^^^ From @InfoAgeStrategy.
Prof. Fred Hoffman is a retired US Army human intelligence officer and US military attaché in Germany. He served in Germany around the same time Vladimir Putin was a lieutenant colonel in the KGB stationed in Dresden in the now defunct East Germany (”German Democratic Republic”).
Prof. Hoffman believes that Putin hates Ukraine because the Russian dictator sees it as a hotbed of democratic contagion which could spread to Russia. Putin blamed West Germany for corrupting the glorious communist East Germany with ideas about democracy, freedom, and higher standards of living.
Putin’s war is largely a clash of civilizations between modern Western democracies and kleptocratic autocracies. Putin’s invasion of Ukraine was essentially a declaration of war against the West. People who characterize the war as a “territorial dispute” are putting on public display their farcical ignorance of Russian history and Eastern Europe.

It's been wild watching how far russia is willing to go to justify the genocide in Ukraine. They are willing to use the tragedy and the cold dead bodies of their own civilians to explain why they are killing us. They aren't even good at lying, but somehow it's always enough to make someone believe.
At first they said the terrorists arrived in a car with ukrainian license plates. Then disproved it. They said the terrorists were moving towards the Belarusian border. Then quickly changed that version to the Ukrainian border instead. Apparently, the citizens of Tajikistan recruited by ISIS worked for Ukraine. When putin shits his pants, it's because the Ukrainians forced him to.
Not even a few hours had passed before the russians got to writing on the shells with which they bomb Ukraine that this is their revenge for the Moscow's Crocus Hall. "To the pigs (that's what they call us) for the Crocus Hall"
Tumblr media
This is not surprising in the slightest. But it is still wild to see. Russian society is sick. There is nothing sacred for them. No empathy even for their own. No respect for the victims. Everything revolves around one goal: to justify their hatred and their crimes.

oh my here we go.
so today Russian ‘court’ (and I will refer to any and governing body institutions in quotes because no, they hold no power, they were never elected, they are not mine, never have been and never will be) has declared LGBTQ+ outlaw. What it means? In short, every queer person in Russia is now in extreme danger.
It’s nothing new. The insane which hunt has begun a few years ago. Now of course the whole rhetoric is based on innate ignorance, homophobia, transphobia and hatred to anybody who’s not straight or holds ‘traditional values’ not to mention the desire of the ‘government’ to be so unlike ‘the west’, it’s a classic we vs them type of propaganda. For them it’s a tool. Keeping people frightened is a tool. Don’t think for a second that they are doing it based on some sort of belief system. No. They don’t have it. Which is much worse. They’re doing it as a last resort. You see, no matter what the media is telling you (yes your media is lying to you too? that’s what it’s meant to do now, it’s coming from someone with a degree in journalism), there’s no actual way to know how many people support or don’t support the war. Any and all ‘statistics’ you might see or hear are extremely inaccurate. Why? Well let’s see! 1) If it’s a state controlled media, it’s obvious: they want the world to see the perfect picture of a ‘strong Russia’ which they know is not true, and since ALL the media that operates in Russia IS state controlled, they’re out of the question. 2) Let’s take any international media then you say, they’re no better. Why? Well let’s see! They have no reliable sources as well. Any polls you see hold no value. People are scared and silenced, no one will truthfully answer the ‘do you support the war on Ukraine and putin’ truthfully because they know they can go to jail, hell, they will lie if they have to. So yes, even information from reliable media isn’t reliable. Clear? Clear.
Now. Why it’s important. Because the ‘laws’ that are being enforced, are a clear sign that nothing is like it seems. The unrest is clear, from all sides as well: those who oppose the war and those who support (they’re not really happy which makes me happy, suck it) and the ‘government’ has to go to extreme lengths to please the second group and to uphold the idea of stability and ‘having it under control’. They know they can’t stop those striving for peace, they’ve already done everything to ensure people don’t speak up - from jailing them to making them flee, to kidnapping, to murdering them - and people still do.
The regime is crumbling. It’s something to keep in mind. The signs are there. They’re running around like headless chickens and trying to something. If you don’t know, they’re trying to abolish women’s rights to abortions, it’s going quite successfully for them, as state after state is creating ‘laws’ banning them. Their hunt of LGBTQ+ people came to the grand conclusion today. The peak of their evil. It’s crumbling but people will suffer and many will have their mental and physical health destroyed in the process. It’s not the price anyone should pay but it’s a small, tiny silver lining for all my Russian queers: don’t give up, hold on, stay safe. If you don’t feel save, please don’t feel pressured to do anything that might put you in danger. We need you healthy and free. You’re not alone, as much as they want you to think otherwise.
You’re loved, you’re cherished, you’re important. ❤️

List of russian lies in the UN or during diplomatic speeches:
1. In January-February of 2022 russia claimed in the UN that they will not invade Ukraine, that they have no plans to invade Ukraine, and evidence of upcoming invasion are lies made by the US or others.
End of the same month russia launched a full-scale invasion.
2. Russia claimed in the UN that the reason they attacked Ukraine was to fight some "local nazis" and that they are indeed good guys fighting Ukrainian hatred. That, however, does not explain why: a) russia opposed the grain deal until Turkey threatened to make it work one way or the other, showing their intention to starve hundreds of millions of people in neutral countries for no reason whatsoever, b) russia refused to allow UN or Red Cross etc to observe the conditions of POWs or to open humanitarian corridors for people to escape from Mariupol or other conflict zones, with thousands of witnesses reporting abductions, filtration camps, and shelling of retreating civilians, c) russia claimed to only want to protect local russian population, yet completely destroyed whole cities in majorly-russian-speaking Eastern Ukraine, like Mariupol (satellites showing mass graves), and bombing mainly civilian targets - schools, hospitals, theatres, a shopping mall during peak hours, a train station where people waited for evacuation, apartment buildings, etc. Currently we can see that there is no effort on the russian-controlled side of Dnipro river to help people in flooded areas, with videos and citizen testimonies reporting shelling of all disaster aid attempts, d) russia claimed that they only hate the "nazi" Ukrainian government, yet they openly shelled Ukrainian power grids during winter, for no other reason than to leave innocent civilians with no gas or electricity.
