Sometimes I just like to think about how much I love a good pov change within a larger story because you can revisit the same thing with multiple characters in a way that does some world building and also interesting characterization.

If I say “V managed to track down a few leads about what he was looking for.” It’s clear she’s just executing a task, and doesn’t feel that strongly about it. If I say “Goro found what he was looking for eventually— although only after enduring several increasingly difficult conversations with people he had never met and hoped never to meet again.” Then you know he is not well suited to the task and was in fact bitching to himself about having to do it the entire time.

The trick is just finding what moments warrant the echo. What thoughtless process for one character is another character’s gauntlet of annoyance, for instance.

Of Head-Scratches and Fidgety Hands - Tendou Satori x Reader

Do I know what this is? No. But it was fun to write. - FLUFF

You’re not too sure how you got here in the first place.

Had Semi invited you? Or Reon? 

Too many people had talked at the same time, talking over each other and the words slurred together to a thick syrup until you could barely catch the essentials of “movie night” and “please come” and “dorm room”.

Now you’re tucked into the corner of a bed, trying to make yourself as small as possible because Ushijima is nothing if not massive and you don’t want him to think you want to cuddle or something.

“You’re not sitting up here,” someone announces from above and just seconds later Tendou jumps down, grinning like he doesn’t care. His eyes catch yours in the already dim light.

“Oh, is there space between you and Wakatoshi? Hmm?” He leans in.

“Sure,” you squeak, tucking yourself further into the corner.

Tendou slides into the open space, throwing his legs over Ushijima’s without a care. You’re a little jealous, to be honest. Not that you want to cuddle with Ushijima. You’d just love to be as careless as he is. Or the other girls that got invited.

Ran, for example, just sat on Goshiki’s lap the moment she came in and if that’s not confidence, you don’t know what is.

“Pspsps,” Tendou whispers just five minutes after the movie starts. 

You already know it’s going to be some bad horror movie.

“What?” You ask, heart hammering in your throat. “Do you need something? Oh shit, am I in your space?”

“No,” he smiles wide. “You’re just fidgeting a lot. Are you okay?  Are you scared? You can hold my hand if you want.”

You swallow thickly, eyes flickering from his face to the screen where a couple of girls just decided to leave their broken-down car on a dark, deserted street in the woods.

“Can I?” You ask back. “I… I kinda need to do something with my hands.”

And then, to your utter horror, your eyes flick up to his hair. It’s long and red and looks extremely soft, even in the barely there light. It’s the first thing you notice every time you two cross paths and maybe it’s the darkness or the lack of space, but your mouth just opens on its own.

“Can I play with your hair?”

Tendou’s eyes open wide and you wish you could suck those words back into your mouth and make sure they’re never heard.

“Sure,” he croaks out then, which in turn elicits a round of shushing from the other people but Tendou just settles further down into the bed, resting his head on your lap. 

His eyes are open and on you, asking you if this is okay just as much as you hope it is.

The moment your hands are in his hair you know you’re done for. It truly is as soft as it looks.

The movie is soon forgotten as you part strands and braid little braids, rub soft circles into his skin, or scratch faintly at his scalp.

About halfway through the movie, you look down to find Tendou fast asleep, his face nuzzled into your thighs. 

You let him sleep, your hands now a little less restless, just patting his head like one does with a napping kitten.

“Hey!” You almost flinch back at the loud greeting. Tendou waves at you from the other end of the hallway, coming closer much too fast. “How are you? Sorry, I fell asleep last time.”

“It’s uh… it’s no problem.” You glare at your feet, unable to look him in the face.

“Are you sure? You’ve got really talented hands there-” Your head shoots up to catch his smile, surprised that it’s gentle and shy, not bold and boisterous as usual.

“You sure?”

“Absolutely. It takes a while to put me to sleep, usually. You can ask Wakatoshi.”

You don’t think he meant the last part literally, but Ushijima’s deep voice still rings out, half a step behind him.

“I can confirm.”

“Oh, well, I… you have really nice hair.” What a weird compliment.

But Tendou blushes a soft red, now the one taking turns glaring at his shoes until Ushijima nudges him in an uncharacteristic show of support.

“Oh, right. We’re uh… doing another movie night. Just our dorm, though, not the whole team. Thought you might want to come.”

“Another horror movie?”

Tendou’s eyes open wide. “No, yes, I mean. What do you want to watch?”

