Do you write stories?
occasionally, but mostly i just come up with ideas that never make it past the worldbuilding stage
#the problem with writing stories for me is that i always end up feeling like a certain plot point necessary to resolve and#continue the narrative feels too contrived. even though plenty of lauded authors have advanced their stories#through arguably 'contrived' means. because thats literally what fiction is about. making shit up.#but thats where i always get stuck. i cant reconcile with my own imagination

I've seen a lot of people don't like "franmaya sets up narumitsu" so I raise you
franmaya sets up faraskye, then faraskye sets up narumitsu
or alternatively, for maximum chaos, WHILE. But then the head chef at the fancy restaurant gets murdered and they have to investigate together while not giving away the plan. "It was all a set-up!" gets said twice in very different contexts
#ace attorney#franmaya#faraskye#narumitsu#I recognize this doesn't fix all the problems with that prompt but I do think it makes more sense for the characters#Franziska would not do that for Edgeworth and Phoenix; she might do that for Kay - a genuine friend of hers she's kind towards#Maya says she can work it out but both her and Fran quickly run out of ideas#Ema and Kay are two of Edgeworth's biggest fans & think they're so clever they can resolve this. Probably rope in Gumshoe to do something#also I added the murder because I would actually read that & everyone would be an active participant in the plot.#[Reposted with revised wording & tags because I overreacted to a comment. added the murder bit because it made things more interesting.]#my posts

I’m going absolutely insane over my miraculous rewrite thing
I have concepts done for every episode of season 1, concepts for the overarching plot across seasons (I’m trying to cut down on a season or two, which is very feasible with how I’m playing my cards). I have drafts (first drafts, mind you) of several of the episodes, and I FUCKING FIGURED OUT HOW TO IMPLEMENT LILA IN A WAY THAT ISNT AS STUPID!!! THIS TOOK ME A WEEK NEARLY TO COME UP WITH!!!
#for the record she’s taking the place of the absolute monster Chloé becomes later in the show/was said to be prior to the show#like Chloé is a bully don’t get me wrong but she was never THAT bad. But by making Lila the one who gave the main cast their big trauma it#gives her a tie-in with them and has her as a character as early as possible#oh yeah on that note I completely reorganised the episodes so that they have significant continuity#a lot of episodes will start something and finish it in the next one or a couple episodes later#except for the Felix episode. the problem in that one will take a WHILE to be fully resolved because that kicks off the main interpersonal#Agreste plot#anywho#oh yeah I’m introducing Felix super early#I’ll make designs soon. I have some redesigns for Marinette Alya and Chloé as well as Gabe that I’m liking the looks of#specifically Gabe’s transformation (which is being called Monarch bc he’s a diva in my version /hj)#miraculous#miraculous ladybug#mlb#mlb au#mlb rewrite#miraculous au#miraculous rewrite

I haven’t finished Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End yet, but I love how Frieren decides to agressively bother a random smoker until he signs her adoption papers. This man then realizes he has not, in fact, been adopted, but has rather been hired as a marriage counselor to two people who don’t even know they’re married…

Give this man a raise XD
#like— I was NOT expecting this plot twist 🤣#then once fern and stark have their problems resolved he just yeets outta there 🤣🤣🤣#sousou no frieren#sein#fern#stark#fern x stark#text post#they’re so funny to me

El oh el guys I’m so excited to spend 500+ dollars on a console and 80 dollars on a download code game so I can finally play a Hyrule warriors game as my favourite character from totk: nameless faceless sage number three!!!!!
#bluebird.txt#totk critical#totk salt#I’m joking of course. I’m not spending money on or playing this shit#u wanna be age of calamity so bad it’s embarrassing. it won’t even have the great Dadruk and Mipha#what if instead of creating a story that’s actually like. good#Nintendo gave botw: nuts and bolts a Hyrule warriors spin-off#surely this time they’ll resolve the dozens of plot holes continuity problems botched arcs and general dogshit quality#despite the fact that they have no interesting lore and a carcass of a story#and the cardboard cutouts totk calls characters would barely fill half a roster#salt of the kingdom

