Week 31/53: July 27th - August 2nd 2020 | Ball Gown

This week felt so long lol. I had two interviews on Tuesday and I died KJSKDSKLKFSL. Both felt low-key wack..... For one of them I had to walk near farmland for like twenty minutes wearing heels like wtf!!! HELP???! Did some more applications during the rest of the week lmao but I feel like my results are better when I spend more time working on my apps instead of rushing on them (okay no shit Sherlock Xie). I'm so tired of this already lmao idk what I am doing!!!!!! Only working twice a week makes me feel so bored and useless lmao. Good thing I'm gonna work 3 days starting next week lol maybe it will be good for me??? ANYWAYS YAY FOR MORE COIN??? EVEN THOUGH I GTG SUFFER FOR AN EXTRA DAY IT’S OK LOL. Idk..... I'm so lost right now KAJDKSKDLD. On Thursday I met up with Vivian aka my neighbour/cadet bff LOL we used to hang out once a year but we missed 2019 so I thought I'd never see her again but 2020 came through LOOOL. She took me to a random spot near Stevenson for picnic and then we went to Terra Nova to take photos because she's always obsessed with taking photos of skylines luls. This weekend spent w bb as usual ^0^ I made a giant bowl of seaweed rolls on Saturday LOL I rolled four rolls... I USED SO MUCH RICE HAHAHAHHAHA. Time to start a business!!!!!!! On Sunday we went to eat ramen at Ramen Danbo and we waited in line for almost an hour even though we went at 3pm aka a super unusual eating time..... just because we were unlucky SJDJSKKA SMH but the ramen was yum as usual. I got their spicy sesame ramen this time..... yum~~~ (but I think the regular sesame one was better??? I forgot LOL) After eating, we went back to bb's apartment and I gave her a haircut even though she just got one last week but she wanted her hair to be shorter so I helped her cut it again ^^ and it looks pretty cute...... I watched the 2block haircut tutorial like 4 times but in the end I still couldn’t give a proper 2block... sorries babe ;-(( but it still turned out really cute honestly!!! I AM PROUD OF MYSELF HAHAHAHAHA... time to start a hair cutting business too. Tfw low-key jobless so I just wanna start a business out of everything. CEO Lily when?????????? KAO’s one, I know foam dyes don’t usually come out too good and stuff compared to other kinds, but it does pretty well. Does kinda fade after a few washes, but it’s not too bad. Hoyu’s good for dyeing your hair darker, the color comes out a lil’ more than on the box, tho’ can’t tell ya how much that helped me when I got fed up with red over break, among other reasons, and dyed it black. On the plus side, it doesn’t fade so much compared to KAO, guess it’s cuz it’s the one I used was more of a lotion.

          Might recommend Palty for ya instead though, it’ll leave ya smelling less like barbecue n’ more like oranges, bet your friends’ll love that. Anywho, I’ll write down the address an’ stuff for ya. Just don’t cause any trouble for ‘em, or I swear I’ll find you and break your jaw.”

This is my 3rd time to change hair color in a year.

I should have bleached first. I'll do it after a month tho.

Third day of the new year!

Went to hangout with ryan and leighton. They wanted to try marugame udon so!!! Also i saw adam but didnt say hi, oops. In any case. We were like hey let’s do something like walk around! But it rained a little so we bought some cuties from trader joe’s and ended up at ryan’s house and basically sat in his kotatsu for 4 hours then i came home. I also finally know how it feels like when the manga says that your legs get tangled inside the kotatsu. And when you literally cannot get out of it. Plus the feeling of losing the ability to walk because ya gurl tried to stand up after crawling out of the kotatsu and just fell back down What a day LOL

went to portland with alice to check out apartments!!! woot. lots of fun going around/looking at the city. landed on thursday night and waited at the airport for alice and ate mcdonalds/watched the office haha friday: alice had work all day ): so i went out to meet up with yuri and leslie who happened to be out in portland too! walked to the alberta arts district to eat with them at pok pok noi. just walked around afterwards exploring in the rain before getting back home to eat dinner with alice at like 8…lol we went to bamboo sushi in sw and alice treated me to omakase as a congrats on getting my new yob!! woot also did some walking around in the neighborhood - will likely spend quite a bit of time in the powell city of books! saturday: the day we actually went out to see properties! grabbed some blue star donuts and headed into nw district - looked at some apartments and then grabbed lunch at this cute italian place that i will most likely frequent. started talking to alice about stuff and being weak, i cried and then we got free hazelnut ice cream…LOL. it was really good sunday: since we toured places that i actually liked yesterday, we basically just decided to walk around different areas. waterfront park, pioneer square…we spent a while in nordstrom rack and sephora looking for stuff for alice! lol. then dinner again at bamboo sushi and dessert at salt & straw :> monday morning: waking up early to get to the airport for alice’s flight. bought more donuts at the airport for mom! then i sat at the airport watching the office and eating until the airplane ride where i got a whole row to myself~

and that was my portland trip shortened LOL. but~ excited about the new city, definitely excited about the donuts!

