Ways For US-Americans To Help If You're Abstaining From Voting
Can't vote on moral grounds, but still raring to do something? Stuck in America and unsure of how to meaningfully serve your community? Here are some ideas that I, a social worker serving house-bound citizens, can share out of personal experience. Feel free to add other ideas or links. We are not powerless.
Volunteer (these are just examples/sources of info)
Planned Parenthood needs volunteers for nearly every non-medical department
See if your state has a volunteer stewardship program, where you can help weed out invasive plant species and defend your natural ecosystem
If you have medical skills, become a street medic
Contribute to the preservation of Queer History
Put your labor towards the upkeep or repair of properties in Indigenous communities
Adult literacy is not great right now, and we're harder to lie to if we're literate; volunteer to help your neighbors who were failed by the school system
Resources to help the unhoused constantly need volunteer counselors, cooks, and someone to sort donations
The sick and elderly are very under-served, particularly if they're broke, so reach out to a local hospice to see what skills they need
Give (if you can't physically volunteer but have money to spare)
Donate to an abortion fund; this one is for Native peoples specifically
Donate to a book gifting program or book mobile; this link is for Dolly Parton's Imagination Library
Donate to preserve the histories of communities of color; this fund is specifically for preserving African American historical sites
Donate to protect the natural environment
Donate to help free those caged in prisons; this link is for the Innocence Project, which aims to challenge wrongful convictions
The arts are for everyone, but wealth gaps interfere; this fund is for art initiatives that contribute to community building, including increasing accessibility
Learn (resources that many communities have but aren't widely educated on)
Community Action Agencies: these are non-profits and private companies that act in service of their communities' human rights and quality of life. Many have utility funds, run food banks, manage emergency shelters, provide education and job skills opportunities, and participate in social activism.
Area Agencies on Aging: Non-profits that serve elders (and non-elderly disabled citizens) in a designated service area. They primarily offer services to prolong independent living (free or low cost in home care, meals on wheels, home safety modifications, and Medicare guidance) or help with transition into assisted living.
Habitat For Humanity: They aren't just in disaster zones or on foreign soil; they have local US chapters that provide critical repairs to families in need. They repair roofs, address barriers to access, and perform electric and plumbing work.
Durable Medical Equipment Loan Closets: Communal sources of vital medical equipment including wheelchairs, walkers, canes, hospital beds, shower chairs, and more. May be able to provide incontinence supplies or diabetes supplies. Rarely but sometimes provide oxygen.
Non Emergency Medical Transportation/Alternatives to Mass Transit: Transportation for elderly, disabled, cognitively impaired, and low income citizens to help them reach medical providers, dental care, physical therapy, and eye exam appointments. Can also provide transit to shopping centers, the grocery store, religious events, cultural events, and polling stations. Offer door to door services for the housebound. IF YOU HAVE MEDICAID, YOU SHOULD NOT EVER BE PAYING FOR THIS. MEDICAID IS OBLIGATED TO MAKE SURE YOU REACH ANY AND ALL MEDICAL APPOINTMENTS.
Legal Aid Clinics: Sources of pro-bono or sliding scale legal advice and representation.

A U.S. judge in Florida on Monday dismissed the criminal case accusing Donald Trump of illegally holding onto classified documents after leaving office, handing the Republican former president another major legal victory as he seeks a return to the White House.
U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon, who was appointed to the bench by Trump, ruled that Special Counsel Jack Smith, who is leading the prosecution, was unlawfully appointed to his role and did not have the authority to bring the case.
It marked another blockbuster legal triumph for Trump, following a July 1 U.S. Supreme Court ruling that as a former president he has immunity from prosecution for many of his actions in office.
Cannon's ruling came two days after Trump was the target of an assassination attempt at a campaign rally in western Pennsylvania. Trump is set to be formally named the Republican presidential nominee in Milwaukee this week challenging Democratic President Joe Biden in the Nov. 5 U.S. election.
Prosecutors are likely to appeal the ruling. Courts in other cases have repeatedly upheld the ability of the U.S. Justice Department to appoint special counsels to handle certain politically sensitive investigations.
A spokesperson for Smith did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
At the very least, Cannon's ruling throws the future of the case into doubt. Smith is also prosecuting Trump in federal court in Washington on charges involving the former president's attempts to overturn the 2020 election, but his lawyers have not made a similar challenge to the special counsel in that case.
In the documents case, Trump was indicted on charges that he willfully retained sensitive national security documents at his Mar-a-Lago estate after leaving office in 2021 and obstructed government efforts to retrieve the material.
Two others, Trump personal aide Walt Nauta and Mar-a-Lago property manager Carlos De Olivera, were also charged with obstructing the investigation.
Trump's lawyers challenged the legal authority for Attorney General Merrick Garland's 2022 decision to appoint Smith to lead investigations into Trump. They argued that the appointment violated the U.S. Constitution because Smith's office was not created by Congress and the special counsel was not confirmed by the Senate.
Lawyers in Smith's office disputed Trump's claims, arguing that there was a well-settled practice of using special counsels to manage politically sensitive investigations.
"This ruling flies in the face of about 20 years of institutional precedent, conflicts with rulings issued in both the Mueller investigation and in D.C. with respect to Jack Smith himself," said Bradley Moss, an attorney who specializes in national security.
