First time in a long time I've drawn for the fun of it. This is a Pakicetus, a very early descendant of whales. They looked a bit like a mix of a canine and a tapir. Very cute. Water is so hard to do, so this doesn't look fantastic, but it was fun to paint regardless.

Except that big one in the top right, I don’t know what it is but it kinda reminds me of a thylacine🤷

Pakicetus (whale of Pakistan) may seem like a strange name for this wolf-like animal from around 50 million years ago, but in fact this relative of Indohyus is one of if not the earliest member of the clade Cetacea, the order of whales. Pakicetus was well adapted for a semi-aquatic lifestyle, with a sleek hydrodynamic build, heavy bones, and possibly webbed toes. As the name suggests, Pakicetus was endemic to Pakistan and fed on fish and other small animals in and around the water.

i finally decided to buckle down and make the pakicetus oc ive been wanting for a loooong time. ill prob end up adding more to this design later but im happy with what it's at right now. i took HEAVY inspo from the fossil fighters Paki, mostly with the whale tail, cause i think it's absolute peak design. ill crank out a ref sheet pretty soon and have everything all nice n tidy for Her <3

Petra the Pirate Pakicetus! Because who doesn’t love a good ol anthro pakicetus? She’s a new OC for the FNAF RP server, who’s part of an extinction exhibit that funds a local paleontology group, wahoo!

I chose Pakicetus as her species of basis, because that thing evolved into a full-on whale within 20 million years. That thing was DESPERATE to go in the ocean.
