Fire In The Sky

I must say that this sunrise looks more awesome than yesterday’s, but the sky sure changes quickly. After a few minutes this was all gone and we were back to the yuck grey sky.

Oh well, I enjoyed it while it was here. One of the benefits of living in the country.

I got to spend the weekend

with family in northern Michigan, visiting orchards and wineries and enjoying the spectacular show nature is putting on there. The colors of the trees are mesmerizing, I have never seen anything like it in person, and we had cloudy skies. But it is also nice to be back home. We are expecting our first signs of frost tonight, so I hope that more bird activity is upon us. Have a beautiful Sunday evening!

That's not one race this weekend, but three! A total of 30.3 miles! Because why not do your first marathon after running a one miler and 5k?

At 6:41:39, I finished dead last in my age group for the marathon. I couldn't be happier. That's with chronic anemia caused by hereditary spherocytosis, a femur that is pinned together, and running 4.1 miles the day before. My goal was to finish and I did.

Beyond just finishing, running through Detroit was an absolute privilege. We ran into Canada and back out again, wound our way through Eastern Market, got to enjoy the amazing Halloween decorations in Indian Village and enjoyed an amazing sunrise.

Most importantly, it was an amazing birthday weekend for my little sister, Kız, to enjoy what has really been the balm in her life, the absolutely crazy and welcoming endurance sports community.

It'll probably be a couple years before I go for a second marathon, but I'm looking forward to

I wasn't at Greenfield Village for Motor Muster, I was there for opening day of Historic Base Ball. But that didn't mean that that this original Cobra Daytona didn't catch my eye. Motor Muster 2023.
