I've been thinking about Caroline Polachek's Desire I Want to Turn Into You (DIWTTIY) a LOT, I can tell because Kits has started calling her "Caro Polo" in a funny singsong voice that implies we're talking about the -thing- again. I will try to write all the loosely assembled thoughts down a in a continue reading jump. Maybe. I dunno.

Erstwhile indie darling, goose screamer, k*yne scooper and acclaimed quirked-up vocalist Caro Polo has stopped explaining, intellectualising, labeling, making sense! I'm sure there's theory or a name for this idea or reoccurring expression(ism) ;) because of course there's always a framework, context and philosophy that one must know of and employ effectively to place their work in the culture - but good pop music doesn't make sense, or have a basis in theory, and it will not explain itself!

I think PONY by Ginuwine is the most clear example, to mind, like you get it... you get what he's on about, the vibe could not be more legible, tbh, but the song lyrics themselves are not in clear support of the thesis, nor is the odd farting bass, but nonetheless you vibe!

It’s giving C'mon stop trying to hit me and hit me. Morpheus in the Matrix, who was of course shitting on the mother toilet when he said that.

I dunno for sure, really the intentionality of it or her work generally, and it is beside the point — to be encoded or decoded merely makes it a signal, not a sign, not a message, not a meaning. Is this all in there or are you projecting? It doesn't matter so much, as it is a successful attempt at unfocussing that third mythic eye*, feeling that intangible gestalt enough that she's tuning into the desperate leitmotifs of the current moment and amplifying/refracting them through this soaring album.

Community-Admins können jetzt Mitglieder zu Moderator:innen ernennen. Moderator:innen können Einträge löschen. Wir sind noch dabei, die Funktion auszubauen, also könnte in den nächsten Wochen einiges dazukommen!

Wir haben den API-Endpunkt für Blogeinträge (EN) aktualisiert, um die Optionen zur Angabe einer Sortierreihenfolge und einer „after“-Zeit hinzuzufügen, die die derzeitige Option zur Anzeige von Einträgen von „before“ einer bestimmten Zeit ergänzen. Wenn du die Option „before“ verwendest, werden die Einträge standardmäßig in umgekehrt chronologischer Reihenfolge („absteigend“) sortiert. Mit „after“ und „sort = asc“ kannst du die Einträge stattdessen ab einem bestimmten Zeitpunkt vom ältesten zum neuesten sortieren.

Da Nebenblogs bislang nicht in Communitys posten können, wird jetzt immer dein Hauptblog ausgewählt, wenn du in Communitys postest.

Bestimmte Aktivitäten, die von Communitys ausgehen, z. B. Erwähnungen in Einträgen und Kommentaren und bald auch Einladungen, zählen nun zu deinen ungelesenen Aktivitäten.

Notes de mise à jour

🌟 Nouveautés

Une première vague de réglages est à présent disponible pour les administrateurs de communautés. Il est possible de modifier le nom, l'accroche, l'avatar, l'image d'en-tête, les tags et également la description. Pour ce faire, il suffit de cliquer sur le lien Paramètres situé dans la partie droite de la communauté sur le Web, ou d'utiliser le menu contextuel dans l'application.

Le design de l'écran pop-up d'invitation à une communauté a été remodelé ; il inclut désormais le nombre restant d'invitations disponibles.

L'en-tête des communautés précise dorénavant si cette dernière est publique ou privée.

Les administrateurs de communautés peuvent à présent promouvoir d'autres membres au titre de modérateurs. Pour le moment, les modérateurs peuvent seulement supprimer des billets, mais davantage de privilèges leur seront octroyés dans les prochaines semaines !

Des modifications ont été apportées à la gestion des billets publiés dans notre API (page en anglais), et ce, afin d'ajouter une option permettant de préciser un ordre de tri et un paramètre "after" pour obtenir les billets "ultérieurs" à une période donnée. Cette option complète le paramètre "before" existant (pour des billets "antérieurs" à une période donnée). En utilisant le paramètre "before" (réglage par défaut), les billets sont listés par ordre antéchronologique (ou "descending", tri descendant du plus récent au plus ancien). Avec l'option "after" complétée par la variable de tri "sort = asc" (ou tri "ascendant", c.-à-d. chronologique), il est maintenant possible de trier les billets du plus ancien au plus récent à partir de la période donnée.

