What if Kaede and Shuichi both died so Kiibo could be the true protagonist. What if Miu was our support character?

For the cryptid au, Do you have any ideas for the V3 cast? Who would be the human since there is no lucky student? (I’m guessing Kiibo or Tsumugi but idk)
I HAVE A CHART NOW!**
Tumblr media
it took many hours of research (thank you yokai.com and the myths and folklore wiki) and many decisions based on bullshit, but! I now have a finished (sorta) cryptid au chart to go on. More descriptions/explainations below the cut:
**EDIT: Some people raised concerns about cultural appropriation, so I’ve changed Maki to Bloody Mary! I apologize for the lack of research on my end!
Shuichi Saihara - Apprentice Grim Reaper
If Ultimate Lucky Student equals human, then Ultimate Detective equals Death. My working theory is that Shuichi was intended to be Class 79’s resident human, but died on his way to the school and was then taken in by Kyoko as an apprentice.
**Maki Harukawa - Bloody Mary
Specifically the version where she was falsely accused of killing a bunch of kids and then burned alive for it. Now she kills, but only when summoned. Kind of like an assassin!
Kaito Momota - Krampus/Goatman
Kaito really wanted to be viewed like Santa and instead he’s viewed as like. Evil Santa. And he’s sad about it. Also he has a bridge, though I imagine he’d be pretty gung-ho about dancing on it. (I don’t have a good explanation for this either. it’s just vibes.)
Himiko Yumeno - Baba Yaga
More like Baby Yaga, am I right??? I was just going to make her witch, but that’s booooring. I’m probably never going to draw like, Old Lady Himiko, though. Maybe she was just too lazy to age normally.
Tsumugi Shirogane - Lizardperson (Chameleon)
She’s totally plain and normal! Don’t look too closely! You definitely won’t find anything! What is this AU, if not a bunch of monsters cosplaying as humans. And what cryptid would be the best for that, if not a lizard person. As for the chameleon, i like the aesthetic more than just regular lizard face.
K1-B0 - Automaton
Yes, it’s lazy. (Though he’s also in contention for Class Human, specifically so he can claim to be a robot. Because his whole childhood he was gaslit by his “creator” into being told he was a robot. And this is the first school where people hear that and go “yup, that checks out!”)
Gonta Gokuhara - Boogeyman
I really screwed myself over by making Taka Mothman, but I just love that idea too deeply to change it. So, where’d I get the Boogeyman? Well, if we operate under the Oogie Boogie man from The Nightmare Before Christmas, the Boogeyman is basically a sentient pillowcase full of bugs! Sounds good enough to me!
Miu Iruma - Nymph (Dionysian)
Again, I really screwed myself over by using all the horny monsters up on other characters, but I think this works! Dionysian Nymphs are particularly frisky and have a propensity for partying and vulgarity, but maybe the booze will knock a good idea loose every once and a while.
Rantaro Amami - Kelpie
Green hair??? Seaweed??? Hatred of cars??? I got nothing, we really haven’t/didn’t see that much of that boy. This is subject to change of his talent is revealed, in which case kelpie status will probably transfer to Tenko. He’s listed as a possible Class Human because he could be the Lucky Student? But it’s unlikely.
Kokichi Oma - Eldritch Horror
I’m not convinced he’s not an Eldritch Horror in canon, tbh.
Kaede Akamatsu - Sylph
I search high and low, yet found no piano cryptids. So I went with Sylph because they’re air spirits, sometimes depicted as hummingbirds (music theme!) Plus, Kaede can be a little airheaded sometimes.
Ryoma Hoshi - Kappa
This was mostly vibes + I drew a doodle of Ryoma with a Lotad-esc lily pad head and fell in love. Plus, uh, drowning is an essential part of both Ryoma and kappas. Dude would probably be the chillest kappa in existence though.
Kirumi Tojo - Jorōgumo
There’s a lot of Kirumi spider imagery. This seems like a shoo-in.
Angie Yonaga - Living Painting
okay this is mostly just me being on an Ib kick, but it would explain why she’s always smiling. Bonus: Atua was/is the name of her painter.
Tenko Chabashira - Yeti
I…I got nothing for this. I ran out of man-hating monsters, and I wanted something that could beat the shit out of you. It was this or a Chimera. I dunno.
Korekiyo Shinguji - Naga
I only know this because of his FTEs Korekiyo compares himself to Medusa at one point and says it’s his favorite folktale. Unfortunately, gorgon has already been claimed by Miss Celestia Ludenburg, but luckily we can still get that snake monster symbolism. Mask is to cover up that unhinging jaw probably. (Also let’s just say that he isn’t dating his sister for this AU, yeah? I don’t want to deal with that.)
#
Also, some adjustments to earlier cryptids:
Toko Fukawa/Genocide Jack: Some people raised concerns that having any sort of cryptid that “played off” Genocide Jack could be considered offensive to those with DID or MPD, so I changed it. And honestly? The Kuchisake-onna works so much better. Woman who’s insecure about her body image and carries around a giant pair of scissors?? If that’s not Toko, I don’t know what is!
Mukuro Ikusaba: I love Mukuro, but I felt like the Waheela was just sort of me grasping for any sort of wolf symbolism, and it didn’t really work. Now she’s an incredibly intimidating curse demon who can control the weather! Much better.
Junko Enoshima: I think she was technically a Wraith before?? but Lich just seemed more fitting. She’s every DND campaign’s BBG.

Here's my ship tierlist! I'm not a very shippy person so most of these aren't very extreme feelings. I know there's a lot going on here, but here's the rundown:
My favourite ships are the training trio, Saiouma, Saimota, and Gokumota (which I had to add myself because the tierlist maker didnt include it!!). Saiouma is very entertaining (detective x criminal on the run) and also based on love hotel stuff Kokichi does like. canonically have a bit of a crush on Shuichi which is fun. Also, for gokumota, I think Gonta and Kaito could've supported each other really well if they had gotten to know each other a bit better before ch4, and trial 4 really solidified this for me.
the Yeah This is Good! Category are all the ships that I don't have particularly strong feelings about but think are great and like seeing them around.
The neutral Category is fairly self explanatory. Most I feel nothing about either way. EXCEPT Korekiyo x Angie, which I have simultaneous strong negative and positive feelings about, but cancel out for a very intense neutral.
The People ship this? Category is a subcategory of neutral. Its all ships that I'd never even heard of before I looked at this tierlist maker but didn't feel strongly about either way.
The Not my thing Category are ships that I'm not super into, but dont feel particularly strong about. I Probably won't reblog stuff about these ships but its not extreme
The very uncomfy Category is a very much a personal-preference category. The last one does just make me uncomfortable. But the first two I Get why theyre so popular and I can see where people are coming from when they like these ships.
O/ugo/ku specifically makes me uncomfy because of how intense/personal trial 4 was for me. I Do still reblog o/ugo/ku stuff because I love almost anything with Gonta in it and as Kokichi is so popular, there's gonna be a lot of stuff with them interacting. For me personally, it's always platonic.
O/umo/ta makes me uncomfy in a different way, in that I just dont see those two really? Liking each other? From my read, they hate each other in canon. I can understand the appeal of a ship dynamic between characters involving a lot of conflict being dramatically interesting, but when I participate in shipping I like it being a lot more fluffy.
The No Thanks. At All. Category are ships that make me uncomfortable in a way that isn't very nuanced. I just don't like them for reasons I think should be fairly self explanatory? Yeah
If you wanna hear my specific thoughts on any ships send me a message!! Also, for those who can't see the image or prefer a list, I've listed out all the ships on the tierlist under the cut

You mentioned in your first post that Chara doesn't particularly like Maki and is worried about Kokichi. What are the general opinions on the whole cast, from Frisk and Chara's perspective? Do they favor anyone, dislike anyone, more likely to be friends with, ectect?
(some of these may change as I write the story)
Keade
Frisk - Is a big fan, wanted to go to one of her piano recitals.
Chara - Thinks she's alright, likes listening to her play. Not surprised she killed in the end.
Shuichi
Frisk - "You don't feel like you deserve you ultimately title" mood
Chara - Thinks he's a bit of a loser, but an alright guy, is secretly proud of him when he gets more confident.
Tsumugi
Frisk - like talking to her about anime, very curious about her opinions on mew mew kissy cutie. Cosplays together
Chara - Doesn't really care/have any opinions on her other than neeeerd.
I have Ideas for their interactions :)
Rantaro
Frisk - Wants to help him figure out what his talent is/ would love to hear stories of his adventures if he has any.
Chara - suspicious of him, not sure if he actually did forget hit talent. Thinks he's interesting outside of the killing game
Kirumi
Frisk - what happens if you lock 2 workaholics into an enclosed space together
Chara - respects her work ethic, hopes they can convince her and Frisk to take breaks
Ryoma
Frisk - Understands how it feels to deal with the guilt of having killed, even if it could be argued that it was justified.
Chara - He's an alright guy
Himiko
Frisk - Enjoys her magic tricks, wants to teach her spells.
Chara - finds her slightly annoying, but alright.
Kaito
Frisk - thinks he's very cool.
Chara - he's alright, if a little annoying. Seems like he would be fun to scare 😈
Korekiyo
Frisk - he's weird, but that kinda makes them want to know more about him, also wants to see what he knows about monsters from his research.
Chara - thinks he's weird, but don't really care beyond that
Tenko
Frisk - Enjoys sparing/training with her, could do with less of the man hating tho
Chara - intense and annoying but as long as she doesn't hurt Frisk they're chill with her.
Miu
Frisk - shes cool also wonders if this was how it felt when they had the habit of flirting with everyone.
Chara - Thinks she's hilarious and that Frisk should hand out with her more.
Kiibo
Frisk - so are you actually like an ai robot, or a ghost possessing a robot body? (Also if you want to learn to sing/become a performer I know a guy)
Chara - oh hes a robot? cool
Gonta
Frisk - he's great, wonders if his forest family might be monsters that didn't get sealed in the barrier and went into hiding
Chara - thinks he's a good dude, wonders how good he is at fighting.
Angie
Frisk - Wants to learn more about her, keeps distance during the student council stuff
Chara - she's alright
I think that's everyone, some of these are probably gonna change as I write more. But basically Frisk wants to get to know everyone better, while Chara doesn't tend to have strong opinions on the others, and is usually chill with them as long as they arnt a threat to their family or Frisk.

I don't have any clear evidence, but a lot of things she says/claims just doesn't exactly work with things happening in the game.
About her writing the plot for every character, then why things went awry every time? Kaede failing to kill Rantaro? She had to intervene. Kaito not dying from his execution? Miu showing her turds to Kiibo (the audience)? Kokichi almost stopping the killing game in chapter 5? She had to intervene again. (and her defeat in the end, that was written in the plot too?) She doesn't seem to have control over what is happening
About pregame and the cast volunteering for ndrv3, I feel like the prologue and Rantaro's character contradicts that. Kaede and Shuichi recalled being kidnapped... They don't seem to be particularly excited in front of the Monokubs, the Exisals, the familiar feeling of being 16 teenagers in a school when they're supposedly hardcore dr fans who wanted to participate... Rantaro seems to have an idea of what is happening but he doesn't seem excited either. After they become their in-game selves or whatever, Rantaro is talking about an Ultimate Hunt.
You also talked about the Cospox and Tsumugi disguising as Kaede earlier.
For Kaede's twin, I wonder why Kaede never talked about it (we were in her head for one chapter.)
Nothing that proves it's actual lies, but enough to say its contradictory and to take things with a grain of salt.
Those are some really good points!
Script Failure:
I do think there was like... an outline of things that were supposed to happen and that Tsumugi had a little sway over things like with the flashback lights or that weird moment w/ Shuichi looking at Monokuma and suddenly wanting to go in search of a "Man's Fantasy." Yet like you said it seems she can't fully control them like clockwork, given that Kaede did try to kill Rantaro but couldn't manage to stick the landing. There's also the fact that Tsumugi herself admits Kiibo went berserk/offscript during CH6 and not only was the audience was mad at her but that the staff had to fix it. Doesn't sound like total control to me.
Something I think lends to that idea is that during the final trial Tsumugi says:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Which I believe means she can sort of suggest things to them and make them more inclined to do things, but she can't actually force them to do what she wants. It's an autosuggestion not autocommand. Shuichi still has the option of choosing to say No to the Man's Fantasy. If she could completely control Shuichi I don't think he would have a choice at all, but that could be explained by player input so that's not the best evidence in the world. Plus, this is from Tsumugi's lying self as well, so I can't say for certain, but it would neatly explain why the ideas of Tsumugi's script being real and the cast having free will, or at least a little bit of it, can coexist.
A better example would be how Kiibo, who by all means should have been under her complete control, was able to resist the will of the audience and reject the hope ending because he was sad thinking of his friends getting hurt. He might've fallen for the suggestion initially, but he managed to resist it later, so I just can't believe that she had 100% control over anyone if she can't even control her own surrogate robot.
As an aside:
Something I wonder about in relation to Tsumugi's control is Angie's weird hugs that convert non-believers and the Love Hotels (plus how Kokichi manages to come to his senses/might have been aware from the start.) If anyone has any thoughts on this I'd love to hear them.
Pregame didn't Volunteer:
That makes sense, but then I wonder how she got footage of them auditioning and being happy about getting selected...
