Happy birthday to the number one princess in the world!! 💖
~from her biggest fans :)
ramble of my scattered thoughts on the piece under cut as usual cuz i love talking 😋
This has been an idea I've been cookin for a while, and it was so cluttered and unlike any other ensemble piece I've made... and I decided I oughta do it anyway. I love Miku, I love Vocaloid, and I wanted to do something really ambitious and crazy for her anniversary. Crazy that she's turning her "canon" age this year TwT
I had the idea floating around since like, May...? And then finally started acting on it around June 18. I'm terrible with deadlines, obvious with how I can never make a silly birthday post in time, so I started wayyyy ahead to make sure I have some room to be lazy lol, especially with an idea as ambitious as this.
This was finished on July 12! So I had to sit on this for an annoying amount of time. Very difficult for someone like me who just wants to talk about everything I'm working on to the masses. But at the very least, that gave me the time to work on the draft for this post.
~~~
Here's some ~behind the scenes~ scribbles leading up to the finished piece!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Left is the chicken scratch plan i made in my handy dandy notebook (whenever things are getting real and ambitious, i always made a rough ROUGH plan in there. Usually I'd do a rough pass of the full thing, but this was too complicated for me to do traditionally. I majorly benefited from digital tools to make this possible). CyberDiva and CyberSongman were considered, but I ended up cutting them cuz I just didn't feel like drawing them sorry-- (just pretend they're off to the side. They gave Ruby and Clara the pizza lol). Right is the "final" completed sketch (before I decided to include Chika mid-way through coloring and VY1 and VY2 near the finish line). I started by drawing the main "groups" separated on a different canvas so I can plop them into the main canvas for easy rearranging and transforming. However I got lazy and ended up drawing everyone in the bottom right corner directly on the canvas since I liked seeing the big picture of everyone's positions. Y'know.
Almost excluded Chika! But I like her design so much that I just felt like including her last-minute. You win this time, Chika fans. VY1 and VY2 were very close to being cut! I added them when I began doing the banner and thought "eh why not". I figured their non-human designs would be pretty easy to include pushed back in the bg. Ik VY1 is more commonly associated with the fan design, but I referenced the hairpin cuz it was simpler and the fan looked very annoying to draw 😭
Sorry to the fans of many Vocaloids I had to cut because this composition was insane enough as is. I promise I wanted to include fellas like CUL, LUMi and Sachiko 😭 I will admit I was a little biased on who I wanted to include over others. Like, I don't normally care for Bruno and Clara, but I wanted to get some more international 'loids in the mix. Also wanted to stick in the realm of official designs and not fan-designs since, as much as I can appreciate those, are just a whole "wait who is that guy supposed to be" situation I didn't wanna deal with. I also did wanna include even more character references through the balloons, but they ended up being kind of ugly and overcomplicated the BG :,) (Oh, and while this was originally planned to be a Vocaloid-only piece, I did end up including Teto, Neru, and Haku 'cuz those are Miku's besties dude!!! They may not be Officially in the club but they're her girls and it would be criminal to not invite them to her birthday).
Anyway, this project marks the first time I've drawn a lot of Vocaloids. Lily, Piko, Rana, Yuki, Yukari, Miki, Maika, and many more lol. All of 'em I've heard or seen in passing, but now I actually drew them, and some have really cool and fun designs!! I got into a habit of drawing Merli after this since I just love her design for example. And I'll probably be drawing more lol!!
Oh and the last thing I'll add for now!! The cake is indeed made up of various song references!! I wanted to reference the "big four" producers, just absolute icons in Vocaloid history. The pink/black checkerboard is "World is Mine" (Ryo), the crescents on the side is "Rolling Girl" (Wowaka), the smiley faces is "Matryoshka" (Hachi), and the three hearts on the side is "The Vampire" (DECO*27, which is sort of a symbol of his whole Mannequin album tbh). I know "The Vampire" is a bit modern but I couldn't think of anything else off the top of my head. I'm a fake DECO fan I know 😔 "Matryoshka" was originally going to be referenced in the colors of the candles but believe me it looked like shit so I just went for something else last minute 😭
That's all I have to say!!! Hope you didn't mind the text wall if you made it here. I hope you like it as much as I do!!!! Happy freakin' birthday Miku!!!!
I have to deal with tagging all these characters now for my page,,, in the drafts my tags got cut off after a certain point so I think I'm massively breaching the tag limit 😭 um... I'll figure that out later...
not losing sleep that i can't tag everyone, even for page organization purposes because some characters have pretty generic names and some are a little hard to see in full yknow. If you're one of those people who tag every character in the art piece you reblog... I am very sorry.
Dinner Date
For STWG daily drabble and, more importantly, for Goldie @steventhusiast. Happy Birthday, you deserve the world. I know you’re asleep right now, but it’s technically still your bday here.
“Dingus, this is a really fancy restaurant.” Robin leans back in her chair, but her hand plays with the fork on her napkin.
Steve sips his wine; some of it tips over the edge onto the tablecloth. “What? Can’t a guy take his best friend out to a fancy dinner?” He tilts his head and takes in his best friend. What was once an awkward teen now had a beautiful, but still awkward, woman in her place.
“Steve, I love our friend dates, but usually they take place in a greasy diner or dollar pizza.” Robin picks the fork up and starts twirling it into her napkin. Steve watches her get mesmerized by the wrinkles that wrapped around the silverware, even though they both know the napkin should be in her lap by now.
Steve smiles softly, moves his napkin from his lap to the table, and begins to mimic Robin. “Okay, maybe I wanted it to be a special occasion.”
Robin giggles at Steve's poor fork-twirling form and leans over the table to fix it for him. “All occasions are special when we are together, so that doesn’t really mean much.” Robin’s nose scrunches in concentration as she gently guides Steve’s hand. She has done this plenty of times before, guiding Steve where he needed to be. Like taking him to the bookstore near her college so he wouldn’t have to go into sex with Eddie blind, or when she taught him how to whisk eggs properly. Both are equally important skills he now uses in his everyday life. “But you seemed nervous. You keep sipping your wine, and I know for a fact that you hate dry wine.”
Steve puts down the glass that was halfway to his mouth, “It’s not my fault Moscato tastes like candy!”
Robin snorts, “Seriously, Dingus. It’s just me. What’s up?”
Steve puts down the fork and his glass and looks Robin in the eye. “I wanted to ask you to be my best man.”
Steve expects a lot of reactions out of her: excitement, an eye roll, hell, even straight-up rejection. Maybe a little speech about how weddings for them aren’t even legal. Instead, a look of betrayal crosses her face. “You asked Eddie to marry you, and you didn’t even tell me you were proposing?”
Immediately, Steve clenches his stomach in outrageous laughter, nearly having to bend over the table. Steve tries to take Robin seriously; he really does. But she is supposed to be the smart one out of the two of them.
Rage takes over Robin completely as she reaches over the table to start slapping Steve’s arm. “Don’t laugh, you asshat! I am actually mad at you!”
“Ow—” Steve laughs. “Ow, Robin!” Another giggle escapes him as he gets her to sit back in her chair. “I’m laughing because, of course, I didn’t propose to Eddie without talking to you first.”
Robin settles a bit at this, “I’m confused.”
Steve reaches for her hand across the table; Robin doesn’t hesitate to wrap her fingers around his. “I’m asking you to be my Best Man first, doofus. Before I even pick out the damn ring. Which I definitely need you to steal one of Eddie’s rings for me so I can get the size; man watches those things like a hawk.”
Robin squeezes his hand, “Wait, why would you ask me that first? Isn’t that kind of backwards.”
“I do everything kind of backwards, babe. Kinda the Steve Harrington special.” Steve rubs a thumb against the back of soulmate's hand. “Of course, I ask you about being my best man first. There would be no wedding without you, so if you say no, there would be no proposing.”
Steve could see tears beginning to fill Robin’s eyes, “What are you saying?”
“Whoever gets stuck with me gets stuck with you. We’re a package deal, babe.”
Robin throws herself across the table, knocking the wine everywhere. Steve laughs and clenches her tightly. “Of course, I’ll be your best man! Someone’s gotta make sure you don’t hurt yourself going down the aisle.” She sobs.
Steve’s throat gets thick, “Pretty sure that’s the father's job, Robs. And you’d have to fight Jim for that role.”
“Fine.” Robin sniffs, leaning back to look him in the eye. “But I get stand by your side as you make a complete fool of yourself with your vows.”
“Deal.”
Robin leans forward, placing her forehead against Steve’s. “You and me against the world, babe.”
Steve hugs her tight, “You and me against the world.”
[New Jeans x Oldest Member! Reader] - #2
- imagine.
Tumblr media
Summary: You’re the oldest member in NJ. That means alot of adoration coming from your younger members. (These are just a bunch of short moments with NJ and oldest member)
A/N: Hey I’m back with another one lol. Sorry for the long wait! This one’s (I think) a bit shorter, but hey who cares. It’s mainly fluff but I decided to write angst in the end so beware of that! Love y’all
Warnings: overworking, physical abuse, breakdowns, etc. Don’t get scared it’s like 3/4 fluff
#1
"Hey unnie are you-"
Haerin opened your door for the tenth time this week, and just like the other times, you weren't in your room. The girl let out a frustrated groan.
Recently, you've been hanging out at Nmixx's dorms alot.
It started when you became close friends with Haewon (having been the same age) at a festival. Thanks to Haewon, you became close with Lily, and soon you had the 4 other members surrounding you with the same adoring eyes you always see on your members.
It was cute to be honest.
But wanna know who didn't find them cute?
Every single person at your house.
"WHY IS SHE NOT HOME AGAIN-"
"Okay, Hanni calm do-"
"CALM DOWN?! SHE'S CHEATING ON US!"
"What- NOBODY'S DATING EACHOTHER."
"IT'S STILL CHEATING!!"
The short girl was having a tantrum on the couch, with Minji barely stopping her from barging into Nmixx's dorm. However, since this is the 5th time this week you're at their house, Minji is currently considering barging in with Hanni.
"...Does she not like us anymore..."
Another slumped body rolled onto the couch.
"DANI NO-"
"Maybe I was too clingy.. Maybe we should let her go... Let her move onto better things.."
"WHY ARE YOU GUYS ALL ACTING LIKE A TEEN GOING THROUGH A BREAKUP!?"
"Yeah, Y/n deserves better..."
"DANIELLE!"
Minji pinched her temple when she heard another person throwing a tantrum in the kitchen. Hyein slammed the fridge door in frustration, causing the whole room to shake. She had a prominent pout on her face, sipping on the Caprisun in her hands (which you bought by the way).
She was grumbling something about Nmixx and how much 'I'm cuter than their maknae', causing Minji to let out an exasperated laugh.
"Everyone calm down!! Y/n told me she's gonna be home soon so-"
"I'm home right now, so..."
You stood at the hallway, watching the three members having a near-breakdown over your absence.
All four of them ran into your body, capturing you in a hug.
“UNNIE!! Why did you take so looong..”
Hyein - being taller than you - was practically carrying your whole body in her arms.
“I was gone for like 3 hours..”
“Way too long if you ask me.”
“But-”
“WAY too long.”
You let out a sigh, “Well, you guys better get used to it then, because I’m visiting them next we-”
“HUH?”
“Yeah, we’re having pizza-”
“PIZZA?! WITHOUT US?? HOW COULD YOU?!”
Minji let out a loud groan, hurriedly leaving you to deal with the children.
#2
“How was your first impression of each other?”
The young man sitting on the sofa was smiling, clearly excited to be interviewing one of the most famous k-pop groups of 2023.
His question wasn’t something new, but it was the first time you guys have been asked it.
You picked up the microphone first, “Well, personally, I just thought all of them were really pretty so…”
The studio filled with laughter from your statement.
“Ah, well then, let’s ask our pretty girls. What did you guys think of Y/n the first time you saw her?”
Hyein was the first to be given the microphone.
“……..Scary.”
“What?!”
The other girls agreed, causing you to look at them in disbelief.
“I was not scary!”
“You were really scary! You were wearing a hat that covered your face and you had a really deep voice!!”
“I had a sore throat that day!”
“You always have a deep voice though?” Hanni teased.
You let out a frustrated groan. “I brought snacks that day! I thought I made a really good impression..” You pouted at Danielle causing the girl to squeal.
“You did in the end! It was just your first look that was really scary. Now you’re just a really big puppy in our eyes.”
The whole group hummed in agreement.
“Hey, wait! I’m not a puppy!”
“Yeah, exactly. You’re not just a puppy. You’re a really big puppy.” Haerin commented with the same expression she always made when teasing you.
Flustered, touched(?), and clearly not used to this kind of treatment by your ‘kiddos’, you let out an awkward cough, causing the interviewer to laugh.
“Haha, I can tell that they really adore you Y/n!”
You can’t contain a smile this time.
———————————————————————
#3
“UNNIE! Do you know where my leather jacket is?!”
It was currently 11:24. Haerin excitedly told you for weeks on end about appearing in Euchae’s Star Diary, and today was finally the day.
Apparently, it was a special episode, with Eunchae, Kyujin, and her going around like a small hangout. The crew apparently wanted a ‘natural vibe’, which meant the girls could choose what kind of outfits they want to wear.
Haerin kept you up all night to pick out an outfit, but apparently she needed her favorite leather jacket - with the star patches - to complete the look.
“Didn’t you leave it at the company last week?”
She let out a soft gasp, immediately followed by a prominent pout on her lips.
“Ah.. but I really wanted a leather jacket to go with this..” She tugged at the shirt she was wearing. After a few second of watching her sulk, you grabbed your own jacket and threw it over her shoulder.
“How about this one?”
Haerin let out a giggle, “Hmm.. I think this might be better than the star one..!”
“It’s settled then. Come on, our manager’s probably waiting for you downstairs.”
“Oh, can I really borrow it?”
“Of course. If you don’t plan on throwing it in the sea, you can wear it as much as you want.”
You watched as a tiny smile tugged at the corner of her lips.
“….”
“Did you forget something, bub?”