Once again I read fanfiction that seems to have been precisely written to deal psychic damage to me.
#this is about viridian the green guide. you guys actually read this slop?#boring as shit writing#awful plot lines (trigger has been resolved get new material#excessive use of italics and ‘problem child’. has the author heard anyone use a nickname irl ever#I hate bakugou slightly less than I hate Deku but even I could tell they suck at writing him#skipped over a few chapters because the writing was melting my brain but he would never be that condescending to himself#who the hell thinks ‘I’ve decided to not be an asshole’ with total seriousness#back to the bad plot lines. endeavor *checks notes* becomes a nomu and dies? I know the author nerfed everyone in the ground to match Deku#but wtf was the idea here#most successful cases in Japan and the strongest fire quirk ever (besides Dabi) and he gets treated like fodder?#there’s a certain childish canadence fanfiction writers type in when discussing ideas with others and the whole fic reeks of it.#the general easy going and generic aura vtgg emanates makes it even more insufferable#yeah insufferable is definitely the one word to describe this fic#original fic is ass and it only popularized the concepts. now you have even more bad writers speedrunning terrible concepts#it’s two am so this might not makes sense but whatever. not tagging this as mha because there are a lot of people who like this thing.#also fuck fics with love interests who were pretty happy in canon but actually have two thousand problems in fics#rant#anyways! I need to check into my games#I need to find the fic summarized so I can properly write my fanfic bashing vigilante/quirkless aus. barely any difference anyways.

WIP Wednesday!
Smith leaned against the wall, arms crossed, watching his grandson work. Well—grandsons, at the moment. “Watch your angle, Blue,” he said, his voice firm but not unkind.
“I know what I’m doing,” Blue snapped. Sparks flew from the blade he was sharpening, the whetstone’s pitch climbing with each turn.
“Sure you do, lad. That’s why you’ve broken three hammers this month,” Smith chuckled.
“I didn’t break three! It was two and a half!”
Vio, bent low over the workbench with a dagger in hand, setting gems in its hilt, didn’t even glance up. “You can’t break only half of something. It’s a binary—broken or not.”
“I’ll break your—”
“Enough, Blue,” Green cut in. “Let’s just finish the sword, alright? The customer’s coming by today.”
Red piped up from the scrap bin. “Do you think we’ll get to work on that big order next week? You know, the ceremonial—”
The shopfront door rattled suddenly, the sound cutting through the banter. Four voices groaned in unison, and Smith pushed off the wall with an exaggerated sigh.
“That’ll be them now,” he said, giving the boys a pointed look. “Keep at it. I’ll handle the customer.”
Green nodded and set his hammer down, taking a step back from the anvil as the others gathered. “Thanks, Grandpa.”
Smith waved him off, already moving toward the shopfront, paying no mind to the brief pulse of magic in the forge. His voice shifted seamlessly into the hearty, welcoming tone he used to greet customers. “Welcome! You here for that blade we talked about?”
Behind him, Link lowered his hand from the hilt of the Four Sword, sheathed snugly on his back. As if nothing had happened, he picked up the hammer Green had left behind and resumed his work on the glowing steel.

i'm watching s2 of swat rn and 100%, the way they have regular little mentions of rocker in episodes where he doesn't appear is so good to me and plays into one of the reasons why getting into swat makes me hate the "it's just a procedural lol you're overthinking it!!" defense Even More when people criticise 911. swat is Such a procedural and yet !!! people exist outside of their scenes, the mains all have relationships with each other rather than just one or two scene partners, a lot of threads - plot, character, emotional - carry through for longer than one or two episodes, people have relationships outside of their colleagues, characters learn and grow. and the audience can follow all of this so so so easily. it has a measure of faith in the viewers and our ability to follow a story. i'm not going to argue that it's the best show on tv or anything, but damn, the difference is noticeable.
it's definitely highly flawed (even without getting into the copaganda of it all) but there's a lot of things they're doing right especially regarding characters and their relationships and it's refreshing getting back into that after the mess that is this season of 911 🙏
#fun fact i actually got into 911 bc i enjoyed things being resolved within two to three episodes#but it's become a problem lately#with plots being too rushed#or not making sense#and it's unsatisfying af#cloud answers stuff#anon ask#swat cbs

i've done so much research on medieval farming and all it's gotten me is more questions
#but that's work for tomorrow#luckily the more i learn about what goes into a medieval farm#the more natural i can make the lulls in my comic be#cause there will be a lot of character interactions that will take place over chores#so i gotta know what would be accurate daily and seasonal chores#ALSO i realized recently that so many of my plotting problems got solved simply cause i got a calendar for the Celts#because there's events i need to take place to teach Dante lessons#but they dont need to actually be in any particular order because it will happen regardless#the only things that follow a necessary timeline is Dante's emotional learning curve#so by getting my hands on The Celtic Book of Days#(i actually now own two copies cause the authors targeted this subject very differently from each other so there was benefit in having both#i can now plug my scenes into a sensible order cause harvests happen in the summer (during Beltane) and in the fall (during Lughnasa)#and vegetables also get planted in Beltane and Lughnasa so anything related to planting sowing and harvesting will be within this timeframe#and then winter starts with Sanheim (both as a fesitval and also the name of the season) which is what set off the final arc#because Sanheim is the start of the year (November 1st btw) which is perfect in my opinion to finally resolve the original conflict