3. Russian state TV, public figures like Solovyov, former President and Prime Minister as well as head of security council of russia Medvedev openly stated either on national TV or in their social media pages that they want to "exterminate" Ukrainians. That the whole country should not exist, that Ukrainian language is fake, etc etc. This is genocidal speech and it is not limited to Ukraine either. The Baltic States, Poland, etc also received such claims - that they "do not exist" that they "belong to russia" or that they "should be invaded". Makes it very obvious who the imperialistic, colonist aggressor actually is. Medvedev also repeatedly threatened Western European countries with missile or even nuclear attack, yet they claim to only be "defending themselves".
4. Lavrov got laughed at during a summit in India for claiming that "russia was invaded by Ukraine". Do I even need to explain why this is a lie? If I do, check 1st point again. Or just turn on your brain.
5. Then there's more sci-fi nutjobby official russian claims (or lies) about - bioweapons in Ukraine, pidgeons carrying disease or weapons to russia, Ukraine having some super-soldiers, or even dark magic, as indicated by russian Ministry of Defense changing the goal of their "special military operation" from "denazification" to "desatanization".
And that's just a few of the main ones. More is discussed in the latest UN meeting, you can watch the video on their official website.
So, knowing all of this, why the fuck would you believe ANYTHING they say? Especially about the destruction of dam?
Russia has repeatedly shown aggressive attitude towards neighbouring countries, claimed their wish to occupy them, russian officials called for extermination of whole nationalities, and both President putin and Belova have enough evidence against them for ICC to issue a warrant for them for GENOCIDE AND WAR CRIMES.
If you still believe in russia, despite anything they themselves say, you're either a genocide-supporter or unbelievably stupid.

Russia gave her a harsher sentence for placing stickers in a grocery store then they do men who kill women.
17 Nov 2023
Russian artist Alexandra Skochilenko has been sentenced to jail for seven years after being found guilty of spreading “false information” about the Russian military by replacing a handful of supermarket price tags with messages criticising the war in Ukraine.
The 33-year-old, known as Sasha, is one of thousands of Russians to be detained, fined or jailed for speaking out against Moscow’s invasion of its neighbour amid an escalating crackdown on free speech and opposition to President Vladimir Putin.
Skochilenko was arrested in her native St Petersburg in April 2022, after an elderly customer at the supermarket found the slogans on the price tags and notified the police.
“The Russian army bombed an arts school in Mariupol. Some 400 people were hiding in it from the shelling,” one read, in reference to Russia’s brutal siege of the southern Ukrainian city. Another said, “Russian conscripts are being sent to Ukraine. Lives of our children are the price of this war.”
Judge Oksana Demiasheva delivered the verdict on Thursday hours after Skochilenko, who has a congenital heart defect and coeliac disease, had made a final statement to the court, asking for compassion and to be set free.
As well as the prison term, the artist was banned from using the internet for three years.
Skochilenko, wearing a colourful T-shirt decorated with a large red heart, reacted with shock to the sentence, covering her face and wiping away tears.
Supporters shouted “shame” and “we’re with you Sasha”, the AFP news agency reported.
Skochilenko’s lawyers left without giving any comment.
Skochilenko’s arrest came about a month after authorities adopted a law effectively criminalising any public expression about the war that deviated from the Kremlin’s official line.
Human rights group Memorial – now banned in Russia – said police spent 10 days interrogating supermarket staff and inspecting security camera footage before arresting the artist.
“They sometimes give less for murder than for five price tags in a supermarket,” Boris Vishnevsky, a politician linked to the opposition Yabloko party, told AFP.
“Hopefully, someday, the pendulum will turn the other way.”
Skochilenko was accused of committing what the state prosecutor described as a serious crime out of “political hatred” towards Russia. He had asked for her to be jailed for eight years.
Skochilenko admitted to swapping the tags but denied that the text written on them was false. She said she was a pacifist who valued human life above all else.
“How weak is our prosecutor’s faith in our state and society if he thinks our statehood and public safety can be ruined by five little pieces of paper?” she said in court.
“Everyone sees and knows that you are not judging a terrorist. You’re not trying an extremist. You’re not even trying a political activist. You’re judging a pacifist,” she said.
Tumblr media
Skochilenko’s friends and supporters said the verdict was a disgrace [Olga Maltseva/AFP]
Amnesty International condemned the verdict.
“Her persecution has become synonymous with the absurdly cruel oppression faced by Russians openly opposing their country’s criminal war,” it said in a statement.
Memorial has designated Skochilenko a political prisoner and has launched a campaign calling for her release.
She has already been in detention for nearly 19 months, meaning that her overall term will be reduced by more than two years, since every day served in a pre-trial detention centre counts as 1.5 days of time served in a regular penal colony.
But she has struggled in custody due to pre-existing health conditions, and her need for a gluten-free diet, according to her lawyers and her partner.
According to OVD-Info, a prominent rights group that monitors political arrests and provides legal aid, a total of 19,834 Russians have been arrested between February 24 2022, when Russia began its invasion, and late October 2023 for speaking out or demonstrating against the war.
Also on Thursday, opposition politician Vladimir Milov was convicted in absentia of spreading false information about the army and sentenced to eight years. Milov, who was once Russia’s deputy energy minister and is now an ally of imprisoned opposition leader Alexei Navalny, has left the country.

