I know you've touched on it in your Gamzee Essay/general alternative timeline post but may I hear some more about your ideas regarding GamTav (or only Tavros)? You get these two in a way the broader fandom doesn't (which is fine, I'll still reblog even the most vanilla ooc art of them) so I'd really love hearing more of your thoughts:3

Ok, I think this is going to be someeewhat controversial, but I think they're destined for pale together, despite Gamzee's initial flushed flirting. I did in fact reread ALL of Tavros's logs for this.

I think the first thing we need to establish is that Tavros actually feels really shitty about himself. It's obvious that his problem is "self-esteem," since he's constantly prattling on about it, but there's a bit he says as Tavrossprite that's pretty enlightening as to where his actions stem from:

He has a mixture of self-loathing and social anxiety, the latter of which exacerbates the former, as his mind tells him that his friends secretly hate him. However, his real problem is what he then does with those feelings - he avoids them and the situations that cause them. This causes two major knock-on effects: the first is that he actively ends up distancing himself from people who ARE nice to him and DO care about him, only adventuring with Vriska because he's a pushover and she's very pushy (he adventures completely alone up until that point, and winds up sleeping almost all the time afterwards); the second being that, because he refuses to actually sit with and address his negative feelings about himself (or anything else), he's never able to fix them, or remove himself from shitty situations.

Something consistent with Tavros is that every time he tries to make a decision before his death and Vriska-prototyping, it's by trying to rely on something external - whether that's his imaginary friend, his robot legs, or the story of Pupa Pan... or relying on advice from Kanaya, or seeking approval and forgiveness from Vriska, or earning flushed interest from Jade. He believes himself to be deeply flawed and untrustworthy, so he allows other people to make his decisions, and when relationships do get intimate enough that someone might get him vulnerable, he peaces out. Even his ill-fated attempt to kill Vriska is heavily encouraged by Vriska herself:

As we see with Jade, whom he's attempting to flirt with flushed, he's actively trying to impress her using "self-esteems" explicitly gained from "fake" things he's acknowledging as fake - that is, refusing to be genuine and vulnerable with her, because he doesn't believe anyone would like him the way he actually is.

His "dating" Vriska in the dream bubbles is also dubious and one-sided at best, as John calls him out for faking it and Tavros isn't willing to bring up wanting the Ring of Life because he was planning to propose to Vriska. Thus, once more, he's attempting to use something disingenuous (in this case, a human proposal) to win another person's affection, which he believes would be a symbol of actualizing his "self-esteem".

We also literally see him do the "deciding someone wasn't actually important to you after all, so it hurts less when you cut them off before they can hurt you emotionally by noticing your flaws" thing with Nepeta - he actually quite likes Nepeta, and would certainly have enjoyed having her play the game with him, but he assures her that it's not a big deal basically immediately, and insists he'll just find someone else:

But, perhaps most strikingly, is the way he leaves his good friend Gamzee on read after Gamzee suggests... gasp... intimacy.

It freaks him out, and he's never seen hanging with Gamzee again. And this is a huge shame, because not only is Tavros one of the only people who is nice to Gamzee and appreciates his religious beliefs, but Gamzee is one of the only people who hears out Tavros's genuine insecurities and desires without making fun of him:

He isn't able to do a REAL self-confidence at least until he gives Vriska the bird and flies away, for the first time asserting that he thinks she's an asshole and doesn't actually want or need her validation or approval. After that, he's able to convince a ghost army to follow him using friendship and asking and niceness. Breath powers! Also Page powers! Also actual self-esteems! Although I don't personally hold anything after Game Over as anything more than soft canon, I think we can still see a fairly straightforward character arc reach a natural conclusion there.

But as to why I specifically think him and Gamzee are destined for pale, despite what appears to be flushed leanings from Gamzee's end, and despite the fact that I usually believe what the comic tells me, is because what brief few interactions we see between them are very much pale in nature, and it would be kind of narratively bizarre if Gamzee were set up to have a failed moirallegiance - the quadrant described as "soul mates" - without managing to find his real soul mate after. And who's it going to be? Equius? Or the guy that Gamzee literally says he feels "at chill with" talking to?

Gamzee kissing Tavros's corpse is often used as evidence for his desire for flushed, but I disagree - however Gamzee feels about Tavros romantically, kissing a dead player is how you revive them, so it reads to me - especially given how sad Gamzee is about Tavros dying - more like a desperate act to bring him back. Lest we forget, Terezi also gives it a try, and Karkat kisses Kanaya for the same reason - the reality that their extra lives are gone hasn't sunk in yet for these 13 year old kids, so they must try revival even if they know it won't work.

