It's not as bad as it sounds. She's not really his girlfriend.

I'll try to explain.

We're colleagues, sort of. (Me and her— I'd rather starve to death than work for my brother.)

Last month, someone took a picture of us leaving the office. I was only walking her to her car but the person who took the picture wanted to imply that we were dating.

And that wouldn't have been an easy rumour for her to handle, so I got my brother (identical twin) to post a picture with her on his socials.

Obviously, just one picture wouldn't work to convince anyone, so they've been meeting up a couple times a week (they have similar interests, so they were friends already) to be seen together.

Now here's the issue— I never saw her like that before, and I thought it was just fucking annoying to watch people be lovey dovey, fake or not... but one of my other colleagues said it sounded like I was jealous.

And fuck, I am.

Do you think she'd be mad if I asked her out? I reacted pretty badly to the original picture. And I'm worried my brother likes her for real (those photos they're posting are kind of convincing...)

This is gonna be pretty long so buckle up!

Natsu is the one Lucy experiences the most

It's hard to tell when Natsu is having a nightmare because he doesn't scream or thrash around

The only way Lucy can tell is because he gets warmer and his grip on her or whatever he's holding tightens

Natsu never talks about them. Lucy has tried to ask him, but he just pretends he doesn't remember

Lucy has learned that talking to him usually helps best. Hearing her voice has a calming effect on him

She tried to cuddle up to him, but he does heat up a lot so she usually has to settle for sitting next to Natsu, knowing he can smell her

Happy is the easiest for Lucy to help

He talks during his. The most heartbreaking part for Lucy is when she hears him crying her name

Lucy always pulls him into her arms and whispers reassuringly to him

Happy doesn't usually talk about his either.

Unless it's about Lucy, then in the morning he flies up to her and tells her he loves her

Similar to Natsu, Gray's temperature changes when he has nightmares. His is more extreme than Natsu's tho and can result in legit freezing the space around him

He also starts breathing heavy and even hyperventilates at times

Lucy always wakes him up. She's learned how to wake him gently but in the beginning he would wake up screaming

His screams would wake everyone else up and he'd usually respond by walking off and leaving them confused

Lucy figured out that if she got him up without the panic. Gray would talk to her about it

He'd never go into too much detail, but it would be enough for Lucy to reassure him

Erza's always resulted in her crying. Lucy would wake to Erza's gentle sobs and have to figure out if the woman was awake or not

Erza is a light sleeper so Lucy usually brushes the tears from Erza's eyes and she wakes up

That is if Lucy wakes up before the nightmares wake Erza. It's usually a 50/50 shot

Either way, when both women are awake they will just sit next to each other in the darkness

Sometimes Erza will talk about it. Lucy never says anything. She just sits and listens

Erza usually rests her head on Lucy's shoulder or Lucy will hug her tightly depending on the night

Once Erza has stopped shaking, they head back to bed. Lucy usually waits until she's sure Erza is sleeping peacefully

Wendy's nightmares are all over the place. Sometimes she sobs, others she screams, or hyperventilates. In those cases everyone wakes up and fusses over her

But some nights Wendy will wake up Lucy with tear stains on her cheeks and ask to talk

They usually take a walk and Wendy vents out her fears and trauma. They hold hands as they walk around their camp

Lucy knows the best thing for Wendy is fresh air

Wendy also appreciates any and all advice from Lucy

Lucy also pays attention to Carla's nightmares.

Carla usually twitches and moves around when she's having a bad dream

She never wakes up from the nightmares

Lucy will usually just picks the sleeping cat up and places her in Wendy's arms

That's usually enough to calm Carla down

Every once in awhile, Carla will wake up as Lucy moves her. They never speak. Lucy will just give her an understanding smile and place Wendy's arm around Carla