Why the Kremlin will fear Dagestan’s anti-Semitic mob
Local officials have been trying to walk a delicate line between alienating local Muslim sentiment in the turbulent North Caucasus and doing anything to stir up further inter-ethnic violence. [...] But this incident may force them – and Moscow – to take a stronger line. [...] The other is the degree to which this issue is being weaponised. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky quickly turned it into a propaganda point, blaming the incident on what he called Russia’s ‘widespread culture of hatred toward other nations.’ Conversely Sergei Melikov, head of the Dagestan Republic, has suggested that the violence was instigated by Ukraine.  [...] Of course, it suits Moscow to paint the protests as the result of sinister Ukrainian machinations just as much as it suits Kyiv to use them to demonise Russia as a land of prejudice and hate. Nonetheless, the Kremlin clearly fears that rising Muslim violence will not only further complicate its relationship with Israel but also risks destabilising the North Caucasus. It also fears that Ukrainian allies and intelligence agencies, which have already demonstrated their willingness to commit acts of sabotage and subversion within Russia’s borders, have little reason not to exacerbate this problem. This makes the crisis a serious security issue.
The Storming of Uytash
The attempted pogrom is not just rooted in antisemitic messaging, but in systemic dynamics in the region. General socioeconomic conditions in the republic continue to deteriorate. Basic necessities to live such as electricity, water, and gas are irregularly supplied, which led to sustained small protests only a few months ago. Additionally, Russia’s war in Ukraine has impacted Dagestan heavily, with significant casualties. Public appeals and small actions do not regularly succeed, with the authorities sweeping them aside. In some cases, residents have appealed directly to President Putin because of Governor Melikov’s unresponsiveness. [...] Melikov has all but eliminated channels for moderate public expression. This leads to tactical outbidding that favors dramatic, extreme actions. An inability to protest built up pressure until a mob emerged. Expressions of solidarity with Palestinians are effectively banned, despite both Russia’s growing ties with Hamas and that the attempted protests are not anti-state. Nightly prayers are essentially the sole form of collective support for Palestine permitted by the state. Analysis of the event’s causes should be wary of overemphasizing individual actors’ roles in organizing it. The popular «Utro Dagestan» Telegram channel has received considerable attention for amplifying antisemitic narratives and purportedly instigating the attempted pogrom. Previously, it played a major role coordinating the anti-mobilization protests. However, its repeated calls for greater and continued resistance in September 2022 were not acted upon after a couple of days. [...] The influence of Utro Dagestan deserves focus, but assigning it causality would be misconstrued. The security services’ strategy came across as, at best, poorly executed containment, at worst, active passivity. They largely refused to intervene, other than attempting to keep the mob out of the airport and off of the tarmac.  There are three apparent explanations for the non-engagement strategy. First, instructions came from the top, with the authorities deciding they could maintain sufficient control over the situation, while allowing the mob to release its built-up emotions. [...] Second, non-engagement could suggest that the security services supported the mob’s actions. As such, they decided to not stop the attempted pogrom. Finally, the authorities could have decided non-engagement was the best strategy to avoid escalation, considering the threat of an armed mob.  [...] The arrival of a military convoy in Makhachkala indicates the government’s preparation for continued troubles. As seen in the anti-mobilization protests, Dagestan’s young men are typically prepared to clash with police, so violence at the airport was not entirely surprising. However, the tarmac breachers went further than the usual brawling, with them firing shots into the air. This fact will not be overlooked. The authorities have been closely watching dynamics related to youth radicalization, calls for partisan action, and militant activity. Dagestan, and likely the rest of the North Caucasus, is now facing heightened repression as a result of the storming of Makhachkala’s airport. This repression will not address actual problems or mobilizing factors, but add pressure within a strained system. The increase in antisemitic incidents reveal the potential for an explosion, as they represent uncontrolled violence beyond the state’s control—but, for now, it is not targeting the authorities.

Hi, I hope this isn't rude, but could you please breakdown your thoughts on the whole 'people saying celebrities are terrible because they are zionist, or similar things' thing? Because I've seen it a lot.
this is a little long just because I wanted to be thorough in explaining the reasoning and thought processes here so sorry if you weren’t up for that.
well, just based on historical fact, claiming jews are not indigenous to the levant is asinine and antisemitic. so when people are upset someone is a zionist, they’re upset they believe in jewish indigeneity. that, and they grossly misunderstand zionism and its many forms. they hear zionist and immediately jump to “this person hates palestinians, wants them all dead, and bootlicks for the Israeli government” and that’s where 99% of problems lie when discussing it. because that’s not what it means. the root belief of zionism is that jews have the right to self determination in the land they’re indigenous to, not that no one else can too. there’s no tenant of zionism that states you HAVE to wipe everyone else in the region out in order to self determine there.
now, there’s political and Christian zionism which are both corrupt and bigoted versions of zionism (most jews agree with this, from what I can tell). it’s christian and political zionism that’s used in the way leftists think ALL zionism is. christians use their zionism to be Islamophobic and continue voting for republicans because they fetishize jews and the modern state of Israel. politicians use their zionism to beguile american christian voters and further sow seeds of hate in their base. both these camps use jews as scapegoats for their hatred and lust for power, and progressives have fallen for it hook line and sinker because terrorist organizations like hamas know they can work both sides with this and some misinformation disguised as colorful infographics on social media.
just like the russian bots that have been spewing disinformation to rally support for putin and hate for ukraine, terrorists use leftists’ fundamental misunderstanding of zionism, judaism, and their internal bias toward jews to gain support for hamas, claiming hamas is simply fighting back against israel. but they use language leftists have become obsessed with to do it - like colonialism, for example. they know leftists give a strong response to that language and are prone to fall victim to propaganda, and they’ve used it to their advantage for decades. palestinians haven’t had an election since 2007. would freedom fighters do that? no. freedom fighters value - you guessed it - freedom.