Moreover, Gamzee indirectly describes Tavros as his "best friend," after having called Karkat that through most of the game, and having an implied pale crush on Karkat during that time.

He feels safe with Gamzee, enough to take a bit of an attitude with him, enough to open up about his insecurities about his disability and how much he wishes he was like Pupa Pan, and Gamzee explicitly states he feels calm when he talks to Tavros, which is the stated function of a moirallegiance.

And the thing is, trolls are constantly getting into moirallegiances when they want to be flushed (Eridan, Kanaya), having palecrushes when they want to be friends (Gamzee), and winding up flushed with their moirail (pale solfef is forshadowed in the same breath as pale erikar, and they don't seem to confirm a matespritship until after Sollux's actual flushed crush, Aradia, explodes). Especially for Gamzee, who was neglected by his lusus and struggles with social interaction to the point where he feels like he has to hide his real self (casteist beliefs, constant talk of religion and murder, which, by the way, come out when he talks to Tavros), it'd be easy for him to mistake the "instinctive attraction" of moirallegiance for the passions of matespritship.

These thoughts are all pretty disorganized - I'm really sorry, it's super late/early for me and I'm exhausted for other reasons - but I hope that that . was what you wanted? hahah

Hey gamtav enjoyers hear me out

Now I'm on the fence about gamtav myself, I think tavros died too soon for me to make up my mind about it (though maybe there's more of him later idk) but here's the thing.

A lot of people include a lot of diamonds in gamtav art on Tavros' side. Including Hussie at some point I think. Now, fandom misinterpretation of moiralliegance as friendship aside, Tavros and Gamzee were never morails, unless Gamzee was cheating on Karkat, which I honestly don't buy.

These diamonds are usually used in the context of Tavros being oblivious to Gamzee's crush or not knowing how to react to that. But y'all forget, moiralliegance is still a form of romance, and since Tav and Gamzee were never moirails, you can't write it off as Tav not understanding the fact that his moirail is flushing for him.

Tavros WANTS Gamzee. Romantically. Just maybe not in the same quadrant as Gamzee wants to be with him.

Of course, if you wanted to write Gamtav but still use this concept, you could say that one of them had confused feelings. Or that Tavros convinced himself that his feelings for Gamzee were pale so he would have an excuse not to confess, since Gamzee already had a moirail. Or good ol' quadrant vacillation, I feel like we forget that can happen.

But just keep in mind what it implies if you have Tavros questioning diamonds in a redrom Gamtav post

1. the only thing really coming to mind is gamtav. it’s really easy for me to understand the appeal of most homestuck ships so it was hard to pick something here. and even the i don’t dislike gamtav at all i just can’t really see it requited? i think it’s cute one sided though. oh also specifically red scourge sisters. they absolutely vacillate pale/pitch no one can change my mind.

9. realizing my list of homestuck characters i don’t like much are blue women who are mean to jake. my overall least favourite is jane honestly just because i really really like jake and any interaction between the two of them is ROUGH. i definitely hate her less than i used to cuz really the alpha kids have the worst communication issues ever so i can’t really blame her but i just don’t like her much. i also have a love hate relationship with both serkets because they make me furious but also they’re a bit silly. vriska especially has been growing on me since i’ve been reading homestuck to my sister and she’s just such a fun character to voice that it’s making me like her a little more. aranea is in a similar position i think. it’s funny actually when she first showed up my sister was like ‘why don’t you like her? does something happen later?’ and we’re in the middle of her revival arc rn and last night she went ‘yea i hate aranea now’. just think that’s funny.

24. i have recommended homestuck to ppl in the past, but it kinda depends on if the have enough of an autistic vibe i think. on a few occasions i’ve tried to get a friend to read it cuz she writes AMAZING fic (and original work too she’s slay) and i think if she were into homestuck she could fuck up the striders a lil. as a treat.

Tavros Nitram was a pathetic troll, but he could dream. He knew that everyone looked down on him, and he hated it. It made him feel worse than he already did about himself. Not even Rufioh could help him, some days, as he fell deeper and deeper into an all-consuming sadness. Gamzee's messages, asking for silly and ear-hurting rap battles, asking him about Fiduspawn - even though Tavros knew the clown wouldn't understand the things he explained - were left unanswered. He had little motivation to do anything, let alone something that might well bring about yet more discrimination. It wasn't his fault that he was confined to a wheelchair, nor that he was just a bronzeblood. As if his life wasn't hard enough, nobody liked him much. He yearned for friendship.