I know there's a theory of Tsumugi herself cosplaying as them, but cosplaying all sixteen of them at the same time to get the selection reveal footage is a lot even for me to swallow, even from an Ultimate Cosplayer. Plus, that would contradict the scene with Tsumugi's cospox, so you'd have to explain that away as well.
But this is certainly something to think about and play around with, even if there isn't much to substantiate/confirm it.
Cospox:
Okay, so this kind of off topic, but the cospox could lend to the fact that they're in a simulation.
Think about it: who the fuck turns all pink when cosplaying as a real person? Even if she had an allergy to the fabric of Kaede's clothes or she has a skin sensitivity issue, nobody on earth turns pink, and not that quickly either. Plus the fact that Maki is super strong without looking like it, or the Danganronpa brand pink blood we see all the time, or that Virus Tsumugi claims to have given Kaito herself, or the program in Chapter 4 directly naming the simulation in SDR2, or the way that walls and statues move in V3, and not to mention the whole "fictional world vs real world" business...
All of these would make sense if Tsumugi had trapped the V3 cast in a sort of Neo World Program and could change their avatar settings along with the building settings like Miu did in Chapter 4.
This could all just be explained by typical Anime/Danganronpa bullshit, but I'm not satisfied with calling it quits there :P
Let me have fun dammit!!
Kaede's Twin:
It is really odd, especially when Korekiyo brings up his own sister to her but Kaede doesn't have a single thought about her own sister, even if they're estranged.
Odds are that Tsumugi was just trying to lie to put off her own reveal and that there is no twin sister at all.
The idea of Kaede having a twin is fun to fuck around with though, even if it's just a lie made up by Tsumugi.

Rambling about V3 Again
Today I saw a really interesting quote from author Brandon Sanderson and it honestly got me thinking. He talked about what he considers the single worst thing you can do with critique in writing, and that’s if a critic “tries to make your story into one they would write, rather a better version of one you want to write.”
That got me thinking about V3.
I don’t think it’s a stretch to say that V3 is a very polarizing game, and I’ve seen many people talk about how they would’ve preferred to see the story play out, from character arcs to deaths to story conclusions. And while I do honestly enjoy seeing alternative perspectives and takes and AU’s, I feel like a lot about the game, what it’s trying to say and be, is skewed by those ideals.
I’m not saying that the critiques about the game are invalid, because there are a fair share of flaws with the game. What I am saying is that we end up talking so much about what we wish V3 could’ve been that what V3 was trying to be often ends up lost in that, and I want to talk about it.
It wasn’t until I really saw this quote that I was able to articulate all my likes and dislikes about the game and the reactions to it into a cohesive whole, which is what I’d like to do here.
So let’s ask this: what was V3 really trying to be?
Let’s start from the game’s theme: the relationship between truth and lies. This is best exemplified by the fact that you have the option to lie during trials, that you can use deception to find the truth. That’s a very different take from the previous games, where hope was associated with finding and confronting the truth.
Kokichi is another example, as he’s a self-admitted liar who claims to lead a criminal organization and it’s hard to tell exactly what he’s thinking or saying. Yet Kokichi actually helps bring the group to several truths: he helps find the culprit in trials, he reveals Maki’s identity as the Ultimate Assassin, tells the truth about Gonta murdering Miu and it’s thanks to his actions that the group later discovers the reality of their situation.
Throughout their journey, the group is confronted by numerous truths they don’t want to acknowledge, even refusing to do so and attacking people who continue to push them through. And with every revelation, there’s always those lingering details that don’t really make a lot of sense.
Let’s look at the game’s main narrative. At the start of the game, Kaede remembers she was kidnapped in broad daylight, thrown into a van, and brought to some abandoned school with a bunch of other people. She doesn’t act like a particularly nice person and is dressed differently, at least until the Monokubs arrive and give everyone their new clothes and memories. From that point, the narrative shifts considerably.
Kaede is suddenly an outgoing, optimistic leader and Shuichi is a sullen, withdrawn detective who serves as her deuteragonist for Chapter 1. She’s resolved to escape the Killing Game and tries to rally the group together. However, when her methods don’t prove successful and they start drifting away from her, she considers saving them by any means necessary and goes so far as to attempt murder against the mastermind. When that happens, she’s found guilty and executed, leaving Shuichi to take up her role as protagonist.
As you go through the game, using devices called flashback lights that apparently reawaken lost memories, you learn more and more about the reason that the group was brought here: the Gofer Project. When meteors began raining down on earth, all seemed lost until they established this project to send a group of survivors into space to colonize a new planet. A group of Ultimates.
They had established early on that Ultimates have even greater rights in this world: they’re the only ones allowed to vote and hold office. As the meteors came down and the news of this project got out, some people formed a cult that believed it was divine judgement and that mankind should be destroyed. That’s when they began the Ultimate Hunt, pursuing the candidates for the Gofer Project across the world. The Ultimates, with no other way out, decided to erase their memories of talent and live their last days as normal people.
To protect them, the people in charge spread a false story that the Ultimates had died, even holding a fake funeral for them and sent them into space secretly. However, while everyone was in cold sleep, one member of the cult- Kokichi- had sneaked aboard and piloted the ship back to the ruined and now inhospitable earth. They have no way back and no way to survive outside, and thanks to Kokichi’s claims to be the mastermind, they’ve been killing each for nothing. The group ultimately loses hope.
However, they’re resolved to continue on in their fight against the mastermind when they find a flashback light that reveals they weren’t just any ultimates: they were the next generation of ultimates from Hope’s Peak Academy. It wasn’t really the meteorites that got everyone, it was an alien virus that pushed mankind to the brink of extinction. That the cult that rose in the wake of this was Ultimate Despair.
That seems like a definitive way to link this game with its predecessors...until you really begin to stop and pick it apart. If this was about saving mankind, why did nobody have their memories right away? Why would you only bring 16 people? Why students who don’t make them suited to colonization? Why people like a death row inmate, a serial killer, a self-proclaimed liar and criminal, and an assassin?
Furthermore, going through many Fte’s highlights how much of the characters’ backstories seem very out there. Gonta wasn’t raised by wolves but a race of dinosaur people living in the woods, Kirumi is so hyper-competent that she became prime minister during the meteor crisis, Korekiyo’s killed almost 100 women and yet has never been caught, Maki can attend high school despite Japanese orphanages being too underfunded for kids to usually attend, Tenko’s neo-aikido breaks all the rules of traditional aikido and she's impulsive, has low pain tolerance, and disregards fair rules, none of which are very befitting of a martial artist.
And to conclude, even I thought that the reveal of their connection to Hope’s Peak felt very fanficy and out there, especially when the game had made no references or implications of it beforehand. But the reason for all of this is simple and effective:
None of this is real. It’s all staged.
Chapter 6 reveals that everything from their identities to the outside world they thought they knew was all just a fabrication. In truth, Tsumugi shows herself as the mastermind and that they’re actually in the 53rd season of an in-universe show called Danganronpa. Something alluded to even in the beginning of the game with the Team Danganronpa logo. This moment was very make or break for a lot of people, but let’s treat it fairly.
According to Tsumugi, the outside world has become a peaceful, boring place and Danganronpa is the only source of real entertainment the people have. A place where people literally come to have their identities replaced with those of Ultimates and then made to kill each other. This, as it turns out, was an outgrowth of the actual series we’d played before. A game that’s gone over 53 times.
This revelation is devastating for the characters. The lives and memories they’d known were all fabrications, which Tsumugi claims to have intentionally written. The Flashback lights were designed to implant fake memories to manipulate them, which is why that Hope’s Peak connection was set up after everyone gave up following the reveal of the outside world. A truth that could lead the world to despair, a lie that could lead the world to hope.
She even goes so far as to show everyone’s audition tapes, claiming that Kaede, Kaito, and Shuichi himself were willing to participate in the killings out of sheer misanthropy, popularity, and morbid excitement
Kiibo is also revealed to be the audience’s means of interacting with the game, able to carry out their wishes and can even be hijacked and used as a way to fight against the characters’ decisions.
In the end, Tsumugi claims that the ongoing battle of hope vs despair needs to continue in perpetuity and that the survivors need to sacrifice someone, since only two people can survive Danganronpa. Shuichi, however, convinces Maki and Himiko not to vote for anyone and actually convinces the in-universe audience to give up on the series. Kiibo then blows the set to hell and allows Shuichi, Maki, and Himiko the chance to escape and see the world outside and what sort of influence they could have.
Now, let’s this break this down piece by piece here, because I feel like this part of the game is often conflated. Often I’ve seen people say that Chapter 6 is a giant middle finger to fans of the series, that nothing about the series really mattered, or that the flaws of the game can simply be attributed to bad writing on the creator’s part.
I honestly used to be in that camp myself, but the more I’ve thought about it, the more I feel those statements don’t hold up to scrutiny. We often conflate writing and narrative decisions we don’t like with bad writing. However, if the creator deliberately wants the narrative to move in that direction and has made intentional foreshadowing, references, and motivations that match it, we can’t simply equate that with it being “badly written.”
It’s not bad simply because we would’ve preferred they do something different. There’s a lot of very acclaimed books out there that I’ll admit I don’t care for because of their narrative decisions, but I wouldn’t go so far as to say they’re badly-written.
Furthermore, if something intentionally doesn’t make sense in-story, that is not bad writing. That is purposeful on the part of the creator, not a plot hole. The Gofer Project is not supposed to be a logical narrative, it’s meant to serve V3′s role: deconstruction of the nature of the series. It does this in many different ways:
Sequelization: 53 is a ridiculous amount of entries in a franchise and as I’m sure we’re all aware, as the number of entries goes up, the writing quality tends to go down. The Gofer Project story was purposefully meant to be nonsensical because it’s a story in an in-universe franchise that jumped the shark long ago.
A lot of people found it confusing or ridiculous that Shuichi and Kaede would have a romantic connection despite knowing each other barely a few days. That’s also the point; quick romances are a convenient narrative device to establish a means for character growth, followed by fridging her, a bad narrative trope designed to propel Shuichi toward development. Tsumugi even said as much during Chapter 6.
Similarly, Maki’s role in the story and her feelings for Kaito were reminiscent of that as well, with him helping her come out of her shell.
When you go back, you can see Danganronpa is loaded with references to other series. Tsumugi is an obsessive otaku and went so far as to fill the entire story with deliberate references and callbacks to things she enjoys.
The Monokubs are deliberate references to executive decisions to add more marketable and merchandisable characters as the series drags on.
The fact that there are (supposedly) people willing to sign up for a killing game deconstructs the idea that some in the fandom may have had. That is, actually being in a killing game would not be fun or exciting, but horrific and traumatizing. Most of us wouldn’t be badass detectives or heroes, we’d be scared out of our minds, afraid, and want to find a way out.
Furthermore, Shuichi being repeatedly told that he’s just a fictional character and that his role is to be the protagonist, to go through hardships and come out stronger for the audience’s entertainment pisses him off so much that he wants no part of it.
The climax is ultimately a deconstruction of what the series is famous for: the battle of hope vs. despair. In-universe, this has been reduced down to a simple narrative where the audience wants the same thing again and again: to see hope win in the end. Because hope keeps winning, the audience keeps wanting more. It’s become so formulaic that the audience doesn’t want to break out of its shell and just wants to see it over and over.
The final PTA against Kiibo is not meant to be an insult to the audience, but a representation of fighting against toxicity and entitlement in the fanbase, especially the ones that don’t want change. It’s not saying “you’re stupid for liking this series,” it’s saying “don’t be like these people.”
And how does the game? An unsatisfying ending that’s so bad that it drives the audience to give up on the show, finally allowing the killing to stop. Tsumugi decides she can’t live in a world without her favorite show and decides to die.
And that brings me to what I think is the ultimate thing that people conflate about the ending: that it’s all fiction, so nothing about it matters. That the entire franchise was fake, so it’s not worth your time.
That’s exactly the opposite of what V3 is trying to say.
First, Tsumugi is a completely unreliable narrator. The kind of person who let fiction consume her entire life, yet she believes it can’t change reality. She’s a liar and a hypocrite, and there’s no way of knowing if anything she says about the outside world is even true. It could be like she says or it might not be.
The fact that they have technology that can remove memories and add fake ones adds an entire dimension of ambiguity to everything she says, especially when you consider how the beginning of the game does not match up with what she says. We have no idea what the kids were really like before the killing game, so why should we believe anything she says?
And how can we be certain of her claims that she just wrote everything as planned? Kokichi and Kaito managed to put together a plan that completely threw her and Monokuma for a loop
Shuichi, Maki, and Himiko ultimately choosing to take the words of Kaede, Kaito, and Tenko to heart, even if they were part of a fictional narrative, is proof that they still had an influence on the trio. They choose to take something meaningful from their experiences regardless of the reality of their situation. And that’s something we all do.
The media we consume has an influence over who we are as people, and it’s part of why so many of us have such strong attachments to works we love. They were often influential in help shape who we are as people now, for good and for ill, and it’s important to take that into account.
V3′s message is that yes, that is important, and that you should read and enjoy stories and fiction, just as long as you don’t let it consume your life. They can influence you and even the world at large, and so it’s our responsibility as writers, artists, and creators to use that influence positively, to use the medium as a way to change the world for the better. That the only way for stale franchises that we’re tired of seeing over and over is to demand change, even if that means walking out on them. That the only way for things to change is for us to take action and demand change.