my thoughts are that leftists fall victim to disinformation like “zionism = colonialism because jews are all white Europeans” because they refuse to vet their sources and responsibly engage with the things happening in the world. they would much rather scream at and boycott and ostracize a minority community than do the work because screaming is easier and more people hear it. being mad about zionism for these people has become a social competition to see who can seem the most progressive, and it’s only shown their bare asses. they’re refusing to listen to the 70% of palestinians who want a peaceful resolution with Israel, the people of gaza who marched during oppression chanting anti hamas chants, and refuse to acknowledge what happened on Oct 7th because all of it would make supporting hamas the wrong thing to do. they’re too deep in it now. they can’t admit they’ve been fucking up. they can’t admit that they wanted revolution in their own country so bad that they yelled over and trampled the people they claimed to be trying to help, and they can’t admit they’ve fallen for propaganda because they’ve convinced themselves they’re immune. they believe they’d punch nazis and hide jews and they’re soooo progressive there’s no way they’d fall for obvious lies. but they have. and they will continue to do so until it’s their lives being played with by privileged assholes in another country with racial biases.
unless someone who identifies as zionist is actually calling for the death and/or relocation of palestinians in the region, then no, they’re not terrible. it’s truly that simple.

you think putin wants to re-establish the russian empire? really? even putin would know that that feasibly couldn’t happen. you’re talking about a non-western power being allowed to expand itself onto other territories, and you think they will face no threat from america’s near 300 army bases across the planet? wouldn’t the consequences he’s faced from the war in ukraine be lesson enough, like the amount of sanctions, and the strengthening of ukraine’s military by the US and the UK? what are you basing your conception of politics on, just vibes? maybe put aside your hatred for russian and think about the practicalities of what you’re saying.
you think putin wants to re-establish the russian empire? really?
Not quite as literally as some of his supporters wish, no. But his "Historical Unity" speech was very explicit about his revanchist view of Russian history and the desire for Russia to play a direct role in countries which are in "essentially the same historical and spiritual space" as Russia. The invasion of Ukraine is the most openly aggressive form of this, but you can also see the more subtle influences it has on Russian strategy in Belarus, Kazakhstan, Moldova, and the Caucasian nations. Formal, direct empire of the 19th century variety has died anyway, today it's about powerful hegemons exerting indirect control over the less powerful.
even putin would know that that feasibly couldn’t happen.
Agreed, but a desire for X can exist independently of practical expectations for X. I want a single-payer healthcare system to begin taking shape in the US, but I'm not planning my life around an expectation that it will be happening soon.
you’re talking about a non-western power being allowed to expand itself onto other territories, and you think they will face no threat from america’s near 300 army bases across the planet?
This is the point in the ask where you begin putting words in my mouth so that you can argue against yourself. I've been clear for quite a while now that I find it extremely unlikely Putin will take any other expansionist actions in Europe outside of Ukraine, especially with how much of a failure the invasion has been. The fears of Russia somehow invading Poland or the Baltics next are totally unfounded. The only other European nation with a serious reason to worry about Russian interventionism is Moldova, and that's in large part because they're so closely tied to the situation in Ukraine.
wouldn’t the consequences he’s faced from the war in ukraine be lesson enough, like the amount of sanctions, and the strengthening of ukraine’s military by the US and the UK?
Yes, it would be enough to stop him. You are angrily agreeing with me.
what are you basing your conception of politics on, just vibes?
I enjoy reading what other people have to say and then assessing the evidence they provide. I would recommend it!
maybe put aside your hatred for russian and think about the practicalities of what you’re saying.
I want you to know that this ask comes very soon after another accusing me of having a relentlessly pro-Russian bias. Have you considered that other people may be analyzing these matters based on more than picking a side and cheerleading

it is incredibly telling that when useful idiots claim they despise both sides equally, they somehow express real hatred towards just one side, the one under attack (they will go on and on about nazis in Ukraine and then add a perfunctory "Russia is fascist" or "I despise Putin"), and when they claim that they feel for all the victims, they never mention any specific victims or war crimes, unless they can squeeze out some hatred for, once again, the side that is under attack and trying to survive a genocide (at some point last year brendanicus et al excitedly told each other about some video that supposedly showed an Ukrainian soldier eating the corpse of a Russian soldier; but the destruction of the dam doesn't make their hearts bleed)

On February 25, The New York Times published an article titled “The Spy War: How the CIA Secretly Helps Ukraine Fight Putin.” This report was not the result of any leak, but was clearly authorized from the highest level: the CIA brought reporters in to tell the story. Though many spoke on the condition of anonymity to “discuss intelligence matters and sensitive diplomacy,” they do not even create the pretense that this is a story that the CIA doesn’t want the public to know. The clear purpose, stated almost explicitly near the end of the article, is to guilt the Republicans in Congress into supporting Ukraine aid, with the argument that we are “in too deep” and cannot abandon them like our erstwhile allies in Afghanistan. The impact of the article was muted and it was barely discussed outside of those critical of Ukraine aid, because neither the CIA nor the Timesseem to have realized the implications of these admissions: it shows that the post-Maidan government of Ukraine pro-actively made itself the base of a hostile conspiracy against Russia.
The short summary of what The New York Times presents is that after the U..S-backed “Maidan Revolution” in Ukraine in 2014, the newly appointed spymaster went to the intelligence headquarters to find that all of the files had been destroyed when the previous government left. He immediately called the CIA and MI6 to form an alliance to counter Russia. They created a specialized anti-Russia division, staffed exclusively by people born after the fall of the USSR (at that time, no older than 23) and began training them in spying on and sabotaging Russia. The Ukrainian intelligence agents were anti-Russia zealots who expressed a hatred of all Russian speakers, not simply opposition to Putin’s regime or Russian imperialism. The CIA were unable to control their proteges, who carried out violent missions against Russia and the allied “People’s Republics.” This is described as an American “beachhead” against Russia in Ukraine. Since the February 2022 invasion, the CIA has been involved in acts of war against Russia from a network of U.S.-funded bases across Ukraine.