Moss also said the ruling raises the question of whether Smith will seek to have Cannon removed from the case.
Cannon's ruling is the latest and most consequential in a series of decisions she has made favoring Trump and expressing skepticism about the conduct of prosecutors. The judge previously delayed a trial indefinitely while considering a flurry of Trump’s legal challenges.
In an unusual move, she allowed three outside lawyers, including two who sided with Trump, to argue during a court hearing focused on Trump's challenge to Smith's appointment.
Conservative Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas also provided a boost to Trump's challenge to the special counsel. In an opinion agreeing with the court's decision to grant Trump broad immunity in the election-related case, Thomas questioned whether Smith's appointment was lawful using similar arguments to those made by Trump's lawyers.
Garland appointed Smith, a public corruption and international war crimes prosecutor, to give investigations into Trump a degree of independence from the Justice Department under Biden's administration.

Their second date starts off easier. After the looks they'd attracted last time, the pair decide to go somewhere a little more casual for dinner. Since the theme of their dates so far has seemed to be trying new things for both of them, they end up at a nice, but informal, restaurant serving food from a country to the southeast of their own. It's a cuisine that Leo had warned Elliot he probably wouldn't like.
As it turns out, Leo was right.
And Marcel agrees. But at least he isn't quite as vocal about it.
Their conversation comes easier, perhaps aided by their more casual interactions throughout the week. Elliot had loaned The Fruit of Uncertainty to him on Monday, and is eager to talk about it over dinner. So eager, in fact, that Marcel barely gets more than a few brief comments in.
The oft dreaded topic of parents and properties and investments comes up. It's the kind of boring conversation that usually dominates the more formal dates his sister arranges, but it's bound to come up eventually. Elliot mentions the orphanage he wants to assume management of after school, and Marcel's eyes widen.
"In Sablier?! Doesn't the Nightray family have the money and resources to put those poor kids anywhere nicer?"
But Elliot can't tell him why that's a bad idea. The children of Illegal Contractors attract Chains, but that's not exactly public information, is it?
"It is what it is."
The more they talk, the more Elliot realizes how much there is he can't tell the other young noble.
Marcel asks what he has planned for the rest of weekend, and Elliot catches himself. Officially, Oz Vessalius is still dead, isn't he? So he lies and says his only plan is studying. At least Marcel's Sunday plans are about the same.
"Maybe we can meet up and study together."
"Yeah, maybe." But probably not.
The atmosphere between them feels a bit off as they leave the restaurant, but Elliot has high hopes for the haunted attraction they're headed to next. Marcel seems... A little nervous.
Things start out fine. Elliot puffs out his chest as they begin their trip through the haunt, doing his best to seem brave and confident beside his timid date. But things quickly change. Every jumpscare makes Elliot flinch, and every flinch makes him embarrassed, and as his embarrassment grows, so does his temper.
They're about halfway through the attraction when Elliot's nerves finally snap.
A killer clown jumps out in front of the pair as they're hopelessly lost inside a maze, and this time, Elliot doesn't jump.
Instead, he throws a mean left hook directly at the clown's big, red nose.
He's able to talk--and bribe--his way out of any legal repercussions, but the pair are still asked to leave. With Marcel quiet and embarrassed beside him, Elliot grumbles on about "What do they expect to happen? Jumping out at people like that!" as he orders them an Uber.
Should they get some drinks, he asks?
Marcel mumbles a reluctant, "Sure."
They're quiet, awkward again, as they wait. And wait. Though it's only a few minutes, it seems like an eternity marinating in that silence.
They don't talk as they get into the backseat. "Should we just go back to the school instead?" Elliot asks.
"Whatever you want," Marcel's response has him gritting his teeth, and silence falls again.
The car passes a large, formal park, with two impressive clock towers illuminated in the night like beacons, and Elliot suddenly demands the driver to stop outside the closed gates. He offers to pay for the full ride, plus an impressive tip, and all but drags Marcel out of the back seat.
"I don't think we're supposed to be here after dark," Marcel says sheepishly.
"It's fine, my brother said he used to come here late at night all the time," Elliot insists. Though the drive is gated, it's easily walked around through the grass.
In the dark of night, the formal garden takes on an almost ethereal quality. It's unbelievably quiet, and the two speak in hushed voices as they walk through elegant flowerbeds, their colors pale in the moon's light.
"You know, Ernest always swore that he and some friends heard sirens singing in this park once."
"Really? Like magical sirens?" Marcel gives him a wide-eyed look.
Elliot laughs. "No way, that shit's not real. But he'd get so into the story when he'd bring it up, and the details never changed.
"They were walking around out here, and heard singing from the centerpiece and went to check it out. But when they got close enough to be make out the silhouettes of other people, and those people didn't stop singing, everyone was overcome with such a feeling of dread that they ran away and never came back here after dark again."
A different kind of silence falls between the two men. Marcel stops walking, and Elliot stops two steps ahead of him. They just kind of look at each other for a second.
Listening.
Listening...
The long, still quiet is finally broken by a loud, barking laugh from Elliot. "Then again, my sister did say Ernest was a party boy when he was in school. Who knows, they all mighta just been high."
