Some researchers believe that the current pandemic crossed over to humans from pangolins after first infecting bats. In Asia, so called wet markets exist where wild animals like this are sold for meat and slaughtered to order. It’s pretty horrific and if anything good comes out of our current situation I hope it involves shutting down these markets and letting animals like pangolins live their lives in peace.