February 19th

My first day of work!! Went in earlies and had onboarding for about two hours with amother new hire. Then i returned to my room where i met my coworker and my manager! Both of whom are in the same room and we each have a desk. (Ima have to request a standing desk :O) anywayss. Got a company laptop - thank god it’s not bulky. And then i’ve got two monitors on my desk too! #bless

Then jlw went through more ux stuff with me and i also went to a stand up meeting. Like. Those are real man. Then went to company lunch! Where new hires introduce themselves and i realize that i have never used a dishwasher before and everyone was shookt lol.

Afterwards, i went to a sprint meeting AND BOIIIII PLANNING POKER DOE??? Lololol. I have to say i did not understand a single thing that was going on. Took about an hour and a half…

Anyways. went back in where jlw continued where she left off and then finally let me read some onboarding stuff on my own before she headed out at 4 and then me, leaving swiftly at 4 as well LOL

SO that was my first day! Trying to get everything in order - i hope that everything goes great and that i learn lots and lots! :> although…windows computer already killing me, no wonder people use mouses instead of the trackpad. Also…gotta learn Axure + in depth photoshop so…WOOT WOOT

I went bowling today!! It was an engineering celebration so i thought - why not, let’s be social for a little bit. And it turned out to be fun~ we had some fuds and i played two rounds. palty hair dye review

so, I got really bored and decided to dye my hair. so I decided to pick up some dye at the asian market, because I heard they are better suited to dye black hair. so. here we are!

I got the lightest blonde I could (sparkling blonde), to draw out the color, and then a pretty pinkish brown (sakura creamy) to give a nice pastel shade for spring. I also needed something that could pass as natural as I’m not allowed to have crazy hair for work. 

because I bought the boxes in a store in america, they did have english instructions inside. but if you are an avid at home colorist, it still would have been pretty easy to understand as all the steps were labeled with numbers. one thing I did find to be kind of ingenious was a hole that you could punch through the box to sit the developer in. just so you wouldn’t accidentally knock it off the counter when you were mixing the chemicals. 

here is a picture of my hair before I touched it:

the color closest to my scalp is my natural black, and further down was dyed over the reddish auburn color that I had about six months ago. my hair is naturally extremely dark so I was worried about this not even working, or being so slight it wouldn’t be noticeable. I was wrong. 

I applied the bleach first (sloppily), and let it sit for ~30 minutes. it smelled pretty bad, but I had no irritation when I was letting it sit. and I did get a good amount on my skin because I missed my head at one point, and still didn’t get red or itchy at all. so that was awesome!

half and hour later, I took off my kewl shower cap and immediately realized I did a HORRIBLE job putting the bleach in evenly. which was all user error. I barely got the roots in front, missed entire patches and bleached way too heavily in the middle of my head. 

the kit provided some conditioner to use in the shower when you wash out the bleach, but I did not think there was enough at all. luckily I had some left over conditioner from a previous at home effort, so I used the rest of that and by the time all the bleach was out, my hair did not feel dry at all. 

my hair was an uneven coppery color. it was an unhappy couple of hours while I waited for it to air dry. I really didn’t want to blow dry it, and risk any further damage. 

after my hair was dry, I applied the dye. MUCH MORE CAREFULLY. I sectioned my hair off with clips and brushed it in as evenly as I could. and I used way more dye than I thought was necessary, just in case. I had heard that the palty dyes still have a fair amount of bleach in them, so I was hoping that the dye would help even out the patchiness. 

which it did! so that was good. but my hair was definitely not the pinky brown that the front of the box had advertised. it was still super orange and ginger. but it was definitely more even and my roots were pretty much gone. 

unfortunately the sun had set while I was dying my hair, so these are taken in the bathroom. 

as you can see it’s pretty red. it’s not a bad color, but definitely not what I had been expecting when I took off my shower cap. the big thing for me at least is that the color is (mostly) even, and my hair actually feels pretty soft and healthy. 

also it’s important to remember that even salon colored reds fade pretty quickly, so I probably won’t have this intense of a color for a while. either way, it’s nothing another box of dye won’t fix.
