OOH thank you so much for promoting this, I loved thinking about it. I think their interactions would be way more chill and informal than with Norman: since he is still the mind, Ray keeps being the boss, but to the Lambda group he feels a lot more like a chill boss rather than the whole intimidating "emperor" aura Norman had going on. Maybe exactly because Ray is a tiny step behind Norman in wits, he necessarily needs to rely on his squad more, which contributes to create a feeling of equality amongst them rather than the impression of interacting with a god. But even beyond that, it's just how Ray is personality-wise you know? He skips formalities and pleasantries, and is always found speaking bluntly. He doesn't care about formalities, and while Norman always puts on a nice face with both his allies and enemies (Gillian / Legravalima), Ray won't hesitate to tell you that he hates you (we could already see him disdaining pleasantries during his private interactions with Isabella). But that also means he'd probably be more chill and relaxed around the Lambda squad, because he simply doesn't feel like he has to put up with any kind of fake confident-and-invulnerable leader like Norman did. Just like in chapter 4 he disregarded sugarcoating the reality of the impossibility of the escape to Emma while Norman wasn't ready to tell her about that yet, Ray as Apollo won't fake confidence or superiority to reassure his comrades like Minerva Norman used to do. He won't try to soothe them in a false sense of safety by acting like he's unerring- that's just not how Ray is. Rather, I think he would act similarly to what he was used to at GF: make his comrades, hisfriends aware of the danger of the situation, maybe even of the impossibility of succeeding without sacrifices, all to make them the more conscious and determinated (reminder that just like Lambda didn't give Norman the chance to grow healthly and rather fomented his most ruthless tendencies in canon, the same happened to Ray in this AU, so he stayed a lot more similar to his old cynic GF self than the post-escape Ray we're used to). He's contrary to sugarcoating because from his point of view that's just creating another impediment that keeps them from being conscious of their position and objective of their chances. Ray is not as confident and arrogant as Norman is: he knows he can't make it on his own, so he's compelled to rely on others in order for his plan to succeed. Making them blind to the difficulty of the situation is not going to help, and that's why, at least when he's with his close collaborators, there'll be a lot less acting like he's invincible. And if initially the Lambda squad won't feel as reassured as they had been meeting Norman, I think on the long run it will be nice for them to believe that they can relly make it, they can create a new world by fighting together, and not because they have an unbeatable being on their side. Even if Ray is more direct and cynic than Norman, I still think he would manage to be enough reassuring and encouraging for the children he rescued. We know how, though never actively trying to become one, Ray showed to be ready and able to step in the role of leader when Emma needed his support. Though we could only catch a glimpse of his operate as a leader, I like to think that right here is how he would behave as one: straightforward and realistic, plainly and clearly exposing the reasoning behind his decisions; but also, somehow, being indirectly reassuring, in the way his people know what they're doing is the most rational way to act in order to guarantee their safety, finding comfort in the fact that their leader is always able to calculate what ensures the most chances of survival for them.

I digress, sorry about that //// Back to the main matter of how Ray would interact with Barbara and the others, I think we need to take into account that, differently from Norman, Ray probably shares their same hatred towards demons. I won't get into that thoroughly, but while I believe that Norman, though indeed hating the demons to an extent, didn't hate them as much as the others (he's repeatedly shown being upset by his lethal actions + honestly I just think Norman is a inherently good, emphatic dude don't @me), Ray definitely held the same resentment and loathing as the others did.

I can imagine, differently from what happened with Norman*, Ray hanging out with the group often, spending time in the forbidden demon room with them, joking and messing around. In the chapter 113 spread, I picture Ray not being somewhere else being dramatic, but instead walking alongside the others.

* (cfr. chapter 130: “It's been a while since I've been here” (Norman) / “I come here all the time” (Cislo) / “It's relaxing.” (Barbara). Norman doesn't sound like he enjoys spending time in the demon dungeon.)

Robin 2021 (Part 2)

I promised myself I won’t keep reading Robin series, but damn it, I just had to go and do it and surely enough, I was disappointed again. The only thing that makes worth the time I spent reading it is the art, because I can’t deny how appealing it is visually. 

