On the last Thursday in October, Punkie Night takes place at Hinton Saint George, near Ilminster in Somerset. The local children go begging for candles bearing lanterns made out of manglewurzles, or mangold. The lanterns are of the same design as the Halloween hollowed out turnips or pumpkins, lit up by candles inside, and it is bad luck to turn down the kids’ requests. Unlike their Halloween cousins however, the punkie lanterns are ornately carved and decorated and the proceedings are led by a Punkie King and Punkie Queen who have been judged to have come up with the most impressive lanterns. The origin of the punkie lanterns are alleged to have been as way-finding aids for the drunken men of Hinton returning home from the nearby Chiselborough Fair, put out by their worried wives and girlfriends. This is possible, but it is just as likely the lanterns have the same ancient symbolism as those of Halloween - representations of the heads of the dead, indicating the onset of the dark time of the year at the old Celtic festival of Samhain.
Hello DCA fandom! I don't post much, as I don't really have a dynamic style, but I had an AU idea that I might actually write.
I'm calling it "Bar Stools & Piano Tops", BSPT. It's basically an AU were there's a popular bar/club where Sun, Moon and Y/N are the main cast.
The designs as they are! I'll put my thoughts and writing under the read more.
So these are current and temporary design concepts. As it stands the bar is currently called "Celestial Rabbit". Sun, Moon Y/N and the rest of the cast (not drawn because I'm lazy) work there. You're a humble member of the waitstaff, sometimes helping head chief Chica in the kitchen. Moon is the bartender, and your other coworker Sun is another member of Waitstaff, however on Friday nights and the weekend he plays the piano for patrons. You're thankful to have gotten this job after having nothing after college, but shit's weird in this town, this club especially.
Celeb School Game Show, starring an ensemble cast as celebrities on a game show, including Jennifer Coolidge (Chloe Fineman), Pete Davidson (Rami Malek), and Rami Malek (Pete Davidson).
had a dream where i was only nominally in charge of the narrative. it was my dream but some characters would punish me for it. as the dream went on more and more people i knew in real life, people i didn’t “create” left the story as other characters bled into it. it was still a dream so it’s not like i had any real control to begin with. woah .the consequences.
1984 STRIKES AGAIN! And it's full of surprises. The year of 1984, for television, was awesome. So many of the new shows that came out were long-running, super-popular successes. Even the shows that didn't make it still leave an impression on the public today. I talk about all of it in this exciting, thrill-packed video. You'll also find out other TV events of 1984 (some of them are pretty wild) and huge celebrities that began their careers on television this year (i.e. Keanu Reeves). Come on in and have some fun! https://youtu.be/TsHj-VFfa6I
He's sassy, silly, likes to play with every rock he sees and has a heart of gold.
He saved me, and I named him Morgan cause I remember crying in my room the day of Christmas late at night cause I couldn't have passed it worst through my anxiety and depression and I was reading and feeling so happy that my comfort characters showed up I wasn't expecting it.
