woman: /disagrees with something a m*n says
everyone: not only is she hysterical, insane, wrong, crazy, evil, selfish and cruel, but she deserves to be mass bullied, persecuted, tortured and violated in every possible way for what she’s done, she needs to face the Consequences!!!
m*n: /physically tortures a woman in the most intimate and traumatic way possible
everyone: well, punishing him would set up a dangerous precedent that rape of women is suddenly wrong, also it would hurt his career prospects, and anyway boys will be boys lets forgive him instantly and focus on what that woman might have done to bring this on herself!!

#medical misogyny
Misdiagnosed & Mistreated - Misogyny & Androcentrism in Medicine
Although it is a well established scientific fact that the female body acts and reacts medically often very different than the male body, these differences get widely ignored. This widespread misogyny and androcentrism in medicine frequently gets women misdiagnosed and mistreated, which often proves deadly.
Studies found that females presenting with a heart attack were more likely to die when a male doctor treated them, compared with a female doctor.
Women are also 50% more likely to get their heart attack misdiagnosed - for their (typical to females) symptoms get seen as atypical and often dismissed; based upon only male symptoms getting seen as typical and indicative.
Female patients are also less likely to be prescribed preventative treatment after an initial attack.
Women are half as likely as men to receive pain killers after surgery.
When getting surgery, women have a 32% higher risk of dying - when operated on by a male surgeon.
They also have to wait longer to receive pain management medication in emergency rooms as well as often simply getting sedated instead of recieving pain management. No such effect is seen in male patients.
Female patients generally have to wait for significantly longer timespans to get a diagnosis. Per example, it takes typically 2.5 more years for a woman to be diagnosed with cancer and 4.5 more years for a diabetes diagnosis compared with men. In total, women were found to get diagnosed much later in more than 700 diseases compared to men.

comment on a video of a man wearing a skirt and what said commenter looks like
Tumblr media Tumblr media
seriously considering doing a series of these. just exposing the people who leave needless hate. it is almost ALWAYS an ugly ass man. the insecurity is palpable. someone should publish a study on the way men in instagram comments think & behave
the 2 things that strike me most are
- equating wearing a skirt with degeneracy
and
- considering capability of violence an important aspect of masculinity
men who uphold patriarchal standards tell on themselves everyday. I notice this even more after having read All About Love by bell hooks. we live in a society that teaches young men to seek power over love. men who hold little status in society often project their internalized rejection outward onto others. it gives them a small sense of that power they so crave & are taught that they need. in my opinion we can trace every issue this world faces back to the desire to seek power over others. clearly this unfortunate individual is an example of that being enacted on a smaller scale.

Wounded
How can I
Trust men again,
When each time I let my guard down
They hurt me?
How do I
Heal from the trauma
Inflicted upon me by my rapist,
When men continue to
Sexualize, harass, and assault me
Along with all of the other women in my life?
How, as women, do we
Heal from our patriarchal wounds
When men are constantly
Ripping out the stitches
And re-traumatizing us?

Kinda sad to think about, but I wonder if I’d have been more likely to get into engineering type stuff if sexism wasn’t a thing…
Like no one’s ever stopped me from doing things like that, but I’d still say to myself in my head that I would be out of place for doing it for whatever reason :[
It’s weird tho, cause in most other areas of life I don’t usually give a damn about gender expectations and all that, but in the subject of technology I still ended up feeling like It’s not something I should pursue.
Been trying to remove that kind of thinking from my head, but it’s hard sometimes. It gets a bit lonely feeling like an exception to things rather than being welcomed.
As a sort of extension to what I’m talking about, I’ve noticed that people like to say things that are progressive in one way or another, but then will still silently operate on principles that reflect the opposite (because of societal influence).
This isn’t something I’m exempt from, and no one truly is because of how social we are as a species, but I do wish more people were able to let themselves do without it and stop limiting themselves and others more often.
In that regard I still often feel lonely existing as a girl that doesn’t buy into the things we’re so often silently and not so silently pushed into doing. There are a lot of things that I feel some kind of pressure to participate in despite my disinterest. Mostly because I feel like I become more of an outsider within my gender for not doing them.
(Btw, I’m not exactly the most cis girl, but what I’m talking about here notably calls upon that kind of experience 👍)

Where the GQP and SCOTUS are heading
Tumblr media
We watched Women Talking last night, and I have to say it is unsettling. While the movie drags a bit and seems a touch preachy at points, the overall message is a gut punch. In 2010 America there exists a Gilead where women are literally kept barefoot and pregnant, unable and indeed not allowed to read or write. They are also subject to frequent and violent rape by any man in the 'colony'. The movie hinges around whether the women have the courage, the strength, or even the ability to escape.
I cannot help but see lessons in current America, and I cannot help but be afraid for my granddaughters.

My hatred towards men is soooo deep rooted in my family, in my home, starting from my dad, then my uncle and then my granddad.
I wish to be single forever and die an agonizing death than get married off to a family like mine.

grieving the life i could have lived had i been born a son.
grieving the love i could have received from my mother had i been born a son.
grieving the relationship i could have had with my mother had i been born a son rather than a wretched daughter.
grieving the love, grace, and forgiveness that was stolen from me because i was born a girl.
grieving for all the daughters who have had the love they deserve withheld from them.

american men are, universally, weak and inferior. No exceptions
abusers and pedos. That's all they are. Weak cowards who hide behind guns because they can't face reality. And the women who marry them

#anti sex industry
• Human Trafficking & the Sex Industry
Human trafficking is the second largest and fastest growing criminal industry in the world, second only to drug trafficking.
Human trafficking earns global profits of roughly $150 billion a year for traffickers, $99 billion of which comes from commercial sexual exploitation.
Globally, an estimated 71% of enslaved people are women and girls, while men and boys account for 29%. This encompasses all forms of human trafficking, of which the two most common forms are forced labour trafficking and sexual exploitation.
Concerning sex trafficking specifically, over 94% of victims are female.
If we add all child victims - girls and boys - to the number of sex trafficked women, we get over 99% of all victims in sexual slavery.
Studies suggest that only about 0.04% survivors of human trafficking cases get ever identified, meaning that the vast majority of cases of human trafficking go undetected.

Maleness is not "the" neutral state and standart as much as femaleness is not just the other, the deviation, only the "non-male" or "non-men".
We are all human - no two of us are the same, but we're all equal.
