Hop's story is not necessarily about him being some useless garb Pokémon trainer. But rather being a Pokémon Trainer, as a profession, has never been his thing and just what he pursued out of desperation to be loved. That he won't live up to Leon and that's okay, because his true passion lies with Pokémon themselves. That being a professor is something that suits him much better. He's not pathetic and weak, he's just not as strong as you or Leon, he's not a trainer, and that's fine!

It's so wild to me that so many people HC Leon and Hop as not having had a close relationship when multiple forms of canon (the game AND PokeAni) have literally said that Leon practically raised Hop. Despite there being three adults in the house that can do it. And Leon being a child when Hop was born. And away from home a majority of the time.

You know--healthy family dynamics and all of that. (coughtheirmotheristrashcough)

The point is that Leon managed to raise his brother from kilometers away, and you cannot convince me that he didn't have Hop shipped out to wherever he was based in Galar during the summer months to stay with him. He absolutely tried to call Hop every night and would video chat with him to help him with his homework. Sometimes he even had Hop come stay with him during holidays because their mother is trash. He did his best to make it to Hop's plays and school events and would send Sonia and Professor Magnolia when he couldn't make it himself. If he couldn't see Hop for his birthday, he would express ship a gift and have Sonia deliver it, along with a box of cookies.

Is it right? No. Healthy? Also no. But I have to say that Hop turned out pretty damn well for being raised by someone who was barely able to come home and also only 10 years older than him. Leon really does not get enough credit and that's depressing to me.

I remember hearing somewhere that Iris from the Unova games and region is a cousin to Hop and Leon to the Galar games and region.

Somewhere else that Professor Laventon from Legends Arceus and Hisui is a distant ancestor to Hop and Leon.

(I have no idea of any family Iris or The brothers might have from the Anime, since it’s been so long since Best Wishes, and I haven’t seen most of Journeys)

Wouldn’t that mean that Professor Laventon is an ancestor to Iris?

HI, I'M HOP! Yes, my actual name is Hop too. He/him for admin as well. I've been wanting to make one of these for ages but only just now got the balls lolz. A little rotomblr/rotumblr based on my characterization of Hop for my Pokémon AU I've been working really hard to write, Pokémon Unown Legends Tale!! Read about it on my main @irlkisukeurahara I have a tag for it. I don't want to post it officially until the Unova book is done so I can provide weekly updates, so for now I wanted to make a little RP thing for it to kinda get people interested I guess
