Paranoia
Never played sinoalice but got the companions based on it in NieR Reincarnation and I adore Noya sm hes so cute! So is parrah but I'm biased. Also while I was drawing this I was inside drawing because it's windy and I was tired of inhaling my hair at outdoor lunch and I got like jumpscared because these 2 juniors came up and complimented my art and I'm so happy people like this because it's taken me two days LMAO
(Reblogs are appreciated!)

NieR Reincarnation The People and the World Emerald Spoiler Post
This post contains all the juicy developments you should probably not know about if you want to play it yourself but that you probably should know about if you don't want to touch the gacha game with a 9-foot-pole. and trust me: this chapter? wild. open on your own risk. spoilers abound. no really this time.
GIVE IT UP FOR SINOALICE GUYS, THE LIBRARY IS PART OF THE CAGE
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
IT'S NOT JUST VAGUELY SIMILAR IT'S ABSOLUTELY THE SAME THING. I KNEW IT LOOKED FAMILIAR, ESPECIALLY WITH THE RING OF FLOATING BOOK SHELVES BUT IT ONLY HIT ME WHEN REACHING PARRAH AND NOYA
(for context, yurie and 063y go so far into the cage through the distortions caused by the current attack on it they end up in a library - the library - where all the cage's stories are stored as books.)
i was so expecting it to turn into that library again that i wasn't even thinking about sinoalice. and who can blame me, it's not as if i was wrong:
Tumblr media
(btw for those that missed it sinoalice has always been canonically part of drakenier)
also another accord reference (of course it's in F66x's book)
Tumblr media
my absolute favorite thing though is this realistic render of a car at the beginning of the final storybook segment
Tumblr media
it's just there. menacingly.
all in all fantastic chapter. i'm also - of course - expanding my divine summon voice of cards conspiracy board with yurie's new costume (haven't been proven wrong yet!) but i will wait until the model sheet is posted to twitter

In response to your question about SinoAlice's story: basic jist is that every character has a different defining trait and their main goals are all the same- to revive their author, which means they have to kill the other characters/nightmares. And they all want to revive their authors for different reasons, usually respective to their trait (Pino wanting to be told what to do by his author [Dependance], for example)
This is a very loose summary because I don't want to spoil anything (which is why I only used Pino as an example, since you shared screenshots of his story), but that's the basics of it, so I hope it helps. And if you need any other tips about the gameplay itself don't be afraid to ask people, this game isn't the best at explaining and it's fairly hard for beginners to get into it, even with the new updates they've given. Regardless I wish you the best.
Oh thank you for taking the time to stop by and explain, I really appreciate that! I'm glad the first reaction I got wasn't a cascade of insults, my experience with stepping into Pokemon Showdown had already destroyed my expectations akshdkfhdsh
Mostly after having vaguely grasped the premises of the story (which I'd expected to be dark, but not SO dark) my main problems were a) actual game mechanics, since the Parrah-Noya tutorial covered the fighting basics but not, say, how to check inventory/upgrade stuff/pick a grimoire to buy etc. b) in which order I should go through the chapters, AKA if I should do a full character story first and then get to the others or what. Rn I'm doing a few chapter 1s so I have a stable foundation and then I'll see.
It probably didn't help that this is the first game of its kind I play LMAO I was more interested in the story to begin with, I'm not well-versed in the fighting part. Hopefully it doesn't require me to do co-op playing too much to continue with the story, I have no interest in rankings and such.

Sinoalice OC, that was based on Indo-Malay Fables.
Name: Sang Kancil/Kancil/Mouse Deer/The Mouse Deer
Class/Job: Gunner
Gender: Male
Life Force Color: Brownish Orange
Concept:
Mischief (ˈmisCHif)
playful misbehavior or troublemaking, especially in children.
Bio:
Mouse Deer (Kancil) is a cunning, smart and extremely mischievous boy, he loves to trick others or even play dangerous pranks and doesn't really care how others feels. However, deep inside his heart, he just wanted to survive and he knows that he's not strong enough to fight or hunt. The reason why Mouse Deer wants to revive his author is because he wants to be a hero with his mischiefness and make everyone likes him, not hating him or thinking that he's a bad person.
Relationship with others:
Mouse Deer is close with Cinderella (since they were both can be cruel to their enemies) and also Timun Mas (although, it's because she only follows his orders). Snow White and Hamelin literally despise him (Snow thinking that his pranks are equal to injustice, wheres Hamelin thinks that his mischiefness is quite unpleasant, but Mouse Deer thinks that everyone has their own term of beauty). He's also friendly to Red Riding Hood, but he often get scared of her. Mouse Deer also despises Dorothy (considering she is hard to be tricked), Gretel, Rapunzel and Kaguya (he thinks that they are weird)
Fun Fact:
Mouse Deer loves tricking Parrah and Noya, even if they often outsmarted him, but he remained calm
Despite his child like appearance and behaviour, he's actually an adult, his deep voice also indicates that he is not a kid
Although Mouse Deer loves to be a mischievous trickster to everyone in Library, Hamelin often becomes his main target of his pranks
Voice Actor: Megumi Ogata