Please take note before reading further: 

1. You may not agree with my interpretation of the series, and that’s okay. This is my criticism of the series but I will never go and hate on anyone if they do enjoy it and see no issues. 

2. My biggest issue here is not the discussion around the shipping- despite how cliche, forced and fanfic-like it is - but how it just has no place right now. Yes, I get it. It’s cute that Flatline may be ‘his goth gf’. Whatever. There’s no issue with her being goth or him having a goth gf or a bf or no gf/bf (although it would have been nice to see any of the latter explored). But what’s ‘cute’ doesn’t equal right for the characterization. That’s my biggest pet peeve. 

3. Aesthetics do not excuse poor characterization, plotline issues, etc. I am very worried that Robin (2021) will become a baseline that many will look at when they think about his character and that makes me genuinely sad. For all those who don’t know what I am referring to, I would recommend reading the Batman and Robin (2009) and Batman and Robin (2011), as well as Robin: Son of Batman. Are these series flawless? No. I.e, how Talia was portrayed by Morrisons. I think Gleason has done a good job. Tomasi was involved as well but I think the series were good because of Gleason. But all of the elements that are - humbling him, making him feel remorse- shown in the Robin issues is just a rehashing of something that’s already been done (much more effectively, I might add). 

4. Looooots of spoilers so please don’t read further than this if you don’t want them. 

So here are my takes from Robin #7. 

1. The preview description was rather misleading? But that I am actually happy about because honestly, I do not give a crap about having romance so early in the series. 

2. The revelation that Mother Soul is Ra’s Al Ghul’s mother. Okay....? Even if it hadn’t been predicted by fans, I still read that interaction and was like ‘meh, next’. 

3. In the beginning of series, Damian was portrayed as gleefully engaging in murder because he realized that all participants were revived by the island. That was OOC, but for me it just got worse from there. 

He realizes Mother Soul is up to no good. Surprise, surprise. A death tournament that is not going to end with rainbows and golden trophies? Gasp! I mean Damian needing to hear the island is feeding off of death to suddenly realize the tournament may not end up on a positive note for the participants is a weak plotline. He already knew participants only have 3 lives - so what did he think was gonna happen when some of them used them up? 

Going back to the point about Damian being portrayed as not caring about killing because people came back to life....wtf was that scene with Flatline? Seriously. The fight scenes were good, but the ending was just...eugh. Now, the author wants to have Damian have introspection? ‘’All this killing” Please. 

I feel like what this issue is saying, Damian only cared about participants dying because he found the island is feeding off of it? But what up until then? If he fought Flatline or Rose and they reached their third life, what then? Why does it have to be Flatline the one who drives the guilt further ‘it can’t be your first time’ ? It’s been established in the past that Damian feels remorse for his past actions and that he does not wish to be a cold blooded killer anymore.  

Why wasn’t he portrayed as feeling crap about killing earlier? Why was he first portrayed as wanting to use the tournament to prove he’s a fighter, then revealing he thinks something fishy is going on the island, only to then be gleeful in fighting again? (although those panels were superb)

Also, he knew Flatline would come back to life. The whole ‘bump bump’ panels- yet another focus to the damn shoujo manga and Alfred’s spirit - on her pulse, is so corny. He didn’t realize how wrong it all was until then? 

4. Ruh al Ghul points out she warned him about making friends. I am sorry, but when did Damian make friends? Rose, yeah. Maybe Hawke? Temporarily. 

5. “Isn’t it funny that it’s always the killers who learn that lesson?” Made me scream. Damian has already learned that lesson. Several times in the past. So, this whole series was what? Let’s use Flatline and annoying constant references to a shoujo manga to humble Damian? He’s already been humbled, many, many times. 

What’s wrong is how messy this series has been, how predictable and all over the place, how previous development is thrown out the window, how shipping is hinted as a big element when all the aforementioned issues exist. 

Damian Wayne’s character hasn’t been portrayed right for years. The only consolation I have is the Webtoon and the panels below (a part of them).

No one asked this and no one cares, but here’s my personal opinions about every glee ship:

Finchel: they had their cute moments, but in general I really dislike them as couple. They brought the worst out of each other when they were together, Finn made Rachel insecure and was also incredibly possessive of her (not in a cute way) and Rachel pressured Finn too much. She wanted to control him and often tried change him, they’re too different and not compatible. I think Rachel needs someone more simalar to her or someone who can understand her, because Finn really didn’t get Rachel.

