Meet Sweaty. He’s a 42 year old absol and lives with his human mom in Castelia, Unova.

Some Absol headcanons:

I do think part of why Absols have such a bad rep among people is partially due to folklore of them appearing before and after horrific disasters, but also because they have such a human face. Imagine seeing this mf in the dark woods watching you. Something that looks human, but is not. Something that sounds human, but is NOT. Follow this by a horrific landslide.

Do you see the problem. Humans remember human faces. Predators sometimes mimic their prey. Absols have the truly unfortunate evolutionary quirk of falling into both categories.

So yes, there was a huge stigma against absols which led to a pretty severe population decline.

In modern day (much like wolves), Absols have become media darlings, in large thanks to a the help of pokemon rangers who utilize Absol’s ability to sense weather as an indicator when to evacuate. They are a very long lived species and need lots of intense exercise, often declaring huge swaths of land as their personal territories. Absols also tend to get very anxious when they feel they do not have enough space, so keeping them with other pokemon’s usually a no no.

Sweaty’s mom used to be a pokemon ranger and found Sweaty stuck in a refrigerator. Nowadays, she lets him free roam—much to the chagrin of every other person in the area. Sweaty in turn makes himself a nuisance to the local icecream store, begging for treats.

(The kids love him. He comes home with ink and paint stained everywhere and it’s a nightmare to clean.)

Zoroarks!!! The first two are characters belonging to @hoofpeet that I just fell in love with. I tried to do justice to their designs but also put my own spin on them!

I like Gimmighoul, there isn't a ghost type that I hate

but also, I just wanted to redesign it for fun :>

I'm still not great with lighting/shading from below, but this was some fun practice! also you can probably tell I just winged it with the chest form's box with no ref.

I think Gimmighoul would be big fans of rich people's homes, finding their treasures and coins and swarming in the cracks and walls of particularly wealthy estates. Common pests to them, but they're just little scavengers trying to build pretty little homes for themselves, y'know?

Squawkabilly redesign to convey the rockabilly style more. They're still punk and linger in groups, but they also now have a prominent love for music. They hold dance battles and their cry sounds like it was played on a record.

woe, Gladion redesign be upon ye

Other hcs that i made up while editing:

- has a small hobby in drawing/painting w watercolours as a passtime

- likes rock music + all subgenres of rock. also a bit of metal (piers fan maybe,,,)

- got his porygon Z from pure coincidence while sneaking around the Aether foundation. it kind of just,,, latched onto him and didn’t leave.

- cracks his knuckles often (moreso out of habit than anything else)

- absolutely loves murder mysteries and won’t admit he likes dramas too

- genuinely talkative when he wants to be + if he’s comfortable. He prefers listening to people speak. super blunt most of the time but tries not to seem mean in front of younger kids

^ sucks with words/hardly talkative otherwise so he shows appreciation via acts of service, etc

- i’m a personal “Gladion leaves Alola to become a trainer” believer than a “Aether foundation leader Gladion” believer. get my boy OUTTA THERE

- has a noticeable/large birthmark surrounding his left eye. probably the reason he grew his hair out like that (maybe Lusamine has a similar birthmark …… and he hates the similarity…… )

- less of a hc and actually more canon if anything; surprisingly good w kids. have u seen him with kiawe’s younger sister AGH

- slightly uneasy around ghost pkmn for no other reason than the fact they find him easy to scare

- basically nocturnal

- team skull grunts find him kind of scary/intimidating lmfao

- easiest way to make friends w him is via pokemon battles

feraligatr's design always bugged me, its shape just looked,, awkward and squished? the XY 3d model doesn't do it any favors either,, so I doodled this for fun!!1!

I gor more Poke redesigns!! Some more favorable than others!!

Emboar- Leaned more onto the Barbarian Pig design instead of the other way they were leading us. Still could use tweaking but im happy with the concept!!

Sneasler - More of a Search and Rescue than the original! The Ribbon on their head flares when they re trying to get someones attention. Fluffier for warmth, and the angled bottom claws to keep balance when clinging to cliffsides!

Golurk- less of a Redesign and more of a Variant! Fire/Ground, after a Volcano erupted hundreds of tbousands of years ago in Alola. Fueled by their urge to protect the huamns, the Golurk abandoned their ghost typing to outfit the lava around them, making them into the Fire/Ground type you see here.

Krabby/Kingler: this one was just to make them less real life crabs and more crab-pokemon! I love them dearly X3

Bruxish: a friend pointed out that they were most likely based on the humuhumunukunukuapua'a but i leaned away from that and went more Betta fish, cutting down on the Yellow and to make it a less blaring look!