The bronzeblood had done his best to fulfil the role he had been given, though he knew it was too little. He tried to do a lot of things, and did them well, but nobody seemed to acknowledge what he did unless it became necessary. The only exception was when it became somehow beneficial to them in turn. He felt utterly useless. Even though his animal-control powers were useful, the other trolls around him thought it only a gimmick. Though his abilities were strong, and he could manipulate even strong beings such as GCat, it left much to be desired. The stronger his abilities, the more susceptible he was to control himself. Ceruleanbloods, as far as he knew, had troll-control, as Aranea had controlled Gamzee, and he had been controlled by Vriska herself. It terrified him. He needed security, friendship and a lot of assistance, none of which he had.

He had tried for all his sweeps to grow stronger, to prove that he was actually capable of being known as more. More was what he wanted, but he knew he'd never have. Tavros was simply too low on the Hemospectrum to amount to anything much. Despite his 'magic', Tavros was left very vulnerable to the influence of others. He wasn't very outgoing, either, which made it even harder for him to get by. He knew that no one would want to help him, and his only friend - Gamzee - was usually so... drunk, in his own state of needing to be cared for, that he wouldn't be any help. The only person who could help him, he believed, was Vriska, and she seemed to want a kismesitude with him some days. He didn't want to say that he hated her, or loved her, but feelings of... some description always stirred in him when she was nearby.

"i, COULD HAVE BEEN, HER mATESPRIT,,,"

Tavros muttered aloud, alone in his hive as always. He would have settled for moirails, even. He could have talked to Gamzee, sure, but he didn't want to disturb the highblood. He felt like he was a burden to his friends, and it was not likely that it - Tavros' viewpoint of himself - would change any time soon due to his very poor self-esteem. He sat in his chair, up against a wall to stop himself from rolling about without anyone to help. It was a pain, being paraplegic, but it couldn't have been helped. He wasn't regretful of his FLARPing adventures in the slightest, as they had provided an experience a rustblood like himself would never have dreamed of. He had found his place, he thought, when he had been there and FLARPing. The trolls he had considered his friends were mainly Vriska and Gamzee, both of whom had FLARPed with him.

Bending down - slowly - to scoop some Fiduspawn cards from the floor, he realised that he couldn't quite reach them in his chair. Fiduspawn, too, was one of his many hobbies, though others thought he was a giant nerd for playing it. It had been a passion of his for many a sweep, and he had no intention of ever giving it up, because of how happy it made him feel. Sure, with his natural abilities, he knew that he could just make any animal his friend, but it made him feel guilty and wasteful. He had always hated riding any animal he communed with, as it felt like he was taking advantage of the creature instead of guiding it. He exhaled in a soft sigh of frustration, rolling to face the unkempt pile of strewn cards on the floor. He rolled cautiously onto his front wheels, careful not to tip over as he bent down a little further, pain sparking through his whole body.

"oUCH,,,"

Tavros stammered, his voice quiet but obviously pained. He rolled back up to the wall and straightened in his wheelchair, shuddering with the strain of having bent in such a way. His eyes drooped from the fatigue. Everything was burning. He had no idea of the fate that he'd face when his group fled to the Veil, and could only dream of the robotic legs that Equius would make for him. He groaned quietly, having to force his eyes to remain open. With jerking movements, obviously unstable, he rolled himself over to his desk. He needed to get help, and that meant getting support. He knew that there was only one troll who would listen to him and come to assist him as such a time. Aradia was another possibility, but she actually scared him to some degree. She was out of the question. In addition, he had no idea where she was. Nobody really did, as she was a mystery.

Tavros flinched as a few slow, dragging knocks on the door of his respiteblock signalled the arrival of somebody. He was beginning to panic, as he hadn't filled his strife specibus yet. The lance he used beforehand was somewhere else in paradox space, being used by someone else entirely. He didn't know this, though. He glanced around, as much as his drooping eyes had allowed him before they widened in fear. The knocks repeated a few times, somehow more insistent even though they were slower. The troll outride the door, whoever it was, didn't bother to speak, which made his heart skip a beat. He backed - rolled, rather - away from the door, aware of the fact that it was a discourteous thing to do, but not caring much. He'd rather be safe than dead or terrified. Finally, after a moment, a reassuringly familiar voice called out.

"TaV-bRo, CaN yOu OpEn ThE dOoR?"