And Marcel laughs, too. Elliot kind of nods his head in the direction of the wide, open lawn, and leads Marcel to a soft patch of grass with a view of the stars and encourages him to sit.
"I dunno, I think a part of me wanted to believe it, though," Elliot says lightly as he lies back.
Marcel lies beside him, their arms and shoulders just barely touching. "I get it," he says. "Sometimes it's fun to think, maybe there is a little magic in this world. Somewhere...."
They talk lightheartedly for a while about their families. Marcel has two older sisters, making them both the baby of their respective family, and they laugh over that. Though it brings up a bittersweet feeling, Elliot is happy to reminisce about his own siblings, both here and gone.
They talk about responsibilities and expectations, both desirable and not. Suddenly, Marcel gives a funny little chuckle, and Elliot raises an eyebrow.
"You know, when I was 15, my family actually put in an application for me to be your valet," Marcel admits, timidly.
"Wait. Seriously??"
Marcel nods. "Apparently, word had spread that it was a pretty exclusive position, that even the most qualified applicants were being vehemently rejected, so there was no point in even trying. I think my family hoped that meant yours would get desperate when everyone else gave up."
Elliot stares at him for a few seconds as that information processes.
"Is that why you have beef with Leo?"
Marcel goes quiet for a moment, looks away. "I don't have... beef with him..."
Elliot sits up suddenly. "Then say his name."
"Wha....?"
"You've never once called him by his name. If you don't have beef with him, if you have any respect for him at all, then just say his name. It's not like it's hard to pronounce."
Marcel stares up at him with a complicated expression. Finally, he sighs. "I don't have beef with Leo."
"That's better." Elliot lies back down in the grass, but on his side this time, head propped up on one hand. "So why do you get all weird when I bring him up?"
"I don't--"
"Oh come ON, Marcel."
Marcel doesn't look at him. "...Okay. Maybe that. Does have something to do with it. But also, it's impossible to tell what he's thinking, so the way he's always smiling is kind of... Creepy, isn't it? So, um. When he approached me about courting you I um. I thought it was a prank--"
"Leo wouldn't do that." Elliot cuts him off suddenly. "He can be a dick sometimes, but he's not cruel."
"I know. I... Figured that out when our first date turned out to be um, real...? But I still just. Mm." Marcel seems to be trying to find the right words as he stares at a blade of grass between his fingers. "You're together all the time, and you always seem so... Close. Even when you're fighting, you two just look... Good together. So... so maybe I am a little bit, um. Jealous..."
"You should be thankful." Elliot's voice is blunt, but gentle, and it makes Marcel blink.
"Excuse me...?"
"If you'd been hired as my valet, then we couldn't do this." Elliot leans over to give Marcel a small, reassuring kiss, and they return to the way they were before. Staring up into the night sky, their shoulders and arms lightly touching.
"It's like, illegal for nobles to have relations with their servants. You know that, right?"
Marcel's face reddens. He glances away, but doesn't move. "You talk about him like you love him, though...."
Elliot goes quiet for a moment, staring up at the stars, and they remind him of those eyes. Not exactly beating the charges... and he knows that. He sighs.
"I guess I kind of do."
He hears Marcel swallow thickly. Sees him turn away out of the corner of his eye.
"It's not like that, though," Elliot insists. "Leo was the first person outside of my family that I ever opened up to. He was the first friend I ever had. He doesn't care that I'm a noble, and I don't care that he's not. He's been by my side through everything, he was there for me when my brothers were assassinated and our home almost burned down. I love him, but it's. Different. Than this."
"So you're not. Um... Sleeping together?"
Elliot sits up again, choking on a too-loud laugh, and his face goes scarlet. "Seriously?! Is that what this was about?! As if! Leo doesn't have any interest in that stuff, he's asexual, or. Whatever. No. Who do you think I am? I'm a man of honor, I'm no cheater. And I don't lie, either."
"Never....?"
Elliot shrugs as he flops into the grass again. "Sometimes I might tell a fib or a half-truth, to like, protect someone, or if it means breaking a promise otherwise. I wouldn't out someone, something like that. But I'd never lie if it means hurting someone I care about. I can't keep a secret like that, and I would never lie about it."
He does remember that night, of course, and now it's his turn to look away. "So I'm gonna tell you the truth, right now."
Marcel glances over at him again.
"I did kiss Leo."
He hears Marcel suck in a sharp breath. He can feel the disappointment.
"Once. And we agreed that it was a mistake. A really stupid, selfish, impulsive mistake. And... That was that. It was a while ago, anyway."
Okay.
So that timing's a lie.
But it's one of those little exceptions.
"That's dumb," Marcel says. And Elliot turns his head to give him a searching look, dumbfounded by that response. Suddenly, Marcel feels bashful, but he continues. "I-I don't know, I just thought. You were more of a 'rules are rules, unless they're stupid' kind of guy. Who stands up for what he believes in, even if it's against the pack."
"Are you... Disappointed that I'm NOT cheating on you???"
