Tbh the reason why I even considered writing Genshin fics is because I wanted to write for characters like Chongyun, Xingqiu, and Bennett. They're all very interesting characters with a lot of potential

HI!!!! Good morning/afternoon/evening to youuu! First, I want to say I really enjoy your fics, it makes me feel like I'm on cloud 9. Too bad their just fiction. Anyways....
Idk if you write fics about benny watts, but ig it's worth a shot, I'm obsessed with play date by Melanie Martinez and that song really fit with benny. When benny was only with the reader to practice or play with her but they have a little thing that a couple does but without label. So the ready gets really tired and have a fight with him, and at the end benny told her his feelings.
Really hope you can make this. And advance thank you! <33
YES!!! My beloved Benny Watts!!!! I love him so much 😊 Thank you so much for your words, yet alas, mine are just fiction *sigh* (also, love your username)
Benny moved a rook across the chess board and your face scrunched up. You were nowhere near the level that the great Benny Watts was, but you liked the think you could predict his moves. You had known Benny since you were children, and therefore were able to practically able to read each other minds. That was an argument Benny used many times to rope you into playing chess with him. If you, the person who was able to prophesy his every move, wasn't able to beat him, then he was confident no one could.
You had tried multiple times to get out of playing chess with Benny (albeit thankful that it was a bit of steady income for the two of you, seeing as you were roommates), but he always managed to trick you into playing with him. Sometimes it was through bets, or he got you tipsy, or he simply looked up with you with puppy dog eyes and you melted.
It was hard though, being Benny's friend. You were constantly left alone at the apartment- if you could call it that- and sometimes had to pick up extra shifts because Benny was too engrossed in chess that he forgot to pick up a check. Your friends had urged you to move out, seeing how the stress could get to you, but you refused. You felt bad about the prospect of leaving Benny. He was your best friend, although you sometimes wondered if you were his. He clearly shared a special relationship with Arthur and Harry, simply because they were all the same sex.
And then there was Beth.
You were unsure of when the girl had first appeared in your life; she had just showed up at one point. And you saw how Benny reacted to her.
You were about to move a knight when a knock sounded on the door. Sharing a look with Benny, both silently agreeing to pause the game, you got up and opened the door. Sighing at the character who was waiting to come in, you moved back to the chess boar and plopped back down on the ground.
"Beth!" Benny smiled brightly. You hated him for it. Your feelings for Benny were probably a main factor in why you stayed by his side, even after he had pushed you into the friend-zone multiple times unknowingly.
"Are you guys playing?" Beth moved to sit by you.
You scooted away from her and towards Benny, gesturing to the board and saying, "Play for me, will you? I could never win against the prodigy."
"Hush," Benny took your hand in his. "You were doing wonderfully."
Without another word, you sat back and watched as the two young adults warred in a battle of the wits. No matter how many times you would watch it, you were always awed at the swift, defiant movements that they shared.
An unwanted pang of jealousy wormed its way into your stomach. Why couldn't you've been great at chess? Would Benny than pay more attention to you? And how could he be so blind? Who else had stood by his side for as long as you?
Throughout the match, Benny continued to hold you hand. When you went to pull away, reaching for a book or magazine to interest yourself in, he pulled you back and muttered something about 'his good luck charm'.
Rolling your eyes at his persistence, you shrugged him off. After a while, Benny was declared the winner, but by a slight margin. Even you were able to see how Benny narrowly avoided defeat. He had gotten lucky. Beth thanked you for letting her drop by, saying she had originally come for a book that Benny suggested. After she had left, you started to pack up the chess board. You had come to live with the fact that in your shared apartment with Benny, chess boards would outnumber anything else.
"You alright?" Benny stretched out on the floor, glancing over your figure.
"Why wouldn't I be?"
"Come on, Y/n." Benny shot you a hard look. "I've known you forever. I can see when something bugs you. Out with it."
"Are you blind?" You rounded on his suddenly, your odd question confusing the boy.
"What do you mean?"
"Can you see what's in front of your eyes?" you pressed again. "Because I don't think you can. Every time that Beth, a lovely girl, no doubt, but only a new, shiny toy to you, rounds the corner, you're transfixed and I can't understand why."
"Where is this coming from?" Benny exclaimed, feeling bombarded.
"Haven't I been enough?" You ignore him and continued on. "I've tried to be a great friend, but it's hard sometimes. It's especially hard when I've been crushing after you for the past few years and you can't realise that I like you!"
"You like me?" Benny stilled, blinking owlishly at you.
"Of course, you idiot!" You wanted to throw the chess board down but knew that a line you shouldn't cross. "We've had some pretty bad arguments in our lives and any other friends would've separated by now. Why do you think I always come back to you?"
Benny couldn't help but let a laugh escape. "You come back to me?" he clarified, shaking is head. "No, Y/n, I come back to you. God damn it, I like you too. Love you, in fact! Ever since I first set my eyes on you. You, may I remind you, had a school-girl crush on that one boy, Jack. So, I backed off. I've been harbouring feelings for you ever since."
You stared at him. "Pardon?" you asked finally.
"I guess I am blind." Benny flashed you a brilliant smile that made you melt. "Blinded by my love."