It was the clown, sure enough. Guilt wreathed Tavros in that moment, as he hadn't responded to any of Gamzee's messages, and thus left the purpleblood hanging. It was bad of him, and the regret made itself known as a flush adorned his cheeks. He rolled to the door, carefully and slowly doing so because fatigue was starting to take over once again. After his initial fright waking him up a little, tiredness threatened to swamp him for the second time in that short period. He kept silent, mainly because of the fact his throat was rendering every attempt Tavros made to speak utterly inaudible. The rustblood didn't have the loudest voice in the first place, but this was a few notches below that. The lowerblood shuffled through his cards, having picked up another pile, bringing himself over to the table almost as slowly as his dear friend talked. He spread them out on the table, eyes shining as he looked at them, each and every one preserved in small sleeves that he had been given by Vriska after one of their particularly successful FLARPs. She had actually been proud of him. Never again would she be. OK so did talk abt it some here, but im gonna go more in depth with a couple things!!

So, to start off with a bit of trivia: The formatting of the title is based off of coding, where the single quotation marks would be put around a character that you’re inserting into the line of code. What I’m doing in my story is im inserting my characters into the narrative ;-)) hehehe

My human OC, Page, is a Mage of Rage. She has an Uncle (whose name is Paul), that by weird time shenanigans, isn’t everything that he appears to be. Behind the inane interest in baseball and fishing lies a mystery which is just a bunch of bullshit i made up!!!! Besides that, heres some more trivia: her classical element is electricity (which technically is just a combination of fire and air but idc), and her associated item is gold, which is a good conductor for electricity (i think), and the letters for gold on the periodic table are AU! :-) She’s a Prospit dreamer, and her planet is the Land of Nod and Thunder (LONAT), and her denizen is Marsyas (that satyr that challenged the god of Light Apollo to a music duel, lost, and then got flayed on a tree). I very much accidentally made her a characterized parallel for Rose (Mages are speculated to be the active counterpart to Seers, i view Rage and Light to be similar opposites (two sides of the same coin if you will >:]), the whole thing with her denizen and his hatred of Light, her color is yellow which is parallel to purple on the color wheel, and then they pallet swap when they go godtier), soooooooo PageRose canon??? im very much kidding, but Rose is definitely a part of Page’s personal quest of self discovery. (I also just wanted to mention that she is a gamer and has an entire blog dedicated to shitting on GameBro)

Her patron troll is Tavros, and her Exile is the Writ Keeper/White King. I like to think that they mirror eachother, like how AR and Terezi are both all about justice, and they both guide Dave, or how WQ and Kanaya are both maternal figures in some way, and they both guide Rose. She also interacts with Gamzee quite a bit, both on Pesterchum during her game session and in the dreambubbles while shes traveling on the prospitian ship to the Alpha universe. They’re both rage players, and the other rage players that we’ve seen have some kind of connection to Lord English, but that may just be because they’re part of the juggalo cult or whatever, but i do think theres a connection, like how time and life players are also connected to Lord English. I do want Page and Tavros to have some kind of quadrant, either flushed or pale, but GamTav will also be endgame, so make of that what you will ;0)

This is gonna sound weird, but I'm so picky about end game gamtav that it ALMOST creeps into notp territory. It's really, really hard for me to enjoy endgame/Earth C gamtav unless it's very specifically done. It's so hard for me to see a future for Gamzee at the end of Act 7. They're at such points in their lives that I absolutely would NOT want to see them in relationship immediately at the end of canon. There would need to be countless amounts of emotional progress, growth, and/or redemption on their own terms first, THEN they can get together :3

Not a notp, but I am pretty strictly pale gamkar. Not a flushed gamkar person, but I still find it cute so shrug???

I realized recently why I think Gamzee is so good for Karkat.With almost anyone else Karkat talks with, Karkat gets push back in some way, and I’m not saying that’s a bad thing! Or that it’s bad for Karkat! I was just thinking about that one chance Gamzee got to calm Karkat down post murderstuck and it was Karkat literally just so ready to fight and Gamzee is just “nah man :o( just maybe thinking you should try to calm down a little” and Karkat just seemed... so floored? By the lack of fight? And he’s basically just, “OH. RIGHT. OKAY. YEAH, YOU’RE MY MOIRAIL. YOU’RE SUPPOSED TO CALM ME DOWN. OKAY. I’M CALMING DOWN.”

And it just made me think of Karkat not knowing how to deal with Gamzee’s lack of pushback so he just... runs out of steam? Because he has no conflict to cycle off of? And idk it just makes my heart soft...