"No! No no no, oh, man. No, that's definitely a relief, there, um. But..." Marcel sighs quietly. "Why are you going out with me, then? A-as a distraction, or--"
"No! Fuck no, no. I uh. I'll admit, it never. Really crossed my mind until you asked me out first?" Elliot admits. "But I've really enjoyed the time I've spent with you. I know I fucked tonight up--" Marcel laughs. "--but even that's a story, I guess. Look."
Elliot's face burns as he draws a deep, deep breath. "I've always seriously hated courting and shit. But I know I don't hate dating you. And I think I even, maybe, really kind of. Like you." He averts his eyes, embarrassed by his own confession there.
Marcel turns to look at him, for a long, long, long time. Finally, he smiles.
Except, it's not quite happy.
"Since we're confessing things, there's actually... some things that I need to be honest about, too. I don't actually like rock music. I hated being stuck in that crowd, and it was so loud it didn't really sound like anything to me. I was glad when it was over."
Whatever smile Elliot had fades quickly. "What...? You said you had a great time?"
"I did... Because I was with you. And, um...." Marcel continues. "I was kind of relieved when we got kicked out of the haunt. I'd been hoping all day that it would storm and get rained out."
"You said--"
"I know. I wanted to do whatever you wanted." Now that he's started, Marcel has more to confess, though. "Also, um. I never read Holy Knight until I knew it was your favorite. I never really read graphic novels at all. I used to think they're kind of immature, but then you made them seem cool...."
Elliot sits up again. "Hold on. Did you even like it--"
Marcel shrugs. "I did, yeah. But, my favorite was actually Edgar. I just. Knew that was a topic to avoid...."
A million gears turn inside Elliot's head, but some of them haven't quite connected yet. "But you-- Then why did you-- How did you--" Each question comes out not just louder, but with more annoyance, too. "Did you even read Fruit of Uncertainty?"
Marcel winces. "I um. I really couldn't get into it."
Elliot pinches the bridge of his nose, desperately trying to avoid a full on assault against this poor young man. "Why. Why did you say you did, then???"
"I-I don't know!! The Oth-- I mean. Leo gave me a list of your interests and suggestions for getting to know you. I um. I had a c-crush on you for so long, I was just happy to spend the time with you..."
"Why did you lie, though?" Elliot asks breathlessly.
Marcel bites his lip, takes a second to respond. "I really, really hate arguing..."
A tense silence begins to build, Elliot looking down at Marcel incredulously as the other man brings his hands up to cover his face, fingertips pressing into his eyes.
"And there's... One more thing I need to come clean about."
—————
Back at their dorm, Leo yawns and glances at his phone as he closes the book he's just finished. It's getting awfully late, late enough he's starting to consider turning in for the night.
Suddenly, the door flies open, hitting the wall with a loud bang that makes the valet jump so hard he almost falls out of bed.
He blinks a few times as he takes in the sight of Elliot standing in the doorway, blue eyes wild, his body shaking with seething rage. He draws in a long breath and screams,
"WHY THE HELL DIDN'T YOU TELL ME I HAVE A FANCLUB?!?!?!"

If you live in the US and you are poor, you probably know that most public housing here (which you need to be homeless and/or extremely low income to even qualify for) has waitlists.
This means that the people who apply are waiting anywhere from 1-10 years (depending on city and size of the housing unit) just to come up for a shitty, rent controlled apartment. Sometimes, elderly and/or disabled people get prioritized to the top of those lists, but even then, usually have to wait at least a year for a building that may not even be accessible to them.
But what you may not know, is that the processing times to get into these places is also at an all time high. I work with clients finally coming up #1 on these lists, and waiting 2-4 extra months just to have their applications processed fully.
This is because there are so fucking many bureaucratic hoops to jump through in screening. But also, "property managers" with no legally required education or bare minimum housing law trainings are fumbling their way through it and often managing like, 3 buildings at once.
2-4 months of (likely) being some degree of homeless, on top of the however many years you already waited. And because homeless people notoriously have unreliable access to a communication device, many people are being lost in that entire process and have to start over. Like if you come up as #1 and they can't reach you within a few days, they just move on to the next person.
Anyway I'm posting this because I feel like "just build more affordable housing" is like, the band-aid solution that keeps coming up. Its not a real solution.
You'll also note that "affordable" housing =\= subsidized, public, or rent controlled housing. "Affordable" actually doesn't mean dickshit. Any slumlord can call their place affordable as long as it's under the local average rent. I see studios here priced at $1400/month labeled as affordable. People on SSI/SSDI are making between 400-1600 a month, which makes that "affordable" rent still anywhere between 80-300% of their income.

“A trans-identified pedophile in Scotland used an alias to gain entry into a domestic violence shelter housing vulnerable women and children, where he was allowed to stay for 71 days before being removed”. Kill this guy and the officials who passed laws that allowed this to happen
A trans-identified pedophile in Scotland used an alias to gain entry into a domestic violence shelter housing vulnerable women and children, where he was allowed to stay for 71 days before being removed. Katie Dolatowski, 22, is a registered sex offender for crimes involving young girls, yet was permitted to reside at the Leeds Women’s Aid Refuge.
Dolatowski provided official documentation supporting a new identity, which he used to deceive staff at the women’s shelter. Dolatowski was accommodated in a section of the refuge which houses people who identify as transgender, but it had some shared resources and spaces with the main women’s area.