“Tendou wants me to watch the Classics,” Ushijima interrupts before you can figure out a movie that makes you sound cool. “He said I need to see ‘The Land Before Time’.”

“Ouch,” you pull a face. “I mean I’m in, but we’ll need tissues.”

Ushijima seems surprised by that revelation, turning to Tendou as if to confirm you’re right.

“I told you that it will make you feel things,” Tendou defends himself, looking at you for help. 

“Lots of things,” you agree. 

“So you’re coming? It’s tonight, right after we get done with homework, so we don’t get to sleep too late.”

“I’m in.”

“Great, it’s a date.” Tendou grins, blushing all the same. 

You just hope you’re not as easy to read as he is.

“Where’s Tendou-Senpai?” Goshiki asks from the door of the study room.

“Sleeping,” Ushijima explains just as you put a finger on your lips to keep the First-Year from waking your boyfriend.

It’s not the most comfortable way to nap, but Satori’s managed to stretch out over a few chairs, his head in your lap. 

And even though he claimed it was to help with your ever-present need to fidget, you know it’s just a ruse to hide that he hasn’t been sleeping well lately. It probably has to do with the fact that you’re both waiting for your acceptance letters, the one thing deciding if your relationship will have to go long distance or not.

“Oh, sorry. Takai-Sensei asked for him. I’m supposed to bring him back with me.”

You sigh. “And here I thought he could finally take a nap.” 

Gently, you rub your thumb across his chin, up his cheek, and his temple. It’s more of a massage than a caress and it doesn’t take long for Satori to grumble and whine.

“Sorry,” you whisper down at him. “Takai-Sensei asked for you.”

“Five more minutes?”

“Not now, but you can lay down as soon as you’re back, okay? Extra head scratches for you too.”

“Fine,” he huffs, dragging himself up just to rest his head on your shoulder for a moment, breathing against your neck. “You’re lucky you’re the sugar plum fairy of women.”

“I’ll take that compliment,” you laugh, kissing him back when he leans in for a peck.

The flight to Paris is long and the leg room basically non-existent.

If you had the money for more expensive seats, you’d have splurged, just to make sure Satori could stretch his legs.  

“It’s fine,” he tells you for the fifth time, bending in a way that doesn’t seem humanly possible. “You will just have to head-scratch me into oblivion for the whole flight.”

You huff, exaggerating your exasperation.

“Why do always I have to do the head-scratching? I know I’m a fidgety mess, but you could return the favor once in a while.”

“Can I?” Satori asks, more hope in his voice than you thought possible.

“Eh, sure, I…” You blink, a little surprised. “I didn’t know you wanted to.”

“Yeah, because I didn’t want to mess up your pretty hair. And I don’t know if I can do it as well as you do. But I trained with Ushijima, so I can give pretty good shoulder rubs now.”

“Oh, so you trained?” You ask, raising your eyebrows at him.

“Like I’d risk a chance to hurt you, sweet pea of the fair seas.”

“Young Love,” the old granny on your right sighs, shaking her head at the two of you.

(established relationship pls) and like edwin is constantly like about to have a ghost heart attack from keeping them out of trouble but he loves them anyway

"aww, a dog!" you cooed, moving to go pet the dog you saw laying on the floor. its eyes shone as it looked up at you, practically begging to be pet.

wordlessly, edwin yanked you by the arm back into his side. at this point, it was second nature to him to tighten his hold on you whenever you drifted from his side for even a second.

"hey!" you protested, pouting.

"do not tell me you do not remember the last time you tried to pet a stray,” he said. “because it was not exactly a forgettable experience.”

you smiled guiltily as you recalled the event.

you and edwin had been in the woods on an investigation for a case - the ghost of a very talkative squirrel had brought it to your attention that there was something, or someone, stealing away the inhabitants of the forest.

suddenly, there was a 'meow', and you immediately looked around trying to find the source of the noise. edwin was nose-deep in his notebook, furiously scribbling away. you had no doubt he was conjuring up some brilliant idea or solution - edwin was just a genius like that.

your face split into a grin when you located the cat. "pspsps," you called. "here, kitty kitty."

it meandered towards you, eyes glowing with innocence.