Klaine: I’m neutral about klaine, I don’t hate them, but simply I’m not invested into this ship. They aren’t toxic, but I think their relationship has many issues and is a little unhealthy sometimes.They had a good start, but as the show went on they got worse. I love Blaine, he’s my gay son, but he was too jealous and controlling about Kurt. Kudos for the gay representation, i acknowledge their huge impact on the lgbt community

Brittana: wow what can I say about them ? They’re everything, best friends to lovers excellence. Brittana had a rough start, but their dynamic became a beautiful and mature relationship in which they always supported and loved each other. Even when they dated other people, Santana and Brittany respected each other. It had and still has a huge importance for the sapphic community, it is good representation and one of the first big teen wlw couples. Brittana are the definition of soulmates

Quick: absolute trash, Puck got Quinn drunk on wine coolers and then had sex with her while she was still drunk. There was nothing consensual about that. The fact that rib never acknowledged this is disgusting. They had very little interactions, their relationship was not developed. Puck and Quinn have literally nothing in common, they’re not compatible in any way and them getting together at the end always irked me because in s3 Quinn said she didn’t care about all the boys she dated in the past. If you ship them idc it’s fine, but I hate this pairing. It’s a huge no from me, I think Puck liked Quinn only because she was hot.

Faberry: THEY’RE MY RIDE OR DIE YOU DON’T UNDERSTAND HOW IMPORTANT THEY ARE TO ME. Enemies to lovers excellence, I know faberry was queerbaiting, but I still ship them after all these years. They have chemistry, lots of yearning and sexual tension, impossibly high angst level. This is the only pairing in which I will accept the trope “homophobic jock falls in love with the person they bully”. At first they were terrible to each other, but they managed to built a nice relationship and I seriously think Rachel was the only one for Quinn because she was the only person who always showed Quinn love and support even when they were enemies. I also think that Rachel felt something more than platonic for Quinn at some point (always ranting about how beautiful Quinn is ? That’s gay)

St berry: I like them, I know they had little screen time and they weren’t even supposed to be a thing according to rib (bc they planned on making finchel endgame), but I think they’re compatible, Jesse is probably the only person who could keep up with Rachel. They have many things in common and even though he was shitty to her at first, he redeemed himself. Rachel and Jesse have good romantic chemistry and excellent musical chemistry, their duets are amazing. I’m happy they got together in the end.

Pezberry: oh boy they’re so hot together, lots of sexual chemistry, they could have been enemies to friends to lovers excellence or at least friends with benefits, but ryan murphy is a coward. I enjoy their scenes, they’re hilarious together and always make me laugh. I think they’re a pretty explosive duo, pezberry has great musical chemistry, all their duets are iconic and there’s a lot of sexual tension between them, they’re definitely compatible in bed but idk if they would last in a long term relationship.

Quinntana: this pairing was very random in my opinion because Quinn and Santana lowkey hated each other and always wanted to destroy each other, BUT they are very hot together, they’re probably the most gorgeous couple on glee because both dianna and naya are insanely attractive. Quinntana gave me my sapphic!quinn rights and I’ll be forever thankful about that, they’re compatible in bed, but I like them only as friends with benefits. I don’t see any romantic chemistry between them, mostly because they were always competing about who was the hbic of the school. I don’t think they would last as a stable couple. I wanted to see more of quinntana though.

Fabrevans: if Quinn had to end up with a man, the only heterosexual Quinn ship I tolerate is fabrevans because Sam was really kind, sweet and good to her. Sadly she wasn’t very interested in him, he was just the hot new guy soon to become quarterback and I think she dated him for popularity. I don’t think they would have lasted in a long term relationship, they were cute together romantically speaking but I don’t ship them.