The Cost of The Crown P2
Media The Queens Gambit
Character Benny Watts (Teenage/ Highschool Benny)
Couple Benny X Reader
Rating Spooky and cute
Part One
Tumblr media
I sat at the table with my plate in front of me, the small amount of food didn't even feel the plate so I made sure to savour every inch of what was on the plate. The silence on the table made me feel I could not chew, could not scrape my plate clean, could not even breathe. The perfect place, faultless silver where, flawless placemat, exquisite table setting, idyllic dining room. I briefly gained enough confidence to look up across the long rectangular table at its other end and sat my father in his suit from the day eating his dinner with his whiskey glass to his left and my mother sat to his right. He looked up from his plate and made eye contact with me for a brief second but I quickly forced my eyes away and began to run my fingers through my hair.
"Out with it princess." He demanded his tone low as he returned his view to his plate,
"I... I got all A's today Daddy," I spoke up my eyes firmly on my plate,
"Is that... suppose to impress me?" He said pausing as he chewed, and my eye began to twitch.
"Good grades are for girls who get no good glances," My mother spoke up,
"And..." I began, "I've been hands-on with the prom committee."
"Now that is good news." He said, "You had me worried... when you were not voted head. But I suppose we have little to worry over."
I nodded and did my best not to panic as I moved my hands away from my hair even if my bleached hair had snapped off a hundred times in my hand.
"You need to do your hair," he demanded,
"I- I only bleached my hair last week Daddy..."
"You. Have. Roots." He glared me down across the table,
"Roots on the head are the Roots to be Socialy dead." Mother said,
"Fetch me another plate, my queen." He smiled at her handing her his place,
She smiled and took his plate, "Of course my king," she cooed as she rushed off to fill his plate again.
His eyes met mine again, "Princess... these last few weeks are so very critical for you. But I promise your mother and I have every confidence in you."
"... Are you proud of me?" I forced out as I looked up at him,
"We will be." He said as she returned handing him his plate.
I stood holding my books in my little pink skirt staring at the poster board, stood in front of my locker as I looked at the sweet blue paper with those four letters. The painted bubbles, seaweed and fishes danced around the word. The three weeks that I counted the very seconds too.
"You forgot something Cinderella," A voice spoke up, but I knew the voice and I didn't want to speak to him but I couldn't hold back a glare to my left as I saw on the wall the black trench coat and hat of Benny watts, his lips curled into a smile with that stupid excuse for facial hair across his upper lip.
"Oh? my glass slipper?" I snapped but quickly adjusted myself hoping not to let such an outburst slip out again.
"No, your homework," he smirked as he pulled out the white paper from his inner jacket pocket letting it unfold as he held it revealing my now graded Quantum mechanics homework with the bright red A+ across it, I had left it in the classroom on purpose but he was not letting me off so easily.
"Thank you Mr watts." I forced as I tried to take it but he lifted it seconds before I could take it,
"You are a little shit."
"Excuse me?" I glared,
"Look at this top marks in the damn class and he grades like a cock tease." he said before he slipped it with my books between the book and my chest, "You're a fucking Genius, and it's infuriating."
"Pray tell, why is it Infuriating?"
"Becuase you're Gorgeous. Girls shouldn't be Gorgeous and Geniuses." He smirked, "How the hell am I meant to resist you?"
"I'm not a Genius,"
"You are the only person who even gets Quantum mechanics, your a fucking Genius Y/n."
"If you say so..."
"I do say so. After all, I am a chess prodigy I would know a fellow genius when I see one."
"Former Prodigy, you have to be a child to be a prodigy."
"See. Genius. Or smart ass. I can't decide Cindi."
"Cindi?"
"Cinderella." He smirked,
I didn't bother responding just turning my attention back to the poster,
"Hey... uhhh... Chess club is on tonight? Room 602? We are desperate for players who know what they're doing."
"I can't play chess."
"Really? you understand Quantum mechanics but you can't play chess?" he laughed, "I'll teach you then, a smart girl like you will pick it up no problem."
"No. Thank you Benny... but I need to be home on time."
"Fine." He rolled his eyes as he came and leaned on the locker next to mine with his hands in his pockets, "Who is he then?"
"What?" I asked turning to see him,
"You're prom date? I take it that's who you're fantasizing about as you stare... longingly into the poster." he smirked, "Unless of course... you're standing staring longingly into the prom poster hoping some very handsome gentleman will stumble along and ask you?" He smiled
I rolled my eyes and looked away from him,
"Because if it is the latter then, What colour and I wearing and what time do I need to pick you up Cindi?"
"I have a date." I snapped,
"Yeah me, I thought we just arranged that?"
"No. I am going with Richard Franklin, Obviously."
"Ahh yes the big strong quarterback." he glared, "He asked you with roses and diamonds then?"
"...He hasn't asked me yet."
"So you're not going with him."
"Of course I am."
"...but he hasn't asked you."
"No. he's been busy." I shifted a little, "But our date is set in stone he just hasn't done it all yet."
"Mhm," He smirked,
"What?"
"Nothing... Nothing..." he chuckled, "But as it stands you have no date?"
"... not fully arranged no."
"Then how about, If... Richard never gets around to asking, Then you and me?"
I rolled my eyes again and adjusted my books as I turned to him and gave him my prettiest smile, "Benjamin Watts. I would not go to prom with you until you where the last man on earth." I huffed before I marched off home.

