Another plume moth! This is one of the prettiest species of them in my opinion, the very creatively named "white plume moth". it looks so silky and feathery!!

critter log #3:
morning glory plume moth (aka T moth)
scientific name: emmelina monodactyla
today’s find was very odd, i have never seen these moths before! plume moths keep their wings tightly rolled up while they’re at rest (as seen in the photo above), but spread them to look like fluffy plumes when they’re ready for flight. as you may have assumed, their flight is pretty weak. these moths can be found resting near lights, as many other moths are! plume moth caterpillars feed on plants such as flowers and leaves. because of this, they can become pests. these moths are commonly found throughout north america and europe!

jade! i dont follow many bug blogs yet, but ive found the strangest little guy in my house with no idea what they are. i figured you might be the best person to ask (if you dont mind!)
my partner and i were thinking he might be some sort of stick but, but arent sure. size wise, theyd sit nicely on top of a quarter.
they can also fly
Oh! This looks like a kind of plume moth to me! Amazingly strange little guys, which I've also encountered before (the one in the linked post is pure white but they can be closer to brown as well!)

Stangeia xerodes is a moth from a family we classify as plume moths :) Plume moths are all of the T shaped moths, some of them are surprisingly pretty! (most are pretty boring lol)
I posted one before, here's another one! They mainly live in south east asia and australia, though you can find similar plume moths pretty much anywhere