gx: it's not Great with what it does with asuka and rei but it's somehow still less offensive than all of the other ygos below it in this list. asuka gets to be pretty cool and again, even tho there's several episodes about her being courted at least they let her come out on top whenever guys are trying to get to her and they never do weird sexual shit with her in a way that is as obvious as in the other yugiohs. YES THE BAR IS THAT LOW I THINK! SAD! and she gets as much as spotlight as say, chazz, kenzan, sho, or the likes. if you disagree btw you were not watching yugioh gx and should try to pay attention to women again. asuka is a really good fleshed character by gx standards. rei is also pretty fun, i love her, she has her little moments and she's Not limited to her love shtick, she has really fun beef and duel with chazz for example and has a neat role in s3 and all that. ALL THINGS CONSIDERED: ITS PRETTY NICE! they did an ok job! its very hobbyani and shounen but its not offensive w/ the women!

5d's: like.. it started off really good then they just kind of forget about aki. i will never let them live down the "benchwarmer" thing and guess what. I normally don't care and just move on because sometimes people don't seem to use their brain. (In this post you'll see me try to be as nice as possible and not out right rude and mean lol)

Sometimes people forget that Feyre was kidnapped. She hated faeries, she hated their guts and she didn't trust Tamlin and Lucien for the longest time. And they didn't give her a reason to!!!

I think people have read so many shallow romantacy that once a character -specially female- shows some personality and back-bone and hasn't been written for the male character's pleasure, for the author to create two character, just for them to write these two in a smut scene as soon as possible. They want two shallow character with no personality whatsoever and want to just read their smut!! They don't care about the plot and when they see a character with a little depth their brain short circuiting.

You can't stand her because she had the mind of her own? Because she didn't trust her kidnapper instantly because he's hot and "gave" her everything? You can't stand her because she was constantly worried for her family and wanted to make sure they're safe even tho her family came across as not caring and she kept her promise to the mother who neglected her all her life?

I think people often ignore these things because they see everything surface level. That's why most women can't say anything to anyone because no one would believe them. (specially if there's no physical abuse) They would find it strange because why would you have a problem with such "fine man"? They would find the women ungrateful.

And I hate tiktok for advertising acotar as a spicy book as if it doesn't deal with trauma and has dark themes instead of just the smut. I'm pretty sure this person was mad that they didn't get their smuts from this book after reading 50% of it...

I think this post is a long time coming. But also, maybe 1 - someone has pointers to help and 2 - maybe someone else is struggling similarly and would like to know said pointers too.

I have been quite the recluse the past few months. From everyone, really. Why that is why I’m making this post. If you feel like I’ve been drawing away, you’re not wrong. I have. I’ve not been doing too good since… I’d say October. A lot of events have turned my world around for one, realizing what I am living in and not what I thought I was living in. That was something on its own…. At the same time, I was going through the steps to figure out if I have ADHD. I found out a couple months ago that yes, indeed, I do have ADHD.

The diagnosis was first a relief: finally, I now know there’s nothing wrong with me, I’m just wired different. However, relief soon turned into contempt. I became very, very angry. I am very angry. I just reached my 40’s. For at least 35+ years, I’ve been degraded and hurt by the people who should have protected me, understood me, especially in my childhood. Teachers, principals and parents of other children took part in this bullying campaign their children had going, only because I wasn’t following the ‘norms’. I endured trauma so great that I can barely function today.

I mean, I look at the videos of my childhood and I see it immediately: I’m not like the other kids. I’m more hyper, excited, and I just want everyone to take part in the fun, but I’m too much for it. It’s right there. I was called names by adults, and scolded for not doing things the way neurotypical people would. I was called lazy. I was told I don’t care for anyone but myself when, in fact, I have always put everyone ahead of me because I would rather see them happy than be happy myself. So you can imagine how difficult it was to hear that I am selfish and don’t care for anyone else…

I’m also angry at the current people in my life. Some of which have told me to ‘fix’ myself because I was an inconvenience they didn’t want to deal with. So I tried EVERY way to do so, and of course that didn’t work because I was trying to put bandaids on symptoms rather than help with what was the actual problem, but then when I asked for help, I was shunned away like I didn’t deserve it. I lost an entire decade (my late 20’s and my 30’s) asking myself what the hell is wrong with me, why am I such a terrible person, and why can’t I do anything right, and spending my 30’s walking on eggshells everywhere AND in the rpc because I was connection deprived and needed everyone to love me, which led to nefarious people taking advantage and hurt me further. (that’s a post for another day.)