And by the end, we may not see immediate results, but we can at least work hard at trying to bring them about. V3 ends with Shuichi, Maki, and Himiko facing an uncertain future in a world they really know nothing about, but hopeful that their actions can and will change the world for the better. Real life doesn’t have solid, satisfying conclusions and it always doesn’t play out like a story, but that doesn’t mean you should give up on ever finding something satisfying or hopeful out there.
This, by no means, is me saying that V3 is a flawless story. I can point to numerous critiques that I still think hold water. However, Sanderson’s point is that we shouldn’t criticize a work based on what we wish it was rather than how it is and what it was trying to do.
I know there’s a lot about the story that bothers people, I know there’s a lot that wasn’t polished and a lot that feels uncomfortable and hard to swallow. Like Shuichi, coming out feeling confused, lost, unsure of what to do, but choosing to see merit and things to take to heart even in a story that turned out to be full of lies and uncomfortable truths.
If you didn’t enjoy V3, I wouldn’t force you to enjoy it. If you did love it, then you should love it. These are all just my thoughts on a story that, as time goes on, honestly feels more and more relevant to me.

V3 Boys with a crush that uses cheesy pick-up lines
Tumblr media
My first imagine! I’m probably going to get too invested in this.
Have a great day!
-Mod Maki
V3 Boys with a crush that uses cheesy pick-up lines
Shuichi
No matter how hard Shuichi tried, he couldn’t hide his crush on you
Just you being next to him was enough to make him as red as Himiko’s hair
So when you did, eventually, find out, you made sure to fluster him at every possibility
“Oh, h-hi, S/O. I didn’t see you there.”
“For some reason, I was feeling a little off today. But when you came along, you definitely turned me on.”
“W-what?! S-S/O, w-what are you-”
“Is there an airport nearby or is it my heart taking off?”
“H-huh?”
Shuichi.exe has stopped working
Satisfied with your work, you leave Shuichi with a kiss on the cheek and a light blush on yours
S/O uses FLIRT
It was SUPER EFFECTIVE
Rantaro
Rantaro would always unintentionally flirt with you. It would annoy you as he didn’t know he was doing it and was completely oblivious as to how flustered you were
So it was inevitable that you would get him back one day
That day being today
Rantaro was hanging out in the library, reading a book about avocados.
He was getting to the big plot twist where the avocado gets turned in to guacamole-
Sorry, I just spoiled the book for you
You just so happened to spot the matcha haired boy reading said book peacefully, it would be a shame if someone were to-
“HEY, RANTARO!”
Rantaro was a bit surprised to see you standing in the doorway of the library, interrupting his reading time
He was happy to see you nonetheless
“Hey, S/O.”
You decided that this would be the perfect time to use the pick-up lines that you spent your free time googling
“What’s up, S/O?”
“Aside from being sexy, what do you do for a living?”
Rantaro is confusion
“There must be something wrong with my eyes, I can’t take them off you.”
You feel a sense of satisfaction once you see his cheeks turn red
The feeling doesn’t last long, however, as he starts firing pick-up lines back
“I don’t have a library card, but do you mind if I check you out?”
Did... Did hE JUST...?
Kokichi
Every day at 4:20pm sharp Kokichi would try to get a date with you by using the cheesiest pick-up lines and hoping that they would win your heart
EVERY. SINGLE. DAY.
Of course he would always play it off as a joke after he gained a reaction from you
He never asked you out directly, just endless pick-up lines
You weren’t oblivious, you knew that he liked you but you were waiting to get him back
You had spent the entire night googling pick-up lines that was sure to make him flustered
If they don’t work then he’ll never let you hear the end of it
That afternoon, Kokichi makes his way over to you, as usual, and you were trying your best to act normal
He probably saw that you were up to something and was cautious when speaking
“Hey, S/O, watcha up to?”
“ Y-you must have the power to change gravity because you knocked me o-off my feet.”
Kokichi stares at you for a few moments with an unreadable expression
You worry you’ve made him uncomfortable until he breaks out in laughter
You look down, ashamed and embarrassed
When Kokichi sees your expression, he calms down from his fit off laughter but is still smiling brightly with blush on his cheeks
“S/O, I didn’t know that you thought so highly of me!”
The blush covering your cheeks intensify as Kokichi’s smile widens
“Y’know, if you liked me so much you could have just said something!”
He kisses you on the cheek before walking off in a fit of giggles and his face flushed red
S/O.exe has stopped working
Kiibo
The poor robot decided to ask you what pick-up lines were
“Hey, S/O, what is a ‘pick-up line’?”
You have been waiting for this moment your entire life
You ask if he would prefer it if you showed him
Now he’s scared
You have to assure him that it isn’t anything bad and then the chaos begins
He doesn’t understand at all
“Are you a keyboard? Because you’re-”
“Is that a robophobic comment?! S/O, you know I’m not a keyboard!”
Kiibo nO
You try again
“Your hand looks heavy can i hold it for you?”
Kiibo pUT YOUR HAND BACK ON
You decide to stop before Kiibo is fully dismembered but Kiibo is disappointed that he still couldn’t understand pick-up lines even after this *ahem* ‘enlightening conversation’
You tell him that you’ll try again tomorrow
Kaito
He thinks that he is amazing at using pick-up lines but he always gets them wrong
“Was your father a thief? ‘Cause someone stole the sky from the stars and... WAIT-”
This goes on for a while because he has forgotten all the pick-up lines he had googled the night before
One day you see him coming up to you with the smug face he does when he has a new pick-up line to show you
So you say one first
“Hey, S/O, do you-”
“If I had a star for every time you brightened my day, I’d have a galaxy in my hand.”
Kaito is shook
“Wow, S/O, if you do that more often you’ll be nearly as good as me!”
You think that you have distracted him from his own line, until...
“Oh, yeah! As I was saying, S/O, do you-”
Well, that didn’t work
But you do get to catch him off guard every once in a while with a pick-up line or two
You just wont ever get him to stop
Ever
Korekiyo
Korekiyo was being his usual weird self and having a looong conversation with you about random anthropology stories
Normally they are quite interesting and keep you entertained when you have nothing better to do but this one was quite long and boring and seemed to go on forever
You didn’t want to stop him though, as he seemed to be enjoying himself
Then, you had an idea
“Can I follow you home? Cause my parents always told me to follow my dreams.”
Korekiyo stopped and stared at the ground while you were still awaiting a repsonse
You start to worry for a moment when you hear Kiyo mumble something under his breath
“Humanity is so beautiful...”
You think it was a compliment...?
But you’re not really sure
Gonta
Miu had dared you to use a pick-up line on Gonta
Considering this is Miu, this is very mild for her and you are lucky she didn’t go further
Deciding to go before she changed her mind, you ran off to find him
He was with Kokichi having no idea he was helping the short gremlin boy pull off a prank
Of course he was...
You can’t do it with Kokichi there, he will make fun of the poor boy
...and you
So you tried to wait until Kokichi left
Key word: tried
At some point, Kokichi had caught you waiting and had called you over
Kokichi why?
That was when Gonta had saw you
“Oh, hi, S/O!”
Miu was getting tired of waiting and you were getting annoyed with the smug look on Kokichi’s face
So you made your way over to Gonta with little confidence showing
“ A-are you Netflix? Because I-I could watch y-you for hours.”
“No, Gonta is Gonta.”
Miu was laughing her ass off and Kokichi was stifling his laughter
With any confidence you had shattered, you walked back dejectedly
Kokichi whispered something to Gonta
“S/O!”
You turned to see Kokichi nearly exploding from holding in laughter and Gonta with a serious look on his face
“Did it hurt when S/O fell from the vending machine? Because S/O looks like a snack.”
Kokichi, whAT DID YOU DO?
Ryoma
Ryoma never really showed much emotion towards anything so today you have a bunch of pick-up lines prepared to try and get him to smile
You found Ryoma by himself in the gym and decided that it was the perfect time to try out those pick-up lines
“Ryoma!”
“Hey, S/O.”
You frowned at his tired tone and sighed
Suddenly, you perked up and remembered one of the pick-up lines you found particularly cute
“Hey, you’re pretty and I’m cute. Together we’d be Pretty Cute.”
Ryoma’s eyes widened for a moment before he grinned slightly
You noticed this and tried another one
“I was wondering if you had an extra heart. Mine was just stolen.”
At this point, he was fully smiling, a rare sight to see on Ryoma
You felt proud that you were able to grace him with that smile and smiled back
“Thanks, S/O, I needed that.”

V3 Boys Doing Kabedon On S/O
“Hello, welcome there ! Can i request danganronpa v3 boys doing kabedon on their S/O please ? >.< Merci ~ “
I haven’t even thought about kabedon in ages! This is such a cute idea, I’m in love! Story under the tag~
P.S: In case you don’t know what kabedon is, here is a definition: ‘Kabedon is a very popular means of expressing romantic love or adoration. It is done by a man hitting his hand on a wall, pinning the woman in the process.’
Shuichi Saihara
We all know Shuichi is shy when it comes to romance
He would glow red just as you holding his hand in public
Which is why you two would only cuddle in private, as he was worried about being teased
But today he was stressed
He had spent a week straight trying to find the mastermind, with nothing to show for it
That also meant a week of not seeing you as much as he liked, and he was craving from attention
He walked into your dorm without asking, knowing that you were there, probably sitting at a desk reading or drawing
“Shuichi!” You stood up from your desk, walking towards him. “What are you doing here?”
As you approached your boyfriend you saw the serious expression on his face, causing you to slow down
“Shuichi, are you okay? Have you been sleepi-”
You were forcefully cut off by Shuichi taking a sudden step forward, lightly grabbing your shoulder and pushing you against the wall, slamming his hand into the wall near your head in the process
Looking up at Shuichi, your face reddened at the serious look he had painted on
His eyes were unreadable, only observing you
He collapsed into you, your back thudding lightly against the wall
“Shuichi...?”
You felt his arms wrap around your waist, tightening when he sensed that you were balanced
“I’m sorry Y/n, I really wanted to see you, but I am just so exhausted...”
Relaxing, you returned his hug, smiling softly into his chest
“It’s alright Shuichi, I just wish you hadn’t worked yourself so hard.”
Lightly pushing him back, you led the sluggish boy to the bed, laying him down before getting in yourself
Pulling the covered over the two of you, you silently giggled as Shuichi nuzzled into you, making you into a makeshift teddy bear
“Goodnight love.”
Kaito Momota
It had only been a week since you had gotten stuck in this killing game with all these other students, everyone was just starting to settle in to this new life
People were starting to find the people they could be friends with, while you were stuck with a die-hard crush
The ultimate astronaut, who had already been yelled at multiple times for getting in too many people’s personal spaces, had somehow swooped in and stolen your heart despite only speaking to you a handful of times
And he only really spoke to you if he needed a favor or to hide from someone, so you started to deny his requests, turning and walking away before he could see the faint red on your cheeks
You were walking through the main hall of the school when you were suddenly pushed into the wall, jumping at the thud of the handing hitting the wall next to your head
Looking up to see Kaito, you huffed and diverted your gaze, fiddling with the hem of your shirt as if to give your hands something to do
“What do you want, Kaito? I can’t hide you in my room anymore, Maki knows that’s where you go, and I’d like to not have a repeat of two days ago.”
“Aw, lighten up, Y/N! You know, it’s good to learn to always be on alert, so maybe having Maki break in was a good way to test you!”
“I needed a new door, Kaito.” You glared at him
“And I am sorry about that! But look, I’m here to ask something of you, this time with less fighting and more...talking!”
Talking?
“Spit it out, please.”
Kaito sighed, using his free hand to rub his neck
“Okay. Y/n, I know I am really not in the position to ask this, but, would you maybe wanna have a picnic sometime?”
As the words sunk in, your eyes widened, looking at the boy standing over you. A date? Date?!
Struggling to contain your excitement, you flashed a small smile before pushing his hand down, letting your linger on it just a second longer
“Sure, that sounds nice.”
Ryoma Hoshi
I am so sorry I can’t think of anything but Ryoma trying to do it and only reaching your legs I’m sorry if you really wanted Ryoma but I can’t stop laughing-
Rantaro Amami
You and Rantaro had been close since this whole thing started, you even saving him from Kaede’s trap to kill the mastermind
She apologized profusely of course
Today had been one of those days where there was nothing to do, no motives, no threats, just hanging out
You and Rantaro had been hanging out in the dining hall, eating a late lunch and generally just being bored
Searching for any form of entertainment, you noticed the bottle of soda Rantaro was drinking from and got an idea
Swiping it from his hand, you skipped away from the table
“Y/n, can I have that back?”
“Nope! You’ll hafta come get it!”
This resulted in the two of you fast-jogging around the dining room, him trying to retrieve his stolen drink
Well, you were sprinting, this boy has really long legs
After a couple laps around the room you began to get exhausted, and resorted to just huddling into a corner, back facing your boyfriend
You felt him approach your back, and stifled a giggle
“Y/n, can I have my drink back?” He was panting, as the run had also taken some effort on his part
You shook your head no, pulling the bottle closer to your stomach, away from his reach
He continued to ask, nudging your shoulder or placing a hand on your head, only earning a small laugh or a no as a response
You were suddenly flipped around, a hand forcefully pulling on your shoulder, forcing you to face him, another on the wall next to you
You made eye contact as he leaned down, face inches from yours
“Y/n, you are adorable...”
