ok so i hc the cars' "model year" to be when they reach maturity around ages 20-25. and i was curious what ages the characters could realistically be in 2024. so here are some of my hcs + thought processes:
(on cars being 'born' or being kids at some point: see Coriander Widetrack, Maddy McGear, and Cruz's backstory.)
(baseline: cars 1 takes place in late 2005, the year it was scheduled to release before the delay (also confirmed in cars VG epilogue). by this logic, cars 3 takes place partly in late 2017/mainly early 2018, the year it was scheduled to release before it swapped releases with TS4).
cruz + jackson: ~31
2017 CRS sports coupe. 2017 one of a kind stock car. likely born early 90's. racers irl dont reach cup levels til theyve proven themselves for many years in lower divisions. cruz already had a successful career as a top-level PT in 2018. my guess is they were around age 25 in cars 3. (jackson is probably younger than cruz if anything, but they do have the same model year still. its not an exact science.)
lightning: ~43
2006 one of a kind stock car. we know lightning raced in the regionals (book excerpt) before the cup series- he spent his younger years trying to prove himself. he is based on a G4 nascar stock car (specifically the 2002 monte carlo ss [image source: cars 1 art book]) (bonus post), which ran until 2007.
cal: ~42 (lol)
cal is implied to have been a rookie in the 2006 or 2007 season, taking up the dinoco team spot after strip retired in 2005. his body style resembles the G5 and the G4 nascar body types.
bobby and brick: ~40
bobby and brick have more modern bodystyles, and thus are implied to have been rookies after 2007 when the G4 retired. they are either based on the COT (G5), but they more closely resemble G6's, which was the type being raced while cars 3 was in production.
sally: ~47
2002 porsche carerra 911 (+ additional bc half the early 00's sources died of link rot). at the very least she is 4 years older than lightning. she went to 7 years of law school and was practicing law in CA. after that, she had time to restart her life and refurbish an entire motel. shes probably closer to 50.
mater: ~66
(i will edit this post with his passport when i find the op who posted the image bc i dont wanna repost the image but its from the cars 2 credits crawl iirc?)
mack: ~59
aprox a 1985 mack superliner mk.2. my source on this is that i looked at superliners from the eighties in like 2019 and this was the closest one visually to mack iirc. but with many of the cars it may not be exact!
westley (OC): ~30ish
roger (OC): ~39ish
might add more characters another time but this is a good start!

TOP 10 CARS WHAT WE SAW AT THE PORSCHE MUSEUM IN STUTTGART
(HINT: THEY'RE ALL PORSCHE)
Stuttgart, Germany - For fanatics of sports cars and especially Porsche cars, the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart, Germany is home to a multitude of exhibitions and galleries to seduce those who enter. Racing cars, original, classic, legendary models, they are all here and you need more than a day to cover them all. And again, since there are about 600 models in the museum's collection, they can not all come back at the same time, so you might not even be able to see it all in one, two or even three days, because the models are exhibited by rotation in the museum. This is what we remember most about our visit.
Austro-Daimler Bergmeister 1932
It is a front wheel drive, the engine is placed in front, it does not look like a typical Porsche and we do not find the designation "Porsche" anywhere. This model still has its place in the museum, because even if Ferdinand Porsche had left Austro-Daimler at the time of the launch of the Bergmeister, it was he who played a decisive role in its development until the day he left the society.

356 # 001 1948
While the 356 form may be familiar to many, take a close look at the very first copy of the model and you may notice something different. Namely, there is a little more room behind the cockpit, because unlike all the 356 that followed (and all 911 too), it does not have its engine at the rear but at the front .
Although the mid-engine alignment could be intrinsically better in the dynamic sense, it also meant that there was no room for a bench seat in the 356, which Ferdinand "Butzi" Porsche wanted. The transition to the rear engine solved the problem, and suddenly a legend was born.

550 Spyder 1954
This model has a lot of experience. On the one hand, it is the car that established Porsche's reputation in racing by placing third overall in the 1954 Carerra Panamericana, against a much more powerful competition. On the other hand, it was the car James Dean drove when he died in 1955.

356 Cup "Ferdinand" 1950
Visually very striking with its black paint is its classic flat-shaped dog wheels, the Ferdinand Cup was named after Ferdinand Porsche, to whom it was offered as a gift for its 75th anniversary. Although she now lives a quiet retirement in the collection in Stuttgart, this car was not designed for a museum; it has more than 400,000 km at its odometer, accumulated during tests for other models 356.

