Does anyone remember *those* Hetalia fans that used to draw personified versions of the post-Soviet countries as a one big happy family with Russia being “the father” (barf)? And the countries that now actively hate Russia as “the rebellious teenagers”? Or worse when they would make cringey comics/fanfics about the fall of the Soviet Union and turn into a fucking pity party for Russia and his “ex-friends” (colonies).
Why the hell did the fandom encourage that shit?

Creatures in places
Don’t waste your time. Go to places before they cease to exist. No matter if it’s an old building, wild nature area outside of your town, tiny smelly store with vintage furniture, jewelry or vinyl records, cemetery full of old sculptures.
Nothing you can physically touch in your current life is eternal.

Me rn looking at European fans who go to small gigs with a great setlists, while I can't even get my money back for a canceled concert in Russia and more likely won't see Green Day ever again here:

The worst thing is when someone seems to have good opinions and then one time it turns out they are a tankie.

We think of politics as a straight line with far left and far right being opposite sides of the line, but it’s really a circle and the far left and far right are very similar eg communism and fascism in practice are very similar.
i’m familiar with the horseshoe theory, yes. I tend to agree, but it’s complicated because your views on different political systems very much depend on the country you grew up in as well tbh

If you don't like communism, you better give up all your workplace benefits. No more days off, no more worker's comp, no more unions, no more pay raises, no more livable wages, in fact you better not expect to be paid at all. You wouldn't have any of these things if it weren't for communists and socialists threatening businessmen. And I guarantee you that your average trade union harmed just as many grandparents as your average communist party member.
Are you like... brain dead or something?
"You know what, I don't care that communism quite literally killed tens of thousands of people in your country alone! So what if it destroyed your country's agriculture, nature, trade, education, morale, future and basically everything it touched. I never lived through it and I clearly know more about it than you. Communism is great and if you dare to criticize it, you better go and demand to not get paid in your workplace! In fact, why don't you go and fuck yourself, while you are at it!"

what was your favourite cartoon/show growing up?
probably "nu, pogodi!" or the russian version of winnie the pooh (vinni pukh or mikė pūkuotukas in lithuanian) lol i grew up on a lot of old russian cartoons bc that's what we saw on tv. i was also obsessed with masha and the bear, but i wouldn't say it was my favourite haha

having the urge to make my story set in a different country than mine be as accurate to that country as possible and then finding out that it doesnt have the weird little corrupt things that my country has and thus would make a more boring setting . horrible .