Samcedes: should have been endgame, definition of wasted potential

Tike: should have been endgame, even though I don’t care about Mike and Tina they were really good together, the love was genuine. Tike is one of the few heterosexual couple I don’t mind

Artittany: is a huge no from me, they had zero chemistry and he treated her like trash, artie deserved to be cheated on lol (I’m joking no one deserves that but I really don’t like artie because he’s sexist, misogynistic and he also treated all his gfs like crap)

Seblaine: I honestly don’t see it, Sebastian was definitely interested in Blaine, but Blaine always only had eyes for Kurt. Still I think they should have dated in s6, it would have been fun to see Kurt jealous about his nemesis dating his ex bf. I like the idea of Seblaine having a one night stand, but I don’t ship them as a couple. I also don’t like Sebastian very much, sorry.

Fuinn: A HUGE NO, they were aesthetically pleasing together, but that’s it. They didn’t have sexual tension, they just had tension. Fuinn is a little dysfunctional in my opinion, they get together, they break up and then start dating again just like finchel. I honestly don’t think they were in love, but they cared about each other in a platonic way. Finn wasn’t a good boyfriend to Quinn and Quinn constantly manipulated him. I don’t like them as a couple, they’re too messy.

Blam: best friends to lovers excellence, lots of wasted potential. I’m not saying they should have been endgame, but Sam and Blaine should have dated. I like the idea of Sam discovering he’s bi or pan and exploring his sexuality with someone who cares about him. They have chemistry and I like their dynamic. I also fancy their duets and I think they could have fallen in love with each other.

Hevans: ok if I squint I can see it, they had potential, Kurt was definitely attracted to Sam and Sam was kind of curious about him, I’m sure he admires Kurt and cares about him, but I don’t ship them together

Sebtana, Finntana, Pucktana: ABSOLUTE TRASH DON’T SHIP CANON LESBIAN CHARACTERS WITH MEN, IT’S INCREDIBLY HARMFUL AND INVALIDATING. There are so many heterosexual ships, why do you have to take away from the gays the few lgbt characters we have ?

Quinncedes: i don’t ship them romantically, but I ship them as best friends. I wished their friendship was more developed, Quinn and Mercedes were so good to each other.

Quinntina: have they even interacted with each other ? (Lmao I’m joking again don’t get pressed, you can ship what you what). I don’t ship it, they’re cute and I lowkey like Tina, but it’s not my cup of tea. Still it’s a wlw ship, so I don’t have anything against it.

Wemma: no

Artie x Tina: I don’t even know their ship name, imagine how much irrelevant they are to me. Again I don’t like how artie treats women, I don’t ship them and Tina deserves better than him.

Samchel: underrated af, i’m not saying they should have been endgame because they wouldn’t have lasted in a long term relationship, BUT they were cute together. Sam was really good for Rachel, he made her more humble and helped her to heal after Finn died. They deserved more development and had a lot of potential. She wasn’t even defending herself she was just doing things to spite them and get them talking even more, how can Harry even try to defend that? Like unless some things said were very dangerous and fans started crossing a line to attack her in person most of it was just she looking for the comments and then indirectly trolling so there isn’t much to defend when the person is actively looking for bad comments just because she wants to make fans mad

I know it must be tiring for his s/o but if they are not constantly trolling and looking at what fans are saying eventually fans will stop and simply start ignoring them, and most bad comments happen mostly on tabloids pages/sites and Twitter so why would someone lose their time going through that to see what people are talking? Especially if they know the comments won’t be nice?

&& Ruh-Roh. Hey guys! I thought it’s probably about time for me to make a bit more official greeting. Thanks for following, that’s a good start. I really look forward to getting to write with you all and interact! ♡ As I started in a less formal post, Ashe can be a tricky muse to work with. She doesn’t have a lot of ties to things, and thus some interactions with her will most likely involve plotting. 

I do have an OVW verse that could be very useful, especially for people looking to rp more in the past. I have a verse where Ashe joins OVW at the same time as Jesse. Instead of ONE wayward troubled cowpoke, you can have TWO for the price of one. Incredible. I have some stuff about that up on my verses, but I plan on making a more in depth version as I see that verse getting used a fair amount. -- I also have Junkenstein (tis not the season but I really don’t care when it comes to monsters.) -- and OFC you can just fuckin join Deadlock, because honestly. Honestly. 

As for canon, I do have it where Ashe DOES travel. She runs a criminal empire, and her parents had more connections than eggs in a hen house. You think she didn’t steal that information and control connections? Please, honey. Anyway, point is she can be almost anywhere for various reasons although yes 85% of the time she’s probably in her territory. I’ll eventually write more on how I think all of that goes down and what not, but later.