A deeper look in The Library, Alice Route.
You have come here, stranger. Welcome to the world where there is blood and shadows and hopeless shattered dreams. Come watch these children act out their futile desires like puppets and cry themselves to sleep.
This is the world of SINoALICE and I will be making guesses as we dive deep into each chapter. I must say this again each chapter is split into 10 verses and each verse is start with a prologue, which is the story. You can skip it but for us we are looking at the story through this. There is also some verses have some more story after the battle and little conversations in the middle of it. They are distracting if you just want to fight but if you want to understand what is going on we have to look it. And we will do this verse by verse. Beginning by Alice’s route and going outward.
We must begin with the fact that Alice concept is “Bondage / Restriction” Most of her class images has a chain somewhere on her, circling and connecting her and her weapon in some way. There is also the clock/ gear on her body. Just her image pulls the idea that she is bound to her task, consuming her time to get somewhere or something done. The fact that her main color is black, for us in the western world, can be a color of mourning or death. The fact that she is from the world of Alice in Wonderland makes it very very odd... why would a character that was so colorful (Main colors connected to Alice is White/ Light Blue/ Yellow) is mostly washed out? What exactly happened?
Book 1: Act of Impulse
Chapter 1-1
“Alice woke. She could hear faint noises in the darkness around her. She smelled blood. This world was not her own. But she understood the task at hand. She had to revive her author, Lewis Carroll. And she knew that in order to make her wish come true, she would have to kill many, many others.”
We are started off after being told in the start of loading the game that Alice just woke up here. We do not know the timeline but we must assume that this is when she came to the world of the Library. Coming to this world she understands three things that if we think about it, is very odd.
1. That she has an author, knowing that he is called Lewis Carroll, and that he is dead.
2. The by product is that she is a character in a story and that she is not bothered by this.
3. That this place, where-ever this is, can possibly fulfill her wish to revive L.C. but she must kill to do this, and she is again not bothered by this.
This is something that is very jarring with her nonchalance is waking up in an odd bloody world. You might say that as Alice from Alice in Wonderland, she is use to falling into strange worlds. Okay, that is true. But that does not explain her casual behavior of discovering that she is a character in a book, and that she has to kill is she wants to have her wish. Remember in ‘Alice in the Looking-Glass’ when Alice and Tweedle Dee and Dum are on the chessboard they stumble across the Red King, a chess piece that is sleeping and what we are told is always asleep. Alice is kind of frightened by the Red King anyways and she gets very upset when the Tweedles suggest that she is something that the Red King dreamed up, which will vanish when he wakes. The Tweedles are not saying that she is not a real person to them or to wonderland, but that she is not a true person but a physical dream. She freaks thinking about this.
So why would she, coming to a world and finding out that she is a character proof that she is not a real person, not have a deep mental breakdown but act as if someone told her that the sky is blue? Along with her being okay with murder? Killing not one or two things, but many? This is automatically a departure of the character we know in the story of ‘Alice in Wonderland’ and how we get to know her in ‘SINoALICE.’ Something has happened since then and we are watching the fallout of it in this world. Something that has made Alice into ‘Alice the Bonded.’
She even admits this herself in the fight.
Alice: I know this fight is wrong. But I must for my wish...
Parrah: Good! Good! Kill ‘em all!
Noya: You’re gonna kill ‘em all, right?
What makes me worried is that there is something that we and Alice do not know of this world and that she was pulled in for another reason than her wish to revive her author.