Puisqu'il n'est pas encore possible de publier des billets à partir d'un blog supplémentaire dans les communautés, le blog principal est dorénavant toujours sélectionné par défaut.

Certaines activités issues des communautés, telles que les mentions dans des billets/commentaires ou prochainement via les invitations, sont désormais comptabilisées dans le total des activités non lues de la section Trafic.

Nos équipes sont au fait que la piste audio de certaines publicités est lue automatiquement dans l'application Android. Un correctif est dans les tuyaux.

Nous travaillons au renommage des "Labels communautaires" en "Classificateurs de contenu" sur l'ensemble de nos plateformes officielles (Web, iOS et Android), ainsi qu'au changement d'intitulé des "Règles communautaires" en "Règles d'utilisation". Ces modifications ont pour but d'éviter une possible confusion avec la nouvelle fonction Communautés. Veuillez noter que ces divers articles du Centre d'aide sont pour la plupart uniquement proposés en anglais. La version française arrive !

the baby of ATTRACTION. has a crush on shining armor (twilight sparkle’s brother) from my little pony, but refuses to admit it. a literal child, is 15 years old. after RELENTLESS questioning from pae-ri and yn about who her crush is, she was inspired to write omg!, which led to FURTHER questioning, and when she revealed that it was shining armor, she was never shunned so quickly- this very quickly became an inside joke in the fandom after it was revealed who she wrote the song about. was a trainee at FNCE for about a year, but switched to HYBE. HATES it when people call her by her full name, only allows the members and her manager to call her by her name. trained for two years before debuting.

I had high hopes for my shoot with Husker Du when I arrived at Wollman Auditorium at Columbia University in NYC to interview and photograph the band in February of 1986. The band were touring with Soul Asylum, just before the release of Candy Apple Grey, their first major label album. I would end up with photos of just 2/3 of the band, as bassist Greg Norton made himself scarce, briefly popping his head through the doorway of the room backstage before disappearing.

Husker Du were, at that point, one of my favorite groups. I'd seen them already - a fantastically loud show in the basement of a seedy Toronto hotel that went a long way to shaving off an initial chunk of my hearing. My interview was incredibly earnest; I wanted the band to help solve the problems I was having during a particularly anarchic stretch of my life (I was only 21 at the time, a recent college dropout.) Since a band photo was out of the question, I ended up shooting candid portraits of Bob Mould and Grant Hart while they sat around the dressing room, with just a couple of frames of the two men together.

Hart was more lively - laughing and throwing the band's tour manager over his back. Mould was more quiet and circumspect. Even through my fanboi haze I could sense some tension in the group; they would in fact break up a year later, but didn't announce the end of the band until 1988. Without a photo of the whole band, I considered my shoot a failure and didn't give the shots much play when I looked at my career on my old blog. But today I can see these photos as a document, made during a crucial period in Husker Du's history and at very near the edge of my technical competence, barely a year after I bought my first camera.

since you aren’t aware of them yet… that’s  PAYSON “PACEY” GRIMES wandering around in hollow creek! from what i know they’ve lived in hollow creek for TWENTY4 YEARS.  i’m also aware of the fact that they work as a COMIC  STORE  EMPLOYEE. in town! but if you were to ask me, what i see when i think about them are: CANVAS  HIGHTOPS  STAINED  BY  DIRT  AND  GRASS,  BAGGY  SHIRTS  AND  HOODIES  TUCKED  INTO  JEANS,  ATLAS  PERSONIFIED  —  HOLDING  THE  WEIGHT  OF  THE  WORLD  SOLELY  ON  HER  SHOULDERS,  THINKING  OF  PUNS  FOR  EVERY  CONVERSATION,  &  AN  OVERWHELMING  FEAR  OF  BEING  ALONE if anything, i feel like they could be WITTY  AND  OBSERVANT & RECKLESS  AND  SELF-DESTRUCTIVE. it’s really weird, though… because they seem to be hiding something that no one else knows. but i sure do! and that is CLOSED FILE.. REDACTED. wild, huh? i know. they’re hoping no one will ever find out. and the very last thing that i’d say about them is that they’re mainly known to be THE ANTI-HERO. just keep a lookout! who knows if they’re putting on a facade!