Haerin stood at the entrance, hesitantly looking at you and her feet.
“….s.”
“Hmm?”
“….Thanks… for helping me out…..I’ll see you later!!”
She burst through the front door, leaving you dumb founded. After a few second to process everything, you finally let out a loud laugh.
“Not a problem, kitty.”
———————————————————————
#4
You were tired, that's for sure.
It's approximately 14 days and 3 hours away from your group's comeback. And you've been a mess for approximately 30 days.
Being the oldest meant alot of pressure onto you from the company. For a while, the pressure was always on Minji, but ever since you stumbled into her crying after being yelled at by the choreographer, you decided take charge a bit more.
Being screamed at was fine - it's you or the others, and you'll gladly be the victim if it meant the girls weren't. Being forced to attend meetings at midnight was fine - you're already high on caffeine. Fuck it - having a clip board thrown into your shoulder was fine and even being slapped by a random producer was fine.
At least in the moment it was.
Everything all came back to you in the dorms.
When the effects of the energy drink you chugged flushes out and when the ringing in your ears changes into the sounds of Hanni's favorite TV show, you finally feel the burning sensation on your right cheek.
That day was the first time your members saw you cry.
Hyein was barely awake, having been waiting for you to come home. She dragged her feet towards the front door when she heard you unlock it.
You simply stood there, tears streaming down your face.
The maknae took a few moments to shake off the sleep left in her body and immediately took you into her arms.
"Wha- it's okay, it's okay unnie. C'mon I'm here..."
You sobbed uncontrollably, clutching onto the younger's body like she would fade away if you let go even for a moment.
Hyein was confused (I mean she woke up like 5 minutes ago), but all she cared about was the fact her unnie - the strongest person she knew - was having a breakdown, barely a feet inside the house.
You think you passed out from exhaustion in her arms.
When you gained consciousness again, you were in your bed. Hyein was underneath you (most likely unable to leave because of your hands clutching onto her pajamas) and through bleary eyes, you could see Danielle cuddled up right next to the two of you.
With her hand tightly gripping onto the pajamas somebody changed you into.
"Oh, you're awake."
Minji was in the doorway with a tray of food and a plastic box.
You pushed yourself off of the maknae and sat on the ledge of the bed.
"Yeah, um.." Your voice cracked immediately, making Minji let out a chuckle.
"I brought you breakfast? If you want some, of course."
"I.. I'd love to. Thanks bub."
After a few moments of silence, Minji finally decided to start a conversation.
"So... How are you feeling?"
"Haha... I'm not sure actually." You let out a nervous laugh.
As you played with your food, you could sense Minji's eyes boring into you. What you couldn't sense was her grabbing your face, and wiping it down with a wet towel she brought.
"Agh- what are you doin-"
"What happened to your face?"
Silence, again.
"What about your shoulder? Why is it bruised like that?"
Ah, so she changed your clothes.
"...I don't want to talk about it."
You could see her eyebrows furrow. She clearly doesn't like your answer, but doesn't want to pry any farther. At least not right now.
Minji lets out a sigh, "Fine."
"I'm okay Minj-"
"We know you're not."
She starts adding ointment onto your her hand, rubbing it onto your burning face.
"And it's fine if you're not ready to tell us."
You stare into her eyes.
"But just... I just want you to know, we're always here... Always."
Steve telling robin about this girl who he’s spoken to a few times and reallly wants to ask out and she’s a big hype man for his love quest. But then he comes in one day to see robin very innocently flirting with you bc she doesn’t know you’re the girl Steve’s talking about. So queue shenanigans of him trying to get robin away in anyway that won’t make you think he’s weird, but maybe he’s going to trip her over or something so he can tell her that’s you and she can be his wingman instead, just a funny shenanigans plot haha
Steve doesn't think twice about the bell to the shop tinkling over the door from where he's rewinding tapes in the back. He watches the picture rapidly flit from scene to scene of Pretty in Pink, until the credits appear and he ejects the VHS from the player. He slides it into its sleeve, but then he hears your voice, a sound that breaks him out of the monotony of his job, and has his feet moving towards the door of their own accord.
He rushes out to the counter, cursing himself for letting Robin take the counter for this shift. You usually come later, so he'd been prepared to swap with her before 5PM, but it's 3 now and you're chatting jovially over the counter with her.
"Your bracelet is gorgeous," She croons, and there's something more-than-friendly about the way she cradles your wrist in her hand to admire it, "It suits you really well."
"Aw, thank you!" You gush, grinning at her, "I called ahead to reserve The Goonies, Steve said he'd put it behind the counter?"
He had put it behind the counter. He'd set aside cash there, too, because he was going to pay your rental fee, and when you'd thank him for it, he was going to say that it was no big deal. But that if you wanted, you could come over to his place to watch it? And he'd pay for pizza too, you wouldn't have to worry about that. So when Robin reaches for the movie, Steve jumps into action.
"Oh, yeah! Here it is," Robin grabs the tape from where it's tucked beneath Steve's jacket near the trash can, "Okay, $1.99 for the rental fee, and you'll have to pay another $0.99 for every day after this Friday that you keep it."
"Actually, Rob," Steve rushes to the counter, cheeks slightly flushed as you turn to watch him, "Uh, I can take this one."
"I got it," She stares awkwardly at him, hand already reaching for the two dollar bills you're handing her
"Uh, no I- I need your help in the back," He jerks a thumb towards the rewind room, "Would you-? I'll- we'll be right back," He smiles at you, gripping her bicep and tugging her away from the counter before she can take your money, "Just give me a second!"
"Dude!" She hisses the moment the door is shut, "What's the matter with you? I totally could have handled that!"
"That's the girl I was telling you about," Steve gushes, his eyes wide and his hands tense at his sides, "I- You can't flirt with the girl I like!'
Her eyes widen momentarily, and her shoulders sag, "Oh, Steve, I didn't know. Okay, uh- alright, you can ring her up. God, why do you always call dibs on the pretty ones?"
"Thanks, Robin," Steve grins, patting her on the shoulder as he rushes for the door. He jogs back to the counter, matching your kind smile with his own where you've set your $2 on the counter.
"Hey, uh, no worries," He stands at the cash register, pushing your bills back towards you and pulling out his own, "I got this one."
Your brows furrow, "Wait- you...? No, I got it! Steve, I'll pay for it, it's okay."
"Don't worry about it!' He insists, pointedly ignoring the way you're holding the cash up for him and sticking his own bills in the register, "I just- I thought that, uh, it would be nice if you came over to my place to watch it. Tonight. Or- or some other night, if tonight doesn't work. But I-," He stammers, grinning sweetly at you, "I can pay."
Your eyes soften, and the hand with the money in it sags. Your confused frown morphs into a smile, "I'd love to come over, Steve. Tonight doesn't work, I'm babysitting." You lament, "But I'm free tomorrow, if you are?"
Steve has a closing shift tomorrow.
"Yeah, no I'm- I'm free." He nods vigorously, already thinking about what food he can bribe Robin with to switch her hours with his tomorrow, "Uh, I can come pick you up at six?"
"Six-thirty," You bargain, and he hands you the tape with a smile and a nod, "Thanks, Steve."
"Yeah, anytime! See you then!" He calls after you as you head for the door, and he waits until you're safely out of the parking lot to rush for the back room, not wanting you to see his desperation.
"She said yes!" He practically shouts, scaring Robin so much that she drops the tape she's holding. It shatters on the ground, plastic spewing over the scratchy carpet, and she shares a horrified glance with Steve.
"Shit. Uh," He stammers, floundering for a solution that won't cost him more than his allowance, "I'll buy a blank tape, just- stick it in there and don't tell anyone. Here," He digs in his pocket, pulling out a ten dollar bill he'd planned to use for gas, "Take this, that's, like, $4 for the tape and $6 for dinner tomorrow night, you're closing."
"I don't have a closing-" She starts, her brows furrowing, then her eyes narrow and she fixes him with an unimpressed stare.
"Really?"
"She wants to meet tomorrow!" Steve insists, running a hand through his hair, "Just- take the cash, Rob. Plus, you owe me one," He reasons, "You flirted with my girl."
"She's not your girl," Robin gripes, but she's more than happy to take the money, "Just be glad I'm an easy bribe, doofus."
#☆ yandere glamrock freddy !¡ headcanons
(this is my first time writing something so bear with me 😭 it was kinda rushed near the end)
cw: possessive behaviour, overprotectiveness, slightly controlling, slight stockholm syndrome, slightly manipulative, typical yandere behaviour you would expect
- for starters as you would expect and just like everyone else would agree, glamrock freddy is a much more tame yandere
- he’s definitely not out for blood and would in no way physically harm you or others unless absolutely pushed to do so (and only then he would hurt others if absolutely necessary)
- but he will absolutely guilt trip you with those sweet eyes of his and insist that he’s the only one who could really protect you and keep you safe from the harsh reality of the world and all of its cruelties
- whether you’re an employee at the mega pizza plex or simply a customer who stops by when they can, you manage to catch the bots eye on day one
- for example let’s say we went with the idea that you were an employee that worked for the massive place, it would be your first day and of course the usual anxieties of starting something new start to overwhelm you a little
- especially since your main duties would be maintenance work on the big four
- and who else but freddy would immediately pick up on the fact that you were nervous on your first day and happily offer guidance and reassurance
- i mean he practically spends the whole day with you glued to your hip, or at least as much as he can, what with being the big man himself
- but as soon as any shows or birthday parties were finally over with freddy would immediately find his way to wherever you were and fret over how you were doing without him
- had you taken enough breaks? did you drink enough water? did you have something to eat on break? have customers and coworkers been nice to you? have his band mates been treating you well? did you miss him?
- all of these are questions that freddy would fire off rapidly due to worry
- eventually, after some time working at the pizza plex, you open up to freddy about how the monotony of work was getting to you
- and that having to deal with shitty coworkers and customers five days a week was utterly exhausting
- that’s when the idea clicked in the bots head
- freddy could tell you were tired and so who better than him to rescue you from all of that stress and nonsense?
- he just knew that he was the only who could keep you happy and content, even if that meant locking you away in his room
- “but superstar… you shouldn’t have to worry about such silly things like work. you’re too precious to be so stressed out and tired. so let me take care of you from now on. I promise I can make you happy in here with me. It’ll be just us…. forever and ever”
- and a part of that delusional offer does sound tempting you have to admit, to have the glamrock freddy care for you and look after you, but at the end of the day escape still lingered in the back of your mind
- the same could be said if you were a customer as well
- only difference is that freddy would have first met you after his performance, he recognized you from all the cheering you did, it was incredibly endearing
- after that freddy would eagerly wait for you, counting down the days until your next visit and celebrating each and every time you stopped by
- but he would still just as easily find a way to convince you to come with him in his room to spend time together
- “come on superstar! it’s been too long since we last got to hang out, let’s catch up in my room! i have plenty of time before my next show”
- and who wouldn’t trust the big ol’ sweetheart?
- that’s when you would find yourself with the door locking heavily behind you and freddy managing to slip you a nighttime candy or two
- “shhh now superstar, i’ve got you, you’re finally safe now with me” and that would be the last thing you hear before your whole world slowly fades to black
“we were meant for each other, no one else can love you the way i do, so let’s stay together forever…. alright?”
A/N: I can’t sleep, I miss Eddie, and we still going through it, babes… So I channeled it into this. Love y’all, and thank you for making my dark days brighter ❤️
Warnings: Hurt that ends in comfort, angst with a happy ending, friends to lovers, fluff, depression, anxiety, mentions of past trauma/injury (Eddie’s wounds), & mental illness (reader has bipolar disorder).
Tumblr media
The noise is soft, quiet enough that you can hear it if you lay to listen for a few seconds. Then it raises in octaves, a few clatters and curses. And despite the haze of your mood, a brief bit of fog dissipates, pinching your brow into an amused raise.
“Shit, fuckin’… slap my ass and call me your whore.”
You cover your mouth with a snort, as your fuzzy sock clad feet touch hardwood, and you make your way into the night light lit hallway. There’s a buttery glow from your kitchen that spills out around the corner, giving you a perfect view of your overly theatrical friend — Eddie Munson, as you come into the eye-line. He’s clad in a black t-shirt and whitewash jeans, his pizza decorated socks covering his own feet. His curls are damp, bordering on drying, and he hums a rhythm as you watch him flip a golden shaped object with your Goodwill gifted spatula. You perch yourself against the paneled wall, a warmth stirring in your belly.
He’s had to have used your spare key, and now he’s here before it’s barely even daylight — making something in your kitchen? First off, he wakes up this early? And second, he can cook?
That’s what leaves your mouth, following a series of scolding laughters when he’s clearly startled and drops the utensil on the stove. His rings clink together as he pinches his shirt collar, and you want to apologize, an instant guilt brimming you at surprising him like this. After everything that happened a few months ago, you really should’ve thought your entrance through (despite this being your own home). Eddie tuts, a smirk suddenly finding him amongst his Bambi eyed mirth.
“You scared the shit out of me, kiddo. Thought you were another hoard of bats coming for my other nipple.” He snatches up the utensil and flips it Steve Harrington style, calming your sudden anxiety, and easing your guilt.
You make your way over beside him, bare hip resting against the kitchen counter. He smiles softly, pouring in (what you now see is pancake batter) more of the mixture, flashing a wink your way. You look so fucking perfect and soft, just in socks, panties, and your oversized shirt with stars and crescent moon prints scattered about on it. He’s used to seeing this on you, but it never gets old. When you nursed him back to health after he was released from the hospital, you both grew a lot closer, having been mere acquaintances beforehand.
Changing his dressings, soothing his nightmares, helping him in and out of the shower — you took care of him in ways Eddie never knew existed. You were fearless, you were brave, you were funny, you were smart, you were beautiful and sexy, and as Nancy Wheeler had put it — he was totally fucking in love with you, like old classic — tickle your belly and balls type of romance movies. Once he had reluctantly left to return to the trailer with his uncle to repair the damage, he found that his desire to be near you had increased. And all was going well, until you started staying away from everyone, your voice languid and breathless when he’d call. He was worried it was your own processing of things that occurred, even if you’d been through it a few more years than he had, but Wheeler came through again with her knowing.
