Made some sprite sheets for Confection Castle!

Made some tweaks to the designs for some characters or completely redesigned some (For example, Uncle Candiesworth is now a cough drop, Gumther is now jello, and Granny was redesigned to look the part of a CEO's assistant). Some characters are completely original that you might be seeing for the first time here, and maybe I will expand more on their purpose in the AU later. Gonna make a part 2 for more sprites soon when I can!

And yes it's still canon that Teddy is transmasc.

Over the next half hour or so, Fang and Archie help Izzy guzzle down two entire pitchers of water, crunch through several squares of ship's biscuit and, for some reason, chew and spit a handful of mint. Izzy doesn't question it, doesn't wonder out loud if it's for his breath or for some other esoteric reason he doesn't know.

This time the pungent, vinegary miasma is a welcome aroma. It can't fully compete with the smell and taste of her own flesh and blood and sinew, but it can certainly try. Eddie dangles herself closer to it, breathing it in like smelling salts. The fumes burn in her nose, make her gag and drool sticky biliary strings of spit. Slowly, she sinks low enough to the ground that the longest of her split ends make little peaks in the viscous surface tension of the yellowish, globby plash.

FLUFFY FACTS TAG GAME

I do so enjoy my angst and horrible backstories and epic fight scenes, but y’unno what’s so much better because of all that? The little bits of fluff and pure wholesomeness scattered throughout Anchored Souls. Here’s some fluffy fun facts about my series! (Minor spoilers included. ^^)

RULES: List 5 or more cute or wholesome facts about your WIP, either events that happen or worldbuilding details or the like! Then tag some people you’d like to see do the tag game, too!

Dione, being an immortal humanoid that’s cursed herself to not need to eat, drink, or sleep, is so horribly thin and unhealthily skeletal at the beginning of the series. Kinda a spoiler, but this curse is (unintentionally) lifted in book two, and with Phoenix as the chef dictating her meals and a whole crew to now care for her, she slowly but surely gains weight and reaches a far healthier condition by book three.

Gertrude the Ghost Chicken is a hen that the main characters find alone and trapped in her cage aboard a ghost ship who’s crew had been lured off by sirens. Phoenix, completely against Captain Xuân’s wishes, immediately adopts this chicken and Gertrude and her become a fearsome, inseparable pair. This spells disaster for Xuân, as this hen holds a grudge against them and is very interested in making their life a living nightmare.

Baby to child sirens are called finlings, and upon reaching their first century in age (about the equivalent of ten years old for a human), they get to choose their true or full name. This is often done with the help of family and friends, and is an occasion to be celebrated with special treats and a visit to one of many sacred locations around the world to officiate it! Before a finling gets their true name, they’re referred to with finling names, which are usually like little informal and cutesy nicknames based on their appearance or personality~

Celestine has been on their own for... a long time, by the start of the first book. It takes a while for them to believe that Phoenix isn’t just trying to get something from them, and even longer for them to actually trust her. As Celestine feels more comfortable and safe around her, you’ll see them physically gravitate towards her a lot more. Their natural instinct when nervous becomes hiding behind her, and at the end of book one, it’s revealed their favourite resting spot is in Phoenix’s lap, no matter how uncomfortable it looks.

Surge and Mist sirens, despite being renowned for their bickering, are actually incredibly familial in nature and will often be found pack-bonding with just about anything. Surge sirens sometimes include actual sharks in their shivers (groups), and Surge and Mist sirens are sometimes found working and travelling together. The best part is that they are absolutely completely against letting orphaned sirens be without families, so adoption is just. Immediate.

hey guys i’m peepo (20+, he/they), really excited to be here! i’ll be introducing lee haksu, local country boy making his big seoul debut. he’s a year one bio major, 24 years old, and here as a stepping stone towards veterinary school (but also ended up taking a bunch of ceramics classes for self care). currently lives in the blue house, room 103. i’ll give a rundown under the cut - and feel free to drop a like on this post if you’d like me to suddenly appear in your mirror at the dead of night i mean... send u an im for plots!

a brief summary of this guy’s life (tw illness)

born & raised in a rural town outside of mokpo, south korea (but he usually just says he’s from mokpo because it’s easier)

he lives on a really small family-owned farm in the countryside. they sell produce to the people living in the surrounding area

the farmland is owned by his mother’s side, and then his father marries in from a slightly higher-class family. they have a kid (it’s haksu!), and then dad leaves home to pursue a better job opportunity… but ends up not really coming back, ever

so as he grows up he learns how to handle things at the farm from his grandparents and mom. dad comes to visit every blue moon, and sends them money sometimes

after he graduates high school he goes to do his military service and then comes back to the news that his mom has gotten really sick and his dad still isn’t able to come home, so he puts a pause on his future plans to stay home, take care of her, take care of the farm, and… pretty much do everything to keep them afloat while using all the money his father sends to fund medical expenses

it’s a very harrowing few years for him but they make it through it and his mom’s health improves a lot

now he has the time to pick up where he left off - which is to finally go chase his juvenile dream of becoming a veterinarian (starting with biology at hansung) + living in seoul

now with backstory out of the way - who is haksu anyway??