trigger warnings ahead for abuse and neglect, crime and the criminal justice system, drinking, alcohol and drug use.

a study in pacey cannot begin until one delves deeper into the history of the grimes family — tainted reputations that stem from her paternal grandparents. pacey remembers a life surrounded by an army of siblings and cousins, all scattered around the low - income neighborhood she grew up in. at first glance, she remembers and cherishes the memories but, peering into the details reveals a problematic environment that she attempts to correct and heal from even today. grandparents that pit their grandkids against each other, putting them to work around their home, venomous intent in their actions and speech. it's easy to understand the nature of their parents after spending an hour in the company of toxic grandparents.

taking inspiration from the television series shameless, the grimes kids spent most of their childhood contributing to the bills in any way they could — while they had parents that loved them, their parents loved each other and themselves a little more, and often ventured out of town to party, leaving the kids to fend for themselves. after their mom passed away when pacey was in her mid - teens, their dad took off without a world for a few years. within recent years he's returned and has been making an attempt to reconnect. to the older grimes' children's dismays, their youngest siblings were taken in to live with him despite not raising them.

pacey was the type of kid that always had bumps, cuts, and bruises that littered her skin; and dirt that stained her clothes, racing around the town and surrounding wooded areas for play. her imagination always ran wild, a universe of her own existing before her very eyes, and for her eyes only. she found herself getting into trouble quite often, rebelling for the fun of it, or even just to get a smile or laugh out of her friends.

best friend / platonic soulmate : cain perez , the one she shares a brain cell with. they've been best friends since the sandbox days and are now nearly inseparable. taking inspiration from scott and stiles from teen wolf, they often find themselves in trouble and do so because they went out looking for it. they have a core friend group that they also do everything with, but the bond between them runs deep to their souls.

core friend group : reece canosa + open , the ones she would go to war for. these two are apart of her core friend group with herself and her best friend. they have weekly get togethers, always go out as a group, and support each other through everything. the four of them are the definition of stupidity when they're together.

work family : open to co-workers , just people that she works with at the comic book store and loves with her whole heart. they complain about the woes of work and problematic coworkers, and they organize outings for bonding. just wholesome workplace vibes.

cousins : open to two , these can be by blood or because their parents were extremely close, so they consider each other as family. keep in mind, if they're cousins by blood through the grimes side of the family, the grimes grandparents were very emotionally, psychologically, and physically abusive toward their kids and grandkids prior to their deaths.

aunts & uncles : open to four , these can be by blood or because their parents were extremely close, so they consider each other as family.

the invisible string : open to one femme character , a person completely different from her and that's always existed in the background of her life, and she theirs. they recognize each other from those brief moments of shared eye contact, a force that tempts them to draw near, but then continuing on with their lives as though nothing ever happened. they live completely different lives — the two of them would never make sense. and yet, they've crossed paths once again, this time in their young adult lives. a chance encounter that grew into a long conversation, and a promise to meet again soon. strong feelings linger already but it's far too soon to do anything about it, isn't it ?

Freak Scene: The Story of Dinosaur Jr. Written & Directed by Philipp Virus (2021)

I think the biggest realization that has become apparent to me after watching “Freak Scene: The Story of Dinosaur Jr.” is the space between musical artists and their audiences. When I consider who the zeitgeisty college radio (i.e. punk/indie) luminaries were in the 80s and 90s, it is impossible to avoid mentioning any/all of these particular folks who appear in the film: Dinosaur Jr., Sonic Youth, Husker Du, Minutemen, and Black Flag. And that in and of itself appears to be more unifying to us (as their audience fanbase) than it may have been for those bands who were working together at the time! (A scene of freaks, for sure.)