You were dealing with something that Eddie recognized as ‘manic depression’. He’d heard about it, seen it printed on the pamphlets in the nurse and guidance counselor’s office. Bipolar disorder. Nancy had explained (with the help of Steve) that you get like this sometimes, that it almost always follows your elevated periods of elated euphoria. Combine that with everything else that happened to you — Eddie immediately went into protective care mode.
He’d gotten up, showered, dressed, and phoned Harrington since he wasn’t able to drive yet. Steve came without question, especially fast on his way when Eddie mentioned the errands were for you. Both boys had gone to the local fabric shop, purchased the curtain and rod, tripped to the grocery store, and Steve had dropped Eddie off. He used his spare key and got to work on his speciality: chocolate chip flapjacks. He intended on surprising you with them, maybe waiting until he thought you were awake.
He didn’t mean to startle you, nor upset you. He’s quick to ease and relax, joking with you, praying you’re not mad that he’s here, invading you, your space, and whatever you’re going through.
Eddie flips the last cake, sprinkling in a few chips, and he’s flashing a cheshire grin, one that fades to a crooked tilt of his lips. “M’ sorry… I didn’t mean to, sort of… break in here? I planned on waiting — shit, that sounds creepy. No, I just wanted to have this ready for you… whenever you might, maybe want to have it?”
You cause his heart to swell ten times in size when you smile and reach up to push a lock of his curls off his forehead. “I’m glad you’re here.”
You’ve put an old movie on TV as you devour the fluffy, butter and syrup covered mountains. Whatever Happened To Baby Jane. Like you, Eddie is comforted by classic horror films, and can easily fall asleep to the controlled atmosphere they contain. When forks clatter against floral printed ceramic, and you take Eddie’s plate, deciding to forgo the dishes, he makes a beeline for the remaining bag, showing you the other items. You nearly cry on the spot, emotions circulating that you aren’t prepared to deal with today.
Turning off the living room television, you follow Eddie into your bedroom and help as he mounts the new rod and hangs your blackout bedroom curtains. And you… maybe sneak a few looks at the way his shirt rides up and his jeans tighten across his ass. It doesn’t take long before he’s got them secured, first breaks of dawn light spilling in through your blinds and illuminating his sweet features. Your fingers itch to touch, and you think he might reach for you, might feel the same wild, heart racing sense of vertigo, yet being serenely satiated.
“Oh yeah, here.” He slides his wallet from his back pocket, the chain dangling across his palm, and he pulls a small square card with a quote on it — out, handing it to you.
One day you will tell your story of how you overcame what you went through and it will be someone else’s survival guide
Below it, you recognize his doodling. A hand drawn, mini bouquet of daisies. He might not be able to afford real flowers, but he can use what skill he does have and draw them for you. He just hopes that you don’t mind. Your eyes are brimmed full of tears when he looks back up to catch your reaction. His gut sinks into his ass, and he fears he overstepped or set something off.
Hell, probably both.
He tries to backtrack. “No, hey. I’m sorry, I didn’t mean for that to make you upset, sweetheart. I just… I was trying to find something to think of to say, because my words kind of get lost in my mouth, catapulting into the space of my brain.”
“Eddie, it’s okay.” Your voice is jagged, tone being dragged over fragments of emotion, throat swollen and damp with it.
He keeps going, more bold to be vocal now. “I think that it’s okay for you to ride it out here. You don’t need to force yourself into ideas of sunshine and physical activity. You’ve been through so much shit, and if your brain is on fire, then you deserve to put it out and let it fuckin’ rest.” He approaches you cautiously, tone gentle and warm like honey going down, almost raspy with it. “You don’t need to force yourself to be okay. Not with anyone, and sure as hell not with me. I mean, you’ve seen my guts hanging out and my nipple ripped off, I’d say we’re well past pretending, aren’t we?”
You’re speechless, body growing heavy and eyes tired. You can’t convey the hope that blooms, popping a bubble through the haze of the fog inside you. It’s not much, but it’s enough to help your psyche stop the race and let you breathe. Eddie is able to sense your fatigue, and he reaches out to squeeze your shoulders, motioning to the hall. “You close these on up and I’ll call you later tonight, yeah?”
He gets about two steps away from you and you’re calling for him. It’s comedic how fast he turns around. “Eddie? Will you stay?”
Tumblr media
You’d turned the movie back on, on the set in your room, curtains closed and leaving the expanse shrouded in the glow of the set. Your head is resting on his chest, his jeans on the floor, legs tangled in yours beneath the patchwork quilt. The air conditioner is going, right along with the steady beating of two hearts, and Eddie doesn’t stop you when you knuckle-nudge his splayed palm up, pressing his fingers open to slide your own through. He accepts, squeezing, lacing, looking at you through the opening of light, and you lean into the kiss he presses to your crown. You’ll talk about things later, but for now… It’s okay.
Out of all the holidays, the entirety of March and Halloween were your favorite.
The entirety of March, because spring just started and flowers were blooming in full. It felt like a religious experience to just watch and admire their beauty while it exists. And Halloween, because sometimes you wanted to dress up as some obscure character from a niche TV show and dance at clubs with your best friend.
The best friend who was ditching you right this second.
“I’m sorry!” Cassie said through the phone. “Val’s mother was rear-ended by a guy in a scarecrow costume and insisting to sue. I’m totally tied up in this!”
“It’s a rear-end, call her insurance company!”
“Apparently she was holding champagne and the rear-end caused it to spill onto her new dress. I’m trying to get her to drop it!”
La Liberté sucked during Halloween. Ron the Bartender absolutely hated rowdy crowds, so they only accepted patrons with membership during Halloween weekend. You protested, of course, but him and the stick up his ass won the rock-paper-scissors game you hinged the decision onto.
You thought about calling Prentiss, but she made it clear that she would lock herself up with Sergio for the entire Halloween weekend.
So you called the only person you knew who loved Halloween just as much as you did.
"What are your plans for tonight?" You asked the moment he picked up.
"Uh, Doctor Who marathon and pizza?"
"Put on your costume. I'll be there in fifteen."
There was a three seconds silence from the other end, before Spencer cleared his throat. "I –uh, am in costume."
You glanced at the mirror in your foyer: your sexy Velma outfit was still immaculate. "Great!"
Spencer was confused when you drove them to the campus area of Georgetown. The car didn't move so swiftly, since it is Halloween weekend, and you tried your best not to hit any dressed-up drunk college kids. He tried not to be nervous around so many people, and he was glad he didn't put body paint on his palm.
When you picked him up, you had grinned at his Frankenstein's monster costume and sprayed his face with something called a "setting spray".
"20-something year-olds with daddy's money are more likely to buy you drinks, but easier to fend off when they get too pushy." You explained to him. "They're most likely to be underage anyway, so they wouldn't mess with us."
"You do realize you're a federal agent now?" Spencer said, anxiety spiking at the thought that he had to ignore all the law breaking he witnessed tonight.
You parked the car at an empty spot, turning off the ignition. Once you were settled, you turned to him fidgeting on the passenger seat. "Not tonight, we aren't. Tonight, I'm Velma and you're Frankenstein's monster."
You were right.
The drinks didn't stop coming.
He debated whether he should break his sobriety just so he didn't have to deal with this sober.
This, being the knowledge that every other guy in this club was –appreciating the way you look. The short skirt, the cropped sweater, the shitty wig, even to the comically large glasses. He started to regret not persuading you to join him in his place for a scary movie marathon instead.
At least he'd have you all to himself.
You had just gone back from the bathroom when a waiter dropped a drink on your table. You took a sip, then cringed, before sliding it away.
"You know those girls near the DJ booth?" You said, tilting your head to their general direction.
"Um, no." He said, sipping on his Cherry coke.
"They've been looking at you for the past half hour." You told him. "They're trying to get your attention!"
Spencer turned his head to the table of girls dressed as zombie cheerleaders. Sure enough, once their eyes met, the girls turned around and giggled at each other.
He felt his cheeks heat up in embarrassment.
"They look really young." Spencer muttered.
"I checked with the bartender. They're IDs are legit."
"They're still really young."
"Spencer, you're trying to have a one-night-stand, not groom them!" You squeeze his arm softly in protest. "I thought Derek had given you his exclusive Lessons in Confidence to talk to girls?"
"That's not the issue."
"Then what is?"
"They're not –I don't care about –I just–" Spencer took a deep breath. "I came out here to be with you, not them."
He saw the surprise in your eyes, then the understanding. There was a second of regret, fear that you'd push him away for being honest, until your lips pulled into a smile.
"You're right," you said. "You're mine for the night, and I'm yours."
With that you pulled him into the dance floor, and for the first time tonight, he was finally relaxed enough to follow your movements to Monster Mash.
Tonight, you were Velma and Frankenstein's monster.
No past, no future, just the present.
Just the way your hands feel against him, the way your body fits in his arms.
The way your short skirt flowed with your movement, the way his body paint tainted the exposed skin of your midriff.
The way you smell. The way you smile. The way you were looking at him.
And Spencer was definitely not thinking about kissing you.
He totally was.
And apparently, you had the same idea.
Your arms were around his neck, your faces just inches away.
"Just Velma," you said.
"And Frankenstein's monster." He finished.
With that, your lips met, and he swore there was no better feeling.
By the time you arrived at his place, neither of you could take your hands off of each other.
During the car ride, Spencer had to navigate the drunken college kids with his other hand underneath your skirt. You had given him full access to your pussy when you made it out of the crowd, moaning softly at the intrusion his fingers made. Your black lacy thong pulled aside, and you couldn't care less about making a mess on your leather seats.
Your hands reached out and palmed him through his pants. His fingers stuttered, so did his eyelids.
"If you want to get back faster, you have to stop that." He said. You pouted but obliged.
Spencer pushed you against his door after locking it, one hand on your jaw to keep your lips connected. The other hand was pining yours up your head. Spencer moved to pull your bottom lips with his teeth.
"Spence–" you started to say, but his fingers slipped lower and tightened slightly on your throat. You moaned. "Baby."
"Yeah, sweetheart?" He said, heavy lidded eyes looking at your soul. "What do you need?"
"You," you said without hesitation. "You, please."
"Good girl," he whispered. He let go of your hand to peel off your sweater. You slipped off his outer shirt, and tugged at his t-shirt underneath.
You broke away and grabbed him by his belt and waistband. He let you lead him to his bedroom.
"Would you sit on the bed for me?" You asked him ever so sweetly.
He did, and you spread his knees apart before kneeling in front of him.
He moaned at the sight.
His hand went to cup your jaw, thumb caressing your lips as you pulled his pants down. His long member jumped out of its constraints, leaking pre-cum.
Slowly, you moved your hand from his base up to his tip, swiping the leakage with your thumb. Spencer hissed, pulling your face closer to his dick.
"Don't tease," he rasped.
"As you wish," you said, licking your way up.
Spencer couldn't help but moan at the feeling of your lips around him. He couldn't help but buckle his hips, forcing you to take more of him. He nearly lost it when you moaned around him.
It felt so good, like your lips were made for him to kiss and to fuck.
"Stop," he said, pulling your lips away. You pouted. "I want to cum inside you."
And he did.
He pulled you up and turned you around so you were on all fours on the bed, skirt lifted up and your thong still was just pushed away. Spencer used his fingers to make sure you were ready.
"Feel that?" He said. "So wet and tight, just for me. Why would I want any other pussy when I have this?"
You moaned at his words. "Baby, please, just need to feel you deep in–ughh!"
Spencer entered your pussy slowly, like he was savoring the feeling. You couldn't help your moan at him bottoming out, savoring his blissed-out groan.
"Shit." He cursed.
"Move," you whined.
He held his hands on your hips, moving your hips to his rhythm. You could feel him deep inside you, hitting that spot over and over again without problem because despite what you both pretended to be, you knew each other better than anyone else.
Spencer moved his hands and wrapped one around your waist, and another on your neck. He pulled you up and held you close, still pumping in and out you.
Your body shook with pleasure.
"That's it, sweetheart," he whispered in your ear. "You feel so good, I'm not gonna last."
Spencer squeezed your throat tighter, moving your head to one side to have better access to the other side of your throat. He started kissing, sucking, biting, making you up as his.
You couldn't find it in you to complain, not when you had marked his inner thighs earlier.
"Please, Spence," you begged, and relished his moan in your ear. He moved his hand again, now holding you by your boobs and circling your clit with the other.
It sent you into overdrive.
Your pussy clenched around his cock and you came.
Spencer stopped moving inside you, savoring the feeling of the way your pussy gripped him, the warmth of your came dripping down his cock.
"You're heavenly," he said, before pulling you off and threw you on the bed.
Without wasting another second, he was inside you again.
You made a sound of pleasure at the feeling of overstimulation. Your legs wrapped around his waist, hips moving to match his pace.
You were looking at him now.
The constellation in his eyes, the smudged make up, the wild hair.
You were in love with Spencer Reid.
You had been in love with him from the very beginning.
And you could never, ever tell him.
The realization hit like cold water, but the pleasure was better.
You pulled him into a kiss, your tongue slipping with his as his hips stuttered. Your legs pulled him closer, deeper, and you felt him cum inside you.
Fuck.
You were screwed.
But not tonight.
Tonight, you were Velma and Frankenstein's monster.
i have a Ted logan request! it’s kinda inspired by the tutor piece you wrote but instead of being Ted’s tutor she’s Deacons tutor (or babysitter) instead and she comes over to the Logan household and Ted sees her there and is immediately head over heels for her and is constantly trying to find an excuse to go to whatever room she’s in and stay there much to the annoyance of Deacon and their father on occasion
sorry if i got to specific but you’re my fav Ted Logan writer and I’m happy his requests are open!!!
young as we are
summary: you're deacon logan's new babysitter. it doesn't seem like it'll be anything too special -- until you meet his cute older brother, that is. (gn!reader)
wordcount: 3.8k
A/N: okay so I might've changed around the prompt a teensy bit, but hopefully it still fits what you wanted. i'm no good at writing slow stuff so i got kinda impatient lmao (also. i'm?? your favorite?? you have no idea how genuinely happy that makes me. i'm smiling like an idiot. thank you so much.)
