I know, I know. I'm late.

I'm late posting. And I will admit it. However. I have two different Marauder fics going, and I've needed to take some time to organize exactly what the fuck is going on in both of them, otherwise everything blends together. I apologize all, but my brain was literal soup. I'm just starting to figure it all out again.

On the bright side! I've made a good chunk of progress on the directions of both, and I now feel much more confident about keeping them separate. I'm also hype as fuck for both.

Yet, Eddie's going all philosophical even, talking about soulmates and alternate universes where they are together. He's saying this to the guy who's sitting next to him. me after editing the aau prologue for the bajillionth time

#izzy hands #ofmd s2 #does izzy deserve an actual mirror? of course #he's always so tidy and well put together that he probably does have a little one tucked away somewhere #but let's pretend izzy tucked away a small shiny platter while they were chucking all stede's stuff overboard #i wonder if he'd eventually start thinking of it as his and forget where it came from #or if he'd always feel like it's a part of stede #also... holding my breath for a moment in s2 where ed is cupping izzy's face in his palm with his thumb over the x #and before he pulls his hand away he wipes over izzy's eyelid and smears the perfect outline into something messy and used #something he recognizes. something that's comfortable #how long until izzy would wash his face clean and redo the mandatory mask the way he likes - sharp edges and clean lines #or would he keep it just as ed had left it... a sign that the moment was real #yet another way to show that he's blackbeard's #after all he already wears the x so what's one more mark of his loyalty? his obedience?#this is not where i thought i was going with this but you know what. i stand by it #just a little post

Wayne Family Adventures is the emotional equivalent of a chibi version of Batman without actually using chibi designs.

Hear me out: it cleaves to a particular emotional tone (lighthearted), uses simple and bold designs, and all its conflict arcs are short and resolve us back to a baseline equilibrium. It's a nibble of favorite characters doing stuff that might gently tug a heartstring or stab with a tiny knife, but overall it's not meant to be challenging. It's meant to slot into a gap, to reference canon but not necessarily engage.

This thought is brought to you by MDZSQ and the similarities in emotional tone vs other adaptations as I watch chibi versions of my favorite say-yes-to-torture-and-war-crimes necromancer flirt with his bf while trying to keep his pseudo-kid from fully comprehending the horror of the surrounding ongoing genocide.

You know. The fluffy stuff. :)

But! Both are adaptations aka specific versions with specific goals. They're formatted for a particular audience and medium, and I for one find fascinating the choices that authors make in what to highlight and what to downplay. (It's why I like fanfic, after all.)

bonus: the forbidden juice (ferric chloride)

#etching #printmaking #art process #pretty simple process for this one because i only did one round of aquatint #and it was just a b&w print #had a couple of hiccups that resulted in unintentional marks #but that's all part of the joy of printmaking tbh!#what is not shown here is that i drew on soft ground first and then set it and drew over the soft ground sketch into hard ground #then used aquatint to cover up any hazy marks around the edges #really pleased by how well that worked!!