"edwin!" you called. "come here, there's a kitty cat!"

his head whipped in your direction and his eyes widened. "[name], do not pet that thing-"

"but why not?" you said, reaching out to scritch it behind the ear. "it's so cute- OH MY GOD-"

the cat yawned adorably - or at least that wad what it looked like at first. it's jaw kept expanding, revealing rows and rows of sharp teeth and allowing a foul smell to waft out. you scrambled backwards, falling into edwin. from his pocket, he pulled out another volume you recognised as the spell book. in quick successesion, he muttered a spell at the cat and reduced it to ashes. panting, you tried to catch your breath and calm your speeding heart (which had sped up much quicker at observing edwin's efficiency as he protected you).

edwin looked at you accusingly, a wordless reprimand in the way his eyebrows were raised.

you grimaced. "it was a kitty cat?" you tried.

he snapped the spellbook shut. "after the fiasco with the cat king, i thought you'd be more wary."

"well, i'm sorry that the cats i've encountered aren't usually magical!" you exclaimed. “and besides, we solved the mystery - go team!” you cheered and lifted a hand for a high five.

he rolled his eyes, tugging you along by your raised hand. leaning in to his side, you smiled at him. "thanks for saving me, edwin."

"yes, yes," he said nonchalantly, even as he bit back a smile.

you kissed him. "my knight in shining armour," you cooed.

"it's not my fault i don't have as much experience with the spooky industry as you do," you pointed out, shrugging. "and besides, it's hot when you protect me."

a blush rose to edwin's face as he spluttered. "you cannot just say things like that!"

oblivious to edwin's state of embarrassment, you diverted your attention to a baby passing by in a stroller and waved at it excitedmy. "you two made such a cute kid!" you told the parents. if they looked at you a bit strangely at your choice of wording, you didn't notice.

edwin put his arm around your shoulder, guiding you forward again, before you found another animal to pet or another infant to befriend.

the bell to the butcher shop jingled as you burst through the door, edwin trailing after you. you were balancing a cardboard tray of four coffee cups in your hand, having generously offered to go on a drink run for jenny, crystal, and niko.

"hi, jenny!" you called. "i'm back with my ghost boyfriend!"

jenny slammed her cleaver down on the chopping board, an exasperated expression on her face, as the customer at the counter turned to you questioningly.

"oops." you winced apologetically. "uhh. no ghost boyfriend here! he's, uh definitely not real.. and not hissing at me about subtlety..." you inched closer to the counter, setting down jenny's black coffee cup. "okay, it was nice meeting you, stranger! i like your jacket, and i totally don't have a ghost boyfriend! bye!" you waved to the stranger as you disappeared up the stairs. "see you later jenny!"

edwin followed you into your room, looking at you in half bemusement, half disbelief. "while i am a ghost and cannot suffer from such conditions," he began. "it does feel like i go into cardiac arrest every time i have to keep you out of trouble."

"yeahh, but you looove me," you sing-songed.

he smiled. "i do.”

12. If you write in more than one language, what's the difference?

WOOF. well.

ukrainian being a synthetic language = longer words on average = different sentence flow (not necessarily slower, just. different)

this also means that there's less flexibility in word use (can't easily use a verb as a noun, a noun as an adjective etc), but more freedom in terms of word placement in a sentence

the repetition thing i've complained about, which is a pain in the ass but somewhat alleviated by additional pronouns (e.g. "той/toy" instead of "the other man")

pretty much everything related to pronouns and noun gendering is different (please we need our own set of gender neutral pronouns and verb forms that don't clash with it please the swedes did it and so can we)

ukrainian and russian are two similar languages that both live in my head, but also russian has been (still is) an existential threat to ukrainian and common sense demands i decouple them and favour ukrainian whenever i can, but also the line between the two is often blurry due to. how languages work, so as i write i have to constantly second guess myself and double-check if a word/phrase i'm about to use just naturally exists in both ukrainian and russian, or if it's a russian word that comes quicker to my mind but that i shouldn't use, or if it's a normal ukrainian word Now but not before the soviets decided to weed out the more distinctly ukrainian vocab from our books/dictionaries and promote the more russian-sounding synonyms instead, and what i should do in that case (there's no definitive answer much of the time). i have like 5 dictionaries open in my browser whenever i'm writing in ukrainian while with english i can get by just googling "define [word]" or "[word] synonym" every now and then

writing in ukrainian feels a lot more vulnerable, for the obvious reasons (foreign language offers a degree of separation between the words and the emotions and makes talking safer), but also with ukrainian i become very aware that i'm not just blabbering into the online void but trying to Say Something to real living people, to my people, that i need them to hear it and will be upset if they don't. this awareness is an inhibition more than anything, but that's a me thing