I'm a fan of Hazbin Hotel, but man does it have writing problems. I watched episode 5 and 6 yesterday and I think that if they did episode 3 differently it could've made episode 5 make more sense. Let me explain.
**Spoilers from here on, so if you haven't seen it and you wanna watch it yourself first then don't continue.**
Ngl guys. Episode 3 was a mess. I won't go into all the details, but I was just disappointed. To sum my thoughts up, I think Vaggie's arc should've been about her learning to trust people, they shouldn't have revealed who killed the angel; Camilla being the angel killer is kind of boring imo; and I don't care about the emotional ballad because I have no reason to care about Camilla or Vaggie's low point because it comes out of nowhere.
Now we're gonna talk about Charlie and Alastor in episode 5 because honestly what is going on??? Alastor hates Lucifer the second he walks in the door and immediately starts trying to act like he and Charlie have like a father/daughter dynamic and he's suddenly really protective of her even though this dynamic/type of relationship between the two has never been established before??? And I don't think he's just doing it to piss of Lucifer either. Like he's way protective over Charlie all of a sudden and judging by the song Alastor and Lucifer sing together, he's like maybe jealous of him or sees him as a threat??? Idk, guys, it's weird and I have no idea what the fuck is going on or why here. They barely have any screen time together and none of the interactions they have up until this point implies a more developed relationship than when he first started with the hotel. There could be a reason that we don't know yet especially with the connection between Lillith and Alastor that has been drawn before, but that does not expain this weird dynamic with Charlie that hasn't been established. This is my biggest qualm with episode 5. So how could episode 3 have changed this?
Episode 3 has Charlie entrust Vaggie with doing trust exercises, but Vaggie is not a very trusting person in general. She doesn't trust most of the people in the hotel even; especially Alastor. Since Vaggie is supposed to be running the trust exercises, Charlie doesn't really have anything to do except watch her, but what if she was somewhere else? You know what the ultimate trust exercise would be for Vaggie's character? The one person she holds dear accompanying an incredibly powerful and terrifying demon overlord on his day out with just the two of them. Vaggie's plot with the hotel gang would be her spying on Alastor and Charlie. She'd force the hotel gang to help her.
Now to focus more on the Alastor issue, Charlie asks Alastor if she can join him on his day out since she fully trusts that Vaggie can handle doing some trust exercises with the rest of the gang. At first Alastor says no and explains that he's got a very important meeting to attend today, but then Charlie shows him her power to turn into a tiny snake and tells him that no one will even notice that it's her (her dad could do it so why not her?) She also adds that if the people he's meeting with have anymore information about the extermination that it's important for her to know. Alastor caves and they head off. They have some banter on the way until Zestial shows up and talks with Alastor. Charlie is hiding in one of Alastor's jacket pockets (or maybe even just chilling on his shoulder since she's disguised as a snake.) until they get to the meeting with the other overlords.
After said meeting, we don't get to know who killed the angel. That whole scene with Zestial and Camilla is scrapped for this as well as the song. The meeting makes her realize just how dire the situation is with the knowledge that angels can be killed and that demons can kill them. Not only that, but the Vs, who control many parts of the media of hell, now know that and could release the information at anytime and start a violent revolt or even a war before she can prove that there doesn't need to be one. She feels scared and almost defeated after this, but Alastor comforts her saying he doesn't think redemption is possible, but if anyone can prove him and the rest of the worlds wrong, it's Charlie. Maybe they even sing a song together. Maybe she even talks about the troubles she has with her dad with him, hence why he doesn't like him immediately in episode 5.
After this moment, Vaggie, who has been spying on them almost the whole time, realizes that maybe she should be more trusting of people. Charlie finds her and the gang spying on them and concludes that Vaggie needs to do some trust exercises. The whole ordeal has brought everyone in the group closer together. They go back to the hotel where Charlie has Vaggie do the trust fall from the beginning of the episode. Vaggie, with baited breath and eyes closed, falls backwards. When she lands she thinks it must've been Charlie that caught her, but when she opens her eyes she's been caught by everyone arms including Alastor's. The only one who didn't catch her was Charlie who had her eyes closed the whole time trusting her friends to catch her.
They laugh about it and have some silly banter. Alastor watching them all laughing, looks at Charlie. She's still clearly shaken by the meeting. He gives Charlie a smile and reassuring hand on the shoulder looks to the gang all laughing together and says, "See, dear? You're already starting to prove me wrong." (or something like that) Charlie grins back at him and hugs him tightly as he begrudgingly, but also kind of not begrudgingly, lets her hug him and doesn't push her away. She lets go and joins the group followed by Alastor. The episode ends.
TL;DR: Allowing Alastor and Charlie to bond in episode 3 would've really helped episode 5 imo andd episode 3 had a perfect set up for that to happen. I still think even with this little fix you'd have to build up this dynamic more for it to really work tbh, but it's possible. Anyways, there's my little ramble. I do wanna know what y'all think of it, so if you have thoughts lemme know.
#I know this is long but I just had such a vivid vision of this version of the episode while thinking about all of this.#I really wish this show didn't have so many writing problems and I wish that it was given more time to tell this story.#This just seems like the type of story that REALLY needs time to build and breathe and rushing it all so it'll all fit in 8 episodes is#doing it no favors. I would rather a series have time to build and be well written and focused with a cliff-hanger or twist at the end that#never gets resolved because another season wasn't greenlit. than for the writing/plot to be rushed but with a conclusive ending.#hazbin hotel#hazbin hotel critique#discussion#mine