The hand on the wall dropped down to your chin, holding it in place
Rantaro began to lean in, eyes closing slowly, and yours doing the same
As you anticipated the next blissful moments, a strong pull ripped the bottle from your relaxed hand, your boyfriend suddenly backing off
He gave you a lopsided smirk before walking out of the dining hall, taking a small sip of his drink as if to show victory
“H-hey! This isn’t fair, you owe me a kiss!”
Gonta Gokuhara
Gonta is many things
He’s sweet, funny, smart, and gentle
But he doesn’t really know what personal space is, especially when he’s excited
You two had spent nearly the whole day in his lab, you letting him gush about his bugs and the ones he found particularly pretty
“Any that remind me of Y/n are the best!”
Gonta had been flipping through multiple books trying to find a picture of the butterfly that reminded him of you the most, and it was taking quite some time
You took this time to look at the butterflies pinned to the wall more closely, taking in each spot and groove on the wings.
“Y/n! I found it!”
You jumped at the sudden boom of voice, turning around just in time to be pushed against the wall, book in your face
“See! This one is amazing, pretty! Like you! Gonta apologize for how long it took to find...” He lowered the book, making you suddenly notice how close you two were to each other
Gonta seemed to notice too, as his cheeks turned red and he backed up slightly
“S-sorry! Gonta didn’t mean to hurt Y/n!”
You gave a breathy laugh, jumping up to give him a quick peck on the cheek
“It’s perfectly, fine, Gonta. I love you.”
Kokichi Oma
Let’s face it, Kokichi will pin anyone to anything if it gets a reaction out of them
He mostly does it to you, your blushy reaction always making him tease you even harder
So it wasn’t a huge surprise when he came rushing up behind you whilst on your way to the library
You let out a grunt as you were slammed into the wall, head hurting just a bit
“Y/n~! How’s my favorite little ultimate doing?”
Despite your desire to laugh in his face, you felt your face heating up, and only growing hotter as he leaned in closer
“Aw...whats the matter? Are you sick? Or are you deeply in love with someone?! Oh, let it be me, please!”
He leaned in further, noses touching. “Boop!”
Snapping out of it, you shoved him off, Kokichi casually pretending to be wounded like he always does, falling to the floor
“You’re no fun, Y/n!” His voice grew to a whisper as he clung to your leg. “What if I died?”
You shake your head and remove your leg from his grasp, walking away quickly
This boy will be the death of you, you swear.
Korekiyo Shinguji
...What was happening?
You had been walking to the dorms, planning on getting a nap in before lunch when all of a sudden, you were pinned to the dormitory wall, a tall man looming over you
To say you weren’t friends with Korekiyo was an understatement
No one was
He was just...there. Being him. He didn’t talk to anyone or try to interact. He liked to stare.
And here the boy was, arm next to your head and breathing down at you, breath blocked by the mask he always wore
“Can I help...you?”
Korekiyo seemed to snap out of a trance, eyes that were blankly staring at you now looking into your eyes with some actual living emotion
“Yes. I, uh, would like to ask for your assistance, with something in my ultimate lab...”
You felt your ears heat up, surprised at the way his voice sounded
It sounded really nice.
“I-uh, yeah...yeah! Of course I can help!”
He audibly let out a sigh, eyes averting from you. Was that a blush you see?
“Perfect. I see you’re doing something now, so I’ll request your presence after dinner. Goodbye.” He walked off quickly, sliding back into the school
Did you just...make friends with the unfriend-able?
Kiibo
You and Kiibo had been close since you guys met during the first days of the killing game
Who cares if he was a robot? You loved him and he didn’t know exactly what he was feeling so he guessed it was love!
You knew he was insecure about how little he knew about showing affection, so you were humored when he would confess he learned whatever romantic gesture he just did from another classmate
You didn’t care, it was sweet!
However, when he pinned you to the wall of the gym, you were startled
Mostly at the fact that he did it so forcefully his hand went into the wall, becoming stuck
“M-my apologies, Y/n! Kokichi told me to do it as hard as I can, so...”
The next few hours minutes were spent trying to pry him from the wall, Monokuma finally getting an exisal to dig him out when he had gotten bored of laughing at Kiibo
Kokichi, however, found it incredibly amusing, crying from laughter the second he saw what had happened, not letting him live it down for the next week
“I really gottta hand it to you, Kiibo! You know how to make someone swoon!”
________________________________________________________________
Ahh, this is so bad! I’m sorry some are so short, Ryoma doesn’t even have one! .-. Thank you for requesting!

V3 boys (plz include Amami and Hoshi; don’t wanna leave them out) their s/o willingly joining Angie’s “Student Council” for their own personal gain/reasons and (though they still love each other) now they have to deal with being on opposing sides of them until the group later disbands?
Oh anon, you couldn't find a way to ever make me not include Amami or Hoshi. They're both amazing characters and fun to write to boot however, I did struggle a bit. I had to write it where anyone could have killed Angie each time and also wrote this where each boy isn't a part of the council in their segment so I hope that you like it still. As with everything else though, feel free to tell me if you don't.
Tumblr media
Rantaro
Rantaro and you had bonded ever since the killing games started.
You fed off of each other you with his calmness and him with your rationality which is why what you did next came as a total surprise.
You two had started dating only shortly before Angie assembled the Student Council but Rantaro still felt a little betrayed by you joining.
He's a rational guy so he'd try to pull you aside and ask why you joined.
He'd try his hardest just to talk to you civilly and wouldn't try to force you out of the Student Council. He'd just wanted to be able to talk but you wouldn't give him the time of day.
He was thinking it was as though you were never going to talk to him again when the body announcement played its sickening tone. "A body has been discovered!"
He knew that the Student Council couldn't prevent any worries but he couldn't help but still feel sick to his stomach.
Even with all the effort that you and other members put in, they couldn't prevent the murder of Angie. No one could but they could at least bring her murderer to justice and he would be able to find out the other mystery earing away at him too.
It wouldn't be until after the case when he'd ask if you both could talk in his room. He wouldn't push or anything but he'd still be pretty adamant in needing to see you right then and as soon as you would agree he wouldn't beat around the bush.
"S/o, I know that you always were a rational person so I need to ask once again. Why did you join Angie's Student Council?"
He'd try to be calm as usual but he was itching to know.
"I wanted to try to protect everyone else in the student council. They might have banded together but they were going to get themselves killed. I thought if I said it aloud that they'd be onto me. I'm... I'm sorry Rantaro."
He couldn't believe what he was hearing. You were too kind of a person. You couldn't protect everyone but you still tried so hard.
After hearing your reasoning he'd simply wrap his arms around you, trying to comfort you for the night.
Ryoma
Ryoma was used to you staying by his side. You two had started dating thanks to your own persistence to break his barriers but he assumed that it wouldn't last long.
Someone like him didn't deserve someone as great as you.
He thought it over and over but he still didn't expect that you'd leave so quickly.
It was like as soon as you got a chance to go to the student council you just did without looking back.
Guess he should have seen it coming though. No one should stick around a guy like him.
Or at least that's what he said but even if he wouldn't approach you he'd always keep his eyes glued to you. His mind was still stuck on you and how you treated him before this whole damn student council started.
He'd work up the initiative to finally ask you about it though only after the whole thing came crashing down.
Like Rantaro he can wait until there's an appropriate time but he wouldn't be able to restrain himself asking at one point in the class trial.
"S/o, why did you join the student council in the first place?"
Normally, Ryoma never even seemed to suspect you but that trial would be relentless. He doesn't do anything that gets them off point or further from discovering the culprit but there is definitely some weird tension the whole time.
And that tension wouldn't dissipate until you blurted out, "I thought that by joining them I could make sure none of them would target you if they betrayed us. It wasn't right but I wanted to make sure you were safe. You don't deserve to suffer anymore Ryoma!"
Then it's his turn to feel cornered.
"S/o......we'll talk about this later but...thanks. Thanks for not giving up on a guy like me. Let's find this killer together yeah?"
Korekiyo
Kiyo thought that the student council idea was foolish from the start.
He was used to you believing in him and his tales of Gods but Atua now too?
He just couldn't wrap his head around you leaving him for that.
You were the one that pursued him in a romantic endeavor and now you were tossing him aside?
He wouldn't let that slide as easily as the others.
He would be meticulous but he isn't going to pull any punches either.
Similar to Ryoma he'd end up cornering you, trying to force you to spill the beans while exposing Angie's murderer and he wouldn't let up the entire trial.
Not until you told him that you thought you'd protect him. "You corrected Angie plenty of times on how Gods typically acted so I thought she might try to target you. I just wanted to keep you safe, Kiyo."
That's when it's his turn to be shocked.
Why were you so adorably foolish at times?
"Oh S/o, I'll forgive you but that was quite the foolish thought."
Kokichi
Do you think this boy would just let you run off to join the student council after you won his heart?
Well, you're right.
Kokichi doesn't trust most people let alone show that he cares for them so he wouldn't bat at an eye at you suddenly cutting him out.
He'd just treat you pretty badly going out of his way to be more of a nuisance and in less of an endearing way and more of an annoying way.
He doesn't want to hear what you have to say, he just wants you to know that it's not bugging him at all. Although, that's the biggest lie he's told yet.
He's miserable without you and wants to know why you'd join Angie of all people.
He was normally so great at reading people and here he was stumped by his own lover, or ex-lover as he assumed.
It really wouldn't occur to him why you were in the student council until he'd hear you during the trial.
"So you were in the Council to try to protect everyone else? That's pretty stupid but I might be able to forgive you then. Unless that's a lie that is...."
He'll be lying about never forgiving you but you'd see him go back to his usual chipper and childish self around you soon after that.
Kaito
Kaito is one of the most vehement in getting someone to rely on him.
If you suddenly stopped talking to him to go run off with the Student Council, there's no way he'd let it slide.
He unlike, the others wouldn't wait at all before pushing you back against the wall and confronting you.
It pissed him off more than anything for you to be ignoring him but he'd have to soon accept that he couldn't make you speak.
He liked you and your strong personality from the start, it's why you started dating, but god was it pissing him off now.
As soon as the Body Discovery played the very same day that he had cornered you to try to interrogate you he'd still feel his stomach drop even if he claimed he was angry with you.
He had to know you were safe and would come running pulling you to him like Gonta.
"That's it S/o, you're going to tell me right here and now why you were in Angie's bullshit Student Council!"
He wouldn't care if he was inconveniencing your own investigation, holding onto you and not letting go until you'd tell him point-blank that you wanted to protect him.
"You're always running headfirst into things so I thought that the curfew would be better for you. Nearly everyone knew how you would go to train with Shuichi and Maki, what if something happened to you?"
That's when Kaito lets out a laugh as he lets go of you.
"Nothing could happen to me. I'm Kaito Momota, luminary of the stars! So...you know don't worry. I'd...never leave you, you know."
Kiibo
This is one boy that spent his whole life wanting to love.
Now that he got to feel that though, you decided to introduce him to the equally powerful feeling of heartbreak.
He couldn't fathom why you'd stop talking to him only to join Angie's Council.
He thought it might've been his fault but it all just felt so illogical. Illogical and heart-wrenching at the same time.
He'd try on multiple occasions to get you to talk to him and yet you wouldn't even give him a moment.
Why? What did he do?
He pondered on and on what he could've done to get you to dislike him so much suddenly when a certain familiar tone snapped him out of his thoughts.
Was that what he thought it was?
He'd come rushing immediately, pushing himself to get to you and check that you're safe.
When he sees that you are he's so relieved but why are you talking to him now?
"S/o I know that time is imperative but I need to know, why were you ignoring me?"
"I'm sorry Kiibo, I was worried that Angie would realize that I was trying to get her to stop saying that robots wouldn't come with us to paradise and I just....went too far. I went way too far and I'm sorry"
"S/o I’ll, we can talk about this later but thank you. Thank you for caring so much for me and teaching me so many things whenever we’re together. I learned what heartbreak was and though I didn’t particularly enjoy it I promise that I'll still always be with you."
Shuichi
Shuichi as most know lacks confidence.
He thought he had finally found some when you decided that you yourself would cease speaking to him removing yourself from his company to instead go with the Student Council.
Like Gonta or Rantaro, he'd try to question you but you'd brush him off only insisting that he listens to the Council's decisions.
He didn't understand it. He wanted to find out why you joined Angie so suddenly but it wouldn't be until the trial that he'd place the pieces together.
"S/o didn't you join because you suspected someone within the Council would make an attempt on Angie's life?"
"I...I guess I don't need to hide it anymore. You're right Shuichi, I didn't care about anything other than trying to prevent the murder of Angie."
He was so glad once he realized what it was. He'd talk with you later but for now, he had to tell you one thing.
"I knew it. There was no way you'd cut me out so suddenly for some other reason. You might not have been able to prevent Angie's death but we can still expose the one behind her murder. Let's do this S/o!"
Gonta
You don't need to be told twice that Gonta is a sweetheart but....he is!
He'd be in love with you for your kindness so he wouldn't even bat an eye at the notion of dating in a killing game.
"Love works in mysterious ways." Is how the saying goes, not that he'd ever really use it to describe your situation.
He thought it wasn't that unusual. What he thought was unusual was when you'd suddenly stop talking to him altogether only to run over to the Student Council's side.
He'd try to ask you why you joined, mostly worried when you'd snub the poor baby.
He felt as though he did something wrong. He'd try to apologize to you one day but on his way to see you he heard the usual sickening announcement.
"A body has been found!"
He had to find you! He quickly tears through the halls and immediately pulls you into him when he sees you're safe and sound.