Dolatowski has a disturbing history of sex attacks on young girls in public facilities. In 2018, he was discovered secretly filming a 12-year-old girl in a women’s bathroom at an Asda supermarket in Fife, Scotland.
The child was using a restroom cubicle and in a state of partial undress when she spotted Dolatowski recording her by holding his phone over the stall. The girl cried out for help and ran away. The supermarket’s CCTV footage was used to identify Dolatowski, and upon further investigation, 12 seconds of film of the girl were found on his mobile phone and iPad.
The following month, Dolatowski targeted another young girl for sexual assault in the restroom of a Morrisons supermarket in Kircaldy, Fife. He grabbed a 10-year-old girl by the face and pushed her into a cubicle, ordering the child to remove her pants. During the assault, Dolatowski also threatened to murder the child’s mother in an attempt to frighten her into compliance. However, the young girl struck out in self-defense, landing some blows against Dolatowski, and was able to break free and run for her parents.
Despite his two attacks on children, Dolatowski was handed a three-year community order in lieu of a prison sentence. He was also banned from having contact with children, placed on the sex offenders registry, and ordered to complete community service.
Upon learning of Dolatowski’s disturbing history, management at Leeds Women’s Aid had him removed from the premises. Chief Executive Nik Peasgood told The Sun: “We are appalled that someone with such crimes could come to a women’s refuge using a different identity. We are aware a criminal using authenticated identification could access any housing provider’s services and we are not unique in being manipulated in this way.”
Farah Nazeer, also a chief executive at the shelter, added, “This situation is a priority for us, alongside supporting our federation of local domestic abuse services.”
A mother of three and a resident at the refuge told The Sun that the situation frightened her and made her fear for the safety of her children. “It’s horrific. As a victim of sexual abuse myself, the whole thing is triggering. I came here with my kids because I thought it was a safe place and to find out there was a pedophile living a few doors away for months is just horrendous.”
As previously reported by Reduxx, Dolatowski, who stands nearly 6’5, was ousted from a public housing estate on the night of October 19 after enraged neighbors became aware of his past crimes. A crowd gathered outside of the property, demanding his expulsion. A phone recording taken by a bystander shows a large number of police officers present, removing Dolatowski and unidentified others from the residence.
Tumblr media
This is not the first instance of Dolatowski being granted access to a women’s shelter.
In February of 2019, the Courier revealed that Dolatowski, who was homeless at the time, had been housed in a hostel for female offenders on the basis of his self-declared gender identity. This was permitted despite the fact that Dolatowski did not have a Gender Recognition Certificate (GRC), a legal document that establishes a change to one’s name and birth sex on their identification.
One woman who was residing in the unit for homeless offenders told The Courier: “This is a women’s hostel and it’s all women who work here. I feel sick and can’t stop thinking about what he has done.”
An editorial decision was made in the news article to alter the woman’s wording by using the feminine pronoun “she” in place of “he.”
At the time, a spokeswoman for Women and Girls in Scotland noted that accomodating males in certain female-only spaces, such as prisons and crisis shelters, can be triggering for the vulnerable women residing there.
“Female offenders are very likely to have experienced male violence and/or abuse, and many suffer from conditions such as PTSD. As such, the presence of males in spaces where they are vulnerable could understandably be very distressing for these women, and for many the presence of a male sex offender will prove to be unbearable.”
She went on to denounce the lack of safeguarding measures, stating: “Katie Dolatowski has already taken advantage of access to female spaces to commit sexual assault. It is absolutely unacceptable that this person was being given the same opportunity again.”
Currently, violent male offenders incarcerated in Scotland can be placed in women’s prisons provided they are recognized as transgender.
In October, the Scottish Prison Service (SPS) confirmedthat half of the current inmates who identify as transgender only began doing so following their convictions.

It is not their first words, or the place you meet, or the first place you touch. It is the first time you argue. There is no feeling like seeing the words on your wrist slowly turn from being a touch darker than your skin to a brilliant gold, but as an attorney, it certainly is awkward to watch it happen in the middle of a suppression hearing, or immediately afterwards.
Michael Cutter is startlingly dismissive of the detectives who searched your client's house without a warrant, of the beat cops who stopped her without reason. The evidence Michael Cutter is so vehemently supporting is nothing less than the fruit of the poisonous tree. He has nothing without it, and he knows it.
"Mr. Cutter, we both know the evidence is inadmissible. You're an intelligent man. Turn your energy to reminding the officers who bring you evidence that they are bound by law just as we are."
His blue eyes-cold, calculating, intelligent - flash over to you. It occurs to you he probably has, but was determined to fight for what they acquired, as it is his job.
"The NYPD not only serves me, but you as well, counselor. We would not be here if Elisabeth Williams had not harbored evidence from the police."
Your client was a victim of domestic abuse. A survivor who was finally trying to get out. A woman who had been intimidated into hiding a weapon and photographs.
"My client is just another victim, your honor. Her rights have been violated enough. The knife was only found because Officer Braco stopped her for loitering 3 feet away from her own property and found out that the person who was recently taken off the lease had an active warrant on file."
"Mr. Cutter, the knife is out."
"The photographs?"
"Also out, pending further investigation, any charges regarding Ms. Williams and the objects found in her home are hereby dismissed."