Tumblr media
You checked the note you'd written the address down on to make sure you hadn't gotten the wrong house -- okay, all good -- before ringing the doorbell.
The house itself was pretty nice, just looking at the exterior. One of the perks of babysitting in a somewhat well-off area like this one was that you usually got paid decently for your troubles; and it wasn't nearly as bad as working retail, if the stories you'd heard from your friends were anything to go off of. And kids could be sweet, unlike food service customers.
It was only half a minute before the door was answered by a balding middle-aged man with a stern expression. Mr. Logan, you presumed; it was probably his voice you'd heard on the phone.
"You must be the babysitter," he stated directly, not giving you time to answer, "come in, then. I have some things I have to inform you of." He didn't wait, disappearing into the house and leaving the door ajar behind him. Feeling slightly awkward, you followed.
Once you entered the foyer, he began speaking again. "Deacon's probably in his room right now. He has to be in bed by nine P.M., and he knows that, but I don't doubt that without me being present he'll try to stay up." Indicating some bills on the counter, he continued, "there's some money for a pizza. The number to call is on the refrigerator. Dinner should be at six."
"Oh, and my … eldest son, Ted." If it was even possible, his tone became more snide. "He should be back in an hour or two. Don't let him bother you at all -- if he gets too annoying, just let me know when I get back later in the evening, and I'll deal with him."
You barely got out an "uh, okay, thanks" before Mr. Logan was yelling for Deacon.
He was maybe around twelve, you guessed. It was obvious that he was reluctant to come downstairs, but did so after a look from his father. You smiled at him, but he didn't return it; you didn't really mind. He was at that awkward age, after all. And if your instincts were correct, an overbearing father could inflict a number on any kid.
It wasn't that you weren't familiar with strict parents -- but it was near-impossible to get entirely used to them. Being in charge of their children meant that you had to be extra careful. You couldn't trust a young kid to not tell on you if you were a little lenient when it came to bedtimes, and you couldn't trust an older kid to not try and put the fact that you were more easy-going than their parents to the test.
Still, once Mr. Logan had left, you immediately relaxed.
And so did Deacon, by the looks of it, because suddenly his tense demeanor all but disappeared.
It was almost frightening how abruptly he turned his attention from his father's car pulling down the driveway to you.
"You ever watched RoboCop?"
He asked, with a certain bluntness only preteen boys were capable of.
"No, I haven't." Encouragingly, you smiled again. "What's that?"
"I have the tape," and already he was turning away, "gimmie a sec."
You had the sneaking suspicion that his father didn't have the same enthusiasm for science fiction movies.
And you were right; even during the movie he spoke up now and then to tell you stuff about the characters or the plot. About how "RoboCop could probably take down an entire army by himself". You thought it was kind of spooky how the titular protagonist was a reanimated guy forced to follow cyborg programming to uphold "justice" in an already-corrupt city, disregarding any humanity he once had.
… Or something like that. Deacon just found the guy "badass".
By the time that you'd nearly reached the ending of the movie, you were invested.
But not too invested to not look up when the front door opened, and thus you made eye contact with probably the prettiest guy you'd seen in a while.
He froze midway through his path to the stairs.
For a moment, both of you just looked at each other. He looked familiar.
Oh, yeah, you'd seen him at school a couple times. Passed by him in the hallways or in the cafeteria, maybe. You hadn't really noticed him before, but maybe that was because you hadn't gotten a good look at him. Like now.
And then Deacon took notice, coughing in an awfully non-subtle way into his fist, and you realized that maybe you shouldn't stare like a creep.
"Uh, you must be Ted, right?" You laughed semi-awkwardly. "Hi. I'm just gonna be babysitting Deacon until your dad gets home."
Hopefully you remembered his name correctly. From the way his father had said it, you had expected him to be some flavor of delinquent -- piercings, leather jacket, all that stuff that an uptight man like Mr. Logan would disprove of. A high school dropout who was bumming around in his dad's basement without a source of stable income.
That couldn't be further from the truth; the Ted you were seeing now was a slightly gangly, floppy-haired boy your age who was looking at you like he'd seen an angel.
It took him a moment, but he nodded vigorously in response to your question.
"Yes. Yeah. I'm -- that's me." Ted glanced away, finally breaking away your gaze. "Um. What's your name? I - … I don't think we've been introduced before, dude." Even from your position on the couch, you could pick out spots of rose pink on his cheeks. Even as he focused determinedly on the ground.
You couldn't help but be hopelessly endeared, so you gave him your name.
He gently repeated it once, as if trying out how it felt on his tongue. "Oh. Radical."
There was another brief moment, in which the movie still playing on the boxy television faded into the background. Then, his eyes were back on yours; they were a warm brown, you noticed.
Apparently, Deacon had enough of his older brother interrupting his sacred movie, because he spoke up again, breaking the silence. "Ted, don't you have stuff to do?"
You wanted to reprimand Deacon for his less-than-polite tone, but didn't have the chance, because Ted responded first.
"Oh." Seemingly snapping back to reality, he glanced away. "Yeah. Sorry 'bout that."
Before you could tell him that you were going to order food later, he'd bounded up the stairs, taking them two at a time. You heard the far-off shutting of a door; and then a little later, muffled music that had a lot of distorted electric guitar and drums.
Deacon scoffed to himself, but settled further into the couch cushions.
You didn't see Ted again that night. He didn't even come downstairs to snatch a slice of pepperoni pizza, and just remained in his room. Maybe he didn't want to bother his little brother anymore, you thought, trying your hardest not to feel disappointed; even if you'd barely had any sort of conversation with him, there was something … Something very magnetic.
Mr. Logan was back at around eleven, and by that time you were seated by the television once more. Alone, because you'd miraculously managed to get Deacon to go to bed.
"I'm guessing everything went fine," remarked Mr. Logan, taking off his cap. You were beginning to get used to his clipped tone, and shut off the terrible sitcom you'd been killing time with.
"Yeah, I left the change for the food on the counter."
He pulled out his wallet, counting out crisp bills.
"Did Ted give you any trouble?"
Taking the money, you made sure it was the correct amount -- why'd you even bother, a man like Mr. Logan must've been specific about everything. "No, not at all. He barely said anything to me, actually."
He only gave you a noncommittal hum in response to that, not even looking in your direction as he headed for the counter; probably to make sure you weren't stealing any of the change. "Well, good night."
It wasn't a thank you -- not even close, but you'd take it. You'd been paid, after all.  "Good night."
Ted's face upon seeing you still was fresh in your mind as you made your way home. And during the next several days that passed. It wasn't surprising, really. Nobody had ever looked at you like that; nobody had ever looked in awe of you on sight. At least, not anybody that had really caught your attention.
Eventually, Mr. Logan called again. Apparently he had another work thing to do -- not that you were listening closely when he mentioned it. Your heart jumped at another opportunity to see Ted; it was a little embarrassing, really. You weren't some boy-crazed lunatic, pining after a guy you barely knew.
Well, pining was a strong word. But you did pay extra attention when walking around at school, trying to catch a glimpse of him on your way to your classes.
(You didn't.)
This time, your pulse picked up when you walked up to the house. You even hesitated before you rang the doorbell again. But when you did, you heard some general commotion from within the house before Deacon answered the door, looking a little annoyed.
"Hi," he said, "Dad's getting ready or whatever."
He stepped aside to let you in. "I thought Ted was gonna answer the door. But he ran off as soon as he heard the doorbell." Sighing, he flopped down on the couch. "Lazy ass."
As if on cue, Mr. Logan entered the living room, fixing his hat. You idly wondered if he wore it to hide the fact that he basically lacked all of his hair except for on the sides and back.
"Deacon, watch your language."
"Sorry." Even though his voice was muffled into the cushions, he didn't sound apologetic in the slightest.
Mr. Logan turned his attention to you. "You don't need a refresher on anything, right." It sounded more like an order than a question, but you chose to look past it. At least he had offered to jog your memory if needed. The bare minimum was nice sometimes.
"Yeah, I'll be fine."
He gave you a curt nod. It wasn't until you heard the garage door shutting behind his car that Deacon sat bolt upright, suddenly energized.
You looked at him expectantly.
"Let's watch Ghostbusters," he declared. "Dad thinks it's stupid."
And so, with little fanfare, you were basically doing the same thing as last time. But instead of dystopia, the setting was mildly less disturbing this time. And the main protagonists were human and likable. No offense to cyborg cops, but he didn't offer much in the way of personality -- so nobody could blame you.
You were sure you'd seen this movie before, but the memory was vague enough that most of the events were new to you. However, even though you were focused on watching the film, there was something else on the back of your mind. An underlying antsiness; and you had a good idea why.
Said antsiness was confirmed when, about half an hour into the movie, you heard footsteps coming down the stairs. It took all of your willpower not to look, but you knew who it was.
It was only until he breached your peripheral vision that you allowed yourself to smile.
"Hey, Ted."
Today, he was wearing all loose clothes -- a baggy tee shirt with BLACK SABBATH printed on it in slightly distorted purple font, and what looked like sleep shorts. All in all, it made him look very soft. Like he was planning to do nothing but lay in bed for the entire day. Even his hair was kind of mussed up, a curl or two (or three) sticking out from the rest.
He returned your smile tenfold with a near-blinding grin. "Hey."
Deacon, unlike you, didn't have to hide anything.
"Are you just gonna stand there and stare at the babysitter?"
Delightfully, Ted flushed, hand flying up to fiddle with his hair. "Uh. No. I was just wondering if I could -- " he hesitated, before continuing, "if I could watch the movie too, y'know. I think Ghostbusters is a totally exceptional example of cinema." You didn't catch the way Deacon narrowed his eyes at his older brother.
"Okay. Just don't interrupt too much."
" 'Course."
You were mildly startled when Ted sat down in the middle of you and Deacon -- you'd expected him to sit on the other side, but apparently that wasn't the case. The younger Logan let out an audible sigh and scooted further away.
True to his word, Ted didn't speak up for the majority of the movie. But you were aware of his presence in a way that was almost comparable; since you were mere inches apart. He didn't sit still, and adjusted his position every so often, but you had the feeling that was the norm since Deacon didn't mention it.
However, it seemed by the near-ending Ted reached his limit on not making at least one comment.
"Dude. I forgot how impressive the special effects are," he mused in his best attempt at a hushed tone. "Must've taken them ages to do this stuff."
"Yeah," you agreed, glancing over, "it's pretty cool. Slimer really gives me the creeps."
Ted opened his mouth to respond, but shut up when a loud "shhh!" came from Deacon's general direction.
For a moment, you and him just looked at each other. Then, not able to stifle it in time, you snorted; he lapsed into a fit of giggles, and as a result of that so did you. It wasn't really your fault -- his laugh was very contagious, even muffled like this.
Somehow, you managed to get through the rest of the movie without much more incident. Even if your heart lurched every time Ted's arm or leg accidentally brushed up against yours with the way he was fidgeting.
By the time it was over, it was around six, and so you called to order a pizza. Ted didn't retreat back upstairs, much to Deacon's disappointment, and pretty much hovered around you as you all waited for dinner to arrive. Not in a weird way, not at all -- he just resembled a puppy trying to get attention, really.
"What'd you think of the movie?" He asked, just after you'd gotten off the phone with the pizza place.
"It was pretty good," you hummed, putting down the receiver. "A couple moments were slow, but overall I enjoyed it. What's not to like about some guys capturing ghosts and defeating otherworldly entities?"
"An excellent way to phrase it," grinned Ted, "and I agree most wholeheartedly. The ghost-buster dudes are impossible not to root for."
You chatted a little more about it with him; his way of talking was a bit unique, but somehow you found it just as attractive as everything else. Sadly, your conversation was cut short by the doorbell. As soon as you'd taken a single step in the direction of the door --
" -- I'll get that!" declared Ted, with an enthusiasm that was a little frightening, already moving to grab the pizza.
"Hey, wait, there's money on the counter!"
"... Oh."
Backtracking, he grabbed the cash and resumed his course to the door, covering the distance with long strides.
It wasn't long before the food was gone; and you unceremoniously stuffed the ripped-apart cardboard box into the recycling bin like last time, hoping Mr. Logan wouldn't take issue with how you'd basically just jammed it in. After Deacon had wolfed down maybe three slices, he'd disappeared somewhere. Probably to his room -- you  reminded him to be in bed in time, lest Mr. Logan stop letting you babysit, and he'd only replied with a dull "okay".
You were practically alone with Ted now.
"So, uh." He broke the silence as soon as you returned to the living room. "... Wanna go upstairs? There's not much to do down here 'sides watching more movies."
"I don't see why not," you said without thinking.
For a second, he looked caught off-guard just as much as you were, (seriously, what) but recovered quickly. "Cool. C'mon, dude."
Beaming, he motioned to you, and you were helpless to do anything but follow.
His room was a bit messy, but you would've found it strange if it wasn't. Posters were all over the walls, Metallica and Van Halen and other assorted bands and movies. In the corner was a shelf filled to the brim with various memorabilia; action figures, guitar picks, markers and books that looked kind of dusty. His laundry bin was overflowing a little, but at least it was confined to another corner. Everything was just so Ted and that was probably the best way to describe it.
He made his way over to the window, opening it just a crack. "Let's just keep the window open so we can hear Dad pulling in the driveway. His car is super loud -- I think he'd go ballistic if you were hanging out with me."
You knew he was right, but it still struck a minor chord on your heartstrings -- which you attempted to move past as fast as possible. "Oh, yeah. Good thinking."
At your compliment, he was all smiles again.
You felt yourself melt a little, and sat on the bed before your knees gave out or something.
Before long, you were both sprawled out on the carpet playing a serious game of Uno. For a guy who you were learning wasn't the sharpest crayon in the box, he was pretty good at making you question your own abilities; either that or he was just extremely, ridiculously lucky. He did have an awful poker face, after all.