The variety of testimonials in the film makes it very apparent that there is nothing else in the world that these particular people could have become but rock musicians. I simply don’t see any matter of choice for them in this regard. No, it wasn’t fun to be in the band! No, Lou Barlow never thought that J Mascic even liked him most of the time! And, no, Kim Gordon’s elaborate suggestion that it was all just one big “psychotic family” is not nearly as tongue-in-cheek as we might ordinarily be inclined to think upon initial consideration.

Bottom line: We needed them to make these records and they needed to make them for us. (And that should be enough.)

Who cares if booking agents regretted hosting their early shows? Or if J buried every infectious melody in an array of distortion because he needed it to sound obtuse and evasive (despite being well crafted nuggets of pure pop)?

There was no self-consciousness or concern for actually being liked by us, by each other, or by anyone really! It’s just some inexplicable calling that began when they met in high school yet continues to ebb and flow as long as they let it -- despite substantially numerous rough patches. (And that will always be enough.)

This particular retelling of the SST records legacy feels different than listening to their masterpiece recording "You're Living All Over Me" or even just re-reading Michael Azerrads’ book “Our Band Could Be Your Life” – which is likely the best companion text to accompany this flick.

And, afterwards, we are simply left contemplating this most honest and humble personification of the punk/indie rock legacy and its illusory “alternative” (to mainstream) label. (Which for me is more than enough.)

They also do not have an official "sound". It's noise music for the most parts and that's their unique selling point

They're allowed quite a lot of flexibility in their production and songs because 3RACHA writes and produces their music {fun fact: JYP himself said that he is nervous about bringing any tracks to them since they do have a lot of control of what goes out under them)

Multiple members are multi-lingual or bi-lingual

They are currently the faces of Tommy Hilfiger and it was under the label that they became the first K-pop group to walk the 2024 MET Gala red carpet as a whole group

Madame Putiphar Readalong. Book Two, Chapter Fourteen:

-a short transition chapter, and an unusually happy (if foreshadow-y) one

-etymology, architecture, love= cult of friendship + contemplation of nature, insignificant 16th century façades, architecture as a text, lover’s reunions.  (english translation by @sainteverge available here!!)

Debby arrives in France, ignoring the beauties that surround her, both because she’s too preoccupied by Pat and meeting him, but she also feels bad at enjoying the sights without having him by her side.  

She is only focused on her thoughts of him, (while Patrick was very sad of being separated, both of her and their country, he had to rapidly focus on finding a job/protectors)(noting this because it's a rare case of Borel adhering to traditional gender roles, Pat forced to live outwardly, think of securing their future, and Debby living only for love and feeling)

Borel then, taunts his readers rather cruelly i gotta say, knowing how things go... On Debbie’s arrival she hears a good omen, the singing of a nightingale*. This announces happiness forwarded by God (and this is indeed a very happy chapter for them, but,,, will it last?) The nightingale’s song also works as a key (@counterwiddershins told me the word rossignol also means skeleton key in French) to Debby’s past, the same song links their past and present, and the two Celtic countries France and Ireland.

She thinks of their Love as a cult of friendship entwined with contemplation of nature... This idea might have revolutionary echoes. Montaigne’s essay On Friendship (very influential on the Romantics, George Sand among them) takes inspiration from La Boétie’s clandestinely published essay  on Voluntary Servitude, (written, Montaigne says, “in honor of liberty against tyrants”) where he develops a civic concept of friendship-fraternity as a sign of equality between all men, and a sign of responsibility to love and help ailing brothers, and a responsibility to fight for freedom. This friendship is rooted on Nature, since all men, La Boétie says are brothers made from the same mold. When cult of friendship + nature pop up I can’t help thinking if this civic concept of friendship is behind those words, although the French Rev happened in between, so there are probably fresher references in between as well XD)

Debby tries and fails to sleep although she is exhausted from the journey (fixating on Patrick has her ignoring her instinctual responses, just like she couldn't think of/really see the landscape without knowing how he was)