something has been bothering me the whole time I've been reading acosf and honestly I think it's just that Nesta and Feyre are so clearly SUCH different people that it's wild to me that their happy endings are basically identical. Like maybe not everyone's plot needs to be "heal from your trauma with your night court found family and marry a sexy faerie with bat wings"
#the book really shines when there are moments of difference#the friendship with gwyn and emerie and Nesta liking the House of Wind are good examples#but broadly the story beats are just so similar#I also think there's a problem with sequel-series like this in general#where it just undermines the stakes of the original books#like we watched Nesta go through this AWFUL thing being Made against her will#but then in this series it's like it's fine she can recover and heal and it'll end up being even better than her life before#(because she gets to fuck Cassian who is Hot)#and so it kind of sets up the precedent of like...anything bad that happens in this set of books will be resolved eventually. so like.#what are the stakes. like I'm set up to believe that these characters can heal from whatever trauma they endure and no one will die so#and I get it I get it they're romance books#but I think the first 3 really stuck the landing on being plot-driven fantasy as well which was why I liked them#and acosf just isn't doing as well on that. for me. personally.

many things bug me about this book but the way it just casually mentions nyame's family died by fucking hate crime and doesn't. explore that? how it affected him as a child or an adult? doesn't make us feel like we know haniah (one of her personal favorite characters? i thought?) or their mother? it's weird. I'm always thinking about it
#also i thought he had two sisters wheres the other one 🤨#ill make a separate post another day but also the horrific anti-roma violence (thats always been in these books) gets so bad but has#almost no effect on the plot or characters? if we're not going to give these incredibly heavy topics the time to develop that they deserve#whats the point...#it all ends up at my sole actual problem with the book which is that it resolves almost nothing it introduces#it's an unfinished collection of interesting things#i love it though going to read it 8 more times this year once the english copy is in my hands dw#says kenna#tcor spoilers#'he does have flashbacks tho' this is not enough imo to not count as fridging#and it's way too real and horrifying a tragedy to be talked about so little

at risk of sounding pretentious i genuinely tend to find the low standards of others with regards to media strangely motivating, like i will see someone posting about something i think is complete slop as if it's the most serious and well-put-together thing they've ever seen and it'll be like "This is awesome people can love anything no matter what even if it sucks so bad and is just not good" However this motivation is still not enough to get me to actually do anything so it's really useless.
#I don't think my problem is that i think people won't like it.#My problem is that i am psychologically incapable of getting from point A to point B. I get too busy thinking about like point E.#i keep thinking 'this is it im really gonna make it this time' when i am missing a bunch of characters and events#that would be necessary for the plot to function coherently...#This is my fault. I made a premise that requires a lot of things i don't know how to draw and people that i don't know how they act.#and somehow despite being all ive thought about for 2 years it hasnt resolved this...#it's ridiculous.....#i saw someone go from concepts to having an actual comic in the span of a year while i cant even settle on a medium for no good reason.....#Once upon a time this was supposed to be a crappy rpg maker 2003 game i thoguht i'd spend like a month on.#The rpg maker game isn't even in my memory anymore. That was like a different dimension to me.#mypost

i love playing a dnd character so fucked up that other characters start to come up with psychological theories about them
#my guy has a bad relationship with risk and death#and two of the other characters are theorizing that he's desperate for approval#like babe that is Not It but i love where you're going with this#'i don't think he's processing the fact that he died' wrong! he processed it! he just processed it badly!#it's fun i already did everything i intended to with the character so now i just get to fuck about and make him worse#especially since the dm didn't leave any room in his plot for him to resolve his issues even slightly#i mean he doesn't gamble anymore#but that is very much not his biggest problem
