guyeppel: I see @arcticmonkeys just played @arsenal’s Emirates stadium. Would have been ace to been there at my football clubs ground. Instead here’s a photograph of the first time I saw the band live. Leeds Festival, 2005. We knew straight off the bat they were destined for big things. They stormed through those tests bands face from the public and critics. Sophomore album slump, no chance. They just evolved every album. Anyway, here’s Alex Turner as a youth still, checking out the tent as it just got more full until it was spilling out in the thousands. Was making photographs in the pit and then myself and @andrewkendall recognized the increasing crowd & their exuberance, so we ended up on stage for the second half of the set & witnessed the “Monkeys mania” from that vantage point. I can’t locate these images currently. They may be lost forever sadly. But this survived along with a handful more. (Posted on 19/06/2023)