Just a few reminders since I’m here:

I am single-ship but again one sided relations, one night stands, friends with benefits, all that jazz is still allowed. Ofc my bread and butter has and always will be platonic/family bonds, it’s what I got known for writing and I stick by it. Enemies are also welcome, hell anything is just about welcome. Okay, so yk how Sokka and Suki gain mutual respect for each other over the course of The Kyoshi Warriors Episode. I think about this all the time like I just wonder HOW they developed their feelings for each other? They are my OTP so I need y’all’s HEADCANNONS!

Okay the things that has always confused me is WHY did Suki kiss Sokka on the cheek? There was no indication that she had a crush on him in the Kyoshi Warrior episode. Maybe she had an attraction but they only knew each other for a little less than a week. Is kissing on the cheek a gesture of friendship or respect on Kyoshi Island? Maybe...BUT the way I counter that is that she kisses him and then says, “but I’m a girl too.” So MAYBE she started developing feelings for him. It’s also important to note that Suki was supposed to be a one time character but then people loved her so much they developed her into team avatar and as Sokka’s gf. So what did that kiss mean if she was only meant for one episode? What do y’all think? I feel like after he left she thought about him ALL THE TIME. Kyoshi Island is isolated so this boy waltzing in was probably a HUGE deal and flipped her perception of relationships upside down perhaps. Her and the warriors left to help in the war effort but SHE LEFT because Sokka inspired her. Do y’all think she also left in hopes of running into him again...hmm maybe. It’s very present in the Serpent’s Pass episode that she had a massive crush on him and failed at flirting because again she hasn’t had much time to do the “but I’m a girl too” part until Sokka came along.

Okay now that I analyzed Suki a bit WHAT ABOUT Sokka? I honestly think he liked Suki for her personality at first and that he thought she was pretty. Especially after all that training they did. I really wonder what they talked about during those days all the time. I feel like he liked her a lot as a friend at first then respected her as a warrior. Partners in crime of I may add. Now that kiss on the cheek. Let’s note that Sokka has probably never romantically interacted with a girl ever. There aren’t any his age in the SWT as far as we know and he was focused on being a warrior and looking out for Katara. Now that this Kyoshi girl is here he probably had a small crush on her in the beginning. But he also saw her as a great warrior and friend. That kiss probably meant a lot to him and he probably thought about it a lot. I like to think that he thought of Suki every now and then before they reunited in S 2. He evens asks that guy about her in hopes of seeing her again. But at this point I think he was just attracted to her but not interested too much in pursuing a romantic relationship. Now, let’s talk about Yue. Sokka fell in love with Yue for a few weeks if I recall correctly. He wanted to protect her and care for her and not to mention she was drop dead gorgeous and very adorable. After she died and he couldn’t save her Sokka was scared he’d lose the other people he loved without a fight. He reunites with Suki. Notice that the way he hugs her after she kisses his cheek. It’s a very FRIENDLY hug compared to how he embraces her in the Boiling Rock episode. At this point he clearly is excited to reunit and to catch up. He is also obviously attracted to her and they flirt playfully before the actual pass part. Suki’s life was put in danger multiple times on that journey and I FEEL LIKE Sokka reacted the way he did BECAUSE he saw Yue in her and I think he realized that he actually cares deeply for Suki. Like he wanted to protect her like he wanted to protect Yue whimsy he loved. That being said Sokka realized the way he felt toward Suki when he compared the similar feelings he felt when yue was in danger. The same feeling for someone he loved. But I still don’t think Sokka was in love with her yet. But in this episode he realizes that he wants to protect her which is equal to love in Sokka language. It’s apparent to the viewer that he loves her or at least wants to be with her as bf and gf. Let’s also note that Suki came to protect HIM meaning she had already realized her feelings which we can see in this episode.

Now,let’s talk about the Day of Black Sun. Azula teases that Suki was her favorite prisoner to incite emotion out of Sokka. This indicates that Azula personally tortured Suki and if Azula was lying this means that she would at least emotionally torture Suki. This also indicates that Suki did love him and hoped that he would rescue her in her times of deepest trouble. Saying that Suki gave up on him and that she was Azula’s favorite prisoner incites a rage in Sokka. He even cries. I think it’s in this moment that he realizes that Suki is more than a crush/gf. He would do anything to protect her. Let’s remember that when Sokka wants to protect someone that means he loves them.

