Ugly Laws. Creepy coming from the word cripple. Freak shows. Fear of clowns. Bearded ladies with PCOS & intersex variations. Contortionists with EDS. Little people. “Missing links” people with Microcephaly. “Snake man” people with limb differences. Lack of welfare programs. Disability rights. All of these things are connected.

I HAVE GOOD NEWS!!
i finally got my period after 8 months of not having it!! the funny thing is, the only thing that has changed in my diet is that i am having home made smoothies every morning.
which means i’ve been having more fruit.
which means that gynaecologist that told me to completely cut out fruit was wrong.

important reminder for people who menstruate:
if your cramps are so painful you can't do daily tasks, take care of yourself or get out of bed. if you pass out or vomit from cramps. if you can't walk or stand up properly from cramps. if you need to take pain medicine when you get cramps or else you will get sick, pass out, whatever.
seek medical help. people talk about how painful cramps are, and it's true, but there's a level of pain that simply isn't normal, and you need to get it checked

I am so tired of medical professionals. I am so tired of having to try to speak in code so they listen to me, because apparently just outright stating my symptoms is the incorrect way of doing things. I am so tired of trying to give them enough details so they understand, but not too many details, because then they might think I’m dramatic. I’m so tired of them not bothering to learn any of my history and just being told I just need to eat less, or drink more water, or get out and exercise. I’m so tired of having to pretend to not know what I’m talking about. I’m so tired of arrogant pricks who don’t know what’s going on being too proud to refer me fo someone else. I’m so tired of being brushed off if I did my own research or have theories about what’s happening in my own body. I’m so, so goddamn tired of not being believed about the experience of my own life.
For all these providers with enormous fucking power that you use to abuse, gaslight, and dismiss patients who have spent years in pain — I hope you rot.

September is PCOS Awareness month, and I'd like to point out some of the many symptoms people with PCOS deal with everyday...
moon face
excessive body hair, arm, chests, back, face, legs and buttocks
irregular periods
painful periods
extremely heavy periods
constant bloating
mood swings
struggle to lose weight
struggle to gain weight
food cravings
high cholesterol
insulin resistance
oily skin
acne
insomnia
fatigue
sleep apnea
depression
anxiety
tubular breasts
dark and sensitive underarms
skin tags
belly fat
high testosterone
excessive hair loss
thinning hair
pelvic pain
infertility
ovarian cysts
And so much more, as well as having to struggle to even find a doctor who will take any of our symptoms and pain seriously. The medical industry needs to take better care of women, intersex and trans folks with PCOS and Endometriosis.
Our pains are real and we deserve better.

Updated poll at the request of many! I’ve added PCOS specific options and removed the results button.
Please don’t vote if none of the options apply to you.
As before, if you are intersex and/or have PCOS and are a medical professional, please vote with the intersex or PCOS options.
If you aren’t sure your opinion please refrain from voting.

Something that absolutely makes me want to tear people to shreds with my teeth is thinking about how women's health is just not a priority in medicine.
1 in 10 women of childbearing age have PCOS.
Yet it's not considered important at all. It's hardly researched. Many women who suffer from this go undiagnosed for years. They are brushed off, ignored, not heard, or just put on birth control as if that's a cure-all. Even if someone with PCOS does get diagnosed the doctors don't even know everything there is to know about it.
Did you know that more than half of women with PCOS develop Type 2 Diabetes by the age of 40? Women with PCOS are often insulin resistant. Furthermore, many women with PCOS also have trouble with vitamin deficiencies, like vitamin D. And did you know that many women with PCOS also suffer from crippling fatigue?
Heart disease?
High blood pressure?
Again, one in ten women.
Can you imagine if one in ten men had PCOS? It would be the most well-researched condition on earth. Going to the doctor would mean that testing for PCOS is one of the first things they do. There would be awareness for PCOS. Treatments would be readily available and covered by health insurance. And so on.
But women are left to suffer because, why? The female body is just not considered important in medicine, yet it's the one people want to control the most. Almost half of the earth's population is female, yet our health is not a priority. If that doesn't make anyone want to go crazy, then I don't know what will.

By claiming those with PCOS need to fit a certain criteria to be 'valid' as intersex people, you are further enforcing the idea that sex is binary, just with a third option. Congratulations, you've fucked us over more lmao!

It is still so baffling how much of my life I struggled with, even and especially the little things, are explained by PCOS.
Super hairy? PCOS
Super sweaty like wayyy more than anyone you know? PCOS
Things that my trans friends only first experienced on T that I have known my whole life? PCOS babey
I'm a college student and I only JUST got diagnosed!! And it still hasn't fully sunk in that I am like this because of PCOS! I'm still in the mindset of being biologically cis and being somehow messed up because my whole life I've been so weird and off and "wrong" when I shouldn't be!! Like oh wow they finally figured it out but now I have so many years of pent up angst about my body that now I have to work through accepting it all over again in a new light because the old light I did partially accept it in was wrong, actually

Sometimes it feels like people kinda forget your pain when it’s chronic.
When someone healthy/able bodied gets sick or injured, people will pour out their support and understanding right away, which is good, obviously.
But after a while, people get tired of hearing about it.
They get tired of having to work around it, tired of having to be understanding.
But just because your empathy fades, doesn’t mean our pain and grief does.
I’m so, so tired of my pain. Of having to be understood. Of not having any chance to have a proper career, or dreams, or relationship.
I’m tired of my hands not working enough for me to write, draw and craft, which is what is normally keeping me going.
They just keep getting worse.
I’m tired of the pains related to my endometriosis and pcos making me unable to eat properly, get any exercise, and for making me bedridden more and more these days.
I’m tired of having to beg for support in what little buisniess I manage to make sure I survive during my rough recovery periods after surgeries and bad flare up’s.
I’m tired of knowing my life will not be a long one.
I’m tired of complaining, of being in pain, of grieving, of feeling like a burden.
There are no breaks for me.
That doesn’t mean I get used to it. I will never be used to it.
And I think I should be allowed to talk about all of this without feeling like a burden.
I probably won’t ever get to that point, but this is me trying to get there.
By being open and honest, and hoping that at least one person takes the time to read.
If you’re still here, still reading, thank you. It means the world.
Be kind to those around you who are like me.
We’re not happy about our situations, either, but having people willing to stick around and listen makes it a little easier to survive.
Thank you ❤️‍🩹