tldr writing in english is much easier To Me, but the easy path isn't always the right one

pspsps tell us about your vanishing of ethan carter opinions please

so unfortunately I can't talk about how much I loved The Vanishing of Ethan Carter without also mentioning how much I didn't like What Remains of Edith Finch. I went into EC feeling constantly reminded of EF - the titles are similar, the graphics are similar, the gameplay is similar, and I was really worried the experience would be the same as well

without spoiling much about Edith Finch, my main feeling about it is that the developers thought they were making a touching and bittersweet anthology of family deaths, but what they actually made was a whimsical light-hearted horror story of a family killing each other through negligence and obsession. I think I would have loved it if it had committed to being a weird horror story, but instead it just felt disappointing and tonally confused

Ethan Carter is pretty aware from the start that it's a whimsical horror story. the second puzzle in the game is a murder you're trying to solve, and theres more murders from there; a later puzzle includes a jumpscare portion, which I skipped entirely because I was playing at night, only to learn that this was one of a number of puzzles required to finish the game, and the game even included the ability to auto jump back to that puzzle so I wouldn't have to backtrack (I don't know if I would have had to fore-track - I really didnt want to do the jumpscare puzzle, so I ended up just watching a youtube video of the ending of the game lol)

mechanically the game was fun but could have used some work. they were very intentional about the game 'not holding your hand' which just meant that some portions were confusing and tedious (there's a loooooong stretch between the Astronaut puzzle and the Puzzle House where the game lives up to the genre title Walking Sim). i used a walkthrough to make sure i wasn't getting distracted by red herrings because I am an adult with a full-time job and video games are supposed to be fun. I think without a walkthrough I might've gotten frustrated by the game and the impact of the ending might've been less satisfying - or it might have been more satisfying, the world will never know

narratively the game really delivered. i'll save spoilers for under the cut below, but basically i went in expecting one kind of story, then the game slowly shifted my expectations and delivered a really satisfying gutpunch of a conclusion. by the time I entered the mines I had figured out that something wasn't quite what it seemed, and the payoff of that was the actual heartbreaking, bittersweet finale Edith Finch hadn't managed to capture.

you don't play as Ethan the way you play as Edith, you play as a paranormal investigator coming into town to discover what happened to Ethan, and learning about Ethan from this outside perspective made me really invested. he likes writing! his family is pretty awful! he had written to this paranormal investigator guy, not even directly asking for help, but the guy had come to help him anyways and I desperately wanted to find out what had happened to Ethan! and the ending made me tear up, which is the hallmark of a good game for me

spoiler additions:

what really made me tear up the most was the shots of the family (mostly just the parents though) trying to save Ethan from the fire. I think I figured out around the Church scene or the Mine scene that the 'Sleeper' wasn't literal; there were some narrative inconsistencies (the brother got killed up by the bridge, and yet was with his parents in the mines, which meant the bridge scene happened later but that wasn't making sense to me) and at some point the VO said something that made me think 'oh, he's not a paranormal investigator; he's Death'

that wasn't exactly right, but that means I went into the final scene expecting to be leading Ethan into death somehow, so the reveal that everything had been a story invented in the mind of a dying child didn't come as a shock to me. (I've seen some comments from people feeling like the 'its all a dream' reveal was a cop-out, but the eerie tone of the game never gave me the sense that this was a fantasy, just a fantastic interpretation of events, so yeah of course it wasn't real.)

like, in his dying moments this small child imagines the abuse of his family to be tenfold and the hero of his own invention to come and save him. like, damn, i can relate to that?? who can't relate to that?? maybe what hits so hard for me about this game is that i'm also a would-be storyteller. his family never actually tried to kill him anymore than there was actually an astronaut running around the woods; his brain had four minutes to reinterpret events in a way that made cohesive, narrative sense, which is definitely what all of us try to do to understand our own lives but it's really highlighted in the mind of a young, imaginative child

so anyway yeah, i teared up a bit, and i thought about ghosts and souls and how stories are true even when they're not factual, and thats kind of all i ever want from a horror story, and it was good

What’s the first part of your WIP that you created?

Four of my characters: Therien, Oenith, Idhren, and Leithe. Everyone else (and the setting) came later.

If your story was a TV show, what would the theme song/intro be?

Oh, good question, I haven't really considered that too much. I could see it maybe being something like the TLoVM theme but a bit less actiony? still very character-focused with lots of group shots lol

What are your favorite characters that you made? Why?

