PARALOUSE (Bug/Water), SQUAKER (Water) & PARASCYLLA (Bug/Ghost) PARALOUSE (Parasite/Louse/Perilous) is a small bug type pokemon that lives among the corals, it awaits for a fish pokemon with a mout big enough to jump in, where it will eat and replace that pokemon's tongue. Once it has gained enough strenght by weakening its host it will evolve
PARASCYLLA (Parasite/Scylla) the "Mermaid" pokemon. It emerges from its host's mouth, the one it completely fills. At this point its host is competely taken over, becoming PARASCYLLA's new tail. To further keep its "tail" in place, it will stick its lower legs through the fish's gills, securing it in place.
SQUAKER (Squawk/Cracker) is a parrot fish pokemon that inhabits the same coral reef where PARALOUSE can be found, they love to feed on coral using their strong beaks to cut and swallow large chunks of it, which sadly makes it the perfect victim for PARALOUSE. How ever if SQUAKER manages to avoid becoming infected by PARALOUSE it can evolve into the dangerous PARROTEER (Parrot/Privateer)
Tumblr media
PARROTEER (Water/Dark) is PARASCYLLA's natural predator, it preys upon PARASCYLLA with extreme prejudice, using its massive size and hard-as-rock head to knock them out, it then uses its bolt cutter-like beak to cut them in half by the waist, feeding only on the upper bug half and leaving the tails to sink to the bottom
PARALOUSE is based on the cymothoa exigua, a type of parasitic isopod that attached to fishes mouths replacing their tongues
Tumblr media
PARASCYLLA is based on a twisted version of a mermaid with some inspiration is the Greek monster Scylla, a creature with the upper torso of a woman, but a lower body made out of heads and tails
Tumblr media
SQUAKER is based on the Steephead parrotfish and its colors are based on the Scarlet Macaw
Tumblr media Tumblr media
PARROTEER is based on the Humphead parrotfish and its colors are based on the Dracula Parrot, as well as being based on a Pirate
Tumblr media Tumblr media
PARROTEER hunting and feeding only on PARASCYLLA is a reference to Pirates hunting mermaids as represented in some myths and popular media, like Peter Pan or Pirates of the Caribbean
At the moment, SQUAKER is the only suitable pokemon available in PARALOUSE's habitat for it to attach, but, if more pokemon were avaible it could attach to them as long as they met certain criteria: -Being a Fish (No mammals, reptiles of crustaceans) -Having a big enoug mouth Here are some examples of PARASCYLLA using other fish pokemons as its tail

The only exception to this rule being Gygantamax PARASCYLLA

A drunken English soldier accidentally giving away Francis Drake's planned ambush on the Spanish silver train at Venta Cruces in February 1573. Drake's expedition had trekked through the jungle to attack the train as it left from Panama City, capturing several mules laden with silver before escaping. Art by the great Angus McBride.

Nikolai Lantsov HC: He totally has one of those baby carriers that he wears his and zoyas child in around the palace. Like just imagine him in the war room using the baby's hands to point and saying everything in a baby voice.

everyone: we really like your characters and want to know more
tart: i dont think anyones really interested :(
ok but dont except anything actually cool!!!!! first things first i made a playlist for all the songs tentatively named "creatures" for lack of a better name. here it is apollo death machine is now its forever name second things second its important to understand im not telling an overarching epic like ferry does with pafl or like literally any other vocaloposter with a story driven narrative. the songs are supposed to work in pairs and tell you small things about the characters BUT AT THE SAME TIME the songs each individually stand for a idea or concept that i wrote the song around. the pairings are as follows: enigma - tbd firing line - tbd theory of i - privateer draw5 - kerosene
each song provides as an antithesis for another but also they have underlying meanings that people have yet to figure out unless ive told them. i like the sorta double meaning thing where yes its telling you a little about the characters and relation but then there's also this other thing that totally unrelated to the characters so that's how i continue how to write these songs.
third things third here are the characters. the part youve all be waiting for. in order of appearence:
Tumblr media
this is europa. illustrated by meem. appears in privateer. he is very quiet and generally just goes with the flow. he is meant to be a counterpart of andrei idk we'll get into that later
Tumblr media
this is maya also illustrated by meem. appears in firing line (which i think i might remake at some point). she is the only character of this batch who doesn't have a direct counterpart because she is just so cool. she likes to call herself the reaper.
Tumblr media
this is mikhail, illustrated by ferry. appears in enigma and kerosene! he looks very nice but he is not really a good person actually. he has a counterpart but i have yet to write him into the "story" yet. im sure someone can put two and two together and figure out where he falls.
Tumblr media
finally, this is andrei :) he is easily persuaded and is actually a very soft spoken individual despite what draw5 sounds like. he has very poor eyesight. he appears in theory of i and draw5.
fourth things fourth the general "narrative" i have is that these songs tell you about the characters and how they feel about eachother. the general consensus between all the songs (because i went through like five iterations of ideas) is that there are two timelines whom our characters resides. maya exists in both as the same person and only misha has the power to travel between both. hijinks ensue. thank you to meem for helping me design and name these characters love you mwah

The "Decatur" and "Dominica" in moderate gale (port view) by Worden Wood (American, 1880–1943) (Yale Art Gallery)
Happy War of 1812 Wednesday to those who celebrate: here's a painting of a single ship action that is surprisingly overlooked in many accounts of the naval War of 1812, despite being an American victory. HMS Dominica was a small British schooner commanded by Lieutenant Barrett. In the summer of 1813, Dominica encountered the American privateer Decatur off Bermuda.
Rather than try to run, as most privateers would when chased by a Royal Navy vessel, Decatur's commander decided he would engage. He was Dominique Diron, an experienced French privateersman, as bold as he was cocky. The two engaged in a fierce, close-quarters action, and by the end 'not more than three men' in fighting shape were left on the British schooner. Her lieutenant was killed and the midshipman next in command, Nichols, was badly wounded. The losses on board were so horrific, and the command team so thoroughly destroyed, that the crew had not even managed to throw their secret signal code book overboard before capture. Charles Simpson, a British official who worked to secure parole for Nichols and the surviving crewmen, blamed Lieutenant Barrett's inexperience with schooners (coupled with Diron's long privateering experience) for the embarrassing defeat.
— Nicholas James Kaizer, Revenge in the Name of Honour: The Royal Navy’s Quest for Vengeance in the Single Ship Actions of the War of 1812
I have not been able to find much more information about Captain Diron, despite the wonderful description of him "as bold as he was cocky." The battle between Dominica and Decatur is also described in the 1907 book The Free Lances: Stories of the Sea Fighters of All Nations in Their Long Cruising and Desperate Battling for Honor and Treasure by Captain Jack Brand (Google Books), which confirms that Diron was basically a Freelance Professional British-Hater:
A French-American privateer captain was the hero of another fight which was one of the most ferocious actions on the high seas, the loss in killed and wounded being greater than in eight of the famous sloop-of-war duels in which the American navy was so successful in this war. [...] Captain Diron himself was a noted privateer who had enjoyed a brilliant and successful career as a French privateer during the long wars with England, and who found the American service extremely congenial.