The boiling rock is when they realize that they are in it. Ride or die. I say this because Suki was willing stay with him despite the chance or escape and Sokka risked everything to rescue her after seeing her. Also they are so sweet in this episode

The funniest thing about june teasing katara and zuko about being a couple is that she just sees a pretty girl and an attractive guy, both looking almost the same age which immediately makes her go "you two must be a couple" and it just reminds me of zvtara shippers, you know what i mean? I'm convinced one of the reasons a lot of ppl ship them is bc of their looks. katara being the female protagonist and also a pretty, smart and powerful girl & zuko, despite not being the male protagonist, being the most attractive guy in the gaang. Boom, a "bomb ass ship". It is worth to recall that "people ship zutara bc they projected onto katara and had a crush on zuko". And if they say they don't ship them for that reason, then it's bc they read too much between the lines in every interaction they have. So, back to june, she didn't even care if they had chemistry or if they were friends or anything, she just straight up teased them about being a couple lmao. Because in all honesty zvtara can be an appealing ship in anyone's eyes but THAT'S IT, it doesn't go further than that. I can be testimony of that😅Before even watching the show i was like june, one day i saw a zk fanart and was like "wow aren't those zuko and katara from atla? They look so good, she's gorgeous and he's hot" i already knew kataang was endgame and that mai was zuko's love interest but seeing zuko and katara together was pleasing to my eyes. However once i watched the show for the first time (2 months ago i think) i realized there was really no romantic chemistry between them, nothing, literally nothing, i mean, i wasn't even waiting for the zvtara content in the show that made ppl ship them so much, i was actually very neutral about ships, i couldn't care less about them, but i still realized nothing was happenig between them and that it was obvious since book 1 ep 1 that kataang was endgame. Zuko and katara were two teenagers from opposite sides of a war that tried to kill each other multiple times and when zuko changed sides they developed a completely platonic relationship. As i said, people either ship them because it's an appealing and aesthetically pleasing ship (water/fire, enemies to lovers, opposites attract, the common red & blue ship) or they just love reading too much between the lines, OR BOTH, because they were so thirsty about it they ended up convincing themselves there was romantic tension between them, that they liked each other and that zvtara was scrapped when it was never planned in the first place. Not to mention the reasons why they claim zvtara should've been endgame are based only on symbolism and things they have in common that are just so ??? Random. e.g. (i saw these on a post on facebook and the comment section was hilarious, it was full of ppl being sarcastic about it & making fun of it) saying they should've been canon bc:

1. "They both lost their mothers at a young age" (?)

2. "katara was good but had rage in her heart and zuko was bad but had good in his heart so it was like yin and yang, and that was the main purpose/topic of the show" (?)

3. "they both had alter egos (painted lady and blue spirit)" (???) this one sounds like saying maiko was canon bc zuko worked in a tea shop and mai worked in a flower shop😂

4. "Zuko was the only one who supported katara in taking revenge on her mom's assassin" (?) if you ask me, that just proves zuko is not right for katara, he led her to do something she was gonna regret later (not trying to hate on zuko, i love him, and since i love him i acknowledge his flaws. I understand why he thought it was the best thing to do, he's an impulsive and resentful boy (he would've done the same if it was his mom) and he noticed how thirsty katara was for revenge, ofc he wanted to help her + he wanted her to accept him and thought it was the right thing to do in order to gain her trust, but it wasn't) unlike zuko, aang tried to make katara come to her senses and do the thing that was best for her: forgive and let go, and it was basically what she did at the end. She didn't do what zuko expected her to do. She did what aang expected her to do. She didn't forgive her mom's assassin, but she forgave zuko, and she didn't do THAT thing she (and aang) knew would regret later. Aang knew katara and what was the best thing for her to do.