He snickered every time he drew a plus four or plus two card, and blanched whenever he didn't have a playable card. Which was cute, but also pretty advantageous for you.
After a frustratingly long time of going back and forth; of him denying you every single time you dared call Uno, you finally won.
"Dude!" Ted exclaimed, throwing down his hand as if deeply and truly offended, but you could see that he was grinning again. "That was totally 'cause I let my guard down."
"I don't know," you teased, "or maybe it was because of my great and unbeatable card-game skills."
He hung his head in mock-shame. "You're right. I suck."
You were conflicted between bullying him a little more or comforting him to lessen the blow of your victory, but before you could decide, you both heard the tell-tale sound of tires crunching on the pavement and the whir of the garage door opening. Ted scrambled over to the window, peeking through the small opening he'd left earlier.
"He's back," he announced, turning back to face you.
"Okay," you said, getting to your feet and making sure you hadn't dropped anything. "See you later, Ted."
" 'Bye!" He called after you.
Thankfully, you managed to make it down to the living room, jump onto the couch, and fumble for the remote just in time to turn on the television a good minute before Mr. Logan entered. During that brief time, you felt strangely like you were a spy, a double-agent -- that if you were caught fraternizing with the enemy, you'd be given grave consequences.
It was hilarious, you had to admit.
Mr. Logan didn't ask you about Ted this time, just cutting right to the chase and taking out his wallet.
"Is the change on the counter again?"
"Yeah," you answered, giving him a "thanks" as he handed you a couple bills. You marveled again at how clean they were -- it almost felt criminal to stuff them in your pocket, but what else could you do?
Once more, Mr. Logan turned away, going for the counter. "Good night." If he was as disinterested as he sounded, it was no wonder why he didn't try to make small talk with you at all. And you were grateful for it; you were sure that it'd just be awkward and nothing else. You rushed a little to leave.
But just as your hand turned the doorknob, you were stopped in your tracks by a shout.
"Wait!"
Apparently, you and Mr. Logan were both equally shocked, because he also whipped around mid-action.
In Ted's hasty descent down the stairs, he nearly tripped over himself, but regained what little composure he'd been holding onto, and jogged over to you. Either he didn't notice his father standing there, looking utterly baffled; or he just didn't care. In his hands he was holding a cassette tape.
He held it out to you, still catching his breath. The color in his cheeks could be attributed to his rush downstairs, but you had a sneaking suspicion that wasn't entirely the case. "Here. Sorry. I was gonna give it to you earlier," bashfulness showed clearly in his expression, "but I forgot."
It was only a second before you realized that you'd have to exit the situation to avoid any questions from his father -- whose eyes were darting between the two of you in an extremely worrying manner. So you took it from him, even whilst having absolutely no idea what it was.
"Thanks."
And with that, you were out the door.
--
The second you got home, you got a good look at the tape.
On the outside, written in an untidy scrawl in black Sharpie, was your answer. It was a mixtape. How much time had he spent making this for you? Your mind conjured up an image of him sitting by the record player you'd seen in his room, painstakingly selecting his favorite songs to record.
Flipping it over, you realized there was a scrap of paper taped to it -- a note.
You hardly had to think about the question hastily written on it with a bright pink marker, with little stars doodled around the edges.
It was the only thing that was running through your mind for the rest of the night. They were agonizing, the few days that passed before you finally received a call from Mr. Logan again. It was probably the only time ever that you were glad to hear his voice.
Deacon was a little disappointed when you told him to wait a minute to watch Raiders of the Lost Ark.
"Don't start loudly making out or anything," he said, sulking as you quickly ascended the stairs. You wanted to scold him for the sake of preserving your own dignity, but you had more pressing matters to focus on at the moment.
"So," Ted began sheepishly, after you entered his room. "You got my note, right?"
"I listened to the tape, too," you answered near-breathlessly. "Yes. I'd love to spend more time with you, Ted." You smiled broadly. "You're really sweet, you know that?"
He went bright red in response.
And then ducked behind his bangs.
It took him a little while to speak, but you were patient.
" … thanks, dude. I'm really glad," he finally murmured. "I spent ages making that tape, but it wasn't until I was gonna give it to you that I realized that. Like. Just hanging out like this wasn't gonna be enough. At all."
Right now, the main emotion your brain was registering was giddiness.
"I'm really glad, too."
Do I wanna know?
Eddie Munson x Steve Harrington
Summary: Somewhere in the multiverse, there is a world where everyone has a choice - If you had the option of reading a list of everyone who's ever been in love with you, would you do it?
Word Count: 2.6K
Warnings: Modern day AU sort of?? It's not based in realism, just go with it. Best friends to lovers, Robin & Steve & Eddie all live together because I said so, mutual pining, fluff, confession of feelings, lots of denial but they figure it out eventually
A/N: This idea came to me during my stats class, and then it became very difficult to continue focusing on my stats class. (I wrote it as soon as we were dismissed lol). Enjoy this cute little Steddie one shot! Ao3 link here :)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
--------------------
“Dude, did you see what they just announced?” Steve asked as he played video games with Eddie.
“Yeah, it’s some wild shit,” Eddie replied. “How is it even possible?”
“I think it’s fake,” Robin called from the kitchen as she made them all pizza rolls.
“Not fake,” Steve insisted. “I was reading about it on the internet and a bunch of people are saying it’s legit.”
“Well, if you read it on the internet, it must be true,” Robin remarked sarcastically.
“Whatever,” Steve said. “I’m gonna get mine and find out.”
The deal was that, somehow, everyone had the option of getting a list of statistics about their lives. It was advertised with a variety of categories to look through - some of them could have been retrieved through bank statements and background checks, like the number of countries visited, money spent, etc. Other categories (let’s be real, the most intriguing categories), were far more mysterious.
Number of near-death experiences. Every book you’ve read, with a total word count. And, the most exciting of the bunch - How many people have been in love with you, and who.
“Don’t waste your money or your time,” Eddie said with a roll of his eyes. “It’s bullshit. Probably just another way for the government to squeeze more money out of us.”
“Come on, it’s not some conspiracy, Eds,” Steve replied. “I’m just curious, that's all.”
“Oh, I bet,” Robin chimed in. “Just be honest and admit you want to know about the love thing. You and your ego, Dingus.” Steve smiled. He couldn’t argue with her.
“As if you’re not also dying to read yours,” he countered.
“I’m pretty sure mine would just hurt my feelings,” Robin said with a sigh. “Robin Buckley - loved by her platonic soulmate Steve Harrington and Creepy Carl from band camp.” Eddie snickered.
“Carl wasn’t that creepy,” he said.
“You’re only saying that because you were also kind of creepy in high school,” she replied. “No offense.”
“None taken,” Eddie responded with a shrug. “But I think I speak for all former creeps when I say we were just socially stunted and awkward. Most of us grew up to be half-decent people.”
“Way to humble brag,” Steve teased.
“I’m bragging by saying I’m half-decent?” Eddie replied. Steve laughed and nodded. Meanwhile, Robin quickly scrolled through her phone until she stumbled across what she was looking for with a gasp.
“Oh my god,” she said. “Creepy Carl’s most recent post is about how the patriarchy is a myth.” Steve laughed again and pushed Eddie playfully. Eddie flopped over on the couch and groaned.
“Dammit, Carl, I was rooting for you!” he joked.
“We were all rooting for you, how dare you!” the three of them shouted in unison.
That was, of course, a reference to America’s Next Top Model, which Robin showed the boys clips of one night during a rant about the toxicity and absolute batshit nature of early 2000s reality TV. That quote, for whatever reason, stuck. They had a lot of inside jokes like that.
This is how life had been for the three of them the last few years. They’d become best friends straight out of high school, then all moved in together. Life was comfortable and nice.
-
Steve somehow convinced Robin that they would both get their lists together. Eddie, on the other hand, downright refused.
“I don’t need any of that shit,” he insisted. “It’s not gonna do me any good, and I’m perfectly fine staying in the dark.”
“Okay, I get it,” Steve said, holding his hands up. “You’re scared and lame, that’s totally okay.” Eddie rolled his eyes.
“Shut up, dickhead,” he replied. “This whole thing is stupid anyway. And - and it’s not like we can seriously trust whatever it says. It’s probably just…all lies, anyway.”
“Yeah, but they’re fun lies,” Robin countered. “It’s like hearing gossip about your own life.”
“Exactly!” Steve agreed. “It’s just for fun.”
“Have your fun, then,” Eddie said devilishly. “I’ll be in my room, not being an idiot.”
Robin and Steve put their names and date of birth into a search engine and, within five minutes, each had their respective documents in their inboxes. Steve opened his immediately and eagerly, skipping past all the boring shit until he found the good stuff.
Number of people who have had crushes on Steve Harrington: 436.
Number of people who have been in love with Steve Harrington: 85.
“Holy shit,” he muttered, looking at the long list of names. He looked up from his phone to see Robin staring at the wall. “Why aren’t you reading?”
“I don’t think I can do it,” she said. “I’m chickening out.” Steve scoffed.
“What? Robs, come on. You already ordered the damn thing.”
“Yeah, but -” She sighed. “But now it’s, like, real.”
“Do you want me to read yours for you?” he asked. She shook her head.
“No, I think I’m just going to keep it unread for now,” she decided. Steve shrugged.
“Okay, if that’s what you want.” Robin scooted herself over on the couch so she could look at Steve’s phone screen.
“Wait, they even have crushes on there?” she asked, her eyes wide. “Jeez, Harrington. That’s quite the list.” Steve smirked, realizing it very much did give him an ego boost. He continued scrolling to see even more categories.
Number of people Steve Harrington has had a crush on: 63.
Jesus, Steve thought to himself. That’s kind of embarrassing. In his defense, some of them were celebrities. He continued reading.
Number of people Steve Harrington has been in love with: 3.
Steve didn’t even have to read the list to know who was on it. He quickly clicked his phone off before Robin could see.
“Hey!” she said. “What was that for? It’s not like there are any secrets between us.”
“No, I just - I’ll read it later,” Steve said.
Robin would usually be right. She was almost completely right. It’s just that Steve had one secret. And it wasn’t even really a secret, it was just something he kept to himself, because it didn’t really matter.
Nancy Wheeler
Robin Buckley
Eddie Munson
He had barely admitted it to himself, honestly. It’s not like anything would happen. Him and Eddie were best friends, and if something was going to happen between them, it would have already happened. Now, they were too close, and living together. It was different. It didn’t matter. Besides, Robin was on his list, and he wasn’t running off to date her.
Steve put his phone away and didn’t check the list again for a couple days.
-
“So, how’s the list?” Eddie asked one morning as he made a pot of coffee. “You haven’t said anything about it.” Steve shrugged.
“It’s like a million pages long,” Robin chimed in. Eddie clicked his tongue against his teeth.
“That’s not surprising,” he said. “It’s a shame Harrington isn’t much of a reader. It might take him years to get through.” Steve glared at Eddie, who grinned in response.
“Are you ever going to stop poking fun at me about that?” he wondered.
“Aaaaabsolutely not,” Eddie replied. “Steve, The Hobbit is 310 pages. 310. Even one page a day you would have been done in a year, and you’re still not done.”
“Okay, listen,” Steve responded defensively. “It’s not my kind of book, alright?”
“He likes the ones with the pictures,” Robin teased. Eddie laughed and high-fived her.
“Wooow, okay,” Steve replied. “I see how it is. I’m just gonna grab my cereal and go, then.”
“Nooo, don’t leave on our behalf,” Eddie said.
“We’re soorrrryyyyyy,” Robin added. Steve chuckled and shook his head.
“Whatever,” he resigned. “I haven’t read the damn list. Not all of it, anyway.” Robin’s ears perked up.
“But you’ve read some of it, right?” she asked. “Spill!”
“Just the first ten names or so,” Steve said. He had gotten a glimpse when he skimmed over it the first time. “I think it’s in chronological order.”
“Anyone surprising?” Eddie wondered. Steve shook his head.
“No,” he said. “Although it did confirm my suspicion that Katie Crystal was into me, after all.”
“I’m thinking maybe I should read mine,” Robin said quietly.
“Yeah, well duh,” Eddie replied. “You paid for it.”
“It’s just - it’s not a big deal, right?” Steve looked at Eddie to survey his reaction. Eddie just shrugged. “It’s like you said, Eds. We don’t even know if it’s accurate.”
Steve didn’t really know if all of it was accurate, but some of it sure as shit was.
“Exactly,” Eddie agreed. “So, Steve, there’s a chance that Katie Crystal actually hated your guts. Who’s to say?”
Steve rolled his eyes. Another few days passed.
Robin flip-flopped between whether or not she wanted to read her list every few hours or so. Steve and Eddie placed their bets on how long it would take her to crack.
Meanwhile, Steve counted his lucky stars that Eddie decided not to buy his list. It was clear that they were bros and nothing more, so Eddie finding out would have made everything incredibly weird.
This was for the best.
-
Things carried on as they usually did, until one day Steve was so bored, he decided to revisit the godforsaken document. Plus, he’d been on a few dates that ended in disaster, and reading about the hundreds of people that were into him was bound to put him in good spirits.
He had no idea just how right he was.
The names were all relatively normal. Steve tended to know when girls had a thing for him, especially back in high school. There were some names he didn’t recognize, which meant that there were total strangers crushing on him. He wondered how that was even possible. Like, at that point, they were just basing it on looks and vibes alone.
Eh. Steve had crushes on people in the past over less. He kept reading.
He made his way down the list until he reached Eddie’s name. He read it again and again to make sure he was seeing it right.
Eddie had said repeatedly that this thing could be total bullshit, though. Steve had to take it all with a grain of salt. Besides, crushes meant nothing. Hell, Steve was pretty sure Eddie had mentioned once that he thought Steve was hot when they first became friends.
Steve made his way to the list of people who’d loved him. None of the names mattered except one.
Eddie Munson.
“Oh, shit,” Steve muttered. “Oh, shit!” He jumped up out of bed and paced the floor. He had no idea what to do with this information.