April 12th 1913 Flyweight boxing champion was Benny Lynch born.
I always feel sad when telling the story of Benny Lynch who is widely regarded as one of the finest boxers that Scotland has ever produced. His explosive punching power, immaculate timing, and prolific skill ensured that he had no equals among his contemporaries in the flyweight division.
Born in the Gorbals in Glasgow, the young Lynch grew up in the squalor of one of the most overcrowded immigrant ghettoes in Europe. He loved life in this cosmopolitan melting pot and soon established himself as one of the community’s favourite sons. Having turned professional in 1931 at the, Benny honed his prodigious natural talent by demolishing all before him on the boxing booth circuit. Under the expert, avuncular stewardship of his trainer and manager, Sammy Wilson, the boy from Florence Street won the Scottish title from Jim Campbell in May 1934. In March 1935, he drew with reigning British, European and World flyweight champion Jackie Brown over 12 rounds, setting up a title-fight re-match six months later.
The second fight, in Manchester, was watched by hundreds of travelling Scottish supporters; their faith was to be rewarded as Lynch demolished Brown in an outstanding display of power punching that saw the English opponent and undisputed world champion for three years on the canvas a total of eight times in just two rounds. Scotland’s first ever world boxing champion returned to Glasgow to be met by a joyous crowd of hundreds of thousands of people who lined his triumphal route from Central Station to his home in the south side of the city. The city fathers of Glasgow Corporation denied him a formal welcome, but the people of Glasgow turned out to pay tribute the likes of which had never been seen before and would never be seen again: one of them who had denied all the odds to rise to the very apex of his profession.
Unfortunately, fame did not sit easily on Lynch's frail shoulders and his battle with the bottle and his personal demons proved to be more difficult to overcome. Lynch regularly struggled to make the 112lb weight limit and lost his title on the scales in 1938, stripped for being an astonishing six-and-a-half pounds overweight for a defence against Jackie Jurich. He was knocked out for the only time by journeyman Aurel Toma in October of that year. Although he was only twenty-five, it was the final contest of Lynch's career. His alcoholism worsened and he died of pneumonia on 6 August 1946.