5. and the most ridiculous one, "they both saved each other's lives in the final agni kai"(???????) and the funniest part is that it was followed by "WHAT MORE PROOFS DO YOU WANT???". Honestly wtf did ppl expect? Did they expect zuko to stand there and watch katara die? Did they expect katara to just stand there and watch zuko lay on the floor & die? And this has been said a million times and i am going to join and say it once again: zuko would've done that for ANYONE from the gaang, he would've done the same for toph, sokka, suki and aang. Because he learned to care about them. As for katara, she would've done that for anyone too wtf she healed aang once too and even brought him back to life. (I wouldn't be surprised if zk shippers used that as a parallel for romantic zvtara proof bc they're just like that💀)

There were more "reasons" but they're just so stupid and taken out of context like "they care for each other" & "katara was the one who encouraged him to talk to his uncle" like yeah that's what friends do. Basically all zvtara shippers do is REACH.

Also, i just can't see it happening. I like the enemies to lovers trope, maybe if the writers really intended to make it canon, i would have been down for the ship, it would've been interesting to see how it developed, but,, they didn't, and later i came to the realization that if it would've really happened, it would've been so... weird. Time to bring up the "colonized and colonizer ship" and how some ppl feel uncomfortable about it. Besides the fact that a relationship between zuko and katara wouldn't have worked (they're incompatible af, katara is a girl with a strong character and zuko is a guy with anger issues that takes everything personal, they'd be at each other's throats 99% of the time) it's just weird to think that katara would choose to marry a man from the fire nation, the nation that caused a big war that traumatized her, the nation that took her mother away from her. Imagine katara ruling along with zuko a nation she despised for years. Fire lady katara doesn't sit right with me, and i'm sure it doesn't sit right with a lot of ppl as well. I don't see katara doing that, and yes, i know she forgave zuko, but still, she would've never done that 🤦🏽‍♀️ i think it would've been so OOC tbh.

Another thing i laugh my ass off at is when they say "zuko should've chosen katara instead of mai" as if they were ever in a relationship for zuko to say "ok imma choose katara i wanna be with her". As if katara was EVER an option for him. They never showed interest in each other, what's not clicking?????? And zuko only had eyes for mai, not to mention that despite zuko and mai had a rough relationship, no girl would've dealed with zuko's bs better than mai. Can you imagine katara dealing with zuko blowing up over everything? Because i can't. Also people saying things like "zuko deserves someone who is always there for him and listens to him" (and ofc they're talking about katara) like, ok, you hate that katara is aang's "therapist" but you want her to be zuko's therapist. Logic? Where? And I do remember mai being a supportive gf and trying to cheer him up multiple times. Did they watch the same show as me?

Zvtarians try to play the victims about how they were "robbed" bc some voice actors shipped them and from what i've read people who worked for the show suggested to go for zk, but that's stupid, it doesn't count as "they planned it but scrapped it, we were robbed". The only word that counts are the creators' voice and they have stated they were always rooting for kataang, so no, you were not robbed.

People are just so in love with the idea of zuko and katara together they really convinced themselves it was likely to happen. Honestly zvtara it's a fine ship as fanon but ppl ruined it for me and what i hate the most is when they ship it and hate on aang and mai at the same time and make them look SO bad to invalidate kataang and maiko. Saying aang is abusive and mai is toxic is complete ✨bullshit✨ and lastly, it's ridiculous when they say the creators were cowards for not making it canon. They're cowards for not fulfilling your greatest childhood wish? Something they never planned? It is THEIR show. If you hate sm how things turned out then quit atla once and for all and go find another show that you know is gonna give you what you expect,,, it's tiring that they've been crying about it for 15 yrs , like, i joined the fandom recently but i can imagine how tired old atla fans must be of this.

OK so I have a lot of thoughts about this and firstly,,,anon I appreciate the dedication that it took for you to write  this, and I agree with many of your points. However, the attitude I have on this blog towards Avatar ships is far more neutral than what you’re saying.

Ultimately, romance is not and never was the focus of Avatar. Romantic development was always secondary or tertiary plot, and the entire show was far more focused on platonic relationship development. My attitude towards shippers on here - including Zutara shippers - is that people can ship what they want, as long as they’re respectful of each other and of the other characters that “interfere” with their ship. End of the day, shipping is irrelevant to the core of the show. 

People shipping something because they find it aesthetically appealing is honestly,,,fine. Personally, I think it’s reductionist, but I don’t care if you do because everyone has the right to enjoy media however they want to. 