The next day she arrives at the Quai du Louvre, and in seeing the gallery, which the narrator labels insignificant, (it does not live up to Pétrus’ gothic/rococo taste) she runs to it and starts counting until she reaches the convened sixth column. The building unfolds before her like a papyrus. Its walls are mute to all except to her, they carry a voice that will define her fate. She has the key to decipher the arcane writings on the building, a secret only her and her lover/co-conspirator are privy of. She finds his name and address. Falls into a quasi mystic-religious ecstasy, kissing his words/his name deliriously, almost like a praying person on the Wailing Wall. (we have spoken before about how Love and their worship of each other is a huge part of their religiousness)

She sends the footman for Patrick, tries to return to the inn but gets lost many times, so he finds him waiting for her once she arrives.

Once again they share a kiss that seems to transport them outside of time and space. Only after that, Patrick notices her mourning dress, and is saddened by it, and she in her turn notices his uniform, and realizes how much it suits him. They catch up on their respective adventures, Debby omits telling him of the trial and his being condemned to death if he ever returned (which, she should have mentioned, just in case) Pat sets her up in their new home. After which they both go to church to thank the lord, ask for his blessing and protection. It’s interesting how fast her perspective of France has already shifted. After having seen very little, and hearing Patrick’s adventures, she asks for protection for two strangers on a dissolute land... (foreshadowing...). France is no longer idealized. They spend the whole night in prayer. Their 1st night together in months.

The chapter comes to a close with a few more details on the dynamics of their domestic life: Patrick devoted to her -and the endless voluptuousness of love- any free time his work allowed him.

We hear a bit more of Fitz-Harris, who had been presented on chapter 12 as an old friend Patrick was glad to be reunited with. He is a jealous, petty sort of person, he grows cold towards Pat, since the colonel showed him appreciation and affection. He also envies his beauty, his brains, and his wife. Even the naif Patrick notices he cannot trust Fitz-Harris without reserves, since he is a mysterious chatterbox, always gossiping, always opening up to strangers and oversharing secrets in a way that seems to be against Fitz-Harris’ own interests ...

We’re done for this week, this was a short and unusually happy chapter, even if it already planted the seeds for dark things to come...

Found on the Philomela entry on wikipedia, a greek heroine that got transformed into a nightingale after being raped and mutilated by her sister’s brother. 🛠 Behobene Bugs

Wir haben ein Problem behoben, das verhinderte, dass angeheizte Einträge stummgeschaltet werden konnten. Dies betrifft diejenigen, die die Stummschaltung von Einträgen im Web nutzen können, oder die die mobilen Apps verwenden.

In den optionalen Dashboard-Tabs wie "Abonnierte Blogs" und "Was du verpasst hast" werden die Einstellungen für Community Labels nun korrekt berücksichtigt.

Es wurde ein Fehler behoben, bei dem der Overlay-Text für das Community Label außerhalb des Eintrags im Blog-Netzwerk angezeigt wurde. Das Overlay wird nun über dem gesamten Blog angezeigt und kann ausgeblendet werden.

Im Web verschwindet jetzt der kleine Hinweis, der dich zum Hinzufügen von Tags auffordert, sobald du mit der Eingabe beginnst.

Im Firefox-Browser erscheint nun eine Fehlermeldung, wenn du versuchst, dich mit einer falschen E-Mail-Adresse oder einem falschen Passwort anzumelden (vorher schlug die Anmeldung einfach fehl).

Wir haben einige Farben im Anmelde- und Registrierungs-Pop-up im Web in den Paletten Kybernetik und Kürbis geändert, damit der Text besser lesbar ist.

Im Web haben wir weitere Probleme mit Tastaturkürzeln behoben. Wir haben auch die Anleitung für die Tastaturkürzel entsprechend aktualisiert (du findest sie im Dropdown-Menü deines Accounts). Außerdem wird bei den Tastaturkürzeln nicht mehr zwischen Groß- und Kleinschreibung unterschieden.

Im Zusammenhang mit dem letzten Punkt war es vorübergehend nicht möglich, ein Fragezeichen einzugeben. Das wurde schnell behoben.