"Thank you, your honor," you nodded, slipping the case files back into your brief case.
*
"We'll call her as a witness," he asserts, following you into the elevator.
You scoff, "Haven't you considered that putting your suspect's former partner on the stand may hurt your case? Or, hurt her?" A sigh leaves your lips as you switch your bag over to your other hand. "Ben Stone made cases without murder weapons. Surely, you can manage."
Cutter tensed, hand tightening around his own briefcase. A glance at his wrist revealed "Surely you can manage." turning to a faint rose gold script.
Of course. Of course, it would happen here.
His eyes flick over to you once more, noticing the way you tug at your lip with your teeth as you think.
Did his words already rescript in gold over your skin?
*
Your wrist feels cooler than it had 20 minutes ago, when Cutter had turned to you and wondered why you finally answered the call from Legal Aid.
"Charity wins out in the end, I suppose."
You had wished those words were said near the end of the argument, a laying down of arms, with fond teasing and acceptance. Yet, Cutter's words had burned in more ways than just the changing color of the sentence on your wrist.
Now, in the elevator, you finally catch the smallest glimpse of gold peaking out under the gray of his suit jacket.
Your words tumble out before you can stop them, "Photographs still need film to be developed."
And you both know. There's no way he doesn't feel the pull, the snapping of the thread of hostility, like breathing in new air.
His smirk is disorienting, somewhat unsettling, and it beckons you to match.

//fuck it. I'mma do it.
//This isn't meant to be part of the RP. Consider it outside of rotomblr. This is a short fic about Chamomile's conversation with Director Clavell.
//I'm super rusty in fic writing though and I've never written Director Clavell, so sorry if this seems out of character or sloppy or anything!
//tag is #Chamomile Stories in case this ain't your thing
"Professor Chamomile?"
Chamomile looked up from the scarlet-and-violet-covered book that they were intently reading and turned their head to the voice that called out. They saw a tall, white-haired man approaching.
"Yes, hello!" They turned their wheelchair to face the man. "Are you Director Clavell?"
"I am!" said the Director. "Pleased to formally make your acquaintance. I have been looking forward to this meeting. I hope the trip wasn't... Too strenuous?"
"Well, I'll be honest with you..." Chamomile let out a soft chuckle. "There's a LOT of stairs!"
"Oh-" Clavell's eyes widened as though the realization had just donned upon him. He chuckled as he scratched the back of his head. "I suppose there is, isn't there? I am so sorry for neglecting to warn you about that."
"Oh, I've managed to navigate worse!" Chamomile flicked their wrist nonchalantly. "I'll have to remember to tell the flying taxi service to put me right at your academy's doorstep next time."
"Perhaps I can consult the league about making some renovations to the city," said Clavell. "In the meantime: Would you like to take our discussion to a meeting room?"
"Oh yes, that would be lovely!"
As the two started making their way through the entrance hall to a nearby room reserved for their meeting.
"Your Academy is gorgeous, by the way," said Chamomile, "Schools never looked this nice back in the Orre region!"
"Thank you!" replied Clavell with a gracious smile. "My biggest pride in this academy is the knowledge we bestow in our students, but presentation matters when you're the most esteemed academy in the region."
"Well, the pride is certainly deserved," said Chamomile with a beaming grin, "I've met a few of them today! They may have been a bit... Over-eager to aid in my mobility. But their consideration is much appreciated."
"I'm glad to hear that." Clavell put a hand on his chin thoughtfully. "I get the feeling I know which students you've met, too."
"Oh?"
"When I told Arven that you were visiting, he got quite excited," Clavell explained, "I'm sure he told his closest friends about it."
Chamomile thought about it for a moment. While the three students they met were each uniquely eccentric, somehow it almost made sense that Arven would know them.
"You know, I'm not even that surprised!" they said with a laugh. "They're all a bit eccentric, but they're good kids. Just like Arven."
"I would have to agree!"
"... Speaking of..." Chamomile tilted their head slightly at Clavell. "Is it... Normal, for a kid Arven's age to own property, let alone rent it out to someone? I mean no disrespect; that sort of thing is just... Not legal where I'm from."
"Huh-" Clavell first stared at Chamomile in confusion, but then laughed as he realized. "Ah, there must be a misunderstanding. Legally, the lighthouse actually belongs to me - and by extension, your residency."
"However," he continued, "It originally belonged to Arven's parents. So, as his current legal guardian, I let him take care of the space and have a say in decisions regarding it. Within reason, of course."
"Ohhh..." Chamomile's eyes widened. "That makes more sense."
"It may seem unconventional, but..." Clavell let out a resigned sigh. "Arven's had some complicated emotions to work through, and that lighthouse plays a role in it. I believe seeing that space used by someone else for a different purpose has been greatly helping him. I hope you don't mind."
"Perish the thought, Director! Arven's a sweet kid and I don't mind him visiting and checking in once in a while," assured Chamomile, "But knowing this, I trust I can speak with you on more adult matters, regarding the living space?"
"Why of course; I'll do my best to provide whatever you need," said Clavell, as he opened the door to a room reserved for their meeting. "Which I can assume we can speak more about

Ok I'm now in my computer so I can write better the second part of my Spider-Man AU hehe. OK HERE WE GO LET'S START!!