That being said, we absolutely should call out racist or problematic tropes that we see, including ‘fire lady katara”. I also agree that it’s upsetting when people bash other characters in order to further their ship, as much of the bashing is also pretty racist and/or misogynistic. Calling that out, however, is separate from calling out every single person who happens to enjoy certain ships.

I understand where you’re coming from, but I honestly disagree with this take. Both Aang and Zuko were approaching the situations from their own life experiences, but Katara didn’t do what either of the boys wanted. She chose her own path, by both sparing Yon Rha’s life but also refusing to forgive him. The episode is about Katara and her personal trauma and its focus should not be on her relationships with either Zuko or Aang. 

When I make posts such as this, it’s less about hating Z*tara and more about how this fandom focuses all its attention on romance and shipping, to the point where if you acknowledge a relationship’s importance it’s assumed you pair the two romantically. I don’t read Zuko and Katara’s relationship as romantic (for reasons that it would take too long to explain here), but their relationship development is extremely important, the two of them share tons of parallels and the final Agni Kai marks the culmination of both of their character arcs. Yes, Zuko would have taken the lightning for any of the characters, but it’s thematically important that it was Katara. None of this inherently means it’s romantic, but refusing to acknowledge the significance of the relationship between them is equally reductionist. 

This isn’t an attack on you, anon, and you’re 100% allowed to have negative feelings about a ship. But at the end of the day, it’s not worth getting this worked up over. If I were you I’d focus more on creating/consuming content for a ship you like than bashing ships you don’t!

A chaotic summary of my feelings/ reactions of each episode! Spoilers. Obviously. 

Episode 1 — Horde Prime

- First of...Adora stop throwing yourself into battle challenge - "You're not She-Ra anymore" — TELL HER SIS - The way Catra was so smug but Glimmer was not having any of it "You're just as alone as I am" if that ain't the truth idk what is - Catra wanting the climb up the ranks? Sis I don't think so let's see how long that lasts - The DINNER pissed me the fuck OFF - Oh yeah here's my obligatory SW FUCK OFF CHALLENGE - Micah, King, glare at her!! Yes!! - The way Scorpia said "Catra thought my singing was annoying" honey - That clone was SO annoying stfu about Prime being omniscient and omnipresent and shit like ugH idC - Bow and Adora are the BROTP - Scorpia stinging Adora to keep her safe - and that's on friendship - The way Prime INSTANTLY called Catra out "Adora means something to you" listen I hate the gay but damn he's smart. He saw right through her act. - "Adora chose her side and I chose mine" that doesn't mean you don't still care Catraaa - Also that was REALLL quick lmaoo the way five seconds she was like "imma climb up the ranks" then in about two secs HP was like "sis I have no use for you" - "What are you going to do to me?" - Adora omg she's so fatigued girl S L E E P - Bow getting pissed at everyone for not letting her rest...what a king - Catra disobeying HP and talking back to that clone but then HP took its form...fuck man that shit scary - STOP CALLING HER  LITTLE SISTER CHALLENGE JESUS FUCK - Everyone hates Entrapta wow ouch - Literally Entrapta being horny over robots is hilarious lmaoo - Mermista is a great leader and they worked so well together ahhh! I'm loving Scorpia and Frosta's friendship - Entrapta got the signal!! I'm proud -  Adora stop following holograms and illusions challenge -  Adora being all like "I don't know my destiny anymore but I know I need to save my friend." IM SO UPSET WTF -  CATRA IS FUCKED BUT SHE SAVED GLIMMER -  HP GTFO CHALLENGE -  I'm so proud of my baby tho wow... -  What the fuck we gone do now? -  so much happened in this episode so this is a lot shorter because my brain is numb. Catra is gonna get brainwashed?? isn't she?? -  "I want to do that one good thing in my life." IM CRYING Y'ALL

And he has made me whole again." - "We both know I don't matter"  and "you're and idiot" "I know" THESE TWO ARE MADE FOR EACH OTHER - SHE JUMPED OFF A CLIFF FOR HER - the way she's holding her?? so soft - SHE RA IS LOOKING FLY -- and is she taller?? - "You miscalculated" YES QUEEN I LOVE HER.