Im Web haben wir die Anzeige des ausgewählten Knotens im Reblog-Diagramm verbessert, damit man besser erkennen kann, welchen man angeklickt hat.

Pour les utilisateurs de Tumblr via une appli Web autonome à partir de Chrome, l'icône de cette dernière se voit désormais ornée d'une pastille indiquant les billets non lus, tout comme c'était déjà le cas dans le titre de la page.

Des changements ont été apportés à la fonction "Désactiver les notifications" billet par billet dans l'application, qui évite à présent la création de nouvelles activités dans la section Trafic en complément de la mise en sourdine des notifications Push. La fonctionnalité "Reblographie" a été améliorée sur le Web. Correction d'un problème qui a masqué les questions anonymes de la boîte de réception durant un court laps de temps. Aucune question de ce type n'a été perdue : elles étaient temporairement invisibles.

Correction d'une anomalie qui pouvait afficher les questions posées par des blogs suspendus/désactivés dans les boîtes de réception de certains utilisateurs.

Un important correctif concernant les raccourcis clavier a été déployé sur le Web. Ce dernier améliore la prise en charge des claviers non-QWERTY.

Correction d'un bug sur le Web qui pouvait enclencher de façon répétée une action lorsque la touche d'un raccourci clavier était maintenue enfoncée (par exemple, maintenir la touche R pour rebloguer). Dorénavant, même si la touche d'un raccourci clavier est maintenue enfoncée, son action ne sera réalisée qu'une seule fois, à moins qu'elle n'ait été relâchée et pressée à nouveau.

Correction sur le Web de l'espacement autour des labels "Donateur" dans les notes qui a été réduit afin de s'homogénéiser avec les autres labels similaires déjà présents dans cette section.

Correction d'un bug qui pouvait ne pas trier correctement les reblogs dans les notes d'un billet après modification du type de tri.

Als reactie op een verzoek dat hier is gedaan, hebben we de link naar de avatarafbeelding toegevoegd aan de NPF-reeksitems die door onze API worden geleverd. Deze functie is vooral handig voor gebruikers die NPF/JSON in hun blogsjablonen willen gebruiken.

Sommige gebruikers experimenteren momenteel met emoji-vrije labels op dashboardtabbladen.

Op het web zijn regenboogvinkjes nu niet alleen zichtbaar in het bericht zelf, maar ook in de header van blogpagina's.

Op het web wordt er nu onder aan een bericht zonder reacties ‘0 notities’ weergegeven. Dit klikbare label was voorheen verborgen.

Wanneer je de deeloptie ‘Link kopiëren’ gebruikt, wordt at.tumblr.com niet langer gebruikt om snelkoppelingen te maken.

Als je op het mobiele web naar de URL van een bepaald bericht gaat, wordt de content van dat bericht nu weergegeven en wordt de blogheader bovenaan verborgen.

Op het mobiele web is de blauwe markering die bij het openen van een afbeelding in een bericht kort verscheen niet meer zichtbaar.

Er is een probleem opgelost op het web waardoor de instelling Vinkjes weergeven verdween wanneer deze was uitgeschakeld.

Bij het bekijken van een specifiek tabblad op het web is het nu gecentreerd in de tabbalk in plaats van mogelijk verborgen in de scrollbare lijst met tabbladen.

Een probleem opgelost waardoor de vinkjes van iedereen blauw werden weergegeven in plaats van in regenboogkleuren.

We hebben een probleem opgelost waardoor alle nieuwe reacties op berichten werden verborgen. De reacties zijn nu weer zichtbaar.

Er was een scrollprobleem in de iOS-app waardoor de feed Volgend tijdens het scrollen naar de volgende reeks berichten kon verspringen wanneer deze was geladen. Deze bug is nu verholpen en de update zou zeer binnenkort beschikbaar moeten zijn.

We zijn op de hoogte van een probleem in de Android-app waardoor het dashboardtabblad 'Voor jou' soms niet volledig wordt geladen. Het probleem wordt opgelost door de app te sluiten en opnieuw te starten, maar we werken aan een betere oplossing.