We haven’t heard any of the normal pontificating about “operational security” and “sources and methods” since this was released. The CIA wants us to read this investigation, and the government isn’t pretending otherwise. Besides the transparent purpose—that it should guilt people into funding Ukraine—there are a few other theories as to why this was released. The first would be that it is a “limited hangout,” meaning they are admitting this much in the hopes people don’t look further into it. The next is that it is what some call “pre-bunking,” which is to say that they know a scandalous story is coming out and this is to get ahead of it. But it takes at least a few weeks to produce a story of this size, if not a couple of months, so it would be really risky to release this hoping it would come out before other information that they could not control the release of; the Times claims to have conducted over 200 interviews with only two authors. The other possibility is that it signifies a coming break up between the CIA and Ukrainian intelligence, which is possible, given that The New York Times published another article titled, “Mutual Frustrations Arise in US-Ukraine Alliance,” which described the relationship in terms clearly meant to invoke a troubled marriage. However, the most likely answer is the simplest: they are proud of what they have done, and think by telling the world it will encourage more funding.

But in all seriousness, it just makes me helplessly furious to meet people in cozy West European homes who don't even take that cowardly, self-deluding stance of "uwu if we keep giving Putin what he wants then SURELY he'll be satisfied one day and leave us alone", but just. outright. go "the people of Ukraine (and Poland and the Baltics and Finland and...) are a good and virtually cost-less sacrifice to Putin for us to make to keep us cozy".
The first kind of people are making me despair with how WILFULLY ignorant you can be.
The second kind. Just this helpless fury. I wanna hit them with furniture. Pure hatred. Fucking scum.
Oh and "well if they don't want to be attacked by the Russians they could just move away from territory Russia wants", which is??? So beyond words???

Pictured: people who are afraid to talk to their neighbours in real life let alone form a tenant union or help elderly with carrying groceries, but online will larp as le epic soviet nazi slayers.
If you're motivated by hatred of fascists or sheer bloodlust that allows you to kill/punch/harass the right targets, you're fucking doing it wrong. Leftism/socialism needs to flow from place of love and compassion for other marginalized people, not just hatred of 'fascists'.
Partially because that can be easily coopted - note that right now Putin is using the language of 'fighting fascists' to justify his genocidal war in Ukraine, and a lot of tankies are buying that.
We need to fight fascists, and we will almost certainly need to kill some of them in self-defense - but if what you're feeling about that is excitement and bloodlust, you're not an activist, you're an edgelord looking for an excuse to kill and maim someone, and people in power will happily coopt your language to redirect it elsewhere (see: how large chunk of feminist movement was slowly coopted by conservatives into terfdom over the last decade because they took feminist hatred of 'men' and reframed it as hatred of 'men, and that means trans women').

SOTU - 2024
Well, I'm forcing myself to watch the State of the Union while I grade speeches, so I figured I'd record my reactions and thoughts here.
Do I hope for the words "Immediate Ceasefire"? Absolutely. Will we get them? Looking at the track record, probably not. But I remain optimistic because otherwise I'd be six feet under by now; ANYWHO here is a list of my reactions/thoughts/general feelings of the evening's watch.
I do want to give a point of clarity: I technically am identified as a democrat; truly, I'm a socialist, but seeing as how the U.S. is stuck in this godforsaken two-party-system, that is where I am. Though both sides have me feeling very french-revolutionary-esque.
Of course the first thing I see if MTG rifling through her purse on screen. I quite literally despise her.
AP is discussing Ukraine's need for weapons and funding; I would truly rather us align with Ukraine than Isr@el. I will stand unapologetically firm for Palestine and Ukraine.
Who is actually in the cabinet? I know Blinken, Garland, and Buttiegeg. Damn, wish he was running again. Would rather have him than Biden.
How insane is it that the Sec. of Defense didn't even let the White House know that he had to go in for surgery because of cancer. Like, that's just bonkers to me.
Republicans truly look like fucking robots right now. No warm greetings, no hellos, simple nods.
Republicans out here wasting fucking time with that impeachment of Mayorkas. Like how about we house the homeless populations with the money they wasted on this circus.
Oh funky fresh look at the Ultra-Mormon(TM) Mitt Romney.
MTG with that stupid fucking MAGA hat on is just... disgusting. Like this bitch is crazy.
Okay Joe, speed it up down the fucking aisle please. I got papers to grade.
Lowkey Joe looks like he might have had a five-hour energy drink with that big-ole look in his eyes.
I do appreciate that Joe still smiles and is kind to MTG. She truly doesn't deserve it.
Okay this is getting just a wee bit too monarchy for me.
MTG holds up a button saying "Laken Riley..." (couldn't read the rest). Riley was a 14 year old girl murdered by a man who was an illegal immigrant of venezuela, and instead of handling this situation with grace, empathy, and love; MTG and others seem to be capitalizing on her death to push their anti-immigration rhetoric.
Okay, cool selfie skills Joe, but let's get on with it.
ALSO HOW IS JOE BIDEN GONNA BE SO IN DEPTH WITH TECH AND "Savvy" WITH IT WHEN MOTHERFUCKER WANTS TO BAN TIKTOK!? Hello?!
BERNIE AND RAPHAEL! I feel like I haven't seen these guys in 10 million years.
Oh thank god we're starting.
Aww the little hand shake thingy he does with Kamala makes my heart happy.
Did Joe just yell "tony"?!
Wow, even got some republicans clapping for him (probs not a good thing but here we are)
Okay, good bit of humor at the top; and a throwback to the 40s. Funky fresh.
Yeah we ain't living in ordinary times for damn sure.
Interesting point of democracy being attacked here in the U.S. AND Internationally. (Mentions Ukraine and Putin; no word on Gaza yet).
Someone busted out a Ukrainian flag and shook it; rock on.
OH SHIT HE GOT MIKE JOHNSON TO CLAP!
Appreciate the insistance that the U.S. won't send troops to UKR.
Good use of Reagan to connect with the Repubs; and compare to the predecessor (aka Tr*mp).
