If you liked the prey (2022) movie why not consider donating to help support the revival and learning effort of the Comanche language. I donated the price of my movie ticket. The movie released on Hulu if you want to watch first.

Instinct
Tumblr media
Feral Predator x Reader
Summary: Instead of hunting him, you join him.
Trying to be on the same level as him was impossible.
He was a being from another planet, a completely different creature.
Yet, somehow, he didn't even look your way. Not when you followed him in the woods, not when you helped him by killing those men.
He didn't mind you being close to him.
Often, you'd sit around a fire during the night, and he would join you, giving you food.
He was a creature drawn by the thrill of the hunt.
Trying to look for the worthiest opponent. He surely didn't expect to find you.
You impressed him, in ways he didn't know he could be impressed. He worked purely on instinct, and his instinct was to kill, while yours was to survive and to care.
You were not like the others on the planet, you were loyal to him. Not to your own kind, but to a foreign being.
And for him, that was impressive.
Your skills were average, you were kind of good with the knife. But you were an amazing caretaker.  You helped him with his wounds better than his own magical spray ever could.
You also smelled very nice and were soft.
When he first touched your skin, he was surprised to feel just how soft and delicate it was.
And it awakened a part in him that he pushed down for many many many years.
The feeling of protectiveness and possession. The feeling of having something that is his.
He wasn't like the other Yautja, he didn't feel the need to court the female before claiming her. He didn't need your permission, he wanted you, and he got you.
He wasn't sure why he needed you in the first place, but then he would look at you and just accept it. His mind might not know but his instincts did.
And so did his heart.
He liked the way you got closer to him each night. He liked how you slept beside him, and he liked how one day, you started to sleep on his chest.
He was surprisingly warm.
Little did you know he could hide his warmth during hunts, and he choose to not when you slept so you could be comfortable.
He wanted to keep you, and he will keep you.
First, after he killed a snake, he made a necklace for you out of its bones.
You wore the necklace not knowing what it meant to wear a Yautja's gift.
In their eyes, it was the proof that the female was theirs.
And so, you became his. Not like you had a problem with that after a group of men destroyed your home, you had no one and no where to go.
So actually, being with him was something you did like. He didn't speak but he didn't hurt you either, he protected you from animals.
Could this be love? Love for something you weren't even sure what it was?
Could you love a being so different?
Of course, you could. Different was one thing, but he made you feel things you didn't even know existed, safe was one of them.
So yes, what if you loved this weird lizard-like creature? What if you had feelings?
You knew he had the same, it showed from the way he behaved. The way he pulled you closer during colder nights, the way he gave you food and the gifts he brought to you.
You told him you prefer flowers, but who were you to deny his gifts? If it's a wolf's skull, then so be it. You never questioned his ways, and he would never question yours.
One day, he left you in a cave, it was raining, but he needed to go on a hunt as you ran out of food.
When he arrived back, he had a wound, a rather nasty one right on his shoulder. It bleeding really badly as well.
So, as he sat down close to you, he knew what you would do, and he let you. You cleaned off his green blood and put some medicine on the wound, trying your best to not hurt him.
He didn't even flinch not once as you helped him. After, you cooked the meat he got back with himself and handed him a portion. You knew his wound wasn't from an animal. He found humans, the wound on his shoulder was from an arrow.
You looked at him as the thunder rolled outside the cave, you moved to sit by his side, and you placed your hand on his chest as you moved to sleep with him.
He had his arm around you, holding you close just as he did every other night.
You knew he would be fine, fighting some humans was nothing to a being like him
You just wondered, would he ever have enough? Would he ever just want to go back to his planet? Would he leave you behind?
As if he felt your worries, he pulled you a tad bit closer, he clicked with his mouth and you slowly started to fall asleep in the warmth.
Your mind was too tired to think of such things at the moment.

Something like Prey except the Yautja takes it as a courting thing (cause you can’t tell me a race like that doesn’t court through battling each other and bringing trophies and such to their intended) and instead of killing the main, backs off and retreats.
The main is super confused and just keeps getting more confused when random animal skulls keep showing up on his doorstep and whatnot. Yautja is just trying to impress him and doesnt exactly know how to do so in human ways.
Yautja showing someone mercy (or vice versa) is a sign that they have an interest in the being they've just given mercy to.
So either main gives the Yautja mercy because they don't really see a point in killing something that hasn't done anything (at least to their knowledge) and just because they're different. Yautja takes it as interest and, he won't lie, he's also interested and if the situation was reversed he fully would have shown mercy first.

Spear and Fang vs Predator
Tumblr media
I watched Prey a few days ago, and it was awesome! The Feral Predator especially is what I feel is a natural successor to the original!
Thought it’d make for a neat crossover with Primal!

Bros I'm crying.
The prey movie was insane.
It was actually insane watching a young female Native American hunter take down a predator using mostly her wits.
It was so fucking smart setting the movie in that era, not just bc it makes it appropriate to focus on native American culture and the Comanche people, which is awesome, but also because it just created this rich tension.
You're watching a cloaked, highly advanced alien soldier from another planet basically tear through the American wilderness, and it gets wrekt by a teenager with arrows and tomahawks.
I can't shut up about how brilliant that decision was, and how well done.
Really.
Just a stellar idea for a horror/sci Fi/ action movie.
It was simple and effective.
A native American hunter vs an alien warrior with a sense of honor.
She has tomahawks and arrows. He has bullshit tech, but he does have a sense of honor and also.
He can be beaten through wits. Through determination. Gumption.
She had all that and more.
She was the better hunter.
The movie is also gorgeously shot and choreographed! I really lost my mind watching Naru fight. I really was vibrating when the predator was tearing white guys to shreds.
I was shitting crying and vomiting when they had their final showdown.
Just couldn't bear how great it was.