And speaking of opposite moirails, Karkat is just the HIGHEST strung motherfucker while Gamzee can be THE most pliable pile of soft goo. They balance each other :’D

My fluffy pairing for them - Not a romantic ship, but I adore a familial relationship between Gamzee and Calliope and Caliborn. Either with him just really caring about them as babies or AU's where he can be more of a dad to them (CALLIOPE SEEING GAMZEE AS A DAD POST CANON FUCKS ME UP DON'T TOUCH MEEE I'M IN THE THROES OF EMOTION.) Or humanstuck AU's where he's actually their dad, older brother, or adopts them ugh they get me. Dads who don't know what they're doing, all they know is they care a lot and trying their best? So good.

OH AND I GO STARK RAVING MAD FOR PARENT/CHILD DYNAMIC KARAKO AND GAMZEE. OLDER TEEN/YOUNG ADULT KARAKO TAKING IN TINY BABY GAMZEE??? AHHHHHHHHHHH???????

My angsty pairing for them - This is just copy pasted from my Terezi ask:

 If I don't fully indulge with bffs Gamzee and Terezi in an AU, then I love me some ashen Gamzee♣️Rose♣️Terezi when it comes to more canon compliant material. With how upset over his qudrants Gamzee was in openbound? Plus it being post murderstuck? PLUS Rose having to deal with some of the most difficult trolls? I feel like there's a whole slew of really delicious angst just waiting there. A Gamzee afraid of losing Karkat, a Terezi lost in her guilt over killing Vriska, and both tearing into each other in some ugly, misdirected pitch flirting, Rose would absolutely have her hands full and probably get a kick out of it. I also love the idea of Rose just seeing it as a fun social learning experience "oooh troll quadrants and getting to play therapist" type thing, but then she really starts to understand the depth of the bonds ashen relationships have and she really comes to care so much for both of them.

Honorable mention to pitch Aradia♠️Gamzee with Gamzee being full on servant of Lord English and Aradia trying to be the keeper of time and the two of them meeting and clashing over and over throughout time and space as two opposing forces.

My favorite poly ship for them - Oooh, ho ho ho, love me some Gam♥️Equius♥️/♠️Tavros. Gamzee adores Equius so much tbh. Gamzee was just a huge sweetheart to Equius pre-game and just loved talking to him. Equius seemed pretty pitch (and I love Gamzee♠️Equius) towards him, but I think I like the idea of Equius letting himself be loved and recieve soft red affection from Gamzee is so cute.

I have a lot more thoughts about them, but it mostly focuses on Tavros and Equius’ dynamic, so I’ll save it for my Tavros ask.

My weirdest pairing for them - Probably the weirdest I've got for Gamzee is him pailing his auspistice, Arsast Aporia, a fantroll from Miracle Child. I call it "The Naughty Auspistice" series. It really all started while talking about the idea of Gamzee and Arsast kissing in a hypothetical game of truth or dare and then they realize, "Uh oh, they kind liked it," then Arsast gets the funky idea to distract Gamzee's desire to pail Sephar (the other ashmate), by pailing Gamzee himself. It's just... I've explored 'rails with pails before, but this is this the first time considering clubs who pail (there's probably a more clever term for it out there). It's just some silly thing I've come to really enjoy eheheh, especially with the social inappropriateness of it and them kind of needing to sneak around to do it.

Dirkjake- I headcanon that Jake liked watching Dirk work on his projects, and following their reconnection, he starts to fall back into the habit. Dirk is oblivious (for now), but likes Jake’s company.

Jasperosesprite^2/Jane- She probably just thinks Jasperose is trying to snatch a cookie. Poor Jane was very confused about Nanasprite’s teasing later.

Arafef- They probably just finished excavating some underwater ruins and Aradia’s thanking Feferi for her help in her usual enthusiastic manner. These two bonded over this project, and when it’s finished, the two girls still find ways to hang out and Feferi continues to help Aradia explore Earth C, and eventually, love just kinda blooms between them.

I imagine this would be a healthy bond for both of them, with Feferi being able to move on from Sollux and overcome her repressed jealousy towards Lilith, and Aradia finding someone who is able to match her spirited attitude while keeping her grounded. They come to enjoy the life they have together, chilling on the porch of Feferi’s beach cottage, watching the sun set below the waves.

