@diverse-hearts inquired: "Birthday girl! Look at the camera!". He'd taken her back to the dom, preseting a mini feast that had been prepared in her name. They were the dorm who best knew how to celebrate birthdays after all! - Cater
Kira’s Birthday!! (11/03/2022)—No Longer Accepting
Yes, Kira would be having a birthday party tonight in her own dorm, but Cater had insisted she come over to Heartslabyul for a few hours...and enjoy the surprise party there waiting for her. And surprised she was. Here she thought that Heartslabyul only did those “unbirthday parties” of theirs rather than normal parties, but she supposed she was drastically mistaken. Birthdays in Diasomnia were all rather calm and contained, yes including cake and gifts but not so much games and the like. But Heartslabyul was so lively... Similar to Diasomnia in ways only Kira could see--such as the importance of greenery--but drastically different in all others.
And to Kira’s surprise, she was actually having a lot of fun. She preferred the quiet and calm of Diasomnia celebrations, but this was so wonderful as well. The thought that Cater would tell everyone to throw together a party for someone of a different dorm, the beautiful decorations they all put together, and of course the sheer effort it no doubt took to throw such a wonderful party. Kira was still in awe, and the celebration was far from over. In all honesty, Kira couldn’t remember the last time she felt so joyful in the presence of relative strangers. And that showed despite the hood she wore.
Her boyfriend’s voice caused the girl’s head to turn in his direction, a breeze blowing by strong enough to pull her hood out of the way and allow the sunlight to expose her beautiful features. Turquoise hues saw the phone in his hands, Kira realizing what he was doing in a split second. And while she may usually shy away from pictures and such, now? Now, she simply laughed and gave a bright smile for the camera.

A Very Merry Unbirthday to Not-So-Merry Birthdays
Yep. Just to make “Ulysses” even …uh, better, something came to my attention recently: As the nineteenth episode of the season*, it took place on Gabrielle’s birthday. Poor wabbit. :( Too, it happened just a few weeks after “The Quest,” which is when most fans believe Xena and Gabrielle got together romantically. SUPER tsk tsk, Xena! 😞 / 😠/ 🥲
*The nineteenth episodes of seasons 4 and 6 celebrated Gabrielle's birthday: “Takes One to Know One” + “Many Happy Returns.” This also means that “Altared States” happened on the bard’s birthday. What a way to spend it, eh? But if you think that and “Ulysses” are bad, then consider how Gabrielle nearly died in “Tsunami” and then really died—Well, got entombed in ice for the next quarter-century, anyway, starting—on her birthday with “Looking Death in the Eye”! Yikes!
Just out of curiosity, when was Xena’s birthday? It wasn’t ever celebrated on the show, right? Was anyone else’s? I don’t think so. Hmm…
Double Bonus, a little behind-the-scenes info and a comedic moment: I make my collages from presets I have saved in a word-processor document. (I don’t know if that’s the best or most intuitive way to go, but it works for me. I can replace and move the images around without reworking the basic image sizes and formations too much. Friggin screenshots! They always have black edges that I have to edit out. 😑 Ahem. ANYway!) The last time I used the particular formation of this post’s collage was while editing Them Bones and Boneheads. Partway through- Well, let’s just say that even across seasons and posts, Gabrielle REALLY doesn’t like the idea of Ulysses and Xena together. 😆🤣😆 But also, DAMN, Xena! Mean! 🤣
A very merry unbirthday to you, nevertheless, sweet wabbit! X")
