The Summoner

So! Danny is not the Ghost King.

But he still has a good relationship with a LOT of Powerful and not-so-powerful Ghosts in the Zone. So much so that they have given him their Summoning Circle's with a blanket permission to Summon them any time. Not like they have much else going on...

This all leads to a hilarious situation where Danny can't use his Powers for whatever reason and is forced to Summon his friends for help. In front of a group of Heroes.

He has to explain everything to them, but accidentally convinces them that he has Summoning Magic and the Ghosts are all on his Contract. He also mentions Saving people from Ghosts and the JLA realize that he is a child Hero.

They ask him if he wants to join Young Justice, and Danny hesitantly agrees.

Now Danny is on Young Justice and the entire team thinks that he is a Hero with Ghost Summoning Magic.

And his name isn't Daniel "Commit to the Bit" Fenton for no reason.

Gibraltar Government Welcomes Cabinet Appointments After Rishi Sunak Takes Over As UK Prime Minister

In what has proved another highly politically eventful week in the UK, former Chancellor of the Exchequer Rishi Sunak has emerged victorious in the latest truncated Conservative Party leadership contest, and now taken his place as Prime Minister, following Liz Truss’s resignation. 

Many observers will hope that Mr Sunak’s rise to the top job in UK politics will mark the beginning of much greater political and economic stability for the country after a turbulent period – especially Ms Truss’s 50-day spell in office at 10 Downing Street. 

Among those observers will be key political and business leaders in the British Overseas Territory of Gibraltar, from which warm words have already been extended to the new Prime Minister. Equally encouraging as far as the Gibraltar Government was concerned, was Mr Sunak’s decision to have on board two key ministers with a history of positive engagement with Gibraltar. 

Heartening news for Gibraltar as the UK looks to another new era 

As reported by the Gibraltar Chronicle, Gibraltar Chief Minister Fabian Picardo said he was “delighted to note the return of Dominic Raab, a historic friend of Gibraltar”, in response to the news that Mr Sunak had brought the former Deputy Prime Minister and Justice Secretary back to those same roles he had held in Boris Johnson’s Government. 

Not only that, but James Cleverly was also confirmed to be continuing in his role as Foreign Secretary, to which he had first been appointed in September by Ms Truss. From February to July this year, he served as Europe Minister. 

Mr Picardo described himself as “particularly happy” about Mr Cleverly remaining in his position, which he said was “testament to the excellent work he has done in the time he has been in post, not least in relation to Gibraltar and our important, ongoing, negotiations with the European Union.” 

The Chief Minister added: “Both Mr Raab and Mr Cleverly are individuals with whom I have enjoyed working in the past in their time in the British Cabinet. 

“I have written to both Mr Cleverly and Mr Raab to congratulate them on their appointments and to highlight how useful it is to have them now in posts that will be relevant to Gibraltar.”

yeah, so i'm referring to my patreon!

it's explained a bit on my intro post on the site, but i offer sneak peeks to my works (longer than what i post to tumblr. tumblr usually sees 150 words while on patreon i put it around 500-1k words) and early access to my long form fics a day before they're posted on tumblr and ao3. so like chapter 12 of in limbo is on there right now!

On a side note, political campaigning will have limited impact outside of the USA who hold a UN veto power preventing the 'sanctions' part of BDS. The entire international community could be in agreement (and historically has been on certain issues) only to be overridden by a US veto, so americans voting for democrats at high levels who could actually be swayed is more important than ever (locally you can afford to be more picky about actual left policies over centrism if the options are available). That's not to say that protest out of the USA is moot, it shows solidarity and weapon blockades can be effective, but on a real power level: accountability for war crimes depends entirely on the political mood of the US of A.

tbh i think that the "is ai generated content art" argument is roughly the same as "is Duchamp's Fountain art". i think that the argument of if its art is what makes it art, because it is invoking some kind of feeling. starting a conversation. if that makes sense?

that being said, absolutely there is a time and a place for it (ie not replacing the work of paid artists). and it should only be trained on artsts who have consented to it.

i dont want to read fiction made by ai bc if you didn't take the time to write something, why should i take the time to read it? and for non fiction, it'll be riddled with incorrect facts because an algorithm "decided" that this word is the most likely to go next in the sentence based on what it's database says, even if its factually incorrect.

one of my favorite pieces of art is an ai image that was sent to a company that makes paint-by-numbers, and then filled out by a person. the artist, tumblr user rigatonidanza, asks "is this art? at what point does it become art? can it never be art because its ai, or because its paint by numbers? is it art because it elicits a response from the viewer?"

the point of art is to make you think, and to make you feel. does it stop being art if its not made by human hands, the way algorithmically generated images are? is it not art if its something mass produced, made for intentions other than what the artist uses it for, like Fountain? even if looking at it makes you feel something? anything? even if that "something" is a negative emotion?

all that said. if you use generative algorithms as an excuse to not pay real artists, you are a human tar pit. may you always immedeatly stub your toe after it stops hurting from the last time you stubbed it.

Even if Eight never returned to Intelligence work, he'd be fine. He originally joined the SIS to have a finger in every pot, but now I think he'd just use it for leverage to keep him (and Jadus) safe. Not that he'd ever let them know about that last part, which would guarantee both of them a fat target on their back.

I headcanon his final mission-- regardless of whether he took Nine's place on the Dominator-- is to go after Jadus if he escapes. An agent needs to keep an eye on that rogue Sith, and all their work is for naught without a final backup if Watcher 2's plan is considered too costly. He is the only one with the right mindset and strength of will to bear such a mission, and it's the only "out" he would willingly take. Keeper wouldn't approve, but he loses that bet 9 times out of 10. (I also seriously doubt a jail cell would hold Jadus for long, given the amount of secret allies he has in the Empire).

No matter the way you swing it, Eight has enough reasons to commit to Jadus as his life's mission. He's only partly there to make sure he doesn't pull another Doomsday, and if anything, he's more likely to redirect his purposeful anger towards one of their enemies rather than prevent it outright. His power is needed to him. But he doesn't even want to use Jadus solely for war. He's come to love the way he exists in the Force and his understanding of the Sith in his eyes, and he's willing to give his life if it means this wound, this extant form of death and life remains free to be. He hops mission to mission solely to show him the fires of conflict and the swells of peace in every part of the galaxy. He wants to show him the world outside of the Empire, that cage that used to trap both of them.

Jadus was and is his way of understanding and existing next to forces he never would've loved otherwise. Imperials as a whole have forgotten how to see Sith with their own eyes, buried under mandates of abuse and unquestioning worship, and even fewer feel knowing the Force to be a worthwhile undertaking as the burn of being rejected by it in life is a pill too bitter to swallow.

Eight considers himself lucky, to love and know the Force at its height in such a soul. Its embraced him too, and he never wants to be without it again.