Spider-Man Dream "Mirage-Spider" (Earth 120899)
Dream is a 23 year old man who lives in the city of New York with his little brother Tommy (their parents died in a car crash when Dream was 15 and Tommy 10, they were sent to an orphanage since they didn't have any family to take care of them, when Dream became a legal adult, he got a job and went to live in an apartament with his brother). Dream works as a part-time.job assistant coder in one of Alchemax's buildings, he helps in a minimal way to program different systems that the company needs to perform their activities (you could say he's like the plummer of coding lol). He's also studying in the L'Manburg College to be a writer, since that's one of his passions. His best friends are George and Sapnap, the first one works at the Alchemax´s laboratories, studying different properties of spiders; the second one is his classmate in college, Sapnap is studying to be an athletic coach. Sapnap knows George because they used to go to high-school and became good friends.
He has a very good relationship with his brother, even when he ends up very tired from college and work, he tries to always make time to hear Tommy ramble about his day and hear how he has been, and they do different activities depending on their mood and energy, sometimes they play video-games, others they watch a movie, in others they play some board-games, or others they just cuddle (platonic only/srs) in one bed and just relax with the presence of each other.
One day on work, George calls for Dream to help him with a program he's having trouble with, Dream goes to the laboratory George is (it's full with spiders in cristal cages btw) and tries to help him. Neither George or Dream notice the spider that managed to crawl out of the cage and to Dream's neck. Dream is bitten and slaps the spider out of him, George tries to help Dream with the bite with a first-aid kit but scolds Dream for killing one of his experiments. He recommends Dream going home early and to rest, since he started to look like having symptoms of a fever. Dream follows his instructions and goes home. Tommy was already home since high school was finished for that day, he tried to tell Dream about his day, but his brother told him he was feeling sick so he needed to rest. Tommy understood and went quiet (but he left him a cup of water with some pills on the bedside table and put a blanket over him when Dream fell asleep without changing his uniform on his bed)
After that incident, Dream got his powers, being the typical Spider-Man abilities, but with a new one included: He is able to manipulate existing cristal, like a window, ice, etc. This also includes the reflection it produces, meaning that is a very useful power if he needs to fool the police to get out of a scene. This power is not too strong but he's working to make it better. NOTE: He can only manipulate cristal that already exists, he can't create new one). Because of his weird behaviour and having compared Spider-Man's powers with the properties of the spider that bit Dream, George is the first one to know Spider-Man's secret identity. He tells this to Dream, and at first he calls him crazy for thinking that, but after George showing a lot of evidence, he accepts defeat. After that George is able to create a better suit for Dream (he used materials he had at home to make his original one).
Because of his job as a coder, a student from college, and being a vigilante that saves New York everyday from crime, he doesn't have much time to spend with Tommy anymore, which Tommy always says he understands this and it's okay with it, because he knows his big brother has worked very hard to get both of them a stable life, so he accepts it (even tho Tommy secretly misses hanging out with his brother, talking about whatever nonsense he wanted to tell and always being heard, play games with him, or just relax by his presence. But he doesn't want to make him feel bad, so he doesn't says anything) (And the same feeling goes for Dream as well).
One night, Dream arrives home very late after a patrol, he's frozen when he sees Tommy sitting in his bed, looking at him -without his mask- (he took it off because he thought Tommy would be asleep because of the hour and wouldn't bee seen by anyone. He didn't thought Tommy would be waiting for him to arrive home, and even less to be in his room -Tommy wanted to feel Dream's presence while waiting for him, so he waited in his brother's room-). Tommy obviously is very shocked and confused by discovering his big brother is the vigilante he has admired since the day he appeared in the city. They get into an argument about Dream risking his life everyday and for not telling him his secret sooner (he felt betrayed when Dream accidentally said that George knew the secret first, and he felt dumb for not realizing sooner this, he felt like he didn't knew his brother that well as the thought so before).
The next day when Dream went to patrol Tommy tried to stop him, he told him he didn't want to lose the only family he had left, he didn't want to see him hurt. Dream told him everything was going to be fine, that he would be there for him always when he was in trouble, that he had his big brother to protect him (it's the same words he told him the night they received the news about his parents, and he has kept that promise since that day)
That day he had a battle with the Vulture in the top of a clock (who I think could be Punz, idk he fits good with the selling illegal weapons and all that), Tommy was near one of the buildings watching the scene (he sneaked out of the house, he wanted to make sure his brother was alright, and also because he wanted to see Dream's fighting style -he still admired the vigilante, and knowing now it was his brother, he admired him more-). When Dream notices Tommy being near, he tries to redirect Vulture's attacks so they can move to another place, so he wouldn't be near Tommy. Vulture, noticing this behaviour, he observes where Dream's glance goes to in those moments he looks away. He notices Tommy, and he takes him as a hostage, thinking that maybe Mirrage-Spider will do what he demands. Dream demands Vulture to let go of the citizen, but Vulture doesn't budge, he demands Mirrage to return him the weapons he took from him, or the kid would get it. Dream did as told, he threw the bag back to him, and told him to let go of the child. Vulture did as asked. He threw Tommy inside the clock. Dream launched one of his webs to Tommy so it would stuck with him and prevent him from hitting the floor. But as in the Andrew Garfield's movie and scene, the force of the web catching Tommy made Tommy's neck snap and killed him.
