I would pay SO much money to see someone edit a Merlin episode but from Arthur's perspective. Like we only see whatever it is Arthur sees cause I don't think this fandom understands how absolutely batshit insane Merlin was/is ad just how much he actually got away with Arthur was hella tolerant. My favorite Merthur dynamic, especially in slow-burn fics is, once they’ve had their “oh” moments. Arthur is doing backflips around the fact that he’s in love with a man, let alone his manservant, let alone Merlin. And then there’s Merlin, who takes one look inward and is like “well, this might as well happen,” and then tucks this secret away inside him with the rest of them. Because, well, his life is already Arthur’s, his heart might as well be too.

Meanwhile, Arthur is screaming crying throwing up, and nobody knows why, least of all Merlin, but damn if he’s not going to give figuring it out his best shot. Cue Merlin performing various acts of sorcery on a passed out Arthur to find out why his king can’t get a full sentence out in his presence without getting flustered.

It would be funny if after finally becoming a dragonlord Merlin kept finding dragon eggs and just goes to Arthur and be like "Hold this for a minute, I'll be back" then runs off to do chores or fight off another sorcerer attack with Arthur just standing there with a "wtf? Why am I holding this giant egg?! Is this a dragon egg!!?"

Then Merlin returns and thanks Arthur with a quick kiss on the cheek (my boy don't realise he did it) before running off with his egg to find a safe place to store them; this goes on for a while, Arthur wants to question Merlin but if he does would Merlin stop giving him kisses on the cheek? Because he might not admit it out loud, he likes it and looks forward to it everytime Merlin unconsciously does it which is whenever he holds those giant eggs or when he does something unexpectedly nice for his manservant.

I don't know if this if a fic already but building on that one trope. The one where after arthur dies they ALL get sent back to the day merlin comes to camelot.

That, but merlin is the only one who doesn't know what has happened in the last timeline. (To reverse time has to give up his memories.)

And everyone is acting weird like the prince is glaring at his father and father's ward and is being really nice to me.

The king is keeps glaring at me but everytime he tries to be mean to me the prince just puts his hand on his sword. Gwen my new best friend is trying to set me up with my employer. And I just met these nice (and good looking) men. I think gwaine and lancelot know about my magic. Maybe the king too but I'm not sure since the prince doesn't let him talk to me.

The king's ward is kinda avoiding me for some reason, but she's kinda warming up to me.

The other servant keep treating me like a lord for some reason.

When I went to visit my mother there was a man named balinor who is actually my father and is a fucking dragonlord.

The dragon under the castle is kinda weird, keeps wanting me to bring a sword or something.

I might do something with this in the future, it will take me while.

When you're reading a merthur fic and while in Merlin's pov the author hits you with the "My King" like yes babe you get it!!