Mike Johnson nodding instead of clapping about the predecessor comment, trying to save his ass in Orange Man's eyes.
Welcome to NATO, Sweden!
If there is one thing that should connect Democrats and Republicans; it's hatred for Putin. Yet there's a mix of Repubs standing in agreement and sitting to back up the predecessor's comment on Putin doing "whatever the hell he wants"
Talking about Jan 6. What breaks my heart? My parents still believe it wasn't an insurrection. Yikes on Bikes for me.
The line "You can't love your country only when you win" hits hard and even got Mike Johnson to applaud in agreement.
Foreign AND Domestic. Need a hefty focus on that with the right-wing republican group (@ MTG, Gaetz, Cruz, etc.)
Discussing IVF in Alabama; good connection to the overturning of Rowe v. Wade. It sucks that Republicans HAVE THE POWER to protect IVF nationally but shot the damn bill down not even a week ago.
ABORTION IS A HUMAN RIGHT. BODILY AUTONOMY IS A HUMAN. FUCKING. RIGHT. (@ The Missouri Senators who support taking away bodily autonomy).
WOMEN AREN'T WITHOUT ELECTORAL AND POLITICAL POWER; WE ABOUT TO TURN UP IN FORCE MOTHERFUCKERS!!! Bring back the strats from the 1900s; time to use our power and go bonkers.
Someone get Joe a glass of water please. Motherfucker looks a bit parched and keeps coughing. I get that when my throat goes dryyy
Can Biden not restore RvW? Can he not by an executive order make RvW the law of the land already?
Revisiting COVID's start from 2020 (Next week is the four year anniversary since the global pandemic).
PFFT idk who just yelled "LIES" but that was comical AF.
Well, the pandemic still controls a big part of our lives... so...don't agree with that shit.
Man, everyone sitting-and-standing must be getting a HELLA calf work out.
Sure, unemployment is down and new jobs are built; but corporate greed is quite literally killing us. Can Congress or Biden do something, damn it?!
Are we beginning to feel it, though? Are we feeling good economics? I doubt we are.
Good job pointing out how both parties have failed to buy american products, but how this admin has established that.
There's a good two rows of Republicans who stand in applause; but the rest just... sit there. Like robots. It's freaky as fuck.
Joe is actually doing pretty great with the flow of this speech. Only a couple of stumbles, but overall pretty gucci. (He'd get a 9/10 on delivery in my public speaking class).
God these fuckers are really gonna make me run for office at this damn point.
Removing poisonous lead pipes... but there's still a water crisis in Flint, Biden. Like, what the fuckeroni do you mean?
Yes, let's invest in family farms; lets stop selling our farmland (especially in Missouri) to foreign countries (@ China buying up TONS of Missouri Farmland).
I love that the UAW president is here, because he straight up is my kind of people. Dude wears eat-the-rich shirts and calls out the unethical-ness of billionaires.
UAW President pointing to Biden saying "It's you!"; nah dawg, it's you Sean.
MIDDLE CLASS DID BUILD THE COUNTRY AND UNIONS BUILT THE MIDDLE CLASS MOTHER FUCKERS!!!
Yes we get back up but right now...we might be getting more french revolutionary-esque if y'all don't stop PLAYING WITH OUR LIVES.
Oh jesus not the 4-more-years chants.
Oh now we talking about the future
YES PLEASE END TRICKLE DOWN ECONOMIES.
Says he's not anti-corp; but points out how trickle down economics has only helped the wealthy.
Yeah, how the fuck does it hurt the wealthy to pay just a weeee bit more in taxes? Like dawg, what are you gonna do with another million? What's the point?
Ooooh is Biden about to rope the repubs into some bipartisan shit? Please do.
What is Republicans huge issue with capping insulin? Truly? Who does it harm? Billionaires still get billions.

The world is hypocritical, and absolutely unfair.
But we’ve already know about it, right?
We all see what’s happening in Palestine, and it’s terrifying. It’s devastating. It’s just horrible. No one should experience this level of cruelty, and the world absolutely needs to take actions. Actions, which are yet to be taken.
And it’s disgusting, right?
People do it themselves. They spread news. They write treads and share what can be shared. They go to protests. They boycott companies, that still support Israel. They cancel celebrities, which support Israel. They hate Israel; hate everything connected to it. They do everything to support Palestine; to show that they are not alone.
Palestinians don’t have access to the Internet? People become their voices.
Palestinians doesn’t have food, houses, or means to live? People donate, people help.
People spread information. People block, argue, and hate people who do not speak up about this genocide; hate people who has voice, but still stay unpolitical.
Because it’s disgusting, right? Because no one has the right to see the genocide right in front of them and just look away; just live their lives as if nothing happened.
That’s what happening now in the world. People see the victims of the genocide. People stand with the victim. People help victims. Because you can’t stand with both sides. You can’t support both Palestine and Israel. If you stand with both of them, you just support the aggressor. If you are silent, you just support the aggressor.
You can’t stay silent. You can’t support both sides. You have to hate Israel, and boycott companies that still support Israel.
And that’s right, isn’t it? No one bats an eye. That’s what people do, when one country commits the genocide of another country. That’s what people do. And that’s not cruel. That’s not bad, that’s good and right.
And that isn’t fucking fair.
That’s so fucking unfair that I want to vomit.
Do you know what happened when Ukrainians said the same about russians? People hated Ukrainians. People called them Nazi. People said they were overreacting. People said that not all russians are bad. People took both sides and were fucking helping russians. But when you take both sides, it means that you support the aggressor? Good thing that people just called the genocide of Ukrainians the putin’s war, and that’s it. People called it a fucking conflict, and that’s it.
Ukrainians were and are spreading the information about the war, about the relationship between Ukraine and russia, about history, russia's motives and other aspects, which can't be understood unless you truly know the history of Ukraine. russia’s desire to destroy Ukraine dates way back in time. Their hatred towards Ukraine and Ukrainians has been there for centuries. I’ll not write about all of them (you can read about it on the internet, if you want). But here are the main points for you to understand:
That. Is. Not. A. putin’s war. No. That’s the war russians started against Ukraine in 2014. Yes, russians, not just putin.