And now you were talking to him too! It was a miracle but he still wanted to know what was up.
"S/o why you join Student Council in first place?"
"I had a bad dream that something would happen to you, I thought that if I joined I'd be able to stop something like this from happening."
He couldn't believe his ears but would quickly forgive you. He loves you after all.

What if the v3 cast were all swapped bodies? Like in the monopad they all swapped to the left? What hijinks would ensue?
I would put a picture of me being super excited since I wrote something else that wasn’t DRTC, but I can’t bc my computer is being rude. This one is gonna have some fun fun spoilers though! Keep that in mind. ~Mod Kokichi
V3 Body Swap
Kaede - Ryoma
When Kaede realizes that the only way to see everyone is to strain her neck and everything is incredibly short in her room, she knows something is deeply wrong. She realizes that the only person she could possibly be is Ryoma. The entire day, she spends going about as normally a possible. She wants to finish the day at the piano, but her fingers are far too small to play any of her classical pieces.
Angie - Gonta
Angie wakes up, almost practically unaffected! Sure, she bumps into everything possible due to the large size, and sure her vision is completely horrible and she can’t find his glasses most of the time, and sure his hands are too large to do any of her sculptures, and-- okay, she isn’t quite pleased. However, before anyone can chuckle at her horrible handling of his body, she tells them that perhaps Atua planned this from the start so she can use the might of her lovely god to enforce his will. The best part is everyone seems to listen, though she can’t imagine why!
Gonta - Shuichi
Gonta feels a lot lighter. When he looks into a mirror and sees Shuichi’s eyes looking back, he almost didn’t even realize. His eyes widened a few moments later before moving back and freaking out. Even hearing Shuichi’s weak yelling made him even more spooked. He ran out of the rooms, and he tried to see if everyone was congregated, but he had woken up before the morning announcement, leaving him to run around. He makes a mental note to help Shuichi train his body so he doesn’t get fatigued so easily.
Himiko - Angie
Had she not needed to wake up and go meet everyone, she wouldn’t have ever figured it out. However, going to slip on clothing that was bright yellow and a bikini? That caught her attention. Leaving the room, she ran into her body, and started stuttering for some help. The distasteful look on her own face and apology for not being able to complete her duties as a maid made her more frustrated. She does appreciate being left to her own devices from Tenko, though. She spends the rest of the day catnapping and keeping a low profile with the others.
Kiibo - Tenko
While he’s a little discombobulated, waking up to feel actual skin made him wonder if his dreams had come true. It turns out that being a human made him so excited that he forgot to put on regular clothing. He grabbed the clothing, not particularly minding it was Tenko’s. Surely she wouldn’t be too upset with him considering he’s not technically a guy. He goes about his day, eating lots of food as research, along with being amazed that he can do regular things such as go to the bathroom and cry. All in all? The day is good for him, and he never reveals he’s in her body. He even puts up the charade that he’s Himiko in front of other people just to be safe. The moment he figured out which person was Tenko, he tried to avoid them as much as possible.
Kaito - Korekiyo
The biggest problem with being in Korekiyo’s body was that he wasn’t made to be an energetic being. He went through everything in the room just to be nosy. He didn’t want to think about what all the rope was for, and he got rid of some various creepy cult things that he had on display. Everyone wasn’t prepared for Korekiyo to sit down and be happily munching at the table to who he assumed was Maki. He made a mental note to avoid the man as much as humanly possible from that point on.
Kirumi - Himiko
Kirumi wasn’t that upset about the body switch, and simply felt disdain for being put in a less… capable body. Clearly Himiko kept herself clean enough, but her height and energy left something to be desired. Regardless, she went around, trying to help everyone get acquainted with their bodies. Cleaning is a hassle, but she somehow still manages to take everyone’s requests. They don’t call her the Ultimate Maid for nothing.
Kokichi - Miu
Waking up and seeing Miu’s clothes fueled him to go to insane lengths to prank her immediately. He wasted no time at all grabbing things from her room and writing down insane plans for her to find. Looking through them all the ones she’d made herself got him wondering what she would need some of the code for. Sure, he didn’t completely understand, but he could tell this wasn’t for anything raunchy or what other people would ask for. He spent the rest of the day making a fool of Miu and falsely accusing others of the body swap. Just a regular day, really.
Korekiyo - Tsumugi
Korekiyo wasn’t fazed at all, and took the entire day to think about how wonderful situations are like this since they test other peoples’ humanity. Not only that, but finding some notes in her room about a secret door in the girls room made for a most interesting discovery. He wouldn’t say anything about it, but his suspicions about how Tsumugi has been operating rise in his mind. He makes a note to keep an eye on her.
Maki - Kaede
Maki wasn’t prepared for this, and was ruffled up about it. She thanked whatever god there was that Kokichi hadn’t taken over her body, and spent the entire day trying to strangle Miu. Was she actually Kokichi, or was she just particularly annoying today? She wasn’t sure, and she had to refrain from resorting to anything too hasty. She would wait out the rest of the day.
Miu - Kiibo
Finally. Finally, Miu can figure out if robots have dicks. After some searching around in his room, she came out and put her hands on her hips, laughing as loud as she possibly could. The amount of raunchy jokes she threw around (“I may be a robot, but I’m better than any vibrator your virgin ass can get your hands on!”) Everyone is absolutely horrified, and everyone afterwards besides the inventor himself agreed to never speak of it again.
Rantaro - Kaito
Rantaro refuses to show that he’s freaked out when he wakes up and his body feels physically weaker. Some of the coughing fits he has puts him out of commission as he has to lean against a wall. Coughing up blood is never any good, and he looks around for something to help him out. With no medicine, and no one ever seeing him cough that violently, he figured that Kaito has been hiding it so no one thinks he’s weaker. He honors Kaito and still tries checking out everything that was written in his second monopad. He tries the hand scanner, but no luck. He decides then and there that Kaito is someone he can trust at the very least. The rest of the day is watching the shenanigans unfold.
Ryoma - Kirumi
Oh boy, being tall fucks him up hard. Sure, it’s easier to grab things, but he keeps shoulder checking everything, and the dress continued to get caught on everything if he didn’t pay any attention to it. He eventually tried to make use of the situation, trying to help others. However, when he sees how capable her body is, he hesitantly goes to his lab to see if it affects how he plays. Holding the racket in his hands feels foreign, yet good. He spends plenty of his time playing and avoiding socialization. When he leaves his ultimate lab, a small smile stays on his lips. Maybe he should request Kirumi to play against him if he ever comes back to it all.
 Shuichi - Maki
Shuichi knows that Maki has been hiding things, so he’s pleased when, out of all the people he could’ve been, he ends up in her body. Opening her closet and seeing a holster that supposedly goes on her leg for a knife freaked him out. He slipped past the crowd of people to check her ultimate lab out. Seeing the arsenal on the walls made him freak out hard, and he grasped the collar of his shirt trying to make it easier to breathe. He timidly checked everything, and cursed the fact that he could see Miu following his tracks throughout the rest of the day. He spends as much time as possible from then on avoiding her.
Tenko - Rantaro
Having to be a male absolutely kills her. She spends the entire day freaking out and being in a constant back and forth from trying to fawn over girls and diss males and freaking out about being a male. She even attempts to break into her room for her own clothing to be more comfortable. Unfortunately, she had no lock picking skills, and whoever was her was diligent enough to lock the door. She continuously blame Kokichi for everything, even though everyone is well aware that Kokichi isn’t even in his own body. However, she takes note of his second monopad, and watched the video. From that point  on,Tenko gives death glares to Rantaro as much as possible.
Tsumugi - Kokichi
Honestly? She should’ve been prepared for this. Considering she knew it was coming up for a fun episode of Danganronpa, she hid whatever she could think of that would uncover her big secret and went to bed. Waking up and seeing the mess in a ridiculous mess shocked her, and she cursed her luck for being horrible. She put it on and decided to give her best impression of Kokichi, considering she can wear his clothing in his body without getting cospox. Not to mention going through every little box in his room and his board of people that has notes on them, investigating where she originally couldn’t. Seeing his comment about Shuichi being possibly trustworthy had her wonder if he should become the main focus in the game instead of Kaede.

Hi hi! Could I please request hcs for Kokichi Rantaro Shuichi and Kiibo treating their SHSL daycare teacher S/O who is getting to be so clumsy that she fell very badly at work and has an injured knee? anon has had a long week and may or may not be in bed with tea and an ice pack reading this blog for comfort so thank you for all you do!
Tumblr media
I hope you’re feeling at least a little better now anon! But please allow these boys to comfort you yeees
~ Mod Celeste
Kokichi:
○ Que a super dramatic reaction the second he sees s/o’s injury. ‘I can’t believe my s/o is dying waahhhhh!!’ ‘Kokichi--’ ‘Sometimes I can still hear their voice.’ ‘this is so sad Alexa play despacito’
○ Of course, he only jokes because he can tell that the injury isn’t too serious. He’s gotten used to s/o being as clumsy as they are and he can generally tell just how much pain they’re in by their body language
○ He’ll set up a pillow fort around the couch so s/o has somewhere extra cozy to rest. Probably tries to prop them up on wayyy too many pillows but it’s still a nice gesture
○ Makes somewhat of a game out of it. He pretends that s/o is royalty and he’s their servant whenever he needs to bring them something. Occasionally he makes good-natured jabs at Kirumi while he does this
○ He probably even has a maid outfit tucked away that he’ll bring out if s/o is having a particularly rough time or is feeling particularly down. He got it for a prank initially, but he’ll wear it again if it’ll get s/o to smile
○ He will get a little whiny sometimes if s/o asks him to get something but it’s again, good-natured. He might complain about them being a slave driver or make a joke about them faking their injury so he’ll do all this for them, but he still won’t hesitate to actually get what they need
○ Sticks close to s/o’s side too. He doesn’t want them to be lonely but he knows they can’t strain themselves so he tries to keep himself occupied around the house, and even moves DICE’s secret meetings so he doesn’t have to be too far away from s/o
○ Gets a little pouty sometimes though. He gets bored with his partner in crime out of commission. He whines about it but it’s still half joking as he puts his head on s/o and whines about how he wants them to hurry up and get better already
○ It’s not the same as going out and doing the pranks, but the downtime does give Kokichi a lot of time to plan pranks with s/o, at least. It almost makes him antsier to carry them out, but with so much time to plan perfect pranks Kokichi knows it’ll be worth it to wait and do them together with s/o
○ The one upside for Kokichi is the snuggles. With s/o spending so much time sitting or laying down he has lots of opportunity to crawl on top of them and cuddle them. He spends a lot of time cuddling into their side or laying between their legs with his head on their stomach. Likes to pretend that he’s trapped s/o and they can’t run away because they’re stuck.
Rantaro:
○ Honestly he’s not surprised when s/o comes home limping, holding an ice pack to their knee. He’s gotten used to how clumsy they are. He hates to see them hurt but he has, to an extent, gotten used to it
○ Immediately he’s up and helping s/o walk to the couch so they can rest the injury. He might even scold them lightly for not calling him to come pick them up so they didn’t have to walk/drive on their injured leg the whole way home
○ Since s/o is clumsy and Rantaro is used to their little injuries he has a pretty good idea of what to do right away. He’s getting them a fresh ice pack, some pain medication, and anything else they find particularly comforting (tea, snacks, ect)
○ He’s actually really good at wrapping or dressing injuries if anything needs to be put on it to keep the knee steady. If not, he’ll still probably have some kind of band or something to help the healing process handy.
○ Doesn’t baby s/o, but he’s happy to help out. He won’t do everything for them but if they ask him to get up and grab something, or do something to ease the pain he doesn’t mind. He’ll spoil them a little, but keeps it reasonable
○ Rantaro has a very calm demeanor so he’s very reassuring to be around. Any spiraling, worried thoughts that s/o may have are easily quelled by just how calm Rantaro is. His laid-back approach is contagious
○ Of course, he does show worry if s/o shows any signs of extra pain or discomfort. He’s always quick to ask what’s wrong and what he can do to help.
○ Arranges lots of movie nights and other lazy, stay-in dates. He knows s/o can’t go out much or exert themselves but he doesn’t want them to feel lonely or too bored
○ He always lets s/o pick the movie or what they have to eat - whether it’s take out or something he needs to cook. In his mind, it’s as close as he can get to making the fact that they can’t get out as much up to them
○ When he can’t be home or starts getting too stir-crazy himself he’s sure to video chat with s/o and show them what he’s seeing. That was it’s almost like they’re right there with him! Kind of, anyway.
Shuichi:
○ Immediately worried when s/o comes home limping. His thoughts fly to worst case scenarios and he’s wondering if he should report your injury and find whoever hurt you, or do some detective work on his own and call Kaito for back up when he found the person...
○ He’s quite relieved to know that nobody hurt s/o though. He can’t help but sweatdrop a bit at their clumsiness, but at least it wasn’t anything more serious than a bad fall caused by accident.
○ No matter how often s/o’s clumsiness results in them hurting themselves Shuichi just can’t get used to it. He always worries, and frets over s/o a bit more than he needs to.
○ He’s always double checking to make sure the cabinets are stocked with medicine but he’s checking again anyway and maybe even running out to buy some extra stuff just in case.
○ Dotes on s/o, but mostly only if they ask. He’ll go out of his way to get anything they need and doesn’t really mind going out to get things they want either, as long as he’s not too wrapped up in a case.