It could be bullshit. It could be nothing.
Or maybe, Eddie had kept saying it was bullshit because he knew what Steve would find.
“OH MY GOD.”
Robin came bursting into Steve’s room a few moments later.
“What? What’s going on?” she said. She looked to see his phone on the floor and his hands in his hair. “Oh my god, you read it! What was it? What’s got you all freaked out?”
“I gotta - uhh - I gotta -” He didn’t know how to finish that sentence with Robin in the room. He had to find Eddie - that’s what he had to do. But his head was spinning too much to do so.
“That’s it. I’m gonna read mine right now,” Robin decided. She swiftly left to go back to her room while Steve continued to pace.
“Holy shit,” he said to himself. He thought about it for a few minutes, scrawled something on a piece of paper, and then walked down the hall to Eddie’s room.
Eddie opened the door a few inches, still wearing his sweatpants. He hadn’t left his room yet that day, but his guitar was lying on his bed, which meant he’d been practicing.
“What’s up?” Eddie asked.
“I finished the list,” Steve replied. Eddie’s jaw clenched just enough for Steve to notice, and then he shrugged.
“And?” Steve continued to look at Eddie until he broke his composure. He sighed, then opened his door wider. “Come in,” he said.
Steve had been in Eddie’s bedroom a million times. They’d watched movies in there and stayed up all night talking and smoked together and dear sweet lord I am so dumb for never noticing.
“Is it bullshit?” Steve asked. Eddie started spinning the ring on his middle finger anxiously, refusing to make eye contact.
“Uhh, is what bullshit?” Eddie replied. Steve put his hands on his hips and cocked his head.
“Come on, you know what I’m talking about,” he said. “I just - is it bullshit? Tell me the truth.”
Eddie stared at him for a few long moments before gently shaking his head.
“It’s not bullshit.”
Steve’s hands fell back to his sides, and he felt himself get lightheaded.
“It’s -” he began, struggling to find the words. He cleared his throat. “Wow, I uh -”
“It doesn’t matter, though,” Eddie interjected. “Just so you know. I like what we have. We’re, ya know, we’re friends. Roommates.”
“Do you still -?” Steve started to ask. He noticed Eddie’s eyes flooded with fear, a sight he rarely saw. “I mean, do you still?”
“Steve, I -” Eddie began, his voice tired. “I really, uh. I don’t know what to say.”
Steve dug his hand into his pocket and pulled out the piece of paper he’d ripped from his notebook. He held it out for Eddie to take, and when Eddie didn’t reach for it, Steve stepped closer and stuffed the page right into Eddie’s hand.
“Read it,” Steve encouraged.
“What is it?”
“It’s your list.” Eddie’s faced scrunched with confusion. “Yeah, I made it myself.”
“I told you, I don’t wanna know,” he said, trying to give the paper back to Steve.
“Trust me, you do.”
Eddie sighed, then unfolded the paper and read it.
People who are in love with Eddie Munson:
-Me
-(Steve Harrington)
Steve waited and watched Eddie’s eyes travel up and down the page, similar to the way Steve’s had when he read Eddie’s name on his own list. Finally, Eddie looked up.
“Really?” he asked, his voice soft. Steve smiled and nodded.
“Really.”
In that moment, they both knew this changed everything, and yet it changed nothing at all. They’d just skipped a bunch of steps of dating - blown past the getting-to-know-you stage straight into living together and doing all the domestic shit.
Eddie and Steve each stepped toward the other until their hands met.
“OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!!!”
Robin’s voice pierced through their intimate moment and completely obliterated it. The boys glanced at each other in confusion and then ran out to see what Robin was yelling about.
She was already out the front door by the time they got to the kitchen. If this were a cartoon, she would have left behind a cloud of smoke.
“What do you think that’s about?” Steve asked. Eddie felt his phone buzz and checked it to find Robin had texted a screenshot to the household group chat. He smirked.
“Vicki’s on her list,” Eddie said. Steve chuckled, happy that everyone managed to find their happy ending.
“You know what that means?” Steve asked.
“That you owe me 20 bucks?” Eddie teased.
“Well, that," Steve replied. "But is also means we’re alone in the apartment for a while." Eddie grinned and took Steve by the hand.
“I like the way you think.”
They ran to Steve’s room together, and if the confession of love hadn’t already changed everything, sleeping together certainly did.
It was the good kind of change, though. The kind that moved mountains and cleared all the clouds from the sky.
At last, the idiots were together. All it took was years of denial and one payment of $44.49.
Find myself at your door Just like all those times before I'm not sure how I got there All roads, they lead me here
When you opened the door, you didn't expect that instead of finding the pizza delivery guy, you would find Billy Russo... or rather, what was left of him.
The hood over his head and his slightly lowered head were unable to hide the scars on his face. You notice that over time they have become... less visible... at least not as angry red as they were in the media after they published the fugitive's photo.
Yeah. You saw the news. (And talked to Maria.) You know what happened.
Maybe you didn't want to deal with a man who had broken your heart many times over the years, but you couldn't just pretend he didn't exist.
His face, his name, even that stupid nickname, Jigsaw, were everywhere. In the newspapers, on TV, on the internet, in your old photo albums and even in your fucking dreams. And now he was standing in front of you. The shell that remains of a one and only Billy Russo.
"May I... may I come in?" he whispered, staring at you uncertainly. You promised yourself that you would slam the door on that scarred face when he came to you... but in your toughts he was more... arrogant... just like he used to be.
"I... I'm not sure." the words come out of you as you look at him, trying to recover from the shock. You thought seeing him in person wouldn't do anything to you. How stupid you were...
"Please... I just want to talk to you. Give me five minutes and then you can sand me back to hell."
You bite your lip. You saw on the news that the Punisher and Jigsaw had teamed up... if Frank could forgive him enough to work with him and let him near Maria and the kids, you could give him that five damn minutes, before you try to kick his ass.
"Only five minutes, Russo." you say as you let him in.
Closing the door behind him, you wonder how far you've fallen by letting him back into your home… but from the way he looks around your place hesitantly, avoiding looking at you, you wonder who's really lost their dignity here.
I imagine you are home In your room, all alone And you open your eyes into mine And everything feels better
"You... you look beautiful." he says as he finally looks at you for the first time since your… rather tumultuous breakup.
"You wanted to talk." you say, crossing your arms as you lean against the dresser and stare intently at the man sitting on your couch.
"I… wanted to come to you after… all this shit. I… I could have lost my fucking memories somehow, but I think you've embedded yourself in my brain more than anything else. I went to your apartment, but you moved away." he admits, avoiding your heavy gaze to stare at the coffee table. You see a sad smile on his face as he stares at the pile of books and papers that were almost always present in any available space in your apartment. Some things don't change.
"I did." you say, closing some of your patient files from him so he can't analyse where exactly you work after you quit your job at Anvil as their private doctor. You collect papers and put them on your desk, turning your back to him. "Some people would get the hint. Did Frank throw out what was left of your brain by smashing your head against a mirror?"
You know it's a low move on your part, but you can't resist making him suffer. And by the way you suddenly feel his warm body behind you, you know that turning your back on your former marine and murderous ex wasn't such a smart idea. You swallow and turn around, crossing your arms to stare defiantly at him.
He is angry. You see it in his eyes. For some strange reason, instead of throwing you against the wall, he decides to close his eyes and take a few calming breaths.
And the part of you that still cares about him reminds you that he never laid a finger on you. Screaming, shouting, verbal threats were options. However, he never lost his temper enough to actually try to hurt you... but maybe you should stop testing your luck after all?
"Well... I... I think he finally put something into my empty head." you shift your puzzled gaze to him. You thought Frankie and Billy would go back to fighting like vicious dogs, trying to kill each other. Apparently, things have changed more than you originally expected.
"And here I thought that no one would be able to get through your thick skull."
"I'm going to therapy." he blurts out. You frown. Well, this wasn't at all what you expected when you saw Billy again. "To… sort it all out." he says, not breaking eye contact with you.
"Well… good for you. But I assume you didn't come here just to brag about it."
Billy shakes his head and takes a step towards you, watching your reaction. You tense up, but then relax as your body subconsciously takes in the scent of his perfume, which after all reminds you of (ironically) safety.
"No. I don't. I... I'm here to ask you if..."
"Stop it. Whatever you are about to ask me, my answer is no. I don't want to have anything to do with you." you interrupt him before he makes any suggestions for you to consider. "Not after what you did to me, to Frankie, to Castles. I'm glad you're on the mend, but I don't want to know you, Russo."
"Y/N, please..." he sighs pleadingly and reaches up to cup your cheek. You grab his hand before you can feel his fingers on you in a tender gesture that so often melted your heart for him.
"DON'T... just leave. Do one damn thing for someone else's sake and just leave. Let me be as I was." you say, glaring at him and internally cursing yourself for the tremble in your voice.
Somehow you win this battle of hurt glances because the next thing you hear in the room after his heavy breathing is the door slamming as he leaves. You are left alone. You're shaking with the emotions that are flowing through you now. You put your hand to your mouth and cried quietly.
Billy fucking Russo always had to come and mess up your life like a damn master.
And right before your eyes I'm breaking, no past No reasons why Just you and me
You come back from your shift at the hospital to find Frankie sitting outside your apartment door.
"One more such trip to the past, and I swear I will take a dog from the shelter and threaten you with it. What do you want, Frank?" you ask, crossing your arms and glaring at the Punisher.
"Nice to see you too, Doc. Have you finally learned how to sew people up, or are you still torturing them?" he asks with a mischievous smile, standing up and walking over to you.
"It was only once in Afghanistan, and in my defence, you were squirming like a dog in a nettle. Besides, it's not my fault you fell on knives because you stumbled like an idiot after the action was over."
The man laughs and pulls you into a hug. "It's been too long. Too bad you fucking ran away from Russo all the way here, I hate coming back to this town. By the way, Maria and kids missed you too."
"I spoke to them just yesterday on Skype. Besides, somehow this distance doesn't stop you from harassing me. And not only you. Billy was here two weeks ago." you say, leading him into your apartment. You give him a stern look as he walk inside. He rolls his eyes at me but bends down and takes off his shoes before walking further in.
"I thought so. He's been looking like shit for two weeks. I'm sure he now consists of 70 percent alcohol. Lisa wondered if his corpse on the couch was starting to decompose enough for Maria to let her perform an autopsy on him." you smile at the mention of your goddaughter. That's your little girl.
"If you tell me you're here to stand up for him, I'll kick you out of my apartment. The idea of letting him be part of your family again after all this shit he has done is sick. You're a fucked-up man, Frankie."
"Y/N, it's not what it looks like."
"Frank damn it, he almost helped kill your family! If I hadn't let Maria talk me into going with you that damn morning to the Central Park and forgave him after seeing those fucking eyes of a broken puppy, he probably wouldn't have lifted a finger to save Maria, kids and you!"
"I thought so too, so I shattered up his face, and we did a lot of shitty, sick things to each other, but believe me, it's not that simple. This fucking mess around us... is partly his fault, but not in the way we first assumed. He's still my brother… he's still our Bill."
You sigh, running a hand through your hair. You were fed up with it all. All this drama that's going on around Russo. Sometimes I wonder if it wouldn't have been better if they'd never called you in to stitch up that damn Marine and you'd never met him...
"I don't care, Frank. He hurt you. For money. He can go and keep selling himself like a whore." you say bitterly and walk past the man standing in the middle of your living room. You go to the bar and pour yourself a glass of something stronger.
"You can't be serious."
"I fucking am, Castle." you reply dispassionately, drinking the alcohol in a gulp. You pour yourself another glass and sit on the couch, watching the conflicted man in front of you.
"Come on. It's you and Billy. You always came back to each other. After every shit, big fight and breakup. Like a damn Ross and Rachel."
"For the last time I'm telling you, stop fucking watching Friends with Lisa and Maria, it's our show. Besides, this isn't damn Friends or any soap opera, Frankie. Billy fucked up. Ultimately. Nothing will change that, so just fuck off or accept it. God! You're taking our breakup worse than that cold bastard." you laugh bitterly and finish your glass. You set it down on the coffee table with a bang and run a hand through your hair. No. You won't get drunk again because of that damn asshole.
"Bullshit. He's a mess… I've never seen him like this."
"Do I look like I care?" you ask him, raising an eyebrow defiantly.
"You fucking liar, you couldn't stop loving him overnights."
You don't answer right away. He was right. You couldn't stop loving someone who was so deeply embedded in your soul, who saw all of you and became a part of your heart so easily... but loving Billy hurt you more than staying away from him. And for once in your life, you just want to feel at peace and be somewhat happy. Even without Bill by your side.
"If you want something, you better fucking say it or get the hell out." you say, not looking at him as your attention is drawn to your hands instead of the man standing in front of you.
He sighs, tightening his grip on the chair. You see his white knuckles, and for a moment, you think he's going to break the back of the chair. He sighs suddenly and relaxes his muscles, staring at you with a less angry look.
"I need your help."
This is the last time I'm asking you this Put my name at the top of your list This is the last time I'm asking you why You break my heart in the blink of an eye (Eye, eye)
You imagined your reunion with everyone a little worse. Maria and the kids were in a safe house outside the city, but it was nice to meet the rest of your old friends (in the case of the murder of the last of Rawllins' men, but hey, people talk about different things, right?) And it was really nice... until Billy returned to the apartment.
As soon as his dark-brown irises met yours, an unpleasant, awkward silence fell in the living room. You felt not only his gaze but also the curious gazes of the others as they glanced between the two of you.
"What the hell is she doing here?" he asks, shooting an angry, betrayed look at Frankie.
"Don't worry. I'll be gone as soon as I make sure the Castles are out of any danger. I don't really feel like seeing your face too." you say, giving him a defiant look. You turn your head away from him and towards Micro as quickly as you can.
Billy had dark circles under his eyes, a paler face than usual, and obvious signs of sleep deprivation. You'd care if he was more than just a piece of trash who betrayed people close to him. Yet you still cared.
