[Perceived and depicted]

An attempt to depict the perceived, living only in imagination, breathing trough drawing, shaped in a digital flesh. Lots of errors which were never a lie. The struggle of an idea.

Some time ago I drew an experimental illustration combining both realism and stylization - ("The world you imagine"), and this time I decided to go further and combine stylization with a realistic 3D model. Oddly enough, it's also a vent full of cry, and the inspiration was my desperate struggle with drawing realistic anatomy and proportions.

There are many Koties (my fictional fantasy felines), and they are intentionally depicted as different and stylized, with slightly distorted proportions and shapes, looking like ghosts surrounding the realistic central figure.

This illustration means a reflection on my long journey of learning and drawing these characters, and some of the stylized ones reflect the specific distortions of some of my older stylizations and anatomy errors, while others reflect a more improved perception. But basically, all of them are the ghosts of the same kind. The 3D model is the most realistic form of depiction, embodying what I could never achieve in drawing. It made more sense for me to learn to create 3D models instead of trying to draw realistic beings properly. And now, I often use my 3D models as references.

Tutorial on drawing characters/OCs who have some sort of facial paralysis. It doesn't cover all possible variants because I was using mirror as my main reference lawl

Keep in mind that this is an introductory drawing tutorial and has some generalizations in it, so not every “X is Z” statement will be true for Actual People 👍

3D model of an Arctic Shufaet, my fictional species ~

Made in Blender.

Their idea is old and they (as well as other related species), appeared in some of my older art, but I haven't worked with their lore and design much. At some point they became so insignificant that even just their existence in canon was questionable.

But some time ago one of them appeared in my newest story as one of the main characters, so I tried to make a model for this species, while trying to figure out who they are and how to depict them. I usually perceive them as some "alternative wolves" from my world, but in fact they are some their very own thing.

They are quite huge solitary predators from distant northern lands, still quite mysterious though and not really willing to reveal their secrets (they are known as unfriendly loners, so this is natural)

They are also drawn to crystals - in one of my previous posts I hinted that a Kotie should be careful when wandering through the crystal cave, as there are some other creatures who are attracted to such places. And so, I can finally show you who these creatures are :)