Oh, Idhren, no question. Therien's in second place and she would like it that way. Idhren is like...the comfort character of highest honors for me. I swear, the man's been a better influence on me than my own damn family. My last therapist was like "you should consider writing a character that's what you feel you needed as a child" and I had to be like "ma'am I have been doing that for a decade I'm way ahead of you"

What other pieces of media do you think your fanbase would share?

I already said TLoVM/CR and like yeah definitely that. fun fantasy setting with a bunch of queer idiots and so much emotional damage. vax stans pspsps i have something to interest you. also just like. the lotr/silm influences are heavily apparent in the "mourning the ruins of your people" and "living a long life is a unique sort of grief" and "doing something with the situation you're given even when you're scared and nobody important" and a couple of the characters don't worry about maithyr there's nothing to see there

What has been your biggest struggle with your WIP?

mostly just sharing it, I think? I've been through enough drafts and major overhauls, and seen enough progress that I can let myself relax and trust that the characterizations and plot details will iron themselves out. but for as compelling as these characters are to me, there's a lot of "is this any good / is this cheesy and blatantly generic / is anything i'm trying to say coming across right"

Are there any animals in your story? Talk about them!

yes!! so first of all there's dragons. they're not like, inherently more magical than other species, but the lochieru will use them in rituals the same way other mages might use the occasional feather or bone. but dragons are unique because their eggs are incubated in the earth and drain nutrients from the land while they develop. this is because the god who created dragons was removed from the gods' order for their actions, and was unable to finish their work and make dragon eggs grow without stealing other life. ...there are also horses and other livestock, which I try to give attention to as well. I have a degree in animal science and used to work with horses, so there's lots of "character is struggling with sheep handling for hours and now smells like lanolin and dirt" and "distinct personalities and quirks for everyone's horses"

How do your characters travel/get around?

aside from the lochieru and their dragons, mostly just...horses, whether ridden or in harness. sometimes ships, though trade with the western expanse is mostly dried up so there's little use for boats large enough and sturdy enough to make the journey

What part of your WIP are you working on right now?

I'm starting a new first draft, meaning the first draft after major plot/setting overhaul number...four? something like that. I'm just finishing up the first act, in chapter 6. this draft has been really interesting, it's the first time I feel I can see forward clearly and also still be surprised by new directions the story wants to take

What aspects (tropes, maybe?) will you think draw your audience in?

I keep saying chosen family, but it's more like, a bio family that was separated and chooses to repair their relationships and figure out how to be close again. the protagonist is aroace and pretty far from the whole "hyper-competent young protagonist" trope. there's elves and dragons and magic so that's something lmao. also like, what i hope is a very well-handled depiction of trauma and mental illness represented in a couple different characters in different ways

What are your hopes for your WIP?

I kind of just want to be able to share it in its finished form, I guess? like whether that's traditional publishing, serialized self-pub online, whatever. I love these characters and I think they deserve to be appreciated and remembered outside of my own head, even if it's just by one or two people, and I want to have something tangible like a finished set of books to show for the decade+ and counting of work, even if it's just a single copy for myself

9. worst part of canon

okay, so, when it comes to mcyt (and my fandoms in particular) this is a bit of a difficult one as there's not much of a canon in the first place. also mechanics-wise i just kind of love everything? but if pressed, i'd say - and this isn't really a "canon" thing i suppose - but some of the things my cc mains joke about make me uncomfortable sometimes. not terribly, but i get reminded of my intrusive thoughts immediately and that's kind of annoying.

12. the unpopular character that you actually like and why more people should like them

gonna go with 1776 for this one as all the characters get a lot of love in all my other fandoms - i kind of like rutledge. i'm not even sure if he's unpopular, i don't know if there is an unpopular character considering how dead the fandom is, but i've seen people dislike him for fairly obvious reasons - and i actually like him. part of it is that, like literally everyone but john adams (i love him but man's obnoxious and disliked for a reason), he's shown to be capable of being civil to people with differing views. also he's not a hypocrite and points out hypocrisy in others, unlike so many people in my life. just in general, something about his character and the way he talks about his Deep South™ draws me in.