Vrisrezi- I like the pale approach with these two, but I also like the idea of them being a total quadrant clusterfuck. No one knows if they’re flushed, pale or pitch, and neither of them intend on clarifying any time soon. This is after Vriska finally gives up on pitch flirting with Lilith and gets used to a life of simplicity. Even though she’s occasionally bitter over being ursurped narratively, Vriska’s still pretty happy with where she is in life, and that she can still be her chaotic self with her equally chaotic gf.

Erisolsprite/Lyelithsprite aka the weirdest ship I’ve ever come up with- These two don’t even show up in the canon fic, but because all the sprites (minus Fefetasprite, who’s vibing in the Dream Bubbles as two tight af individual ghosts) make it to the end, I thought it would be fun to ship these green bastards.

Lyelithsprite is not made up of a dead Lyerre and Lilith (Null and Liminal Players don’t have dead selves) but instead a culmination of their lost lives. Lyelithsprite is much more naive and sweet, like Lilith and Lyerre were pre-game, and is the “Harbringer” aka they were created with the sole purpose of gathering the scattered sprites and helping them reach the platform. They’re created shortly after Lilith and Lyerre jump back and redo Lilith’s timeline, and run into Erisolsprite first. He bitches at them for a bit, but eventually tags along while Lyelithsprite travels to a specific spot in the Medium where they can summon all the sprites. As the two continue along, Erisolsprite winds up bonding with them and grows emotionally attached. Following an event in the fic, Lyelithsprite manages to complete their task, but dies, leaving Erisolsprite bitter, alone and heartbroken over the loss of his friend.

In the [HOME] ending, Lilith finds Lyelithsprite and brings them to Liminal Space, where the two are happily reunited. Erisolsprite stubbornly insists that his feelings are thanks to Sollux and Eridan’s growing flush crushes on Lyelithsprite’s living pieces, but everyone knows that’s bullshit.

roxygen: it’s a cute ship...but the sequal vers is garbage considering how inconsiderate roxy is to john’s feelings and his house burning down like damn rox this is the guy who sat with ya as ya mourned doom rose’s death give the guy some fuckin time himself.

rosemary: also cute ship...sequal versions are fuckin godawful tho. their barely a thing in meat from wha i can gather and then there’s candy...oh CANDY kanaya deserves better fuck this sense of her sayin she’s over it idc if it was off screen, even then half the cast ate stupid pills during that time so WHY must i be surprised that this is wha happens?

dave/kat: i dun like it. in either universe. meat is just perfect gay bois who have occasional deep talks and literally do nothing else while candy they split up thanks to jade which, geez ya guys must’ve been shit to tell her to fuck off like come on. og hs wise i barely consider them canon if we only get pictures and them just being on equal footing on quadrant talk. not to mention dave implied to be crushing on jade and JOHN not karkat, idk where this couple even came from other then love triangle situation with terezi but like, that’s barely much of a reason to become canon. i’d go with em bein pale/moirails more.

janejake: i hate it. legit. this is disgusting and completely throws out jane’s character. like even in the fixed timeline the talk she had with dirk probably still happened on the god bed’s and how she acknowledged wha she thought was wrong on wantin jake’s kids and so on trickster still happened and how she also realized she might’ve overhyped jake. but lets throw it ALL out the window to force jake in an unhappy marriage in both universes and possibly force him to stay in candy due to having tavvy if i’m reading the implications right. even then jake isn’t good for jane either both got their own needs this ship would’ve been sunked in canon and WAS but the sequals are beyond it so maybe that explains it but it disgusts me.

roseterezi: guess in meat specifically. yeah i kinda dont...care for it, like i still cant tell if rose and kanaya broke up or if she just fucked off without breaking up either one is fucked up on kan’s behalf. even then i just dont care for their kismesis it got brought up once and that was it.

GamTav Week Day Seven: Free Day

OK LISTEN I really like this asethetic for these two. It’s my favourite. And this one’s actually shippy right now, even if only pre-dating it’s the best one.

It takes them a while, more than a while, to drift back into each other’s spheres of existence.

They’d both been doing different things with their lives; becoming trolls that they could be happy with without the attachment of flushed or pitched quadrants. That didn’t mean that they didn’t date though, Gamzee knew that he’d dated a number of individuals, troll and human alike, just to get the taste of what he’d wanted in a partner down, to learn to enjoy sharing himself without someone that wanted to know him for however long they lasted.

And he knew from the grapevine that Tavros had been doing the same.

There’s nothing really special that draws them back towards each other in the matter of quadrants.

Karkat had been convinced into throwing a party by his boyfriend Dave and Dave’s girlfriend Jade for some event or another and they’d all been invited, Gamzee had spent most of the night making small talk with those that weren’t outwardly hostile towards him and avoiding near everyone else. All and all it’d been a fun night.

