. It's so horrible when people do that...Posing as celebrities in an attempt to gain clout and take advantage of gullible individuals. Watch yourselves out there.
4. Now I may be against people using copyrighted content to gain clout or show a lack of support towards creators, but another thing I can't stand are those that make false copyright claims without valid proof that end up getting taken down anyway. There needs to be better moderators out there than A.I or apathetic individuals to deal with this type of stuff.
5. I forgot that there are video game events (besides conventions) like that that happen occasionally. I have my curiosities, but here's hoping that this performance turns out better than what happened here.
6. I can see where GameRant goes with what they're saying. Even I'm having a hard time accepting Nero as a replacement protagonist. In DMCV's ending, it seemed like they did try to push that idea by making Dante and Vergil stuck in the Underworld, but we'll see what Devil May Cry 6 brings if they ever make that game. In a way I can see them escaping faster than expected, but you never know with their ideas. Either they become brief cameos, unlockable characters, or have their own gameplay and story levels.
7. So many wonderful merchandise that just keep popping up. Speaking of which, I gave in, impulse purchased, and am awaiting shipment on this wonderful figure.