However, the man does not give up easily. He walks over to you, stands in front of you, and takes your chin in his hand to make you look at him. If you didn't know better, you'd think you saw pain in that son of a bitch's eyes.
"You don't have to look at me from the hiding place where we put Maria and the kids, so get your pretty ass out of here and don't cause us any more troubles than we already have."
"How dare you talk about them after what you did?!" you growl at him in anger, pushing his hand away and standing up to face him. "All the trouble we're having is because you're a selling-out motherfucker who betrayed the only people in this world who fucking cared about you!"
Billy clenches his fists and takes a step towards you, leaning towards you. You both breathe quickly, shooting each other hostile glances, waiting to see who will break away and attack first. The tension in the room is so great that you can almost feel sparks flying between you. Frank quickly steps between the two of you, gives Billy a stern look and turns to face you.
"Save the lovers' quarrel and make-up sex for later, okay? Billy, Y/N is coming with us. Y/N, you're not trying to kill Billy until we do what we have to do, and it's best not to argue with him at all. Same with you, Bill. Can you do it, or are you resentful young brats who will be at each other's throats after a breakup?" he says, looking between you two. You huff, crossing your arms and staring at Castle.
"And since when did you become such a responsible asshole, Frankie?" you ask mockingly, raising an eyebrow in question.
"Since we've been planning a glorious murder at those, who tried to kill my family." you sigh and nod. He is right. Killing these bastards is your priority. You can't let your feelings for that asshole who still manages to get under your skin somehow complicate your already difficult mission.
"Fine. Just keep him away from me." you growl in anger and walk past Billy, elbowing him as you go to get ready for your 'mission' with the boys.
And if you looked over your shoulder, you would see a dark brown irises staring longingly at your retreat towards the armoury silhouette.
You find yourself at my door And just like all those times before You wear your best apology But I was there to watch you leave And all the times I let you in Just for you to go again Disappear when you come back Everything is better
A ring at your door at 2 a.m. should make you suspicious.
You should pretend to sleep and finish studying for the last exam that separates you from your desired diploma. You promised yourself that after completing your specialisation, you would leave the army and move to a state hospital. You were fed up with gunshots all around you. For now, you were well on your way to shedding your soldier's uniform and permanently donning a doctor's coat.
You were one exam away from your dreams... and one Billy goddamn Russo who was standing outside your door.
Before you could close it in his face, the man stuck his shoe between the door and the frame. You curse under your breath and open them again to meet this hot damn asshole on your doorstep.
"You shouldn't open the door at this hour without checking who's behind it." he starts, resting his hand on the door as if to make sure you won't shut it in his face again. Only now do you notice his bag slung over his shoulder. He must have come here straight from the airport as soon as he landed.
"A lesson for the future. What do you want?" you ask dryly, crossing your arms. He looks at you tiredly and sighs. The hand that isn't holding the door is combing through his hair. Dog tags hang from his neck as he bows his head slightly before looking back into your eyes.
"Please... I just want to talk." he pleads, wearing his best apologetic, kicked puppy look.
"We have nothing to talk about. Can you let go of my door now? I have an important exam tomorrow; I need to get some sleep." he smiles slightly. Reluctantly, you feel your chest warm up at that damn cute smile.
"Knowing you, honey, you probably weren't even going to go to sleep, just keep revising the material."
"What are you doing here? There were no more sheets of paper in Afghanistan? The poor postman used to come here with a bag full of letters from you. I felt bad sending them back just because of him."
"So… you haven't read any?" he asks, swallowing and staring at you with those damn eyes you would kill for someday.
"Why? I broke up with you before I left the unit. I was just your sexy doctor, right? Or maybe I'm distorting your words? I'm almost sure that's what you called me while bragging to your colleagues in the unit that you fucked the coldest and most unapproachable bitch from the base."
"These same colleagues saw me rage and fall apart as I was getting my letters back from you. I was the one of us, who was there to watch you leave." he responds to your accusations, and the pain in his eyes almost convinces you to throw yourself into his arms. But luckily, you remember the nights you spent crying because of the asshole in front of you.
"And I was the one who overheard that everything between us was some kind of fucking adventure for the time being until you get to another woman." you growl angrily, trying to slam the door on him, but his hand on it prevents you from doing so. He pushes himself inside your apartment and pins you to the wall, closing the door behind him with a loud bang. Loud enough to have your neighbours hear that.
"It's not true… what was between us… it was the only real thing I ever had in my damn life." he says with a shaky voice and you see tears forming in his eyes. "Neither of us expected what was between us to turn into something more than a few-month fling, but here I am, flitting around without you like a moth searching for the fucking light after spending years in the darkness, which was my life without you. I care about you. More than anything. More than I want to admit, more than I would like. That damn much that I would travel halfway around the world for you, I will grovel at your feet just to be fucking close to you."
You let your tears flow freely as you listened to his confession. You know what the man in front of you has been through—what demons of his past pursued him at every turn. And maybe it's his words; maybe it's those damn, tearful eyes that allowed you to see his vulnerability, hidden for so many years; or maybe you just can't live without him either...
Anyway, you grab his dog tags and pull him towards you for a passionate, tearful kiss as both of you realise one terryfing truth... You need each other.
"This is the last time, Russo." you whisper against his lips as he guides you towards your bedroom, stripping you of your clothes.
And right before your eyes I'm aching, run fast Nowhere to hide Just you and me
"What the fuck are you thinking you are doing?" you ask him angrily as he drags you by your elbow away from the shooting.
Things have gone a bit south. Frank didn't anticipate how much support the group we were supposed to kill would get, and now they cut off your group, and now you were forced to work with Billy to get out of here and kill the people you had to. A very mad Billy Russo in his stupid mask.
"I'm saving your ass. Stay here. I'll take care of the rest." he says, letting go of your elbow as he looks around the room.
"There's no fucking option. You won't play my hero, Russo." you say, and reload your gun.
"You won't distract me. You're staying here. End of discussion." he walks up to you and tries to grab the gun out of your hand. You struggle with him and use the grip he taught you to push him away. After a while, you aim your gun at him. You see a hint of fear in his eyes. You shoot, killing the guy standing in the doorway behind him.
"I'm not you. I don't kill my people." you growl at him in anger and move past him to drag the dead man inside and close the door. Billy is grateful for his mask... at least you can't see his shocked, pained expression.
He pulls up a chair and starts rummaging through the flap of the ventilation duct. During this time, you take the gun and bullets from the corpse.
"I would never kill the Castles." he says, not looking at you as he continues to open the vent. "They are my family... just like you."
"You haven't been my family for a long time." you snort at his seemingly tender words. You shiver when he suddenly jumps from the chair and pins you to the wall. Even from behind his mask, you can see how hurt and furious he is.
He holds your arms tightly, almost in a bruising embrace, as he whispers from under his mask so quietly that you can barely hear his words and his voice shaking with emotion.
"Everything... I've ever done... I've done for you. For us."
"There are no us, Russo." You growl in anger and push his arms off of you. You go to the air vent, but he grabs you by the waist and pulls you towards him. You fight him, even going so far as to rip off his mask, but he still holds you in a tight hug, staring into your eyes.
"I fucking love you; do you understand?! With my entire pathetic existence. I know that now you only see me as a monster and that my face is disgusting, but I can't... I can't lose you. Not you. I can endure everything—insults, your hatred... just... please... please don't leave me." he whispers desperately, cupping your cheek in one hand and resting his forehead against yours. You close your eyes, feeling tears welling up in them. You can't count how many times you cried because of that bastard in front of you.
"You think I care about your scars? I don't give a damn about them. What's keeping me away from you is your ugly inside, Russo. You don't care about anyone suffering as long as you profit from it. I'm disgusted by your personality and by the fact that you were willing to sell out your best friend's family and all the people who cared about you for goddamn money and fame. And I hate you, because somehow, even after all you've done, I still care about your damn ass."
His thumb strokes your cheek tenderly as you let him kiss the tears off your face as you almost fell apart in his hands, which you've missed for so long.
“Y/N, my heart, I swear I would never, ever hurt them. You have to believe me. I wouldn't risk what we have… I wouldn't risk losing you after having no one to care about for my whole messed-up life.”
And you're inclined to believe him. You are willing to forget everything and just accept him back. But then you hear a faint beeping sound. You both freeze, staring at each other.
Billy works fast. Too fast for you. He pushes you into the vent and closes the hatch behind you before you can do anything. After a moment, a quiet explosion echoes from the room below you, masking your frantic scream of his name.
This is the last time I'm asking you this Put my name at the top of your list This is the last time I'm asking you why You break my heart in the blink of an eye (Eye, eye)
Billy was not a good man. He knew it. He had no reason. Life never spoiled him, and everything he worked for he had to tear out with his nails. He had no reason to be good. But what he was about to allow now would seal who he was forever. There would be no turning back. And he knew it the moment he joined Castles in the Central Park.
He actually had nothing to lose. Y/N left him, and it would only be a matter of time before Frank would turn on him. He would be alone again. At least he would have guaranteed his future... however empty it might be. But he always believed that it was better to be depressed in an expensive sports car than anywhere else.
At least that's what he thought until he saw Y/N again, for the first time since their next big (this time final, which he deeply believed) breakup. And God, she was beautiful. More beautiful than ever.
She was wearing that little black floral dress that he loved, and she was joking about something with little Lisa as she dragged her through Central Park and the stands. Little Castle led her towards him.
Quiet: "Don't fuck it up, Uncle Bill." came from Frank Jr.'s mouth, before the kid disappeared, likely going to his father, who was probably already watching him. A young boy had to stop using such words. Maria would have his and Frank's heads for it.
Billy's eyes met yours. He gulped, watching as you walked up to him, and Lisa disappeared, probably going to the hideout where her parents were, watching him and Y/N. He clears his throat as you stand in front of him and gives you one of his practiced smirks... though he doubts he's acting as confident as he should be.
"Hi." he says quietly, staring at your face. His stupid heart beats like crazy as he completely forgot everything that wasn't you.
"Hi." you reply, playing with one of the rings on your finger—a nervous habit that he has despised since he felt the need to put HIS ring on you that you can play with and twirl on your finger when you feel insecure. "It was a long time."
"Indeed." he agrees and puts his hands in his pockets, trying to appear nonchalant. "You look beautiful, how are you?" he asks, as if he didn't have people positioned around you, to keep you safe and out of his troubles... the daily update about your life was the only thing that kept him from losing his mind after... losing you.
"All right. I got this job at the hospital." he knows. He himself made a transfer to the account of the hospital's head so that he would employ you there. Still, a smile appears on his face at the excitement in your eyes.
"I told you it was only a matter of time. You are the best surgeon in the USA."
"Well, I doubt Frank would agree with that." you laugh, and he can't help but join you. Frank was your test subject. A very grumpy test subject. Billy could never complain about being a little too strict or stitching it up too quickly at your beginnings. You were just perfect in his eyes.
"Don't listen to him, he is just a brat." he says, nudging your shoulder gently with his. And suddenly, you both stare at each other. You both linger on the other's lips for a moment longer.
"I missed you, Bill." you admit and his heart starts beating wildly.
He swallowed. No. He can't drag you into his shit. You would be better off without him... but as you stood in front of him, looking at him with those beautiful eyes of yours that he would do anything for, he knew he had lost. And much sooner than he realised it.
He pulls you into his embrace. And when you wrap your arms around him, when you snuggle into his chest, and he inhales your scent, burying his nose in your hair, he knows he's home. He knows that he wants to feel this way forever and that life without you simply makes no sense to him anymore. And if he were anyone else, if he hadn't gone through all this shit in his life, he would have cried right there.
Instead, he pulls you closer to his chest, almost digging his fingers into your back, and whispers softly, his eyes closed tightly:
"This is the last time, I won't hurt you anymore." he kisses your head, sealing his promise. He will burn the world for you. And nothing will stop him.
And as you sit next to him on the bench, across from the Castles, who are teasing you about how you two can't live without each other, he just smiles and texts his people to call off the action. Unbeknownst to you all, he declares war on Rollins, writing to him: "No one hurts my family. That's the end of the deal."
This is the last time you tell me I've got it wrong This is the last time I say it's been you all along This is the last time I let you in my door This is the last time, I won't hurt you anymore Oh-ho, oh-ho, oh-ho, oh-ho Oh-ho, oh-ho, oh-ho, oh-ho
You've been holding his hand since you returned to the Castles' house after his doctors examined him and patched him up. They didn't let you get to him. Something about an emotional attachment would cloud your judgement as a doctor. Stupid bullshit, but there was nothing you could do against Frank's strong grip as he held you in the hallway until you were allowed to carry him home. You're sure Castle had scratches from your nails when you tried to get away to go to Billy.
You shiver when Frank suddenly enters the room and hands you cup of tea. You take it from him without a word with one hand, and with the other, you still hold Billy, waiting for him to wake up. Frank snorts and sits down in the chair next to you, watching you closely.
"He'll get through this. Fortunately, he didn't set himself on fire, he just crashed into the opposite wall." you shiver, ignoring his words as you sip your tea. "Although I doubt he'll have any luck next time if you dump him again. Who knows what he'll do next time just for you to hold his hand."
"What the hell are you talking about?" you ask angrily, shifting your outraged gaze to him. He just shrugs.
"Do you think he let me give him those scars just like that? This is some form of his twisted compensation or punishment. The fact that he was hoping you would magically come get him and patch him up only encouraged him more to stay still as I smashed his face."
"You're fucked up. Both of you. No normal people would come back to being friends after something like that."
"We're all fucked up. Me, because I still see him as a brother. He, because he still wants to be part of my family. And you, who love him despite everything, but leave him at every possible opportunity." you turn your gaze away from him to Billy. He is right. And that hurts the most.
"Every time I promise myself it will be the last time. That I will never go back to him. That this is the last time he breaks my heart without even blinking. One last time I let him back into my life, but I… I just can't, Frankie… I can't leave him, no matter how much he destroys me."
"He thinks he's not worthy of you. That you deserve better." you huff bitterly, shaking your head, trying to fight away the tears.
