“alt text for more info” “turn on cations for more info” no actually this is not where more info goes. These have a very distinct purpose. There are plenty of other places for more info. If you’re going to make your post inaccessible, the least you could do is not use accessibility tools at your own leisure for whatever purpose you see fit.

Chronic Illness is Exhausting, But Add in a Bug or Two
Chronic Illness is Exhausting, But Add in a Bug or Two
No matter what illness you have, it takes more out of you than the average person. Despite what the doctors say, there is some impairment to the immune system cuz you are always trying to deal with whatever disease or condition you have. When that illness includes chronic pain, it takes you right out. This is something most people, even those who deal with someone in this position or who have an…

i think people underestimate the power of sitting. sitting down has saved my life. i sit in the shower, i sit to cook, i sit to get dressed, i sit and now i can do those things more and enjoy doing them now because i’m not in unbearable pain from standing!

Non-ADHD and non-autistic disabled people whose only idea of ADHD and autistic people is shaped by media depictions of a nerdy white boy or a quirky goth girl with low support needs: "Yeah ADHD and autism are destigmatized and we should ignore people with ADHD and autism in favor of real disabilities. I am very smart and progressive."
Lateral prejudice towards other disabled people will get us nowhere.

I did EIGHT (8) times walking upstairs with braces!!!
Upstairs my walk route is from bed to toilet, with bedroom and bathroom doors open to make a path. It goes: touch bed, high five Dad, walk, wave hello to toilet, turn and walk back, cycle start over. It is slightly shorter distance than downstairs, but more slight turns and obstacles so more effort for balance and coordination.
It is a hard day today with very anxious and brain overfull and loud and mean and body "glitchy" and slow. (More of that "slowness" and "get stuck" happen more recently, gradual increase... different post about that later because this one post is positive.)
So with that I am extra proud that I manage this. And to cope with braces tiny better as well!
I am so hopeful to gain more and more mobility.

im making a new bathroom knocking poll since some of you are so fucking complicated (& i wanted a longer duration)
one experience is not universal (for example red/green indicators on the door are Not common where i live) so i am giving you a specific scenario.
you are faced with a public restroom that looks like this:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
it is one room. you open the door and it has the toilet and sink in a single room directly from the hall/whatever public area you're in.
the door handle looks like this:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
there is no outward indication if the door is locked or not (no red/green or in use/available sign connected to the lock mechanism)
the door is completely shut when you arrive (not partially open, like in the images) and there are no gaps underneath the door to see if a light is on.
(if you have social anxiety (or are just scared of public restrooms in general) and your answer depends on that, do Not pick the last option that's not for u, just say yes/no or don't vote. i feel like that should b self-explanatory)

It feels like every day I read attempts to debunk the social model of disability that fundamentally misunderstand what the social model of disability is and who the people who developed that model were, including what the nature of their disabilities was, and I want to scream.
But I don't, because yelling at people on the internet is basically pointless. Instead I check to see that I'm not mutuals with whoever reblogged said misunderstanding and vague about it.
#'but [x impairment] would still exist and have [y implications] even if the world were completely accessible!'#okay well yeah but equating impairment and disability is explicitly the opposite of the social model of disability#the union of the *physically impaired* against segregation who developed this model#*were* by and large privileged in ways many other disabled people are not‚ yes#mike oliver who wrote the fucking book on the social model of disability#(social work with disabled people‚ published in 1983)#was a white man with a phd who pioneered an academic field‚ for one#and there *are* criticisms about the limitations to a purely social model of disability to be made#but like... our pal mike oliver was also a wheelchair user who broke his neck in a swimming accident as a teenager#which caused paralysis that affected his upper and lower body#not a clueless 'physically abled' autistic who didn't understand how physical limitations work#he lived the first 17 years of his life as a physically abled person#so I think he was aware of the difference between what his body could do before and after his accident#and like 'disability is socially constructed'#is not saying that differences between people and what they are able to do or do easily do not exist??#my eyesight is so bad that if I could not access corrective lenses I would be functionally blind#and even with glasses my myopia and astigmatism cause a lot of tangible effects on my body#e.g. migraines‚ eyestrain‚ so many floaters that even looking through pristine glasses is like the lenses are scratched to hell#but my eyesight is not considered a disability#because the accommodations that enable me to participate in society fully in this area are so standard as to be invisible#can I magically see without corrective lenses? no#does wearing glasses not being considered a disability mean that I do not get migraines and eyestrain? no#so the arguments the thing I am vaguing are trying to debunk are not what is being argued!#well seems like I screamed about it after all#oh well

I'm visually impaired and cannot drive a car. Not even with the most intense glasses could I drive. I'm not legally blind, but because of my severely impaired vision, I cannot drive and legally cannot still .
I use a mobility scooter to travel. The closest store to me is 45 minutes away if I walked as a seeing person, which I cannot. I can navigate side walks and crossing signs on my scooter because they have different textures in the road and auditory crossing signal sounds too. And people get mad whenever I get out of the scooter. As if I'm pretending to not be able to walk ...and the reason im using a scooter has NOTHING to do with that.
Not everyone you see using a mobility aid is using it for the reason you're expecting. And we're still allowed to exist without harassment.