18. it's absolutely criminal that the fandom has been sleeping on...

empires 2 joel angst. i went through the entire joel tag and was left only minimally satisfied. like come on. guy who pretends to be so cool and confident yet has a very obvious low self-esteem? that is my absolute jam. i need to put him in situations i need to show what it takes to make him give up his high and mighty act i need to see him crying and pathetic please

22. your favourite part of canon that everyone else ignores

c!joel having issues with his body. he literally said in double life "i'm self-conscious about my minecraft body" and he goes on and on about how tall and muscly and handsome he is. yet i can't remember a single fic that delves into that. sigh. guess i'm gonna have to write it myself.

Okay so Hanamuke

Nobody ever talks about the lore on this one. It drives me insane. Did you know it came out the same day I decided I'd run away from home cuz that fucks me up /pos anyway

The lyrics are straight-forward enough. Nirvana (that's his name okay bro trust me) is running away from an abusive situation. Lyrically, he lists this as "anger to culling", "diappointment to our rotfather", "not able to come out", "not able to wed", "death of your grandpa", "anger of abuse", "disgustingness of our rotfather", "dull pain in right lung/heart".

Visually (screenshots below, can't read red text :/), it also looks like he has siblings(?) that appear younger than him. Five hands hold onto him, presumably his siblings, parents, and aforementioned grandfather. The placement of the hands, and later symbolism, reads as sexual abuse too.

We'll come back to the other sexual abuse symbolism, cuz it's a metaphor within a plotline type of deal. As to what made me interested to write a meta on this song. *Points* guys there's a cult there

I left the little flyer for you all to read. This guy here is the man putting up the flyers that initially caught Nirvana's attention, and who he was following to Apple Blossom Land. The red eyes is a pretty obvious sign that the place is no good, not to mention how vague it is. They just want people, they don't care who, no further details needed

Then there's also this guy, whose truck Nirvana was riding on the back of. Who drove away from Apple Blossom Land, and didn't stop to let Nirvana keep going towards it. Suspiciously with a tattoo of a flower blossom. Which. Sir you could have tried harder, but A for effort ig

But. Most interestingly of all. I think that's Ito and Ote's cult. With Zoy and all that shit. Their cult is heavily tied to flower symbolism. They're in nearly every song directly tied to that plot. They decorate events in both Wedding Festival and Want to be Cremated, they're even titular in Flower War, and Ito is compared to golden kerria. And now we have apple blossoms, which represent the continuation after death

this is a tricky one cause i think you can only really have this if you're writing a multichaptered fic. which i don't do very much! but... yes. back when i was still working on dr54 (the full title is too long lmao) there were a few people who threw some theories that were correct. i can't remember them off the top of my head, nor do i want to list them because of spoilers (it's on hiatus but i hope to return someday!! my dear ocs i love you) but they got me SCREAMING to skep in dms ;v;

write. like, seriously, write a lot. i've been writing fanfiction since i was 11, starting at crappy oc insert niche shit that's since been nuked off the internet, to whatever i have now. and please do have fun with it! both of that sound very generic, but it's definitely true. if you wind up feeling stressed and upset by writing, which is supposed to be something that should make you feel fulfilled, then maybe it's time to take a step back.

on another note... if you're posting to ao3 and are hoping to get some people reading your works: don't self-deprecate (don't say stuff like "this fic sucks" or "idk how to do a summary" because people will NOT read out of pity), don't overtag, make sure to have proper spacing between your paragraphs (a lot of people are willing to overlook simple errors as long as it's readable, aka the spacing), and... i think that's about it, really. if you need help with ao3 posting, tbh just hit me up off-anon and i can help (<- has helped friends before with it).

😁 — what’s your favorite part about being part of the rpc? The talents I've seen. I've met some really talented writers and I just adore all my writing partners and the peeps I follow and haven't interacted with. (pspsps come write with me if we haven't yet.)

Understand I have nothing against exclusivity, you're allowed to keep yourself restricted to an RP circle, but I'm talking elitism. I don't care if you use double small aesthetic text or icons that are full photo images, I will still write with you. But I've come across some DNIs and rule pages that were like basically making it impossible to follow them because of petty aesthetic stuff. And know right now that I am not complaining about being so selective, that's 100% their right. But it's irritating most of the time when they turn around and wonder why no one will write with them and sometimes I just wanna say "Well if you made your blog a little more approachable and were a little more lenient to work with, you might have more partners." But then that's judging and that's not my place to do. Rp is kinda a "you can't really have your cake and eat it too all the time" thing. Sometimes you have to open up a little and expand and give other writers chances in order to get somewhere.

When you make yourself completely unapproachable, what do you expect?