It’s not the first war russia started against Ukraine. There were a lot of them.
During all these years, russia killed millions of Ukrainians. As a soviet union, russia occupied Ukraine for 70 years. Ukraine didn’t become a part of soviet union because of their wish. There were wars.
There were three man-made famines in Ukraine, which were conducted by the soviet government (russians if you still haven’t guessed). Russians were taking every food from people, especially in villages, because that’s where Ukrainians had farms, gardens. Russians took everything. If people hid a few seeds just not to starve to death, these people were killed and sent away (where they were either killed and just died because of cold and horrible conditions). Because of starvation, people had to eat their friends, or the corpses of other people.
The second man-made famine is called Holodomor. It derives from Ukrainian words “голод” – “hunger, starvation” and “морити” – “exterminate”. The peak of it happened in 1932-33. Not only Ukraine suffered from it – it also was in other countries, such as Kazakhstan (and some parts of russia even). It is difficult to estimate the exact number of people, who died because of it. Some scientists say 4 million, others – 10 million.
Russia was killing Ukrainians just because they were Ukrainians. Ukrainian language was forbidden more than 100 times. Russia rewrote Ukrainian history and changed the language just to make it more similar to russian.
After the fall of soviet union Ukraine had nuclear weapons. Ukraine gave it up under a few conditions, one of which was that some countries guaranteed Ukraine safety and protection. You know what country was there, guaranteeing this protection? Right, russia.
And in 2014 russia attacked Ukraine.
I said literally nothing to explain the real terror russia committed in Ukraine, but it’s something, right? So basically, if russia is not stopped (like permanently), it will collect more power and attack again. And again. And again.
And russia did this not only in Ukraine. You need to just google “russia’s was crimes” and you will see long lists of the genocides russia committed. Ukraine, Chechnya, Sakartvelo (Georgia, if you don’t know), Syria, and many other countries. Russia is in the constant state of war, which they start all the time.
You see? Russia is a reason for the deaths of thousands of people in different countries.
Ukrainians said this, again and again. You know what happened? People called them Nazi. No, not russians – Ukrainians were Nazi to them.
Ukrainians asked to boycott russians – people said that not all russians were bad. Even now I see posts, video that russia is a good country with a bad government. People like russian artists, sportsmen, and even soldiers. Can you fucking imagine? This soldier killed Ukrainians, raped them and stole from their houses, then posted a video of him flexing his muscles, and everyone just ate it and said that he was sexy. He is a war criminal. And people like him.
When Ukrainians were getting killed for just being Ukrainians, people all over the internet were complaining that Ukraine was getting too much attention. People, who now say “you can’t stay indifferent”, “you can’t be silent”, “you can’t take both sides”, said in the best case nothing about Ukraine. They stayed indifferent, silent, and took the aggressor’s side. Sounds kinda hypocritically, doesn’t it?
Ukrainians were crying for help, and people called them crazy. People said they were too aggressive, and their aggression (harsh words, that’s it) made them uncomfortable. People supported russians, who were committing genocide, and took offence to some words of war victims.
People found some flaws in Ukraine just to say that Ukraine was problematic. Can I say something? Such people are in every country. Homophobic, transphobic, sexist, etc. Yes, there are such people in Ukraine, but so are in other countries. But people didn’t want to see it.
And now, every other post about Palestine has at least one mention of Ukraine. You think to ask for help for Ukraine too? No, to shit on Ukraine.
I was posts that Ukraine has “softest kind of war”, that there is no war or genocide in Ukraine, that Ukraine is just a Nazi country, and deserves everything.
Ukrainians deserve everything just because they are white. They are white, so it doesn’t matter, right? Ukrainians have some privileges. Ukraine got all the attention and help, while Palestine none.
No, I don’t say that Palestine gets a lot of help. And yes, I do think the world has to take actions and actually help.
But it’s not fair to Ukrainians.
You know what russians said on 24.02? They would occupy Ukraine in three days.
You know what the world did during these first days of full-scale war? Nothing. They waited just to see Ukraine collapse. They watched Ukrainians die just to say that it’s a pity, and they stand with Ukraine. They waited, promised some fairy-tails, and continued making business with russia. The world said Ukraine to surrender, to let russia take whatever it wanted, because the world didn’t want any difficulties, wars, and problems. Little they understood that if the Ukrainians gave russia some territories, russia would wait, and then take more, until Ukraine was wholly occupied. And then other neighbour countries.
Only in a few days, when it was clear that Ukrainians were not giving up, the world decided to help. Yes, the world helped Ukraine. After 8 years of the war. 8 years, and no one batted an eye.
Russia committed and keeps committing war crimes. Russians kill people, hit cafés, houses, hospitals, and schools with universities. In Mariupol, which is temporarily occupied by russia, the approximate number of killed people reaches 100 000. It’s hard to tell for sure, because russians occupied the city and made their best to cover the evidence of their war crimes. So basically, they got rid of many bodies, and now are rebuilding the city to say that they are such good people to help poor citizens.
And it’s only one city. In Ukraine, there are dozens of them.
Last winter, Ukraine was mainly without electricity. Russians hit power stations, so Ukrainians didn’t have electricity, water, heating. But once again, no one batted an eye.
Russians hit the dam, and created the flood, which killed people, animals, and destroyed the ecosystem and people’s houses. No one batted an eye. Before the hit, russians said they would do that, but the world ignored it. And then russians did that, what a surprise.
Ukrainians live with the thought that russia can hit them with a nuclear bomb. The government gives them instructions on what to do in this case. Can you imagine? Now people are getting ready for the winter of blackouts, because russia will hit power stations again. Because that’s what russia does – terror.