he is the guy in the back who tries to sneakily peel oranges and eat them during class but fails because he makes the whole room smell like oranges

he has a Lot of trouble speaking to people.. he’ll d-word at least seven times during a normal conversation with someone and look like a tomato at the end of it. basically all his skill points went towards cooking, fixing things, and general Life Stuff. none of it went towards social skills

he speaks in jeolla dialect like ↗↘↗↘↘↗↗↗ and has kind of a stutter (sorry to all non-native korean speaking muses)

his clothing style is Hand Me Downs & the free shirts you get from being a member of green sleeves (which is to say he has no sense of style, and is also poor)

he is a giant animal lover, they had chickens at the farm and he thinks about them a lot. he will hold bugs btw!! so he Will take that cockroach/spider outside for you

he’s currently living in the blue house #103 (mostly for the cats) 

as a student he tries really really hard! he was never super academically gifted but he’s passionate about learning bio since he’s trying to speedrun his way into becoming a veterinarian and making money

he’s also a member of the green sleeves + probably the least important member of the soccer team

he lost his way on campus early in the year and ended up infiltrating a ceramics class and he was like …. it’s going to be ok… i will wait for a good moment to leave when no one will notice… (then he accidentally stays for the entire class, and it was kind of fun actually)

and that was the birth of his minor!!

he makes bowls and stuff and is really meticulous about it, but once he gets to the painting phase things get really tricky for him bc he doesn’t have a good eye for colors and designs

Yoosung

We all know that Yoosung would circulate a batch of relatable LOLOL memes. He has an entire folder on his desktop dedicated to obscure memes that only a dedicated LOLOL player would understand. He will occasionally edit photos to make his own meme and share it with his guild, but he won’t post it anywhere else.

He also enjoys memes that quickly get annoying, like [Blank] but every time [Blank] happens it gets faster. Even though they’re repetitious, he enjoys each and every one.

Some particular videos that he likes includes “Let it Grow but it’s Awkward” and “You’re welcome but I Want to Die”.

Zen

He constantly updates his social media with different memes of the ‘Me when-’ variety. Anything from ‘Me When Someone Already Took the Lat Pull Down’ to ‘Me When the Mirror is Fogged Up After a Shower’. Most of them aren’t really funny, but they’re relatable- and that’s what matters.

He also likes to do random Instagram/Youtube challenges that he finds interesting. He wouldn’t admit it- but he once did the Don’t Judge Me Challenge.

Particular videos he likes for no real reason include any “Deja Vu/Gas Gas Gas” compilation and “When Will You Learn That Your Actions Have Consequences”.

Jaehee

She finds joy in using simple images to convey emotion or as a response. She loves reaction memes, especially ones that are strangely intricate. She will often gossip/complain about Jumin over text with continuous reaction images.

Another meme that she strangely likes is anything relating to Shooting Star. She likes how creative people can be with the soundtrack and effects.

Particular videos she really likes for no real reason include Vine Comps of “Gavin & Katie Ryan” and “Jesus Christ That’s Jason Bourne”.

Saeyoung

The meme boy himself finds a lot of joy in repeatedly using NSFW memes. His favorite include using porn gifs as mundane reactions. He sent a particular one to Yoosung the first time he heard Yoosung refer to him as a ‘friend’. 

Often, he will be seen/heard making both self-deprecating and very dank memes out in the open. Sometimes this is worrying.

His favorite videos include “We Are Number One [DANK EDITION]” and anything relating to “Wake Me Up”.

Jumin

Old- stale- facebookish memes. Whenever he clearly annoys Zen in chats, he will send pictures of trollface and everyone will grimace. He is also the person who would have Minion text posts (you know what I am talking about).

For no reason that he can understand, any meme relating to 4:20 brings a chuckle out of him, no matter how much he tries to quell it.

Particular videos he enjoys (mostly since he thinks kids are incredibly adorable) include “Look At All of Those Chickens” and “Have You Ever Had A Dream-...”.

V

He likes really positive memes. Often, he can be found editing pictures of other RFA members or his favorite inspirational folks with flower crowns. Also- pastels~

He also, strangely enough, likes rather cringey memes. It tingles his funny bone to see the reactions of others when he makes dad jokes, dabs, or even says terms like ‘swag’ or ‘yolo’.

Particular videos he enjoys include “Gabe the Dog” remixes and “Kazoo Kid”.

Saeran

He really enjoys offensive memes. He will go out of his way to figure out what bugs you and either find a meme or make one to send to you. (Of course, if he cares about you and you request it, he will stop).

Also, he has a deep affinity for RIP headphone user memes and often will trick others into watching those kinds of videos.

Particular videos he enjoys but will not admit to liking include anything relating to “Spooky Scary Skeletons” and “Magic School Bus” memes.

Notable Moments

Jaehee and Jumin often find vines or memes of kids to be both intensely humorous as well as adorable. Because of this, they share particular memes- even during work hours. 

When Yoosung first referred to Seven as a friend, Seven responded by sending this meme. 

Once, when Zen questioned the validity of Jumin’s friendship, Jumin responded by sending this, and Zen has never fully recovered. 

V was horrified when he saw the Kazoo Kid Trap Remix and actually considered flagging the video. 

Saeran once sent Yoosung this video (WARNING- VERY LOUD AUDIO) as a prank, saying that it was ‘fucking hilarious but really quiet’. Yoosung no longer opens links that Saeran sends him. He also had to invest in new headphones. 

No matter how depressed Seven gets, if you murmur ‘Das a Peepo’, he will instantly bawl with laughter. 

If you follow this up with ‘There’s peas in there’, he will start crying from laughter, guaranteed.
