Continuing to think about This AU idea and just, slowly rotating it like a microwave.

@phoenixcatch7 had the fun idea of xenomorph-inspiration and the dollhouse being replaced by the Hive instead and I am here for that. A large cave that feels utterly wrong to anyone not part of their colony, if they can even find it. I am thinking something similar to Gemini Home Entertainment if anyone has watched that, with something between plant and flesh growing across the walls. Where one can't tell the difference between the two, or realize that it's already gripping onto them. The caves are already dangerous after all, nevermind the depths that It doesn't let anyone else into.

Also made me think about Jason, and like, so he doesn't die in the cryptid au, and definitely wouldn't in a world where he has a flesh puppet. But that still makes me think about how badly said puppet would be utterly maimed, right? Not to mention the explosion that would burn a lot of it too alongside whatever affect that'd have on his mind and human body. But now I am thinking of how the tunnels are everywhere under Gotham, how the bits of tendrils can reach through that ash, can meld with it, can for a cocoon of sorts. Turning a little robin into something else, letting it evolve into something new.

I am also rotating on if they'd be known to the Justice League like in the Doll au or if only Clark knows about them like in the Genesis au. Tempted for the second if only so there can be fun distinctly Not Human moments. Maybe the Justice League even getting concerned for their friend Superman because there's times he'll whistle or chirp under his breath (he might have picked up a few habits from his friends from Gotham) or literally snap his teeth if he's startled.

But oh the lil robins would probably be so adorable. Very fluffy and downy and brightly colored in a clear warning, but still unsettling. The way they move isn't right, like a jerky contortionist, but can also go too fluid or completely inhumanely still within a heartbeat. Not helped by the fact they don't need to breathe. O h, the batfam could most definitely be venomous. What with how in both Aus they use paralytics and sedatives on their claws and spikes, It could definitely include that within the secondary bodies.

I’m making my own TTRPG and was curious what the general consensus was for Criticals. I appreciate both for different reasons so I’m curious what others think.

Pros:

DND - consistent and easy to remember and allows for fun/life saving Deus ex machinas

Pathfinder - adds an element of surprise when it happens and reflects your mastery or lack there of in the given circumstance. Can make Critical Success and Failure more common and reflect both your skill level and the challenge at hand.

Cons:

DND - simplistic and boring (in my opinion)

Pathfinder - inconsistent and can cause a lot of Critical Failures and make Critical Successes not plausible if a character is using a skill they are not good at with a high DC.

(For people who haven’t played Pathfinder and think a +/- 10 to the DC is impossible… I promise u it is possible. A 5th lv character can roll a 30 or more fairly easily if built right. Rolls get VERY high very quickly lol)

...just heard about the upcoming perk changes...hmm...yeah. the only good one definitely is the adrenaline nerf. I've wanted them to take away healing off hook forever.

the other perk changes are ass.

ultimate weapon is still outrageously unfair, even if you take away the screaming! to me, it feels like they just saw the uptick in people using calm spirit following the addition of ultimate weapon, and decided "hm, the way to deal with this is to remove the screaming." no! this perks needs to be reworked differently! given a longer cooldown, something! it does way too much for just one perk!

DS buff isn't going to stop tunnelling. strong killers don't care if you stun them, and weaker survivors likely won't even have DS because it's licensed...waste of a buff. just as they should do with off the record, they need to spread out these important anti-tunnel strategies to general perks. it's so unfair that something this important be gated behind a DLC. and no one perk should ever be too strong!

also, I saw otz's commentary on the changes. I could not agree more that certain killers should be nerfed directly, rather than trying to just balance perks generally. not all killers interact with different perks the same... nurse, wesker, huntress, blight, etc do not care about a stun, even if it's increased in length. you need to change them & how their powers work in relation to stuns, so survivors have a chance to get away from them, rather than buffing the perk so that old man ghostface has an even worse time in this dogshit meta lmao.