20 questions for fic writers
Thank you so much for tagging me, @divinemissem13! ❤️
1. How many works do you have on Ao3? 127
2. What’s your total Ao3 word count? 660,997
3. What fandoms do you write for? Star Treks, mostly Strange New Worlds, Lower Decks, Picard, and Voyager.
4. What are your top five fics by kudos?
Tuvok’s Secret (G): Tuvok has a secret — and he trusts only one person onboard to keep it. (Kathryn Janeway & Tuvok)
Feet on the Ground (G): Something solid slams into Kathryn’s back. She stumbles forward, bumping Mark, who in turn careens into someone else. Kathryn turns to glare at the probably inebriated party-goer who didn’t watch where they were going. But, instead, she looks up to achingly familiar dark eyes and the curves and lines of a tattoo that Kathryn spent the last eighteen months telling herself she didn’t miss. (Chakotay/Kathryn Janeway)
The Halo Effect (M): Tom Paris and Kathryn Janeway didn’t intend to fall in love. (Kathryn Janeway/Tom Paris)
Fly Me to the Moon (E): Kathryn Janeway and Tom Paris never met each other years before Voyager. Never served on a covert mission together. Never fell in love. Never planned a future together. Nope, never happened. Because a secret like that could lead to some … complex dichotomies. (Kathryn Janeway/Tom Paris)
Bad Ensign (T): Harry Kim finds out he missed out on an important part of the Starfleet Academy experience. Hilarity and dirty jokes ensue. (ensemble, friendship fic)
5. Do you respond to comments? Yes. If someone was kind enough to leave a comment, I’m going to thank them.
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? I used to not know how to answer this question, but I recently got a kudos on Honey, I’m Home and while that story definitely isn’t “sit down crying” angst, I feel like maybe it qualifies? (Though In the Doorway might also fit under that criteria? Both stories are Kathryn Janeway/Tom Paris, but they only get together in one of them.)
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? Either Feet on the Ground or Youthful Exuberance (Some Kind of Love). Feet on the Ground has Janeway and Chakotay finding their way together after their Delta Quadrant trauma (note: Chakotay is afraid to leave the Sol system for fear of getting pulled into the Delta Quadrant again — Prodigy!Chakotay didn’t exist yet when I wrote that but, from what I’ve heard, he could possibly relate). Youthful Exuberance lets our heroes, Christopher Pike and Una Chin-Riley, have all manner of ups and downs, but the tags promise a 100 percent happy ending and I was determined to deliver.
8. Do you get hate on fics? Not that I’m aware of, usually.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind? Yes. Vanilla because I find that interesting to write. (I’ll read all sorts of stuff.)
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written? I write crossovers within the Trekverse. The two craziest allowed Tuvok and Geordi LaForge to have tea together (Asunder [T] Kathryn Janeway/Tom Paris) and Shannon O’Donnell Janeway to tell Benny Russell how much his writing has meant to her (Meeting of the Minds [G] Shannon O’Donnell Janeway & Benny Russell, Kathryn Janeway & Benjamin Sisko).
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen? Other than by ChatGPT, not to my knowledge.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated? Yes, In the Doorway was translated into Russian.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before? Yes, and am doing so again.
14. What’s your all time favorite ship? NCC 1701
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? There’s one I technically finished about Tom Paris and Owen Paris in the aftermath of Owen’s beta canon torture by the Cardassians. But it’s really dark and I don’t know if I’ll ever edit or post it.
16. What are your writing strengths? Adaptability (to prompts), brevity, details.
17. What are your writing weaknesses? I’m having trouble lately with voice and lack of vocabulary variety.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? If necessary, a beta fluent in the language can be very helpful.
19. First fandom you wrote for? I consider that to be Voyager, but recently reflected on an even earlier fandom for me.
20. Favorite fic you’ve written? My most recent fic always holds a place in my heart, so Disarmed (Mirror Una Chin-Riley/Mirror Christopher Pike) is special to me, and also was an interesting mental stretch because I’d never before written sex that the characters think is good but I think isn’t good. But my all-time favorite? Youthful Exuberance (Some Kind of Love). It’s my novel length love letter to Chris and Una, and it means a lot to me.
Tagging: Tumblr has been doing this fun thing lately where I don’t see posts from people I follow. So, if you actually see this, please consider yourself tagged with no pressure. Also, in addition to the wonderful people tagged by @divinemissem13, I’m tagging @grissomesque @fiadorable @emilie786 @genius2mania @lorcaswhisky @enterprise-come-in @marymoss1971 @sun-lit-roses @kejsarinna @iamstartraveller776 @isagrimorie @emonydeborah and the fantastic folks I’m not thinking of right now because I have tag anxiety.