○ Of course, he does check in on them from time to time. He’s not excessive, but if he’s running out he’ll make sure they don’t need anything and he just checks in every now and again to make sure they’re not in too much pain
○ Mostly leaves them to their own devices, to be honest. He doesn’t want to disturb them, and isn’t really sure how to keep them entertained. Of course, if s/o wants his company he’s more than happy to oblige. They just have to say something.
○ Shuichi probably ends up asking his friends about knee injuries. Maki and Tenko probably give some of the best advice as to how to help with the pain, and Shuichi will pass their suggestions along to s/o.
○ He does his own research too, on things he can do to help and on products that might be useful. He just wants to make s/o as comfortable as possible and help them heal as quickly as they can.
○ On one of his trips to the store to get something he ends up picking up an adorable teddy bear for s/o. He gives it to them saying he hopes it makes them feel better and keeps them company while he’s working. Literally he is an angel.
Kiibo:
○ Super worried! He’s not overly familiar with human injuries quite yet so he has a hard time understanding the severity of them sometimes. Because of this he always assumes they’re worse than they are so he’s quite panicked.
○ Poor thing is easily calmed down by s/o’s assurances that it’s nothing overly serious (it’s not broken and they’ll be able to walk again) but they just need to rest it for now but he’s still worried. Mostly he’s worried about how much it hurts, seeing as he has no real concept as to what human pain is like and doesn’t want s/o to be suffering.
○ Downloads all the information he can on injuries of s/o’s type - though s/o does have to assure him that the internet isn’t always right and they do not, in fact, have a rare bone disease startign in their knee. He just wants to get all the information he can so he can nurse s/o back to health to the best of his ability
○ Rest is the main thing they need, so Kiibo is going to insist that they move as little as possible as not to worsen the injury. He’ll get them anything they need at the top speed his hardware is capable of - which is honestly slightly below average but… he’s trying
○ Super attentive to any of their needs. He’s a bit much, checking in on s/o near constantly to make sure they don’t need any pain medicine, anything else to drink, to replace their ice pack, ect. but he’s doing his best
○ S/o does need to draw the line when Kiibo tries to carry them to the bathroom, though, Like, they need to move some, for starters and that’s… a little personal.
○ He’ll come home from the store a day after s/o’s injury with actual armfuls of medicines he thought may help. Pain killers, topical treatments, some tea: anything he thought might make s/o feel even a little better
○ He’s definitely going to make them see a doctor, if they haven’t already. If s/o refuses to go he’ll find a doctor willing to make a housecall. He just wants to be sure it isn’t anything more serious than s/o thinks.
○ Kiibo calls work for them, explaining the situation and telling them s/o will be off for a few days. They are going to rest and he’s going to make sure they and their injury get all the time needed to heal!

Hiya! Good luck on the blog! I was wondering if you could do the Ndrv3 boys meeting SHSL Scientist s/o? Thanks!
Enjoy!~
~
Mod Maki
~
Shuichi Saihara
• When meeting them for the first time, he would be very impressed that they were the Ultimate Scientist. That sounds really tough.
• He’s curious about what they specialize in, but he’s afraid of asking too many questions and seeming like he’s interrogating them.
• Some questions he’d ask are, “What do you specialize in?” or “How did you find out you were good at it?”
• He’s super impressed and he hopes to learn more about their talent in the future.
Kokichi Ouma
• He’s acting like he cares, but he’s actually not interested. At least, that’s what he’ll say if you ask him, but that’s not exactly reliable.
• Most likely he’ll try to recruit them for his secret organization. He says they’ll be like an evil mad scientist.
• Isn’t one to ask too many questions unless it’s to intentionally annoy the person (see: Kiibo), so he won’t be interrogating them at all.
• He especially likes them once the killing game starts. Since they’re so smart, his little tricks don’t work as well in the class trial. This is something that he likes, since he says it makes the game more fun.
Rantarou Amami
• He’s just impressed that they have an ultimate ability, unlike him. It doesn’t take much to impress him.
• But the Ultimate Scientist sounds like an especially impressive title. He’s super proud of them.
• In the normal world, he’s the type of guy who’d ask them for help on his homework all the time.
• In this world, though, he’s just glad they’re smart enough to have a decent chance of surviving.
Kiibo
• Impressive! It’s definitely a talent to be proud of, and he lets them know that right away.
• It reminds him of Iidabashi, actually. It makes him feel a little homesick sometimes.
• But that homesickness just reminds him how much he needs to get out of here, and he’s grateful for them giving him that motivation.
• He’d want to know what they think of his design. If they liked it, he’d blush a little and suddenly become shy.
Kaito Momota
• Since he’s the Ultimate Astronaut, he thinks their talent is really similar to his and he’s super excited about that.
• He’d ask a bunch of question, such as how they became a scientist and when they first wanted to be one.
• If they know a lot about space, expect that to be the main topic of conversation between the two.
• He’s glad that he found someone with a talent so similar to his; it makes him feel like part of the group.
Korekiyo Shinguuji
• Very interesting. It’s something he really wants to learn more about, though he already knows a lot about science.
• It’s also very similar to his ability. He doesn’t particularly care if it’s similar or not, but it does make him feel closer to them.
• He’d love to have conversations with them about their thoughts on the Earth. Just general things like humanity and ancient civilizations.
• They become friends in no time, probably on that first meeting actually.
Gonta Gokuhara
• A scientist? That means they know a lot about bugs, right? That means they like bugs, right?
• He only knows this because he’s technically a scientist too, since entomology is one of the sciences.
• So he just assumes they really like bugs, since he does too. He’s really excited to meet them!
• They probably know a ton about bugs and that’s what the two would talk about for a very long time.
Ryoma Hoshi
• He doesn’t particularly care what their talent is. At least, that’s what he thinks before he hears what it is.
• Oh, a scientist? …They’re much more talented than he was expecting.
• He ends up caring a lot more than he thought he would, since they have such an amazing ability and he doesn’t consider himself as having one anymore.
• It reassures him. They’re so smart and talented, so they definitely have a chance of surviving this messed-up game. Even if he doesn’t make it, maybe they will, and that’s all he wishes for.

ch4 (pt 2)
Shuichi just logged off!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
well, that’s probably why Miu’s avatar wasn’t moving.
Tumblr media
i’m sorry, what
all of ‘em are in there already except for Kaito, who comes running in at the body announcement.
Tumblr media
hm.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
he actually would, he basically sentenced Kaede to death already and if he didn’t ~pursue the truth~ it’d be breaking his promise to her. he wouldn’t be happy about it or anything, but even if Kaito killed someone he’d tell the truth about it.
talking about stuff~ Kaito says he believes in Shuichi because he’s his sidekick and they’ll investigate together, etc.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kaito says it’s not a problem because Shuichi isn’t the type to lie even if they work together, but since Kokichi’s being so persistent about it, he says that they won’t work together this time then.
Shuichi thinks that this is definitely some kind of trick of Kokichi’s, but he also knows that Kaito isn’t going to be convinced to just ignore him, so that’s how things are.
Tumblr media
not a ton of information in the file. no external injuries.
Tumblr media
apparently Kokichi’s going to be hanging around Shuichi to make sure Kaito doesn’t “bother him”. i’m fine with it! Shuichi is much less enthused.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
if you spend so much time being suspicious of every little thing Kokichi does, all you’re going to do is wear yourself out, Shuichi! if he’s done something the damage is already done, so all you have to do is deal with it and figure things out.
let’s talk to people!
Tsugumi apparently saw Miu about 10 minutes before she approached Shuichi, and when she approached Shuichi was about the same time they heard that loud noise.
Tumblr media
haha.
Tumblr media
Maki was checking out the computer and found out that if someone’s avatar took fatal damage, they’d die from shock. that’s probably something that Miu should’ve told them from the start!
oh, Kokichi just brought up the fact that she didn’t tell them. now Shuichi’s wondering about that, too.
the red bear offers to help “avenge his mommy’s death” by checking to make sure the files haven’t been tampered with. they haven’t, and he also found something else:
Tumblr media
log-in and log-out times! Kaito logged out well before everyone else (over an hour before anyone else), but otherwise nothing seems like it’s out of the ordinary.
Tumblr media
oh, here it is bigger.
Tumblr media
Kokichi was being mean to Gonta, so Shuichi stepped in, but after that...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
¯\_(ツ)_/¯  at least you’ve got another person actively helping the investigation now, i wouldn’t really worry about why it’s happening until it becomes a problem
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and then they found Miu’s avatar. she’d apparently volunteered to check the outside of the chapel, so that’s why she was outside.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
hmm. he says he didn’t look at Miu, so he doesn’t know if she was alive or not before he left.
why wouldn’t you look at everyone else after being logged out of something like that, wouldn’t you want to see if anyone else had been logged out at the same time?? who the hell has something like that happen and just goes “gee, better go take a nap and not look at any of the other people to check if anything’s gone wrong”?
it’s possible, especially since it’s Kaito, but what the heck.
anyway, moving on... Miu’s body being the way it is makes it seem like she died a painful death and that she might’ve been struggling to breathe when she died. strangulation?
Tumblr media
okay, calm down, mister.
Tumblr media
hey, it’s poison! from Shuichi’s lab, probably, like Kokichi is saying. apparently it’s a very lethal poison when ingested directly (not mixed with anything else), and it gives the victim bloodshot eyes.
Shuichi doesn’t know who brought it in for sure, but he does know whose chair it’s in right now.
Tumblr media
you can say Kokichi’s name in your own mental narration, Shuichi, it’s okay.
anyway, this might not be the crime scene, so they’ll have to go back to~
Tumblr media Tumblr media
yes! Kaito says that he’s going along too, in that case. a handful of others say they want to go back as well; Maki, Gonta, and Kokichi say they’ll stay behind.
Tumblr media
i wanna see your tiny little avatar again... Kokichi says he has to stay behind to keep an eye on Maki, since she and Kaito are so close.
Kaito predictably gets upset at pretty much everything Kokichi says, even though Maki tells him to just ignore him.
into the virtual world~
Tumblr media
yeah, but the loading point is in the middle. it’s obvious that there’s a way to the left side of the map from the right, since the wooden sign went down the river and ended up getting stuck on a rock on the left side. also, when Tsumugi and Shuichi heard Kiibo, they looked to their left--so they can hear things from that side.
Tumblr media
that’s just what you’re assuming, Shuichi!!
Tumblr media
hey, i found that earlier and Shuichi wouldn’t look at it!
Tumblr media
virtual crime scene! ...well, they’re all virtual crime scenes, i guess... since this is a video game...
the cell phone can log people out just by saying their name, so that’s important.
Kiibo overheard Miu and Kokichi talking about meeting on the roof before they all split up.
Tumblr media
...did she go sliding off the roof and into the wall of the chapel? because if so, that’s terrible, but also kind of funny.
Tumblr media
geez, Shuichi, what kind of a detective are you. the lattice was in here. you were standing right on it!
looking through the binoculars and Shuichi wonders why the map loading point would be in the middle. is it actually in the middle? if Miu made the maps, she can do whatever she wants with that kind of thing...
time to head back! Maki showed up and said that Monotaro is done with the computer stuff, so they should all gather back in the room.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
why would you ever want to draw something on his stomach...
anyway, Shuichi wants to ask him about his meeting with Miu.
Tumblr media
there was a lock on the roof door that could only be locked and unlocked from the roof itself. Kokichi can pick locks in the real world, but idk if he’d be able to in the virtual world...
Tumblr media
the hammer was the only weapon-like thing left, and it must have been left intentionally. the cellphone was in the simulation originally and Miu just never told anyone about it.
Miu’s avatar was classified as a “non-human object”. is that why she was able to get from one side of the map to the other? if the sign board can and it can go into the river, maybe it’s just because it’s an object.
Tumblr media
oh, apparently Miu added a wall to the world. and yep, non-human objects can pass right through it, so that explains that.
also, Kokichi’s avatar had a setting that made it so that if Miu touched him, he’d be paralyzed.
and finally, there was a weird user error when they first logged in. Monotaro can’t get more specific about it than that, but something weird was definitely going on with one of their avatars.
with that last bit of information, it’s time for the trial.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
it’s starting off well, clearly.
anyway, Kokichi says that Kaito poisoned Miu after logging out before everyone else, but obviously he didn’t. Kokichi himself made sure that Shuichi knew what that poison did (wrt eyes--Miu’s aren’t bloodshot).
the cause of death was the simulator. something happened to her in there.
Maki and Shuichi both think that she was strangled.
...was she strangled with the toilet paper???? nothing can break there, so it couldn’t have broken off even if it was used for something like that.
oh, hey, that’s the next question.
Tumblr media
i mean, she wasn’t that bad. did i like her? not particularly, for the most part. would i say she deserved to get strangled by toilet paper? no.
...was Miu planning on killing Kokichi with the hammer? if she had it with her and Kokichi would’ve been paralyzed just by her touching him, that’s kind of shady. actually, that’s super shady, since she was the only one that knew about the hammer and the paralyzing thing AND she knew how to get rid of Kaito and put him on the roof intentionally. what the hell, Miu, Kokichi is obnoxious and said some terrible things to you, but that doesn’t mean you should kill him in VR.
and yep, it sure does look that way. the hammer gets brought up, since the toilet paper is pretty sure to be the murder weapon, and they ask why she had it.
apparently Miu was the one that asked Kokichi to meet her, so yeah, she was definitely going to try to kill him. and the poison was put in his seat so it wouldn’t be obvious what happened. Miu logged in two minutes after everyone else, so she had plenty of time to do it.
a mini debate about ~trusting friends~ happens again. once that’s done, everyone wants to hear from Kokichi, since he was supposed to meet with Miu and she ended up dead.