Now here’s the main problem: I’m so angry I want to hurt someone. Not physically, but in every other way. It doesn’t matter who you are, I just want to lash out, whoever you are, friend or otherwise. An example: a friend made a new original character that is actually perfectly fine and pretty good, it’s a great OC! — but inside all I want to do is destroy that break their love for the OC and ruin it for them. Just… because. And that’s NOT okay. The good news is that I see it, I realize it. Which is why I have isolated myself. None of my friends deserve this. But I am angry. I am enraged, because I feel I’ve lost most of my life ‘fixing’ myself until I masked so hard I didn’t even realize until it slipped at 28. I know exactly when it slipped too.

Also, considering the kind of world we live in, I feel like I’ve lived past the mid-mark of my life. I’m not sure I’ll live up to 50 at this point. And it’s not fair. It’s not fair at all that I had to go through all this and still suffer. So yes, I’m very angry. But I also don’t WANT to hurt anyone. Especially not the people I care for… This is why I have not been on disco.rd. I have removed FB (because I wanted to for a long time tho lol ), tiktok… And have mostly removed myself from public spaces.

If you have pointers or ideas on how to get past that anger, please, please share. I don’t really know what to do with it. I don’t know how to tame it. And it scares me tbh. I don’t want to be like this. This isn’t me… but it’s so hard not to be angry…

So… yah: if I don’t respond on disco or otherwise, or not right away, it’s not you, I’m the one stepping away so I won’t say something I really don’t mean just for the sake of harming someone because I can’t accept what has been done to me.

just reread the series, and on first pass (tho i plan to go back searching for this) it seems like the seven come off as... less Tangible than the Old Gods/R'hllor. like melisandre births shadow assassins. bloodraven Exists. clearly there's something to these gods. maybe not what their worshipper's think, but like. a Power, for sure.

By contrast, the seven seem to exist solely in the minds of those who believe in them. Trials by combat seem to be 50/50. Tyrion win's Lysa's but loses Cersei's. the faith of the seven are notoriously corrupt, and after the sparrow's takeover, is going full-tilt crazy fundamentalist.

Yet these gods bring a great deal of comfort to the characters who believe in them. And I can't help but think about Septon Meribald, wandering the war-torn riverlands barefoot to give out oranges and flour and alms to those in need. That kind of religious-charity seems to be exclusive to the seven.

So given all this... idk, what's their deal? Are they "gods as a reflection of humanity"? "gods as a reflection of society"? I feel like "they were always 100% fake and anyone who ever prayed to them was praying to nothing" is a little too grimdark for grrm, but idk!

i am not a good meta poster or essayist so my apologies for what will surely be a poor answer 😭 so introduction. grrm is lapsed catholic and the seven is like soo barely removed from catholicism. also rhllor/old gods doing things in text doesnt necessarily make them, the gods, real. the magic is certainly real but that doesnt mean the gods themselves are real. and so that goes into the whole Do the gods of planetos actually exist at all. so the faith isnt actually alone in having the Are the gods real? question

the faith is based on faith right, belief without necessarily having proof. it's pretty unique actually for that. the old gods have weirwoods and dreams, rhllor has shadowbinding, but the faith doesnt even have martyrdom/saints/incorruptibility/miracles/etc. its purely a social function; hierarchy, laws, morality and life-after-death existentialism.

i think this is what grrm is exploring, another brick in the wall of Society. like how is religion used as a hammer for hierarchy and how does it interact with power, with patriarchy, with classism. yes, the faith descends into fundamentalism but its also one of the only ways the peasant class can organise and attack the establishment. its social mobility in a way they cant otherwise access.

so i guess in all my rambling, i'd agree with the assessment that its 'gods as a reflection of society/humanity'. i dont think the fact that theyre 100% fake is bleak, really. i think all religions are fake irl but that doesnt take away from the beauty and love and joy they can bring to people. for every cruel septa/on, there's a meribald who brings peace and forgiveness.