Courtney Bell Provides a Dose of His Mindful Motor City Music in a New Project
Tumblr media
Mindful and meditative, but still willing to scrap if he has to, Courtney Bell is a different kind of Detroit rapper. The Westside native shares a slice of his state of mind with his new project, Microdose, out now. Executive produced by Courtney's mentor, Royce Da 5'9, along with Keith "Pay Cash" Miller, Microdose is the rapper's first long-form project since 2020's acclaimed Poverty Stricken.
Anointed by many of the greatest lyricists in the game as a rapper to watch, Courtney shows his prodigious talent on the new project: he waxes philosophical about the nature of poverty and generational trauma on "Issues," examines mysteries and conspiracy theories on "For All We Know," tries to give his homies long-term financial advice in "Swivel," and ponders the nature of the divine with athletic tongue-twisters in "Psalms 82."
youtube
Royce appears on four tracks on the album, including the fast-paced back-and-forth of "Westside," the boisterous and disrespectful "BANZ," and "Bang," a lyrical showcase that also features Benny The Butcher. Courtney also welcomes Royce, LaRussell, Symba, and Sol ChYld for the soulful posse cut, "Get 'Em High," as everyone brings their A-game and Courtney stacks an all-star lineup worth of NBA references. With an additional guest spot from Conway The Machine on "Word II Conway," Microdose is available on all platforms via MNRK Music.
Renowned in the Detroit streets and more than ready for national recognition, Courtney Bell is on the come-up. The rapper took his talents to On The Radar earlier this year, demonstrating his lyrical prowess and giving a glimpse into what to expect from him this year. The Westside native previously made waves with his 2020 mixtape, Poverty Stricken, featuring the single "ICE" (1.5 million streams on Spotify) and a collaboration with REASON. Last year, his Poverty Stricken single "Celebrate" landed on the soundtrack for the blockbuster Gran Turismo film.

❝ that's fine, pussycat. ❞
he doesn't seem too particularly bothered, at least on the surface. in truth, she was the first he had come to for help with yes man, only to be shot down and, what it felt like to him, laughed at. ( he still holds a festering grudge. vegas could have been ours, baby. ) his lighter flicks open with a metallic click, holding it up to the cigarette crammed sloppily between his lips, any sort of distraction was better than being berated by robco's illustrious prodigy.
he offers her a quiet sneer from behind his hands as he lights his vice, puffing a few times before it clicks closed. his hands raise up, defensively, as if he was about to be bombarded by another onslaught. he sees her, and sees robco handprints plastered all over her small form, sees it embedded into the code of her arm, sees her from the underside of that high horse. benny lets out an almost uncharacteristic scoff that racks his shoulders, head shaking as if it doesn't bother him one bit. ( it does. )

Mary Lou Williams is a jazz force to be reckoned with. She was a child prodigy and played to make ends meet in her family when she was as young as 6 years old. Mary Lou Williams became a professional at 15 years old.
This jazz pianist knows her craft and plays with confidence. I love her spiritual approach to jazz. She can use the blues or the stride style like Fats Waller. She was a composer, an arranger and collaborated with Duke Ellington, Benny Goodman. This friend of Dizzy Gillespie influenced great musicians such as Miles Davis and Thelonious Monk.
I would recommend “A Grand Night for Swinging” as an introduction of her groovy skills. But she has other great numbers. I personally love “Dat Dere” a Bobby Timmon’s composition. She takes it and makes it her own with ease. It has the rhythmic touch I love and a cool and melodic fingering at the same time.
She’s the Maestra that all jazz musicians of quality revere.
-----

Here's an interesting idea what if Benny hosted a competition in his world for young prodigies in terms of building Mech armors like a beauty pageant but with mechs
I would LOVE for that to be cannon

April 12th 1913 Flyweight boxing champion was Benny Lynch born.
I always feel sad when telling the story of Benny Lynch who is widely regarded as one of the finest boxers that Scotland has ever produced. His explosive punching power, immaculate timing, and prolific skill ensured that he had no equals among his contemporaries in the flyweight division.
Born in the Gorbals in Glasgow the young Lynch grew up in the squalor of one of the most overcrowded immigrant ghettos in Europe. He loved life in this cosmopolitan melting pot and soon established himself as one of the community’s favourite sons.
Having turned professional in 1931 at the, Benny honed his prodigious natural talent by demolishing all before him on the boxing booth circuit. Under the expert, stewardship of his trainer and manager, Sammy Wilson, the boy from Glasgow won the Scottish title from Jim Campbell in May 1934.
His alcoholism worsened and he died of pneumonia on 6th August 1946, it is said it was brought on by malnutrition, what a tragic end for Benny.
Benny Lynch is buried at Lambhill cemetery in the city.
