🧚‍♂️THE UNEXPECTED REBIRTH🧚‍♂️ This weekend has been divine. A spur of the moment trip to Pistyll Rhaeadr in North Wales, I met a bunch of lovely people and had some in-depth conversations about Spirituality and ancestry. I had tea at the gate to the Otherworld by the waters of the goddess Rhea. V and Gustine and I managed to find each other despite the crowds of people and a non-existent mobile connection and we had a picnic lunch overlooking the stunning valley. I know when a few days have passed and I have integrated the experience more insights will come through. I have been proud of my body for the hike, given I’m only a month post-virus and still feeling it. Today I was ready to head down to visit the Severn on my doorstep but a heavy hand of fatigue prevented me. I had to lie back down once the laundry and washing up were done and bag packed to go out! The persistent message as I rested without sleeping was “you must be reborn from the river”. Whether that is an elegant way of saying “REST” or something more transformational only time will tell. So Sunday has been a day both of rest and the potential of rebirth 🐣 which seems appropriate! As we rest tonight, may we shed all things that prevent us from realising the simplicity of a life filled with joy, gratitude and pleasure in the little things, and the immense. A wonderful day walking/hiking at Pistyll Rhaeadr in Wales. An absolutely incredible place and somewhere that should be on everyone’s “must visit” list. Even the top of the falls is worth the walk up and there is a hike that includes the falls whilst taking in Cadair Berwyn. Perfect!

So, was it worth the effort and early rise?

Well for me, I have to say no. The sun illuminated the subject as planned, and had the warmth that was anticipated and expected. However, due to the sun rising behind me and front lighting the subject, this resulted in a rather flat image, with little texture, and some of the images even appear slightly 'bleached'. Unfortunately, due to the shape of the valley, with its steep sides, it's impossible to have the preferred side lighting with the warmth of golden hour light, and particularly at that time of the year, when the leaves are showing their autumn colours.

The images is still quite nice, but I am my own worst critic, and it doesn't meet my requirements. All was not lost however, as some other shots from the morning produced some pleasing results.

 .

 So, will I be returning to this location at sunrise next Autumn??? -  Absolutely!

The main image may not have turned out as hoped, but I feel giving the correct weather conditions, perhaps dappled golden hour light, or even the glow of pre-sunrise light, on high cirrus, cirrocumulus or cirrostratus clouds, reflecting and illuminating the autumn foliage, the ingredients are there to produce a stunning image of a magnificent location.