My other big salt which is my biggest one of all is anon hate and drama/discourse shit. I am way too old for the petty drama stuff and stuff like sending someone a KYS anon because of something as petty as getting blocked or over shipping and such is a major strike against me ever following you. I don't care for callout culture because 99% of the time it's false claims made because so and so got blocked and wanted revenge.

On the flip side, it's also BS to be petty and threaten suicide just because of shipping or being blocked or whatever. There's other people to write with, you have control of your own experience, and not everyone is going to stick around, but online harassment and threats aren't the way to go about getting out your feelings.

Riddle stares at the cat and the cat stares back. It’s just a cat, there’s no way there’s anything special about it, and yet.

He’s constantly telling himself he won’t be jealous over a cat, how immature was that? But he swears it’s trying to make him jealous. Everytime it’s sleeping on your lap it looks at him with these narrow eyes. Is he going crazy?

He’s just generally unsettled by this cat. He knows he’s your boyfriend and you love him, you wouldn’t replace him with a cat or anything like that. But it’s so odd... are you sure it’s not a magical animal? He’s never seen a common housecat with bright red fur like this.

Oh boy.

He’s so excessively grumpy about the cat. Calls it “furball” and complains about everything it does. Mainly shedding and hogging your attention, which makes you remind him that he also does both of these things, much to his dismay.

Leona is the one to have a genuine rivalry with the cat. He talks to it when you’re gone, sometimes. “You think you’re better than me, huh? That you can just steal their attention like that?” You heard him say one day.

He’s so caught up in jealousy he probably doesn’t really think about the cat looking just like a mini-Leona until you point it out, laughing at how cute that was. He loses his mind at that.

Azul Ashengrotto

So Azul gets to know your cat. Your smug, cuddly cat with that silvery fur the same shade as his hair. Your cat who absolutely does not leave the two of you alone when he comes over.

And Azul is very deeply unsettled. He goes back to his dorm room, looks at himself in the mirror and repeats, “I am not going to get jealous over a cat” over and over. Then he does anyway.

He just... he can’t help it! It never lets him anywhere near you! He knows this damn cat is plotting his downfall too. He gets huffy when he can’t get his way because of it, and you have to tell him that you do in fact love him more than your cat.

Kalim Al-Asim

Oh, you have a cat? That’s so cool! What’s their name? Can Kalim pet it? He’s more excited about the fact that you have a pet than anything else, really.

If the cat wants to make him jealous, it’s gonna have to work hard for that. Kalim notices they look alike and he’s basically squealing, your cat is so cute!

I can’t see him ever having any sort of rivalry with the cat, honestly. He’ll run around trying to pet it and scare it off with how sunshiney he gets. This cat will regret ever wanting to become Kalim’s love rival, because such a role is impossible to achieve, especially when you’re so cute and fluffy.

Vil Schoenheit

Doesn't mind the cat, most of the time. He actually thinks it's rather cute, with the purple eyes and golden fur, it kinda looks like him. Vil is confident enough he won't get jealous over some pet.

But he does pick up on how... smug... it gets when it wins your affections and keeps him from going near you. And that just makes him uneasy. Is he getting paranoid or is the cat sneering at him?

He just moves on and tries to not let it affect him too much. At some point, maybe, he’ll bring up with a hint of shame that he thinks your cat might not like him very much... all while the pet glares at him in the background.

Idia Shroud

Just when he thought you couldn’t get any more perfect, he finds out you have a cat...! A big, fluffy bright blue cat with yellow eyes -- Wait, that kind of looks like him.

Oh, well! He loves it too much to pick up on the rivalry early on. Idia tries with all his might to approach the animal, going pspsps at it and buying it treats, the whole nine yards.

But the cat despises him and that makes him so upset honestly. He complains often about how he just couldn’t seem to max out the affection stat with your pet. Surprisingly, he doesn’t actually mind it hogging your affection too much, though he does get huffy every now and then.

Malleus Draconia

Oh, dear, it’s such a cute pet that you have. Black green eyed cats are considered a sign of good luck in the Valley of Thorns, didn’t you know? They’re an animal fitting for the future consort~

He watches your cat from afar. Also barely minds that it hogs your affection all the time, Malleus finds it so endearing how much love you’re willing to give to an animal. You’re really a kind person, aren’t you?

Malleus doesn’t pick up on how the cat detests him at all. He’s too busy looking at you with those tender eyes and smile, thinking about how adorable you are while you hold your cat and coo at it.