He didn’t know who approached who first, if either of them had or if they’d just gravitated together like magnets that recognized the other’s charge as opposing to their own.

That hardly mattered in the end though, not when Tavros was standing in front of him, looking like he’d finally grown into the proud, imposing length of his horns, not to mention into the size of them, towering over Gamzee in both height and the breadth of his shoulders, a feat only one other troll had a claim to.

“Yo,” Gamzee decided to be the first to speak, ending their silent inspection of each other; instinct to check out the competition left over from their days on Alternia he was sure.

“Hey,” there wasn’t even a beat of hesitation to the answer, to Tavros’ willingness to talk to him. It reminded Gamzee keenly of their younger sweeps, back when they’d both been innocent and largely unmarred by the world around them. It was nice in the way that old memories were once they stopped hurting you. “I didn’t know you uh, you were drinking.”

“I’m not,” Gamzee couldn’t help but snort, remembering the support meetings and life coaching sessions he still attended on a regular basis to stop himself from sliding back into the addiction that had been ingrained in his very image of himself since before he could remember. “S’apple juice. Strider specialty.”

“Oh, that uh, that explains it.” Tavros looked a little flustered at that, a soft bloom of bronze on his cheeks, but easily laughed off as conversation continued. “What have you been doing since we uh, since we last…”

“Since we was speakin last?” The offered words were taken with a small self-conscious smile, acknowledged without needing to be said as such. “Been good, workin’, makin a routine for myself and bein all productive like ya’know?”

“Yeah I uh, heard from Equius that you opened your own place?”

A painted brow rose. “You two been talkin ‘bout me, have ya? S’a weird topic a pillowtalk.”

“What?!” That has him, colour spreading deep and bright over Tavros’ nose and the top of his cheeks, the spread of it to his ears obvious with the way the other troll cut his hair. “N-no! No not like that at all! I, I mean—”

“Chill bro, s’all good,” he chuckled, Tavros deflating from his flurry of justification and explaining with a sigh. “I ain’t real carin how and what other motherfuckers say ‘bout me, s’all cool.”

They lapse into quiet, Tavros focusing down on the glass of something definitely alcoholic in his own hand while Gamzee turned his head to inspect one of the nearby food platters, debating if he was hungry enough to try one of the oddly coloured creations.

“It wasn’t that though,” Tavros broke the quiet as Gamzee decided to just go for it, a piece of cracker with something on it in his claw.

“Hmm?”

“It wasn’t uh, wasn’t pillowtalk. He and I were just catching up the other day and he uh… told me about when he ran into you.”

“He does that a lot,” Gamzee hummed, playing at being more focused on what was in his hand than the troll in front of him. “Ya think for a troll that big he’d been more cautious a where he’s going but nah. Trolls fallin all over under his motherfuckin hooves, yeah?”

“He said you were seeing someone.”

“I’m always seeing some motherfucker,” he pointed one, returning his gaze to Tavros as he tilted his head just so the pretty pale pink diamond stud in his ear could be seen, the violet gem inlaid in it glinting in the light of the room. “Believe you me everyone else is gonna know when Eribro’s tired a me ‘fore I do.”

“No,” the word was accompanied by a rough shake of Tavros’ head, brow furrowing deep. There’s frustration in his voice now, not too uncommon an occurrence for anyone talking with Gamzee for more than a few minutes. “You know for someone that doesn’t like being lied to you sure do a lot of it.”

“You’re the motherfucker beatin’ ‘round the bush like it all up and kicked ya lusus,” Gamzee shot back, surprising Tavros enough for his face to go slack with it. “Iffin ya wanna ask me ‘bout the motherfuckers I was seein, quad or nah, just come out and motherfuckin say it. We’re bein adults now, yeah?”

A pause. A beat. Gamzee’s ready to call this experiment a failure when Tavros spoke up again.

“…Are you seeing anyone now? Flushed-wise I mean?”

“Solbro and I vacillate on an’ off but ain’t got nobody permanent in there nah..”

Tavros nods and Gamzee goes back to inspecting the morsel in his claws, stepping forward into the other troll’s face as he opens his mouth to speak again, lifting it until it was resting just before the other’s mouth, claws near brushing warm lips as they parted.

“Try this for me?” Gamzee offered, cocking his head and staring up at Tavros, watching and waiting to see exactly what the bronze would do with the offering.