And still. Ukrainians are called Nazi for hating russians. Ukrainians are hated for still living. Ukrainians are told to just stop fighting, even though the second Ukrainians stop fighting, russia destroys them.
And now, when People, who support Palestine, compare Palestine and Ukraine, saying that Ukraine doesn’t deserve help and to live in general.
I can understand, that you are desperate. I can understand, that Palestine people are dying and crying for help. But I don’t, can’t, and won’t understand how you can support Palestine and hate Israel, while hating Ukraine, diminishing the genocide in their country, and defending russians.
That’s disgusting. Ukrainians are fucking dying, and you hate them for not dying quicker, so Palestine can get more help.
But Ukraine is not an enemy to Palestine. Ukraine wants to survive, just like Palestine. But why Ukrainians have to read, hear all this shit about them?
Here’s a thing – you can and should support Palestine without dragging Ukraine in. Seriously, how is it Ukraine’s fault that the world doesn’t provide the needed help to Palestine? What should Ukrainians so in this case? Stop fighting? Give all weapons to Palestine? I repeat, Ukraine is in the war against countries with one of the biggest army. Ukraine is fighting against the country that has been starting wars all the time and doesn’t have any morals or war rules.
Maybe instead of shitting on Ukraine, you can finally see that russia is still killing Ukrainians, and it’s just not fair to hate Ukrainians just because they want to survive.
Maybe if you are so about principles, you should revaluate your words about Ukraine and Palestine, and understand that you can’t say “don’t support both Palestine and Israel, because this way you support the aggressor” and then support russians or stay silent about Ukraine.
Again, that’s hypocritical.
You think if russia supported Palestine at some UN voting, russians are good guys here? Russians and russia don’t give a shit about them. Yes, that’s harsh, but that’s true. And believe me, at some point they would do the same to the Palestinians. Russians hate everyone who is different from them. And even minorities in russia say that “pure-blood russians” hated them and harassed, even if said minorities have russian passport.
The point of this post is not to say you to stop supporting Palestine. No, of course not. I want you to understand that it’s unfair to shit on Ukraine and support Palestine at the same time. You can’t spread information about Palestine by comparing their experience to Ukraine or saying that Ukraine suffers not enough.
Yes, Ukrainians can be mainly white, but it doesn’t mean that they fucking deserve to die. Why do you put the blame for racism on Ukraine? How is it their fault?
That’s not fair. That’s disgusting and cruel.
No one should go through this. You know, it won’t kill to have some sympathy towards Ukrainians.
You can and should support both countries, you know.
Free Palestine
Слава Україні.

Man PinkNews really can't stay away from Jo for too long lol, they're back at it again with more slander, this time with a supposed like of a pretty offensive tweet. And as always people are eating it all up.
Now I went to check and that supposed like wasn't there which makes me think it's fake(either that or much like few years ago when she liked and then unliked that one tweet-I forget what was it about, and if her like was real then it could be the same case again, an acidental like).
But like, I really don't get these people...I get it, they hate her, but why make up stuff? Is it cause perhaps normies are waking up and seeing that Jo isn't this evil person the likes of PinkNews and TRAs are trying to paint her as...it's so weird.
Well they can't exactly go and talk about anything wrong she would have actually done, can they, since when you look up what Jo really does with her money it's all charity and paying her taxes. We're still waiting on that list of anti-trans organisations she would have supposedly funded or donated to - you'd think they would line up to claim her patronage, and yet! Crickets! Strange, isn't it?
So they are reduced to this: dishonesty, defamation, and just making shit up when they run out of ideas. Take this week's example of what has the gendiboos shitting themselves: Jo liking a darkly humourous tweet saying "at least the Talibans know what a woman is". Someone tried to paint that as a) original tweeter was supporting the Talibans (yes, in this era where people can just say "kill yourself" to a celebrity over them claiming to like raisins); b) JKR herself implicitly supports the Talibans by proxy because she liked the tweet. Now, the person who said that claims to have received a cease and desist order. Gee, why would that ever happen??
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
… Yeah, i guess Jo's a little sensitive about that particular brand of defamation of her character. It's almost like, unlike these bozos, she actually cares about hate crimes against women.
Honestly i wish she'd actually take them to court, just once. She would absolutely wipe the floor with them and that would set the record straight for any more who wants to try her. And i'm not even saying that with her sake in mind tbh.
But for the sake of the ACTUAL WOMEN IN THE MIDDLE EAST SUFFERING THROUGH ISLAMIC REGIMES RIGHT THE FUCK NOW.
Like hey!! guys, gals and nonbinary pals! Maybe… just maybe?? we shouldn't use victims of horrible religious tyranny as pawns in some stupid gender wars?? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I know we're all convinced in our heart of hearts that JK Rowling is a big bad meanie, but maybe we could act like the better people we pretend to be for once and treat this topic with the seriousness it warrants?? ufuckingwu!
And since i had the unpleasant surprise to see that in the tag this morning: same thing with Ukraine. No, JK Rowling is not friend with Putin, she has actually helped Ukrainian refugees since the start of the war, and the fucking Harry Potter store being maybe still up in Moscow on Google Maps is the last of Ukraine's problems even if she had the actual power to shut it down (assuming GM's infos are even actualised).
Like, i can sort of laugh it out when these idiots make up bullshit about the Goblins being antisemitic caricatures. (Except, it's not actually funny, not when you take two seconds to think about the implications that a whole generation of people apparently think that this is what antisemitism is, OR, care so little about antisemitism that they are happy to pretend that this is it.) It's a whole 'nother business to pick victims of current wars and religious extremism and make up a story about how it's all some writer you don't like's fault. Those are real people ffs. Whom JKR is tangibly helping. What the fuck is Pink News doing for them, hmm? Not even showing them an OUNCE of decency and respect, that's what.
Anyways, apologies for this outburst. To answer your question : why do they do it? Hatred. Hatred is the point. It goes nowhere deeper than this i'm afraid.