"There is nothing for me apart from him." you whisper, staring blankly at your linked hands with Billy's. "Not after everything I've been through with him."
"Then stick with it. It's better to be fucked up together." you are laughing. It's not that simple, it never was… or maybe it was you who didn't want to make it such a simple thing.
"You should go to Maria and the kids." you say, wanting to get rid of him. You don't know what you feel. All you know is that you won't leave this room until those dark brown irises look back at you again.
"Will you stay with him?" he asks, and from the heavy atmosphere in the room, you feel like this question means more. He asks if you will stay forever. You lift your hand and gently run through Billy's short hair, observing what happened to him after the two of you were apart... and in fact, you weren't holding up any better than he was.
"Yes... yes I will." you whisper, never taking your eyes off his face. And you feel like something heavy has fallen off your chest. Months of crying, anxiety and apathy passed with the snap of a finger.
"I want to be godfather to your first. And for him to have Frankie as his second name if it's a boy."
"Fuck you, Castle." you say and throw a spare pillow at him. The man laughs as he leaves. He closes the door behind him and you look at the unconscious Billy.
"This is the last time, Russo. I mean that. Don't fuck it up." you whisper and kiss your joined hands.
This is the last time I'm asking you this Put my name at the top of your list This is the last time I'm asking you why You break my heart in the blink of an eye This is the last time I'm asking you this (This is the last time I'm asking you this) Put my name at the top of your list (Put my name at the top of your list) This is the last time I'm asking you why (This is the last time I'm asking you why) You break my heart in the blink of an eye (You break my heart) This is the last time I'm asking you, last time I'm asking you Last time I'm asking you this This is the last time I'm asking you, last time I'm asking you Last time I'm asking you this
The gentle brushing of your hair is the first thing you feel when you wake up. Another is his tight grip on your hands, as if he's afraid you're just a product of his head high on painkillers. You raise your head slowly. His hand slips from your hair and rests hesitantly on your cheek.
"Hello." he whispers, staring at you. And for a moment, you just stay like that, each drinking in the sight of the other.
And your heart breaks when you see him waiting for the moment when you start screaming at him, when you take away the closeness he missed so much.
So against your better judgement and what you should do, you lean in and kiss him sweetly, cupping his cheek in your hand. You caress one of his worst scars with the pad of your thumb as he responds to your kiss. His hands stay stiffly in place as he's afraid to move, lest he disturb this moment between you, to feel your lips as long as possible.
You pull away from him and rest your forehead against his. You close your eyes, catching your breath. You feel his burning, confused gaze on you, but you don't move. You don't say anything. You just sit there, enjoying his touch and his closeness, not thinking about the conversation you need to have.
"I missed… I missed this." he whispers shakily. You feel him burning with the desire to taste your lips one more time, but he maintains some semblance of control and settles for just moving the hand that isn't cupping your cheek to your waist.
"Me too."
"I know I screwed up. But… I will never… never again…" you kiss him again, interrupting him. You brush away the tears that fall down his cheek with your thumbs and gently brush your nose against his as you end your kiss.
"Shhh... I know." you whisper, straddling him, needing to feel him as close to you as possible after everything that happened. You were both shattered, but maybe you could put each other back together?
"Are you sure?" he asks, swallowing. You nod and bury your face in the crook of his neck, breathing in his scent. He strokes your back slowly, drawing patterns with his fingertips under your blouse. You shiver at the feeling of his touch on your skin.
"This is the last time, Russo. Either we succeed or... it's over. And I mean it. There will be no great quarrels and returns, no appearances on the doorstep of the other at midnight. We'll either be honest with each other... and make it work... or we won't be together at all. You understand? We're at the top of each other's lists, or not at all. I don't want anything less, any toxic love, any blaming each other, and all that bullshit. We take each other and try to do something with us, or we end it."
He nods and pulls you closer to him, digging his fingers into your back, anchoring you to his chest.
"Deal. I hope you know, you just stuck with me forever, because I'm not leaving you." you lift yourself gently from his chest to look at him. Your eyes water as your eyes meet and for the first time in a long time, you allow yourself to fully express your feelings to him.
"Just... don't make me ask you this again... don't hurt me. Please."
Billy pulls you into a tender kiss, showing you all the love and devotion he has for you. Trying with your actions to ensure that this time will be different, that you will never suffer because of him again, that you will never run away from each other again, that you will never watch the other one leave again.
"I'm nothing without you. Trust me. I tried to live without you and look how it ended." he jokes, and in any other situation you wouldn't find it funny, but now, fueled by the high of being with him again, you giggle stupidly into his neck. Billy smiles fondly and strokes your hair, pressing a kiss to your forehead.
"Break my heart again, and it will end worse for you. I have connections in the mortuary, Russo." he huffs, undeterred, and pulls you closer.
"Please. As if you didn't fly across two states just to stitch my face together because you didn't believe in the competence of the doctors at the hospital." you blush as you realizes that he knew about your moment of weakness after you found out what happened to him after his fight with Frank.
"How did you know?"
"I'd know your stitches anywhere." he says with a shrug and pulls you in for a kiss.
Maybe this really was the last time after all… and this time you will stitch the scattered pieces of both of you together for good.
Complicated
Eddie's Version. Part two 💕💕
Will be breaking this up into two parts, purely because I love the drama and wanna make Eddie suffer a lil bit ;)
Warnings: Angst, Eddie is painfully slow at realising his feelings. Wayne makes an appearance. Jealousy.
❤️
Eddie felt like an idiot. He couldnt believe the stupid shit he said to you. Him and Chrissy had gotten into another fight because he's been so fucking pissed off.
Pissed off at himself for what he said to you.
He doesn't understand what's wrong with him? Ever since he saw you with Steve, picturing you sleeping with him it's like there's some fucking monster inside of him.
"What does it matter to you who she sleeps with Eddie?" Chrissy had asked him after he had told her about your fight.
There was no answer he could come up with, Dustin told him point blank that he was a total douchebag.
"Dude, you do realise that you sound jealous right?" the little butthead told him like it was so obvious.
There was no way he was jealous. He was with Chrissy. He proclaimed that he wasn't and Dustin just rolled his eyes and shook his head.
"Eddie, Steve told me what happened. It's like you've deemed him a threat because he's been with yn and you hate it"
Once again Eddie had no reply for that and decided to throw himself into apologising to you.
The next day he's at your door, nervous and kicking himself for being a douchebag. What if you didn't forgive him? You had evert right to tell him to fuck off.
Eddie hated the thought of you not being in his life, he adored you and needed to show you how much you meant to him.
You were beautiful to him, he hated that he made you feel so low, what the hell was he thinking? (He wasn't that was the point)
You open the door and look like you want to slam it in his face.
"I'm sorry, I'm so fucking sorry. I was a dickhead and I understand if you don't want to talk to me but I just had to tell you that"
The anger subsides from your features and you soften just a fraction.
"What you said really hurt" he swallows and you let him inside.
"I don't have any excuse princess. Just that I'm so very sorry, you're beautiful, the sweetest person I've ever met and I hate myself for hurting you"
He's barely slept and he's so tired but he had to see you.
"Just no more stupid shit Eddie please. I'm confused enough about this stuff with Steve as it is" he ignores the twinge in his chest at this.
"Do you like him?" he asks quietly and you sigh.
"He's my friend Eddie, hes a great guy. There's this spark between us but it's just physical because he still loves Nancy and I love... You freeze and trail off.
"You're in love with someone?" It's like his stomach bottoms out as he hears this and he fights to keep his tone casual.
"It doesn't matter. He doesn't feel the same way" You blurt out and frowns.
"Well then he's an idiot" he tells you gently and you look away flustered, the tension in the room ratcheting up.
"I'm making pizza. Wanna join me?" you ask and he jumps at the offer. Anything to get away from these thoughts racing through his mind.
❤️
You wish you hadn't come to this stupid party, Eddie was still acting a little weird and you had no idea what was going on in his head. Things were better than they were but still nowhere near what you two were usually like.
Yeah he had apologised profusely for what he said but what the hell was his deal with Steve in the first place? You were not here for it and wouldn't hesitate in calling him out.
Speaking of Steve you wish he was here. At least you would have someone to talk to, Chrissy had Eddie attached to her and you could barely get near him.
When you did see him for a few seconds here and there conversation was stilted.
To your delight Steve and Robin do show up to the party and that helps you relax.
"Who the fuck thought having a party in the woods was a good idea? After all the shit thats happened here?" Steve asks unamused.
You grin agreeing with him and hand out beers for him and Robin.
The sparks between you two were still there but he was right, he was still hung up on Nancy and you were hung up on Eddie.
If it happened again then it was strictly physical and nothing more.
Eddie meets your gaze and downs his drink, his eyes trailing over to Steve then you, he grabs another beer and stalks off and you groan.
What was his problem now? You attempt to follow him and get about half way there when you see Chrissy already by his side and tucked under his arm.
It feels like you've been sucker punched in the gut and you turn away. Unfortunately, Jason Carver is right beside you.
Fuck, you should have went home when you had the chance. He's drunk as hell and way too close to you for comfort.
"God it makes me sick watching Chrissy with that freak" He's unsteady on his feet and you cringe as you smell the alcohol on his breath.
"Don't call him that" you snap at him in no mood for his pity party and him being a shit about Eddie.
"Don't know why you aren't more upset though. Aren't you like in love with Munson or something?" this stops you in your tracks and you stare at Jason. How does he know that?
"I don't... I'm not" Jason cuts off your response and snorts.
"Babe come on? It's obvious. He's hardly going to look your way when he has Chrissy is he?" the way he says this so casually and cruel, it hurts like a bitch.
"Gee thanks" he misses your sarcastic tone and moves closer to you. He's so close you can barely move away. What the fuck?
"Hey, maybe we should hook up. That would show them" You gape at him and move away.
"No fucking way" your reaction causes you to sneer at him and he snorts at you.
"Whatever, doesn't stop the fact that you're never going to be Munson's type and you know it"
Jason walks away but the words linger in your mind, you hurry away having enough of this party.
Steve is at your side straight away, he notices your tears and nods over to Robin.
"What's wrong?" you shake your head and wipe the tears away.
"Nothing, just Jason being a dick" Robin joins you and Steve.
"Yeah, I'm thinking a movie night sounds good about now don't you?" she suggests and you nod in relief.
"Sounds perfect"
Before you leave Eddie jogs up to you looking concerned.
"What's wrong? You're leaving already?" he stiffens as he notices your tears and gently wipes them away. The gesture is sweet and it makes your skin tingle.
"Fine, I'm fine. Just Jason being his usual self. Gonna call it a night" he looks disappointed but nods.
"Kay, I'll come see you tomorrow?" you nod and walk, away, chancing a look back at Eddie who watching you go.
💕
Eddie finds himself driving to your house after the party, he doesn't know if your parents are home so he decided to do his usual routine of greeting you at your bedroom window.
It takes a minute for him to climb up onto the roof. He's about to knock when he hears you giggle and moan.
"Steve"
His blood runs cold and he scrambles away from your window. He nearly falls on his ass as he gets down and ends up kicking over your trashcan.
"Shit" he swears and makes attempts to make a hasty exit but you must have heard him because a minute later your at the door.
"Eddie?" you stand at the doorway in a hastily thrown on robe and his stomach sinks at the sight.
💕
"Are you okay? After earlier?" you ask him concerned and motion him to come in.
He does, his eyes linger on Steve's jacket and his jaw tightens.
"Steve's here" he comments and you can't figure out his tone.
"Yeah, we're friends. What is your problem with him right now? You've been getting on great the last few months"
He stubbornly looks away.
"Friends who've sleep together" he murmurs and you grow impatient.
"Why are you so fixated on that? Do you want the details? How many times he's made me fucking come? How good it feels" you snap.
It's like he comes undone at that point. His expression darkens, his eyes almost black and your body reacts to the sight, it's hot and you're pissed at yourself for thinking this because you're furious with Eddie.
"You know what? Fuck you Eddie. Come back and see me when you have a better attitude" you walk away from him and he gently grabs your arm.
"What?!'' he gazes at your for a second, his eyes trail down to your lips and you freeze.
The air is heavy with tension and he licks his lips, eyes flicking back to your gaze.
He comes to and backs away then he's out the door leaving you in shock. You make your way back upstairs and find Steve at the top of the stairs shaking his head.
"I don't know what his deal is" You reply helplessly and Steve softens.
"He does. He just wont admit it sweetheart. Come on, let's watch a film yeah? Not really in the mood anymore" You agree and follow Steve downstairs.
💕
Eddie slams the door to his bedroom shut, his heart is racing and all he can think is what you said about Steve.
Images of you with him race through his mind and he the pain in his heart triples at the thought of you and Steve together.
Steve making you come over and over again, those moans, you writhing under Steve and saying his name. He can't stand the thought of you with Steve.
He lets out a yell of annoyance and slumps on the bed. What the hell was wrong with him. He hated this.
Uncle Wayne comes into his room and sighs, looking to the door then Eddie.
"Thought you were out tonight boy? You have another fight with Chrissy?" he nods his head and Wayne sits beside him.
"You ever wonder if she's really the girl for you?" he stares at his uncle. Really thinks on the question and struggles to answer.
He hadn't been happy for a while now.
"I don't know anymore. Things have been tense for a long time and then there's yn"
Wayne knows something is going on with you and Eddie right now but he isn't privy to all the details. Naturally he's curious because the two of you are very close.
"What's happening with you two. You not hanging out tonight" Eddie slumps back on the bed and shakes his head.
"She's with Steve" he scowls and Wayne raises his eyebrow.
"Harrington? Those two are together now?" Eddie nods tightly.
"More casual. Of course she would want someone like Steve. He's rich and goodlooking, all the chicks dig him. I get it but I still think of her with him and I don't like it, I've said stupid shit" he swears.
Wayne smiles and realises what's up with his nephew.
"Give yourself a break son. We all do stupid shit when we're in love" he pats Eddie's arm and Eddie jolts up staring after his uncle.
Wayne thought he was in love with you but that was totally fucking impossible right?
Fuck.