Dream was left devastated, he lost the only family he had left. He hugged Tommy very hard, hugged him as if he was hiding a small child in his arms, shielding him from the cruel world, his big brother was here, he would always be there to save him from evil...until he didn't.
That day Dream promised himself to never get attached to anyone else, because he feared that he would lose them. He promised himself to always work hard to be a better version of himself. He promised he wouldn't reveal to anyone his secret identity, only George would know. He promised his brother he would try to save everyone he could, to never let evil touch them, because Mirrage was here to save the day, and he would honor his memory by doing so.
He visits Tommy's grave every Friday (that's the day they usually hanged out the most before becoming Mirrage). He tells him stories about his patrols, the jokes Sapnap tells him in class, the way his relationship with George has developed into maybe something more than friends (but he doesn't want to take the next step, he doesn't want to lose him as well). He tells him he feels sorry for not being a good big brother, for failing him when he needed him the most, and that he understands if he never get forgiven by his spirit, that he doesn't deserve his kidness and his love, and that he misses him, and he loves him so much.
OK WOW THAT WAS A LOT MORE TEXT THAN THE PREVIOUS ONE I THINK HAHA. I literally come up with this ideas as I write this, so that's why it can get so long and a bit messy haha. I still have another post for how the discduo spider-man's meet and extra info. But I think that's going to be for tomorrow lol. FOR NOW I HOPE YOU ENJOYED READING THIS GIANT TEXT LOL/lh/pos

Just when everything seems to be going right, something happens. Apparently, even though our property manager has received our rental assistance, which is paid through the end of the year, they want us out by the end of the month (which we're pretty certain they can't do) because the owner wants to sell the property vacant. We're going to go through legal aid, as well as our rental assistance, to see what we can do. I just feel numb and broken.

Liquid Gold Poppers: Alternative Uses and Benefits
Tumblr media
Liquid Gold poppers, a popular recreational substance known for their unique effects, have a history that goes beyond the realm of recreational use. While originally developed as a treatment for heart conditions, their alternative uses and benefits have expanded into various domains. In this article, we will explore some of the alternative uses and potential benefits of Liquid Gold poppers beyond their recreational appeal.
Click here to buy Liquid Gold poppers
Understanding Liquid Gold Poppers
Liquid Gold poppers, also known as amyl nitrate, is a type of alkyl nitrite. They are typically sold in small bottles and are inhaled for their immediate and short-lived effects. Most commonly, they are associated with enhancing sexual experiences and club culture. However, their chemical properties have led to a range of alternative uses and potential benefits.
Muscle Relaxation
One of the alternative uses of Liquid Gold poppers is as a muscle relaxant. When inhaled, they cause blood vessels to dilate, increasing blood flow and oxygen delivery to muscles. This can provide a sense of relaxation and relief from muscle tension. Some individuals use poppers to alleviate the discomfort associated with tension headaches or even as a complementary therapy for muscle-related pain.
Enhanced Sensory Perception
Poppers are known to heighten sensory perception, making them valuable in certain creative and artistic pursuits. Visual artists, for instance, may use them to enhance their perception of color and form, potentially inspiring unique and vivid creations. Additionally, some users claim that poppers enhance their appreciation of music and dance, making them popular in the club scene.
Stress Reduction
The rush of euphoria and relaxation induced by poppers may offer a brief respite from stress and anxiety. While not a long-term solution for managing these conditions, some individuals turn to poppers as a form of escapism or as a way to momentarily alleviate the symptoms of stress and anxiety.

Aid for Some Medical Conditions
In the past, amyl nitrate was used medically to treat certain heart conditions and angina. Although it has been largely replaced by other treatments, there is some evidence to suggest that it may still have a role to play in specific cases under medical supervision. However, this is a subject that should be explored with a healthcare professional.
Aromatherapy and Sensual Experiences
Due to their strong and distinctive aroma, some people incorporate poppers into aromatherapy practices. The inhalation of the scent can evoke feelings of sensuality and relaxation. However, it's crucial to use poppers for this purpose with caution, as the aroma can be overwhelming for some individuals.
Safety Considerations
It's important to note that while Liquid Gold poppers may have alternative uses and benefits, they are not without risks. Misuse or overuse can lead to adverse effects such as dizziness, headaches, and, in extreme cases, health complications. Poppers should always be used sparingly and with awareness of their potential side effects.
Furthermore, the legality of Liquid Gold poppers varies by country and region. It's essential to be aware of and adhere to the legal regulations in your area.

Conclusion
Liquid Gold poppers, originally developed for medical purposes, have evolved into a recreational substance known for their unique effects. However, their alternative uses and potential benefits should not be overlooked. From muscle relaxation to enhanced sensory perception, they have found a place in various domains beyond recreational use. Nevertheless, it is crucial to use them with caution and in moderation, always being mindful of their potential risks and legal status in your area. If you are considering using poppers for any alternative purpose, it's advisable to consult with a healthcare professional or aromatherapist for guidance.