I follow tons of disability/chronic illness/mental health tags and I keep seeing memes or infographics without alt text or image IDs. This is not okay for content of any subject matter, but its beyond ridiculous for these spaces in particular. You can’t call yourself an advocate if you are declining to use accessibility tools like this. There are absolutely no excuses, especially with the technologies we have now. Most devices can read and copy the text out of any image, for example.
Basically if it’s not worth including everyone, it’s not worth posting. Make it accessible or don’t post it. Thank you

[ID: ten pieces of digital owl house fanart.
The 1st image is a finished illustration of Amity and Willow in clouds on the horizon, in fighting poses welding their magic against a dark purple background.
The 2nd image is a doodle of Luz from hollow mind with an exaggerated and distraught face looking at the viewer against the purple background. She's labeled "has witnessed the horrors" a small scribble of hunter can be seen in the background.
The 3rd image is a limited green, yellow, orange and blue colour palette drawing of willow in her flyer derby uniform.
The 4th image is a doodle of Luz and Hunter in a Labyrinth (1986) au. Hunter wears an outfit similar to his one in eclipse lake and looks at Luz grumpily. Luz wears Eda's jacket over an azura dress and looks back at hunter. Each has a thought bubble- hunters says "ruining his chances of getting his uncle back" and Luz's says "brother napper".
The 5th and 6th images are a set of limited colour palette drawings of Willow and Hunter. Both are from the bust up, willow's palette is green and hunters is blue.
The 7th image is a doodle of Caleb and Evelyn labeled "ye olde bisexuals".
The 8th image is an all green doodle of willow in her Halloween costume on a transparent background. The 9th image is of possessed hunter on a black background.
The 10th and final image is a young Luz being held by Camilla as she cries. The palette is all purple and yellow and the lyrics "one of these days I'm gonna move far away..." Are written and partially cut off in the background. End ID]
All the art from last year (dad joke) that I liked but never posted! I'm not gonna write a huge dedication because this post is long enough (that's what the tags are for). Instead I will simply say that now my conscience is cleared of all the requests I did but never posted (third image is a request for @hotwizardstuff and 10th is for @loverboybrightsideghost), I am finally free to be as silly as I want in the new year!!! 🎉🪩
#the owl house#toh#hunter toh#luz noceda#willow park#caleb wittebane#evelyn clawthorne#amity blight#camilla noceda#TOO MANY GOD-DAMNED CHARACTERS#oh my god never let me make a doodle dump post again. so long and for what!!#long post#i feel like the last doodle dump post i made yonks ago was a lot prettier 😭 I wasn't experimenting as much w/ colour back then#I've honestly been pretty touch and go with posting art this year? owl house got me back into it but even then I've made less art this year#than i think in previous years#mainly cause whatevers going on with me (i am back on medication for my blood baby!!) has kinda impaired that#but even beyond physically making less art I've been posting less of it#on the one hand it's very freeing to not care so much about what people think of me and my art!#i really enjoy being able to keep things for myself. it takes the pressure off and makes me happier i think#on the other hand i miss the engagement with other fans that i get from posting art frequently#i think the only reason I developed a small presence in my own corner of the last fandom I was in (besides a couple good meta posts)#was the fact that i posted a LOT of art at a semi frequent pace#compared to toh where i just. haven't been able to lol#there's also the fact that the last fandom i was in spanned beginning of GCSE and lockdown to middle of A Level#which was overall a much less taxing time school wise than now where I'm in my final year of highschool#it's nothing that really bothers me but it's interesting to muse on the way fans respond to different types of creators#who have very different outputs#i definitely think i wanna hone my skills a little more this year (maybe come up with some reasonable goals to achieve?)#and try and set up commissions over summer for a bit of extra cash and just for fun! to say I've done it#I'm out of tags so I'll just end by saying the most important thing: happy jules holland hootinany to all who celebrate <3

"Weaponize your mobility aid"
First of all: why am I responsible for keeping people from murdering me?! Second of all, what land are you living in where you can bring open weapons in schools and stores and literally any public place?! And third of all, considering I'm DISABLED all that's going to do is hurt ME.
I swear the second a physically disabled person can't weaponize their stuff for whatever reason, can't sow patches or make their own clothes because of disabilities, have to use brightly colored things for safety or to be able to see it, or is really anyone other than a mostly able-bodied person who just needs a cane to walk around half the cripple punk community wants to crucify them. Stop getting mad at me for not engaging in the physically disabled community, when your rules to join are impossible because of my physical disabilities.

I want a werewolf story but the person wears glasses and still needs them when transformed but their face changes shape so drastically there's literally nothing they can do short of buying another pair of glasses, taking the lenses out, and trying to jury-rig a set of goggles that will A)fit them correctly in their transformed state B)not fall off C)actually let them see D)not get destroyed when they transform back
And that's not even getting into the fact that their normal glasses probably wouldn't even work because their eyes have changed structure and would probably need whole new lenses.
if they can't figure out how to do this or just straight up don't have the money to buy an extra pair of glasses they're just. fucking incapable of doing jack shit while transformed because they can't see anything clearly even if it's pressed against the end of their new muzzle.
This would get even worse if being transformed affects what colors they can see in any way, because now not only can't they see things, they can't even rely on memory to recognize things until they get used to the new gradient of grey to yellow to blue.
No magic exists that fixes this. No it does not magically get fixed after they transform enough times or any other magical related stuff.
They either have to get werewolf-accessible glasses or goggles, or not be able to see. Those are the only two options. And no, sense of smell and hearing do not somehow magically compensate for their inability to see. That's not how this works.
Anyways yes I did combine my visually impaired flags and the all-inclusive werewolf flag.
Here you go:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
[ID: Three flags.
The first has nine horizontal stripes, combining the visually impaired flag, and a werewolf flag. The stripes are, in order from top to bottom: Light purple, dark purple, black, grey-blue, white, grey-purple, black, light brown, and dark brown.
The second flag is the all-inclusive werewolf flag, with stripes of light purple, dark purple, light brown, and dark brown.
The last flag is the visually impaired flag, with stripes of black, grey-blue, white, grey-purple, and black.
End ID.]
