PhD internship abroad. Feeling alone and working like crazy to not think about how I miss everyone at home.

I have been waiting for a super important email from my director for a whole week now and still no sign of him. This shit is stressing me out because I really need the information he said he would get for me.

If he didn’t want to deal with this, he should have told me so I could have taken care of it but now, I am just stuck waiting and not daring to do it myself behind his back in a way.

I really fear he has just fucked off in holidays and forgot abt me.

I'm considering making a post-doc to continue working with my thesis data to expand critical thinking and give back to society something good. I have so many ideas, and I love what I research; it gives me joy! But oh, boy! Is post-doc the only way? I'm beginning to think that I'm not good enough for any other stuff outside academia. Besides, I'm not sure if academia is my place. I'm going through some major crisis, I guess, haha sh*t!

Sometimes I want to run to a forest and quietly live with my partner. The more time passes, the more I feel like I get easily overwhelmed. It would be so easy if we all came with a manual of some sort, right? Ok, ok… I complain a lot, I know!

I know I'm complaining while I accomplished a lot. It's just that life keeps confusing, and It doesn't matter if you are 17 or 71 years old; the only thing that changes are the challenges per se. It's almost like a game; if you are at lvl 6, you're not strong enough to do quests lvl 35 minimum. Although, even if you work on getting strong for some quests, there're always some simple skills for beginner that you may forget to acquire and then cannot understand why you cannot proceed with your game.

I feel like I don't have a bunch of skills yet =/

Un truc qui me fume, c’est qu’on est obligé de faire un certain nombre d’heures de formations doctorales pour être autorisés à soutenir notre thèse et que quand on veut s’inscrire à une formation, on nous demande de justifier pourquoi.