Tumblr media
makes sense!
Shuichi stops everyone from arguing about how suspicious Kokichi is so that actual facts can be focused on. he wants to figure out the mysteries surrounding Miu’s death before they move on.
like, for example, how she got to the roof. she definitely was over there--Tsugumi saw her through the window of the dining hall. she got through via her secret wall.
aaa, Kaito interrupted Shuichi’s explanation about the wall and it startled me. why, Kaito.
Tumblr media
...he did interrupt. i don’t think he’s just holding Shuichi back or anything, though. he is legitimately trying to help and his support helps Shuichi.
Tumblr media
wow! why. she’s already dead! you don’t need to do that!
him saying that does get some hints from the bears, though, so...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
again:  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
he’s helpful in his own way when he feels like it, i guess. he’s just trying to have a good time.
speaking of that, the group has figured out that the sign must have passed through the wall, but they’re not sure how it got to the other side of the map.
Tumblr media
and he does help Shuichi, because he says that it’s the virtual world, so normal common sense doesn’t apply.
world loops! \o/
Tumblr media
yaaay, i actually know exactly everything i need to in this trial so far without having any trouble at all \o/
after the intermission, they try to figure out how the culprit got Miu’s body to the chapel if she’d been killed on the roof.
(also, something random i was wondering about that i finally got to find out by paying attention and listening: Gonta and Kiibo seem to be the only two people Kokichi doesn’t refer to as “last name-chan”--he just uses their first(/only) names.)
Kokichi, giving Shuichi the roof slope and everything else as a hint... that’s making it too obvious, geez. he should be able to figure that out without any hints!
why does Shuichi remember the lattice being in the storage room now when he didn’t remember it before... what the heck.
Tumblr media
oh, Monokuma hates Sonic the Hedgehog. o:
Tumblr media
maybe?
Tumblr media
~exposing Kokichi’s lie~
the one about him not going to the roof at all. he said that, but then he described the roof in a good amount of detail, so it’s bothering Shuichi.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
she didn’t say anything about the roof...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
:o aggressive Shuichi, huh.
wait, does getting aggressive mean lying back at him? i suck that that, Shuichi! i don’t know what you want me to lie about! uhhh... um. he could... pretend like he went into the salon and didn’t see Kokichi in there...?
oh! it worked on my first try! \o/
obviously everyone’s going to believe Shuichi over Kokichi. bu~t, Tsugumi would’ve seen Shuichi pass by if he’d actually gone to the salon, and she never noticed him.
Tumblr media
he tried so hard... oh, never mind, she still believes him even though it makes no sense.
Shuichi could absolutely get away with murder at this point if that was something he actually wanted to do.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
haha. what happened to being his ~partner~?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kokichi figured out what Miu was planning and decided to work with Monokuma to make his own plan, is essentially what he confesses.
Tumblr media
that’s not much of a revenge, though--
Tumblr media
o:
Gonta has no idea what he’s talking about. also, no one believes Kokichi. they still think he did it.
Tumblr media
it’s true, there is. if Kokichi was touched by Miu he wouldn’t have been able to move, so there’s no way he could have killed her.
Tumblr media
wah
Tumblr media
chibi strangulation...
everyone still wants to say it’s Kokichi because they can’t believe Gonta is even capable of killing someone, but Shuichi thinks that something’s off. he knows how important it is to believe in people, but something just isn’t adding up for him right now.
Tumblr media
aw, Gonta. :( but... i mean, Shuichi’s 100% right, they can’t just believe in Gonta and not pursue this. Kaito can get as upset about it as he wants, he’s the one that befriended a detective that promised to never turn away from the truth.
Tumblr media
i didn’t get lost while picking the topics this time! \o/ this trial has been going pretty well for me; i don’t know if it’s because i’m more awake right now or if i’m just more used to the minigames...
anyway, everyone starts yelling because Kokichi yells at Gonta to say more than “i don’t know”, which is pretty much the only thing he’s been saying. Shuichi realizes that Gonta has been confused about things ever since they logged out.
Tumblr media
and Gonta lost his memory because of it somehow. possibly because he put the cords in wrong.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
wow, being a lefty really screwed him over there, didn’t it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
haha. that’s been Shuichi’s reaction to so much of what Kokichi’s been doing... that or just going “え?”
and honestly, by process of elimination, it is obvious who committed the crime. Kokichi and Gonta were the only two that weren’t accounted for, and Kokichi physically couldn’t have killed her.
i’ve got to be honest, i don’t want Gonta to die here, but i can’t help but be impressed by the amount of work Kokichi put into this and everything he’s getting from it.
he got to work with Shuichi like he wanted, he got revenge on Miu for trying to kill him, he drove a wedge between Kaito and Shuichi solely by using the truth against them, he got to plan a murder without getting punished for it, and he got to have fun with the trial while knowing all of the twists.
Kaito still refuses to accept it, saying that Gonta was outside the mansion when Tsugumi and Shuichi came outside, so he couldn’t have done it. but that’s not true, because he could have used the toilet paper to climb down from the roof.
Tumblr media
he’s said it like 500 times, he’s there to face the truth. face the truth. you know, like he did when he essentially sentenced Kaede to death even though he probably really would’ve preferred to let her live somehow, because he knew how important facing the truth was to her and he basically promised to continue doing that so he (and everyone else) can get out of here.
it’s not about sides!
Tumblr media
that alien...
anyway, apparently Kokichi came up with the plan of using the toilet paper to exit the roof. he told Gonta to put it back in the bathroom, but since Gonta ran into Shuichi and Tsumugi, he ended up tossing it instead.
Kokichi tries to get Gonta to confess, but Shuichi stops him. he says if anyone’s getting Gonta to confess, it’s going to be him.
he’s much gentler about it than Kokichi has been, that’s for sure. what a sweetheart.
Tumblr media
Kokichi looks like an evil knockoff Precious Moments doll in that last panel...
Tumblr media
the little chibi people are cute...
Tumblr media
i’m guessing that Kaito is the one that voted for Kokichi there.
...the people that died in this chapter were the last two i hadn’t spent any time with... oops.
Tumblr media
:O
Monokuma just made that...
anyway, Kokichi saw the outside world due to the card key. he asked Monokuma to reuse the outside world in the virtual world and then showed it to Gonta, which made Gonta even more confused about what he could do to help everyone (which he’s been worried about for a while now).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
hm.
Tumblr media
he won’t explain more than that, though. he just honestly thought he’d be helping them.
oh hey, Gonta noticed Miu go through the wall and that’s why she ended up being slid off the roof.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
hmm.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
hmmm.
Tumblr media
honey, if you really didn’t want him to go, you wouldn’t have messed up during the trial.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
what the hell did i just watch
anyway, people are upset and crying now. Maki tells Kokichi to tell them the secret of the outside world, now, so they can understand.
Tumblr media
Kokichi doesn’t want to tell them anything.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kaito gets more pissed off the more Kokichi talks until he’s had enough and goes to punch him again like he did before. but...
Tumblr media
Kokichi noticed that Kaito seems to be slower than before, too.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
how is her hair doing that
anyway, everyone starts to ignore Kokichi in favor of helping Kaito.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
oh, wow. that’s cold, Shuichi, you have his underwear in your inventory.
(i know that doesn’t change anything in the game, but it is kind of funny...)
Kokichi doesn’t seem too bothered by Shuichi saying that. he pretty much just says he’s bored and leaves after saying he’ll be the one to win this game.
after that, everyone’s 100% focused on Kaito, who doesn’t seem to be doing well at all.
Tumblr media
that’s a lot of blood!
lmao “my cold just got worse” what kind of terrible lie is that even
he says he just needs something to drink and to rest in his room. Shuichi offers to help him, but Kaito doesn’t want his help.
Tumblr media
oooh, did he go back to using Shuichi’s last name? did that trial actually do permanent damage to their friendship? :o i figured it’d cause problems, but i wasn’t sure if Kaito would actually hold a grudge like this.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
seriously, how do you do that with your face
Tumblr media
oh, his name is on there! i was wondering. that’s part of the reason i figured i’d be able to realize what it was if i saw it in Japanese, because if any part of “Ouma” was on there i’d at least know it had something to do with him.
...the reason why i started wondering about it is because i was going to make a stupid joke about grandmas in one of the earlier posts, since “Oma” is the German word for “Grandma”, and then i remembered that’s actually how they spell Kokichi’s last name here. >_>
that’s it for this chapter! idk what’s up with Kokichi, but i guess i’ll find out eventually. :U  i need to go to sleep now because it’s almost noon. those trials always take longer than i think they do...

Hope you don't mind me asking. I'm just curious. What exactly are your problems with Kiyo (besides him being a killer), Kokichi (besides him being basically a killer), and V3 as a whole?
Honestly, sometimes I forget that my opinions are on public display like that on my Amino/Instagram. Especially the Amino ones, cause those are sort of out of date.
Anyway, thanks for asking this question!
I do want to preface this by saying a little something though: My takes on V3 should not be taken as 100% valid! Why, you may ask? Well... confession time, I haven’t played all V3. At the time it came out, I was harshly disinterested. Rather than experiencing it for myself, I chose to read up on it and learn what happened for myself. I’ve never been someone who’s particularly bothered by spoilers (much to the chagrin of literally everyone I’ve ever known), so I didn’t think anything of it at the time. And when I looked in to it, I didn’t like what I read and thought that it was good that I didn’t bother playing it for myself. I felt this way for a long time, rejecting all V3 things, until eventually I was lovingly bullied in to picking up the game myself. So while there are aspects of V3 I have experienced beyond my readings, it’s not done in full for me at all yet, so there could be several gaps in my knowledge or just my feelings. Please don’t take everything I say as my one and only interpretation, because it’s true that many of the feelings I express in my answer could be subject to change. I recognize that these takes aren’t valid because I haven’t experienced the game in full. It’s the same as when someone criticizes Danganronpa 3 without having seen it themselves: sure, you know how it’s written so you have some thoughts on it... but it’s still best to experience it yourself to formulate your own opinions. That’s what I’m intending to do, but I haven’t gotten around to it fully yet... because it’s an experience I’m hoping to share, if I play my cards right.
Really though, if I am to explain the offences I have at the current level of V3 I am on, I would say that each of these three aspects of V3 are explained… probably more simplistically than one would expect. I see a lot of people who have these in-depth reasons as to why they feel so strongly about a certain aspect of Danganronpa, and while I can be that person sometimes… here, not so much.
Besides being a killer, honestly Korekiyo just makes me uncomfortable. Like even beyond the incest thing, there’s something about him that absolutely puts me off. I tried watching his Free Time Events to see if I could stir up some love for him, but I found myself making any excuse to stop every five minutes. I can’t say that I like his design or his mannerisms, and his voice actor communicates Korekiyo’s creepiness well… but I couldn’t find it in me to get past to what some people would refer to as the softer, sweeter aspects of Kiyo. Even the anthropologist element couldn’t save Kiyo for me, and I honestly thought it might. I’ve taken a few anthropology classes myself and I think the topic in itself is interesting enough. However, hearing Kiyo talk about it just either felt boring or off-putting, and I can’t say that I one hundred percent know exactly why that I ended up feeling that way. I suppose it’s fair to say that anthropology is a rather broad topic, and that what Kiyo spoke of in his FTEs wasn’t exactly my point of interest. But if you jump away from the anthropological aspect of Korekiyo, I’m with the majority in saying that the incest thing just made me flat out uncomfortable.
At this point you could absolutely argue that it’s unfair of me to slander Korekiyo for being incesty if another character I love is Kanon Nakajima, a girl who has extreme and obsessive romantic feelings for her first cousin. However, I would justify myself in saying that the primary reason why Kanon works for me and Korekiyo doesn’t all boils down to other aspects of character. Do I think it’s creepy the way Kanon talks about and acts around Leon? Yes, of course. But the thing about Kanon is that she manages to utilize her other traits to become likeable in spite of it. She has all kinds of other quirks and traits that exist outside of being Leon’s creepy cousin who’s in love with him. Her whole presence as a character isn’t for the sake of being chilling, whereas I find much of Korekiyo’s character is to be weird and unnerving. It’s easier to get behind Kanon because I feel like she’s not just madly in love with Leon, but rather has other parts to her existence that are meant to make her realistic outside of it. Korekiyo, while he does have additional character traits, seems to be crafted with the intention of being creepy.
I also know that at this point some people would want to argue that I’ve judged Korekiyo all wrong because his sister manipulated him into loving her and he’s actually an abuse victim, and I won’t dispute them. Do I agree with them? I can’t say, because the interpretation itself is just that: interpretation. Just because another interpreted it that way doesn’t mean that I will interpret something the same way, and so on and so forth. But even the line between “is Korekiyo an abuse victim or not” is something that puzzles me, because otherwise, the wrong person could boil it down to the question of Korekiyo stooping down to the level of his abusive sister by manipulating and murdering Tenko and Angie (and just to be clear, this question is not something that I personally believe). And even if maybe that seems like a far-fetched interpretation that someone could draw, the suggestion that an abuse victim will turn out like their abuser makes me undeniably frustrated. It would send a message that I don’t feel is appropriate in the slightest, and play in to the fear that many real life abuse victims have.