We zijn ons er ook van bewust dat de optie om in te stellen wie Blaze voor je bericht kan activeren in de iOS-app zichtbaar is, maar deze optie werkt nog niet. We zijn hier nog mee bezig en verwachten je hier binnenkort meer informatie over te kunnen geven!

Hyperpop : la pop maximaliste

Je ne peux pas m’empêcher de parler de musique, mais pour ne pas m’éloigner du design graphique, je vais cette semaine consacrer mon article de blog à l’esthétique de l’hyperpop.

Mais qu’est-ce que c’est l’hyperpop ? C’est un micro-genre musical de la pop qui a été lancé en 2013 par la création du label PC Music. L’hyperpop reprend les codes de la pop, mais en les poussant à l’extrême. J’ai le sentiment que les visuels et les musiques de ce style se coordonnent parfaitement ; je sais à quoi m’attendre en regardant une pochette d’album hyperpop et nous allons essayer de décortiquer ces visuels conjointement à la musique.

Une des premières choses notables en ce qui concerne l’hyperpop, est que très souvent, les artistes créent depuis leur chambre, sans matériel particulier et uniquement avec leur ordinateur. Cela est le cas pour la musique, avec l’utilisation récurrente de bruits atypiques et celle du vocodeur. Cet aspect va aussi se retrouver dans les visuels hyperpop, crées de chez soi sans compétence précise d’un logiciel et d’une technique. Quand on regarde les deux pochettes, du groupe The Pom-Poms et Gupi, il n’y a pas une grande technicité visuelle, on pourrait se dire que n’importe qui aurait pu le faire.

Deuxième caractéristique de l’hyperpop : la reprise des codes pop, fait poussés à l’extrême. C’est la culture du web et des références internet qui fait circuler l’hyperpop, notamment avec l’application Tik Tok. Vroom Vroom de Charli XCX a particulièrement tourné sur les réseaux sociaux par exemple.

Visuellement, l’hyperpop se traduit par une tendance maximaliste, et reprend l'esthétique des années 2000. Les visuels des singles de Slayyyter en font la démonstration avec les charms, des petits pendentifs à accrocher à son gré très présents dans les années 2000.

Sur les pochettes d’album, on laisse place à la typographie chromée et déformée, pas d’espace blanc, beaucoup de dégradé et des couleurs saturées. Cette surcharge d’informations témoigne d’une difficulté à faire entendre sa voix. Effectivement, l’hyperpop est aussi politique et décloisonne le genre. Beaucoup d’artistes hyperpop sont des femmes, des personnes transgenres ; la communauté LGBTQ+ trouve des représentations dans cette musique. Ces minorités trouvent une manière de se faire entendre. Ce besoin de faire entendre sa voix se retrouve dans les visuels surchargés et maximalistes.

L’utilisation de la photographie est très présente aussi pour mettre en avant une féminité exacerbée qui questionne la notion de genre. L’artiste SOPHIE, femme transgenre, pionnière de l’hyperpop, malheureusement décédée en 2021, en fait la démonstration sur la pochette d’album Oil of Every Pearl's Un-Insides datant de 2018. Chez Slayyyter, pour son album Troubled Paradise, sorti en 2021, elle est photographiée dans une esthétique très girly, avec des couleurs saturées et l’utilisation de la typographie chromée, tout comme chez LIZ pour son album datant de 2019, intitulé Planet Y2K (nom qui fait directement référence au mouvement Y2K, qui désigne le passage à l’an 2000).

Le label PC Music a été fondé par A. G. Cook., un producteur de renom dans l’hyperpop. C’est ce label de musique qui a révolutionné visuellement ce genre et qui produit de nombreux artistes cités plus haut (LIZ, Namasenda, caro♡…). L’hyperpop, qui n’est pas mainstream, tend de plus en plus à se faire entendre : A. G. Cook a notamment produit une des musiques présentes dans le dernier album de Beyoncé (ALL UP IN YOUR MIND). Certaines musiques hyperpop peuvent paraître très particulières quand on les écoute pour la première fois et j’aimerais justement pouvoir réécouter certaines chansons comme si je ne les avais jamais écoutées avant.