Get a Little Shellfish with SINoALICE's Summer Event and New Classes
Tumblr media
Yoko Taro's dark fairy tale mobile game SINoALICE went global just last month, and it's diving into its first seasonal event: a clam-digging escapade with Sleeping Beauty and the Little Mermaid!
"Poachers' Feast," which first ran on Japanese servers, sets players the task of collecting clams for Parrah and Noya, the creepy marionettes who act as the players' (and characters') guides through the world of the Library. But when Sleeping Beauty and the Little Mermaid meet a friendly clam in search of a family, they have to decide what matters more: friends, or in-game currency.
Tumblr media
Play these special "An End to Summer Dreams" story levels with either Sleeping Beauty or the Little Mermaid to boost specialty weapon skills, and equip one of the campaign's new weapons to earn more medals in each level. You'll start with 500 medals to pick up a new weapon to help you along. Medals can be spent on upgrades for the weapon, a limited-edition Sea Snail Nightmare, and other upgrades. Plus, if you're in a Guild, your combined medals will help you win more upgrades.
The Poachers' Feast Grimoire features the new Poacher class for both Sleeping Beauty (Heavy weapon specialty) and the Little Mermaid (Polearm specialty), along with new weapons for each.

Check out the trailer for the event, featuring Kaede Hondo (Sakura Minamoto in ZOMBIE LAND SAGA) as Sleeping Beauty and Mamiko Noto (Elsa Granhilte in Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World-) as the Little Mermaid.

SINoALICE is currently available for iOS and Android. Overseen by Yoko Taro of NieR and Drakengard fame, the game puts you in control of famous storybook characters, fighting their way through the Library for the right to resurrect their respective author.

Yoko Taro’s New Mobile Game SINoALICE Launches On July 18th Worldwide, Includes Nier Automata Collab
SINoALICE, the mobile RPG with twisted takes on popular fairytale characters, now has a global release date. The game is helmed by the ever-eccentric Yoko Taro, of Nier and Drakengard fame, who knows a thing or two of writing tragedy.
Not only that, it also has been confirmed that Nier Automata’s 2B and 9S will be appearing in SINoALICE as part of a collab.
youtube
Alongside that, Nexon also released a new interview with Yoko Taro and Matsuo Ryoki, Lead Creative Planner at developers Pokelabo.
As you would expect from Taro’s past interviews, this one is pretty upfront. The duo made no secret that game wants to sell gacha, and made some lighthearted jabs on their co-workers. Which is par for the course.
wFor those need to skim the interview, here are some of the more interesting quotes to come out of the interview.
On how Yoko Taro is handling his first mobile game project:
Yoko Taro: “While mobile games are given service endlessly, we can’t know when they’re going to end. Thus, SINoALICE is structured in such a way that it comes to an end after certain conditions are met.
“The situation is, there is no ending in sight because the game is doing better than expected, so the conditions will not be met.
“Therefore, I came to realize making games is really hard.”
How SINoALICE started development:
Taro: “It all started because Square Enix producer, Fujimoto, first suggested making a game about the fairy tale of Alice. Actually, I was working as a freelancer, so if Square Enix requested something, I had no other option but obeying like a slave.”
On how the character designs are made:
Matsuo Ryoki: “The Operations Department requested to Yoko Taro the characters they wanted. And he, in turn, ignored them.
“He made a fun setting, and then sent it to the illustrator, Jino, who also just took Yoko Taro’s request as mere reference, did as he pleased. So our game is always going in an unexpected direction.”
Taro: “Square Enix or Pokelabo say they want girls in a bathing suit or something that sells well, that’s why I have to work hard on the story.”
On their favourite SINoALICE characters:
Ryoki: “I like Snow White the most. As you can see from Yoko Taro’s attitude to Pokelabo, it is a company that wants to make a lot of money. And if Snow White is added to a gacha, she is such a strong character that the sales definitely increase. So I like her the most.”
Taro: ” The characters I like the most are the two dolls called Parrah and Noya. I like them the most.
“When you create a story and include unique characters like them, they add a sort of spice, and they have the main advantage of making it easy to carry on with the story and make working comfortable.
“And Parrah and Noya have the advantage of having saved us money because they do not need voice recordings.”
On working with Nier Automata music director Keiichi Okabe for SINoALICE:
Taro:  “I just gave him some YouTube links and said ‘Make music like this’. What I want you to know is that Okabe has become very conceited now that his music is being praised.
“Those of you who are here today, don’t write about his music, but please talk about his vanity instead. I beg you.”
SINoALICE will be launching worldwide excluding Japan, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau on Thursday, July 18 for iOS and Android.