All in all, the way Korekiyo was constructed just doesn’t have what I would call the “Koto appeal”. They simply had a different Danganronpa player in mind when they were designing him, and that’s perfectly fine. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with liking Korekiyo, he’s just very far from my cup of tea.
Something like Kokichi, I would say.
Kokichi already gets a hard time from me because honestly… I don’t find I like characters who are just out to make the player’s life harder. It’s not even a “i’m bad at video games” thing, it’s just that I genuinely find myself frustrated with characters like Byakuya and Nagito sometimes because I’m just trying to do my job, how dare you be trying to screw me up, you little shit!
So he’s already got beef with me right there, especially being the one that’s so much more challenging to fight against than the others. The dude’s high jacking entire trials and you just have to sit there with an “I guess this happening” expression as you try to work out the problem. I already play Danganronpa on gentle because something about the game just makes my inner potato brain skyrocket to like 500%, so Kokichi is kind of a pain in the ass for me. Which I get he’s supposed to be, but I don’t like it.
His character relationships don’t help me, either. While I am fully aware that it’s all an act, the insensitivity is still harmful to the people around him. Yes, he does have this put on for the sake of fulfilling this plan of his and preventing the others from mourning him when he eventually does die. Unfortunately that plan in itself is a problem for me too though, after seeing a fan reconstruction of his plot to avoid the deaths of Gonta and Miu. Which even if it was a necessary sacrifice, makes Kokichi feel slightly more cruel to me -- although I know some may think that it shouldn’t. The behaviour still just sits badly with me, not to mention that even if you consider the inklings of Kokichi being a good guy… I don’t feel as if I can say with confidence really anything about him. Which again falls back on to a personal writing problem with me, because I am entirely an audience who likes to know things. That’s part of the reason why I write fankid fic: because there are things that I like to know that Kodaka will not confirm nor deny for me. So I took matters in to my own hands in hopes of satisfying both myself and others with where things will go. But if I don’t feel like I know Kokichi and my only evidences of him are of him being a jerk, it doesn’t lead me to like him very much.
Which is also what throws me for a loop with Danganronpa V3 as a whole, actually! All of the end revelations got me pretty badly in the sake that I have a vague notion of things that they showed me pregame, but otherwise there’s a lot that the game leaves unanswered. I mean, on the flipside, there’s absolutely evidence that everything we got to see was true… But until I know, I have trouble enjoying V3 totally.
Plus, it also just contains my least favourite cast. I still like some of them, but there are more that I either don’t like or don’t care about. As you mentioned before, I’m not excited about Korekiyo or Kokichi. And maybe I just don’t know anything about them yet, but I’m not terribly interested in Kirumi, Ryoma, Tenko, or Rantaro. I have a little bit of love for characters like Himiko, Gonta, and Tsumugi. And to be fair, I do like Kaede, Kaito, Kiibo, Miu, Maki, and Shuichi a decent amount. But still, compare that to games like Danganronpa 1 where the only character I actively dislike is Hifumi... then it just comes out as my least favourite. Even with Super Danganronpa 2, I have a sort of dislike-like for characters like Nagito and Kazuichi. I don’t completely dislike them in the same way I do some of the characters in V3.
Really, though, I know all of this is stuff that I personally think about V3 is subject to change. After awhile of straight up disliking it and refusing to play it like the stubborn child that I am, I do fully intend to commit myself to the game and maybe change some of my opinions along the way. Sure, it’s fine for me to have some of this opinions and ideas based off of what I do know, but ultimately I know it’s something I have to experience for myself for my take on it to be actually valid.
Hopefully if I can work out the things I need to try and work out, you guys might even be able to watch me experience it for the first time... but that all depends on how well my computer can handle running the appropriate programs simultaneously. Fingers crossed, though!

How'd the boy react if their s/o is killed in the killing game?
Hehehe, get ready for some beautiful angst. Hope this is okay!
Korekiyo Shinguuji
When the body announcement went off, he didn’t think much of it--in fact he was rather curious to see who had bitten the dust this time.
However, as he approached the crime scene, everyone started to look at him funny--fearfully, anxiously, pitifully? Why? He felt a sense of dread rise within his chest. Kaede even tried to stop him from visiting the crime scene.
The last thing he expected was to see your hollow, lifeless body slumped over, blood dripping from your chest.
Suffice to say he didn’t take it particularly well.
He tried to maintain his composure while investigating, but he was colder and more detached than usual. He didn’t bother to look at anyone in the eye. You could see him trying to control his trembling. For the rest of the investigation, he stayed dead silent...alone, in his mind, mourning you and swearing to avenge you. He’d get your killer for you both, one way or another.
He will do everything in his power to unmask your killer during the trial. Literally won’t stop til they have a breakdown and confess to your murder.
He watches your killer’s execution without a shred of compassion in his eyes. He hopes you are happy in the heavens that your killer has been caught. Justice has been served...it’s the least he can do for you.
He retreats to his room afterwards, and acts like nothing happened. But he breaks down every night by himself, and you can tell that a big part of him has died with you.
Expect your favorite flowers on your memorial every day.
Rantarou Amami
Handles it the best out of all the boys, or at least that’s what it looks like.
Is shocked and heartbroken when he discovers your body, and needs a couple of minutes to compose himself. Tears begin to form in the corners of his eyes and for the first time in his life, he’s unsure on what to do. Pushes everyone who tries to help him away.
His survivor instincts kick in and he begins investigating the crime scene, dead silent. He puts a jacket over your corpse after he’s done searching.
Before the trial begins, he asks everyone if he can have a moment by himself. No one really questions him and complies with his request.
He breaks down like never before, holding your body close to his heart. He lets out loud, tearjerking sobs of anger and despair. Why?! Why would anyone kill someone as innocent and beautiful as you? Why did they have to take you from him...You were his everything. What is he going to do without you?
He stays like that for a couple of hours, trying to desperately cling to the little warmth left in you. Once your body becomes stone cold, he decides that it’s time to let go of you. Before he leaves, he kisses your lips one last time and whispers a very heartfelt “I love you” into your ears.
He comes out of the room as if nothing had happened, but anyone could see how absolutely emotionally exhausted and broken he was. He offers his classmates a weak smile before heading towards the trial.
He isn’t himself during the trial--he is a bit more rash and emotional than usual, which doesn’t surprise anyone. But he still successfully manages to catch your killer, and he doesn’t hesitate in taunting them and belittling them, malice evident in his harsh words. He’d never forgive them for what they did to you.
He watches the execution, but doesn’t feel anything. He can’t even feel happy that he brought your killer to justice. He just wants you there with him.
Tries his damn hardest to repress his emotions, but can’t help but break down every night before going to sleep. Has recurring nightmares about you. On the surface though, it seems like nothing had even happened. Everything was fine, yep. Don’t worry about him!
Kokichi Ouma
Breaks down the second he sees your body. Becomes a shivering, panicking mess. No one can calm him down. He is yelling at everyone, threatening that he will get everyone killed in the worst possible way for letting this happen to you.
But at the end of the day, he only blames himself for your death. He should have been able to protect you. But no, he failed, like usual.
Can’t even bring himself to investigate the crime scene. Looking at your body is enough to set him off. Just thinking about it makes him physically sick.
Can’t even crack a joke or a prank. Instead, all of his words are laced with genuine malice and danger. His hatred and distrust for his classmates is stronger than ever.
He swears he will get his revenge for you.
Doesn’t say much the entire trial. When he does open his mouth, it’s either to insult everyone or talk about how much better of a person you were in comparison to them.
When the culprit is revealed, he goes absolutely insane. He has to be forcefully removed from the trial or else they’d have another murder on their hands.
Doesn’t even react to the news that your killer has been executed. Wishes he had been the one to murder them, but knows that won’t bring you back.
Locks himself in his room for the rest of the game. Forgets to eat and has almost no energy whatsoever to take care of himself. Only really shows up at the class trials and doesn’t say much, if anything at all. The dark circles under his eyes are enough to say that he hasn’t been sleeping at all either.
Builds a little yet heartfelt shrine in his room for you, in a dire attempt to keep you close to him. It doesn’t work.
Shuichi Saihara
Has no reaction initially to the sight of your corpse. Believes this is just an unpleasant nightmare, or that you somehow followed Ouma’s advice and pulled a terrible, heartbreaking prank on him.
His heart begins to race and he nearly throws up when he realizes that, no, it wasn’t a prank...
You were dead. The love of his life was murdered in cold blood.
He screams--he is shaking, the color from his face has vanished, and he is in absolute panic.
He has to be removed from the crime scene by Kaito and Maki.
The two of them stay close to him and attempt to calm him down. After his screaming has subsided, he simply slumps over and buries his face in his knees, unsure on what to do or how to feel.
He keeps asking himself, who’d do something like this to someone as beautiful, innocent and kind as you? Who?
How ironic that the “Ultimate Detective” had to investigate the murder of the love of his life.
He tried to pick himself up and investigate for your sake, but he couldn’t. His self esteem was crushed, and for a split second he considered in “joining you”, wherever you were now.
But he couldn’t...he had to live on, for your sake. He was adamant on abandoning his dreams to fulfill yours. He wanted to keep you alive in his heart.
Stays dead silent in the trial. Can’t even open his mouth to say anything, the words are stuck in his throat.
Gives up on his title as the ultimate detective and goes back to hiding himself under his hat.
Kaito Momota
Much like Ouma, he breaks down the instant he sees your body.
He’s in severe denial for a while, laughing frantically to himself and begging everyone to stop with this “terrible prank”.
But the expression in everyone’s faces makes him realize that unfortunately, it isn’t a prank.
He is hit with a wave of anger, desperation and uncontrollable sadness. He begins shouting mercilessly at everyone, accusing them of killing you as part of some sick twisted plan to make him miserable. He starts threatening everyone and nearly punches Ouma (again).
His paranoia is off the shorts, and he needs Kiibo to forcibly remove him from the crime scene.
He punches walls, breaks glasses, throws objects. What is he going to do without you?!
Why...Why you, of all people! He doesn’t get it! Anyone but you!
He swears he’ll get the culprit for you....even if it’s the last thing he does, for your sake.
Appears late to the trial because he was off doing his own investigation. He’s beyond heartbroken, but he won’t let that stop him from trying to avenge you. His investigation proves crucial to bring down the killer. Hopes the killer rots in hell, and watches their execution without a shred of guilty or compassion.
But avenging you isn’t enough for him.
It won’t bring you back.
Spends most of his time stargazing. He often forgets that you’re no longer there with him.
But he decides to name your favorite star after you, so every time he looks at the sky you’ll be there, looking down on him and cheering him on for all eternity.
Kiibo
Freezes up at the sight of your body.
His first emotion is confusion. Desperate confusion.
He doesn’t get it. Why you? You’ve never hurt anyone. Heck, you’d never hurt a little fly, let alone someone else. Is that why they decided to target you? But why...why would they take you away from him?
His faith in humanity is destroyed, and he becomes significantly less trusting and more reserved.
He screams nonstop. No one has the courage to talk to him when he is in this state. They doubt he’d listen to them at all.
He doesn’t investigate. It’s too much for him.
When all the others have finished with their investigations, he visits the crime scene to spend one last moment with you. He thanks you for everything you’ve done for him, for making him feel special despite him not being human. He hopes that you’re listening to him, somehow.
Your trial is so incredibly difficult for him--he has never looked this depressed in his whole life. But he makes an effort for you. He tries to contribute as much as possible, to make you proud one last time.
Makes sure no one forgets you or your death. Will spend most of his time in front of your memorial, reminiscing about all the good times you two spent together as one.
But it isn’t enough to fill the void in his heart, and he doubts it will ever be filled.
Gonta Gokuhara
Is absolutely devastated about your death. In fact, devastated doesn’t even begin to describe the grief he feels in his heart.
Looking at this gentle giant crying is enough to make almost anyone cry as well...
He clutches your body almost desperately, begging you to come back for him.
Please, don’t abandon him... Please.
But he knows you won’t come back...no matter how many time he begs.
This is the cruel reality of the game.
Everyone tries to help him, but their efforts are in vain. He doesn’t want to be helped. He just wants you to come back to his arms.
Hardly contributes to the trial...Stays silent and loses himself in his thoughts.
Doesn’t even feel fulfilled after watching your killer getting executed. In fact, he’s even more depressed now.
Names a beautiful butterfly resembling your appearance after you, which never leaves his side. He likes to believe that somehow your spirit is living through that delicate butterfly, and it eases his mourning.
Becomes more reserved, but his kindness doesn’t falter. He still wants to bring happiness to anyone, because he knows that’s what you’d want.
Ryouma Hoshi
His first reaction after discovering your body is to punch a wall.
He might be short, but his temper is fearsome. He blames himself for your death.
It should have been him, not you.
You were so pure, so sweet, so loving.
He’d never forgive the person who killed you. Hell, he even contemplated murdering the entire class out of pure blind rage. But then he wouldn’t be any better than your own killer, would he?
The guilt he feels is so overwhelming, he breaks down in public. No one has ever seen Ryouma like this before.
His gaze is menacing, even managing to scare people like Ouma.
Is incredibly persistent during the trial. He will not stop til he sees your killer dead.
Makes sure to savor the moment of their execution.
Doesn’t fall in love ever again. His heart belongs to you, and you only, for all eternity.