Tavros reacted exactly as he should have, colour on his cheeks as he leaned forward ever so slightly to take the piece of food into his mouth between his teeth, lips brushing over Gamzee’s fingers as he took the bite.

“How’s it tastin?” Gamzee asked after watching Tavros chew the morsel he’d bitten off, blinking as the other troll nodded down at him.

“It’s uh… it’s good.” He said, all the answer Gamzee needed, humming and popping the rest of the piece into his mouth, more than aware of Tavros staring at him in return.

“It is,” he agreed, dragging his tongue purposefully over his own claws, fully aware of Tavros watching him. “Mayhaps ya should try some more for me yeah? There’s supposed ta be some new restaurant openin near my hive, ya should come and try it out with me yeah?”

“… Ye… yeah!” Tavros nodded, wide smile back on his face, bronze spreading across his cheeks. “Yeah I’d uh… I’d really like that.”

“Cool,” he purred. “We can be chattin at each other later ta be deciding times, yeah?”

my very FIRST ship was karezi but i dont ship it as much anymore, but i still do get the Nostalgia Pangs. as for a ship that i currently ship v hard that would be davekat, ive shipped them for 8ish years? and counting! :D junedave would also be up there but i wasnt to wild about it back then, junedave was def v weird in fandom in 2012-2013 lol. i mean so was davekat but june was just so...... meh u kno? like she was not even june anymore, fanon june was horrid

any ship that involves a dancestor, but leb8ifins definitely. i have to ignore a lot of canon to even like a dancestor tbh. i also like to ignore the epilogues because i still havent read them :)

Is there a ship you like but you dislike the fandom?

i guess gamtav has rights... i just dont like to see what fandom hands me in regards to gamzee and tavros tbh. idk i dont like when theyre baby-ified like theyre assholes let them be assholes lol. two jerks in love bonding over their traumas u kno. plus whenever gamzee dates a person it always ends up bad so its like tavros u ok there buddy... u gonna be good there... i guess gamzee fans ignore a lot of canon tho to like him haha. can relate, i like jane. (oh i didnt mention but sometimes i see really gross stuff? and its usually tied to that ship, so i guess its like a red flag or something even when i see a normal picture because i Remember)

I'LL ADMIT tavros is my favorite character for unknown reasons (but fuck gamtav ew) but the fandom's treatment of female characters who had the same amount of screen time (OR LESS, seeing as we get small amounts of him as a sprite and ghost) is so weird. i never see feferi unless it's a group shot or saying she was the devil, nepeta is nonexistent unless it has to do with equius, aradia is a ghost literally fandomwise, but. these characters were just as good if not better than the boys, the (1/

bias is so obvious. ESPECIALLY with eridan imo since he like........... he had a few wizard jokes, talked about genocide, then killed his friends and the future of his species and then died and we never see him again except as the erisol sprite. yet people love him??? i genuinely dont understand it. where is my nepeta and feferi love............ people are so dumb. all the homestuck girls have braincells and the boys have to share 1 braincell thats why theyre better

its true though. its like, yes, there’s always going to be people who choose to hardcore stan characters like *spins wheel* zebruh from friendsim but logically speaking the trend for fancontent and shit like that should increase depending on like, how good / Relevant a ship or character is? like if you look at the boys, dave and john and karkat obviously get the most fan content because they’re the ones who get the most dialogue / screentime and they’re better written, yeah? and d*vekat gets HEAPS of fancontent because it’s sort of THE endgame mlm ship in this scenario and it has that friends to lovers Bros Being Bros bullshit that everyone loves.

the most relevant / prolific and best written female characters are, imo, vriska and terezi, and then rose jade (though jade gets shafted) kanaya aradia. and the content we see of vriska pales in comparison to how many like, dave drawings there are. or whatever. same with most of the girls actually. if every girl has an equivalent boy who shares around the same amount of screentime / plot relevance / Good Writing, the boys always win out

you can see this in the fact that rosemary is the only f/f ship in the top 10 on ao3 and a LOT of the ones in that tag have background rosemary with a m/m ship in the foreground. rosemary have just as interesting a relationship as davekat imo but they get far less focus. and vrisrezi isn’t even IN the top 10 even though again their relationship is LITERALLY PIVOTAL to homestuck and also is far more dynamic and interesting than like any other ship in homestuck. like lets be real

also like, re: minor characters. the same trend should sort of apply right? but i have seen HEAPS MORE tavros stans than i have seen specifically nepeta or feferi stans....... wack

like, why tf does SOLLUX appear in more fics than TEREZI. i think this is wild