917 1969
When the will is there: Twenty-five of these cars were built in just a few months, because Porsche had to build this number in order to be eligible to participate in car races in Europe. We will never know if Porsche was aware at the time that these would be the first wave of a legendary sports car lineup, but one thing is for sure: sports and racing car enthusiasts are thrilled with the result .

917 PA Spyder 1969
Eight cylinders are not enough for you? Well, how about sticking two to a common crank, for a V16 with a top speed of 360 km / h? Yes, it should do the trick.

917K
There have been many versions of the short-tailed 917 Kurzhecks over the years - you can see two here. But this one is a bit special - not because of its unique caudal tail fins, but rather because of what you can not see: the magnesium frame underneath. Porsche was so secretive about technology that in order to deceive officials of the Western Automobile Club, they even kept drivers Gijs van Lennep and Helmut Marko in the dark.

917 LH 1970
With the same wheelbase, but a longer tail, the LH "Langheck" was one of the fastest cars to have covered the circuit of Le Mans, its elongated bodywork allowing nearly 390 km / h on the famous French circuit and an average speed of around 240 km / h. If she did not manage to beat her 917K brother during the race, the car was able to lose with a lot of panache.

917/20 1971
Her car was nicknamed "Pink Pig" thanks to its inflated body panels designed to combine the best of what the 917's long-tailed and short-tailed versions offered. His uninspiring appearance prompted the car's painters to draw pork cuts directly onto his body panels. She did not finish the race that year at Le Mans, but on the other hand she was one of the most popular cars - and photographed.

917/30 1973
The 917 follow one after the other at the Stuttgart Museum, and the highlight is the 917/30, with a 12-cylinder turbocharger capable of about 1600 horsepower and a maximum top speed of 355 km / h. Plus, it's spectacular in its Sunoco blue colors.

911 Carrera RSR Turbo 2.1 1974
2.1 liters may seem like little for a sports car with big wings and spitting fire, but thanks to the supercharging, this 2.1 was good for 500 hp and a top speed of 300 km / h. Plus, with such a huge rear wing, you can not go wrong ...

961 1985
Although the Porsche 959 painted in the blue, gold and red classic Rothman is known mostly as a rally car that participated in the Paris-Dakar rally, did you know that it was also a sports car racing? Designated "961", it was the first all-wheel-drive car to race in Le Mans. On top of that, he was led to a win in his class and a seventh-place overall.

Speaking of rally cars ...
As mentioned, we associate the 959 especially with the rally race, but it was not the only Porsche to work in this racing format. As seen here, everything from the 911 to the 924 front-engine, has participated in rallies at one time or another.

Sally Carrera
Although it is simply a full-size model of the popular character from the animated cartoon series Cars, she wears the character's famous tattoo. It must be worth something ...

Carrera GT Concept 2003
Here is what is according to several the ultimate Porsche road car and the latest "analog" supercar. The Carrera GT was the ultimate Porsche, a showcase of everything Porsche had done since its inception 50 years ago. Born out of a failed race car program, the carbon-tube V10 - and manual transmission only, with a shifter designed to recall all those 917 models of yesteryear - this car could reach more than 300 km / h.

Hybrid version of the 2011 911 GT3 R
Like road cars, race cars are growing at a blistering speed. With electric vehicles coming out on the horizon, Porsche decided it was time to show what it could do in this direction on the track, against the competition that was bent on conventional power. The GT3 R Hybrid houses two electric motors on its front axle, but instead of a group of batteries for power generation, it uses an electric steering wheel, which helps save weight.

911 # 1,000,000, 2017
Painted in "Irish Green" - like the very first Porsche 910 Porsche - and sporting a classic Porsche emblem and wooden steering wheel, this car marks a milestone not only in the world of Porsche, but in the world of sports cars.
911 RSR 2018 "Sau"
This outdoor painting tells you something? It should, because it evokes the "Pink Pig" 917/20 that we saw earlier, painted to celebrate the 70 years of Porsche in the world of racing. Unlike the 917/20, however, he won by winning his class at Le Mans.

Porsche Classic Catering
If you've ever wondered what a 550 under this body looks like, or what a 12-cylinder flat engine looks like, then this museum is for you. In the basement of the museum is the shop where all these beautiful cars are kept in perfect condition.

Perez Enters Grizedale Stages With M-Sport
Porsche Carerra Cup GB frontrunner Seb Perez will enter this weekend’s Grizedale Stages in an M-Sport prepared Ford Fiesta R5 MK2.
Perez, who entered the Rally Dijious Bo in Mallorca last month in a historic Porsche 911 RS, has tested the car at M-Sport’s headquarters in Cumbria today (December 4), before Saturday’s rally in the Lake District.
Although Perez has focused mainly on the racetrack…