I've been watching a lot of 70s-80s mystery/cop shows thanks to tubi/pluto streaming and I've noticed a trope that seems to have died out. IDK what to call it other than "the escaped nazi" story. It feels like just about every Detective series did their version of it (even Star Trek w/ "The Conscience of the King"). For obvious reasons of the passing of time, I don't think I recall a new example for ages. Tho, x-men first class nodded to it, and Brian Singer did a movie twisting the theme based off a Stephen King story. The likelihood of finding a living 'original nazi' is pretty unlikely and the generation of folx writing those tv plots have similarly passed on. I can't think of any stock plot that has inherented its purpose.

Interestingly, the earliest example of this kind of story that I can find is from 1945, the year the Nazis were defeated: the Hate Genius, a Doc Savage novel. In this one, it is revealed that Hitler escaped his extremely anticlimactic death, and was hiding in Europe with intent to rebuild and start another war all over again, which in 1945, with a destroyed Europe, was a legitimate fear. In retrospect, it was funny that Doc's cousin Pat Savage was hit on by Hitler in disguise.

It's actually interesting to read the seldom read post-war Doc Savage novels because they essentially had all 50s anxieties in extremely embryonic and early form. For example, there was a Doc Savage novel he investigated "Foo Fighters," which is the World War II name for UFOs and flying saucers. This was in 1946, a year before Kenneth Arnold's sighting started the UFO craze.

As a lover of lost old movies and silent German Cinema, it's always interesting to me how they keep on finding copies of "lost" UFA-studio and German Expressionist movies in Argentina. In fact, Argentina seems to be the most reliable place these movies come up. And the frequent response from a lot of suprised cinephiles and collectors, the kind who know a lot about movies but not everything else, is to say, "wow, I have no idea how a copy of a German movie got all the way to Argentina!" Oh really now? No idea? Are you sure?

History is a lot better at recording heroism than it is about anxieties in the background, and the reason the escaped Nazi story was such a big deal was because there was a widespread belief in the decades after World War II that it would all start all over again, just as World War I led to World War II.

As for Apt Pupil, it's very interesting to rewatch that movie in light of what we know about director Bryan Singer's disturbing personal life and numerous credible accusations (known now to every dog on the street of Los Angeles), including several on the set of that film. Because Apt Pupil doesn't come off as a movie about Nazism, but about pedophilia. It's a movie about an unnatural connection between an older man and a young boy who spend all their time together and keep their relationship secret.

The context of this is that a girl named Millie from the city got stuck on the side of the road and a guy named Ben (hot sexy farmer) helped drive her to his town to the mechanic (also super hot sexy) they spend a few day together and now they making jam cuz Ben grows strawberries

I didn't mind though, the silence was nice. It allowed me to look at the house more. It was quite big since it housed 2 other men, Jackie and Grant, they were sweet fellas and kind enough to let me stay here until Jackie fixed my car.

I hopped off the counter and walked towards Ben, he took notice of this but ignored me so I got closer til my chin rested on his shoulder.

"Nah, you’re fine, plus if ya burn yourself I'll kiss it better,"  I said with a chuckle, a joke to lighten the old grump but instead of rolling his eyes or pushing me off, he froze and looked at me with wide eyes and his ears a bright red and looked back to the jam he was pouring into a jar. He slowly tilted further and further from the jar and closer to his hand, my eyes went wide and I pulled  his hand away "WAIT! I was joking, if you wanted a kiss, could've just asked"

He burnt even redder now, turning his head as far away from me as possible, under his breath he mumbled and 'oh' and I laughed. I turned his head to face to face me and tried to stare into his eyes but he averted contact, clearly very embarrassed. I giggled again and kissed his bottom lip since I was too short to reach his full mouth.

That got his attention since he gasped and looked at me with wide eyes, now his whole face was red, from his ears to his neck and probably lower, "Do you want me to do it again?"