I'm sure survivor mains are crying real hard about the adren nerf.#as if it was fair that the perk would heal you off hook like that. again: one perk should never do THAT much.#like. steve has a perk that heals you off hook. but it does ONLY that and you have to heal another survivor FIRST.#that feels fair! it does one thing and there's a trade-off! and the heal isn't immediate.#it's 16 seconds and then you heal. and you have base kit BT for 10 seconds to get away from the killer.#tbh- a slight buff to second wind would have been better than a DS buff. like. idk. reduce it to 12 seconds to heal off hook?#but second wind is a licensed perk again. so they should rather focus on making some general perk that does something like this instead.#there are sooo many survivor perks that are total dogshit and do nothing. including MANY general perks. REWORK THOSE!!!#I can't imagine this DS buff going to be a problem for hux because he's kind of a way more fair version of nurse.#he's very mobile. he just requires a lot more patience and skill to play.#I haven't seen anything about his planned changes yet. I'm hoping so badly that it will be a slight buff.#and by that I mean PLEASE MAKE SOMA FAMILY PHOTO BASE KIT!!!!!!#or even partially base kit!!! he should NOT be so dependent on one add on.#making it fully base kit wouldn't even be a problem because that would not impact kill rates at all.#this total hottie is only played by myself and a total of 5 other people worldwide.#making soma family photo isn't going to change that LOL.#like...some people might TRY him if he gets buffed. but I assure you- it would take a miracle to make more hux mains.

okay so if we say that she has mandibles that implies her jaw is also bug-like in nature (i.e. it has multiple moving parts. for a good idea of what i mean of this just imagine a mantis mouth and thats basically what we're referring to here) right. so like. she can totally unhinge her jaw right. does that imply she also has a lesser gag reflex. like i would imagine she does right considering the human body isn't necessarily made to eat human flesh (especially large quantities at a time) and she would have to kind of gag it down in a sense but like. does that also mean she has acidic spit. like if we get into how bug-like specifically her jaw & throat are does that mean she's also able to just. straight up est through cloth. bc if so does that imply she can straight up just bite through someones clothing to eat. like what is her diet looking like if we take into consideration her mixture of bug and human anatomy

#poll #writing #this is more directed at people who at least somewhat regularly interact with me btw #just bc like #if you don't then #you'll probably never see any work that i post anyway #i'll probably be rbing this throughout the day #also btw that's a mexican free-tailed bat #they have the fastest flight of any mammal and can keep up with a peregrine falcon #(considering a peregrine falcon's flight speed not their diving speed)#and they make up the largest colony of mammals!#the colony at bracken cave in san antonio tx is home to around 15-20 million mexican free-tailed bats depending on the year #(they're a migratory species)#but if you want a cool bat viewing experience then there's another cave two hours west in a town called concan #it's the second biggest colony with 10-15 million per year and you can get way closer to the bats #(still regulated ofc) (but a lot closer) (seriously like you can smell the guano) (which doesn't smell as bad as you'd think)#i'd advise going in late august to account for both weather and when the bats will be there #i'm just always gonna be partial to the frio bat flight in concan bc i went to it a lot growing up #it's what sparked and maintained my love of bats <3 #it's also where i got my url!! their hold music is the song linked in my bio it's great i love it sm #ok i need to shut up bc i could literally talk about bats and this cave all day

-person who refers to their hand-me-down van with the name and pronouns assigned by their grandmother and has a deep emotional and nostalgic attachment to said van.

#calling myself out #im not into fancy cars. Reggie (my van) is like an old family dog to me #he may struggle to run in the cold. his entire right side is paralyzed (the doors and locks have no power so everything is manual)#and the driver's seat is permanently stuck in its position. the trunk needs to be slammed and bumped to close.#the driver's sun shield is partially broken and can't stay folded up.#but he still has a tape deck. and the cd player still works. im using this car till the very end #my grandma keeps accidentally naming cars after ppl i associate with video games. like reggie.#and her current car is vinny. lol. if i ever have to get a new car i might jokingly name it jerma.#either that or soundwave (depending on the car)
