I just watched that clip on twitter of Philza talking about how the qsmp was amazing and how it made him feel valued and etc, etc. I go in them comments and I’m suddenly flooded with memories of being a dsmp fan. People in there talking about how all the smaller creators weren’t valued and I rememberrrrr.
Being a fan of anyone who wasn’t the bigger cc (even then) was hard. I was a Ponk fan (his lore was soooo fucking good (love is dead)) but the way I found out about his lore was so complicated. It was through a TikTok and having to go watch ALL his streams to figure out wtf was going on. I also really like Eret and Foolish lore but that shit was hard to find out. To this day we don’t know what the fuck was going on with those two and how their gods and they knew each other from the past and blah blah blah. Imma not even touch on how Nicki, Puffy, and Hannah were treated. But it sucked to be a fan of smaller creators on the dsmp.
All this to sayyyyy. Ponk is African and speaks fluently in Zulu. I’m manifesting that African creators that speak Zulu get put on the Qsmp so Ponk can get the lore and the love he fucking deservessssss
Manifesting. Manifesting. Manifesting! 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽

mcyt physically disabled week day two: sign language | deafness/HoH
i did say i’d try to do at least a few days of this week! i guess this kinda counts for both prompts, since tallulah is canonically HoH? i think of her as a bimodal bilingual, or someone who speaks vocally and gesturally, so here’s a small drawing of two sign language greetings, in LSM and BSL! i just couldn’t decide which one to go with haha

QSMP LANGUAGE DAY
It will be in March 3rd‼️‼️
Since this weekend there's still the strike so not everyone will be online, so moving it to next weekend!
What is "QSMP Language Day"?
It will be a day here on qsmpblr that everyone will speak their native languages and, those who speak english by default, try and speak other languages they're learning and get some help as well!
The goal is to make everyone feel more comfortable speaking their mother tongue here on our hellsite and even find other peers that speak the same language as we do and we never knew about!
If it all goes right and we enjoy it, we could have it happen more often, even weekly if so, to also make qsmpblr a little bit less english-centric and maybe even rope some non-english speakers in here
The translator use is not only recommended but also actively cheered upon!! You can use Apple's in-built translator, you can use Ok Google's in-built translator, you can go copy text it in translator, or download a browser extension if you use desktop!! Everything is allowed for your better understanding
So everyone!! Prepare! Spread the word! Cram some duolingo lessons more!!
Let's all be ready for March 3rd!!!

Qsmp ended but let's keep exchanging culture and language
I think it would be nice if we kept doing it even if we don't have the ccs anymore to be the voices of those exchanges. We could share expressions, untranslatable words or just little words we think are nice. You can also share some culture detail or facts about your country or language.
So, I will start with some of my favorites things in brazilian portuguese.
Untranslatable word
Cafuné - The act of brushing someone's hair tenderly with your fingers.
Anteontem - This one is not very exciting but I found funny that english doesn't have anything similar. It means the day before yesterday.
Expression
While we have a verb that translated to "give birth" (parir), we use "dar à luz" a lot too, the literal translation of this expression is "to give light".
"Amigo da onça" translated to "friend of the jaguar", we use to call someone that fakes to be a friend just to betrayed the person or use them.
Word I just like
Humming birds in portuguese are called beija-flor(flower kisser)
Fun Fact
Although tapioca and cassava are pretty popular in Asia, they are originally brazilian.
One of the most popular foods in a brazilian barbecue is chicken hearts, usually served in a skewer

I really hope the qsmp members get together for another smp or something. Don't need it to be crazy lore wise like the qsmp was, especially bc of the work ethics and business aspect, but just hanging out and doing their own thing? Bantering, solving puzzles? Exchanging knowledge of their countries, folklore, culture food language, ohhh man I really want that back SO BADLY

I know a lot of people on qsmpblr use Tumblr mobile, but if you do use browser Tumblr then I would recommend the Simple Translate extension. Because Tumblr doesn't have built in translation like Twitter, there's less fans posting in their native language, instead most people just use English.
Simple Translate is an extension that allows you to translate text that you highlight into a target language. (It uses Google Translate API, but so does Twitter so the translation quality is pretty much the same).
Firefox Extension | Chrome Extension
Tumblr media
When you highlight text in another language, a translate icon appears, when you click on it a panel containing the translation of the text appears.
Tumblr media
You can also change the settings of the extension so that the translation panel automatically appears when you highlight text in another language.
Tumblr media
Here's some more examples using the official QSMP Twitter accounts, you do not need to change the settings of the extension to translate from different languages into your target language.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(All of these match the translations given when using the "translate bio" button on Twitter directly.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You can also access a translation box using the icon in the toolbar, any text you enter can be translated to the language selected in the drop-down menu (meaning you don't need to open a new tab to use Google Translate).
Some settings explanation and other stuff under the cut. Not super important but I figured I'd add it anyways.
Tumblr media
There is an option to use DeepL API as opposed to Google Translate (it's another translation tool, there is free access to the API with a limit of 500,000 characters/month, and a pro version for unlimited access).
Whatever the target language is set as is what text you highlight will be translated into. There is another option for a second target language, I'll explain that further down.
Tumblr media
This option changes how you view the translation panel, the first option (default) has the icon appear when you highlight text (as seen in the first image of the post), the second option has the translation panel appear automatically when you highlight text, and the for third option the panel and icon won't automatically appear, but can still be accessed by right-clicking the highlighted text and selecting "translate selected text".
The checkbox below these options means that if the text you're highlighting is already in your target language, the translation icon and panel will not appear, it can again still be accessed by right-clicking what you've highlighted and selecting translate.
Tumblr media
This option appears twice, in both the Web-page section (for translating selected text) and the Toolbar Popup section (for the translation box in the toolbar popup).
The web page option, when toggled on, means that when you select text that is in your target language, the translation panel will translate into the second target language that has been selected. If the checkbox for "do not display if translation is not required" is toggled on, you can only view the translation from Target -> 2nd Target by right-clicking to translate selected text.
The toolbar popup version of this option is used to automatically switch the language in the toolbar translation box when you input something in your main target. (ie. second target set to French means that when you input English text in the translation box it will switch the translation setting from "(detect language) -> English" to "English -> French").
There are also settings to change the style and size of the translation button and panel.
Side note: Mixed language messages (not containing your target language) will only translate one of the languages, you can work around this by highlighting the different languages separately.
Links again if you don't want to scroll all the way back up

1 year anniversary, yay! Here’s some QSMP language journeys!
-Foolish, with little affinity for language learning, sticking to learning Spanish going on for his second year. He has been getting so good and it’s inspiring to people who struggle to learn a language.
-Roier’s insistence on Speaking Spanish has always inspired people to speak it around him or speak a non-English native languages. He’s maybe been the biggest push for language diversity in the server.
-Bagi and Baghera were both insecure about their English and with practice they’ve both become so much more confident speaking English even if it isn’t perfect. Also Baghera picking up a bit of Spanish.
-Cellbit went from speaking Portunhol to fully speaking Spanish in months to the point where he can play games confidently with Spanish speaking viewers
-special shout out to Cellbit and Roier both for speaking their own languages to each other and have gotten to the point in both their language learning journeys that they can speak either language and a mix of both and have fun even away from a translator.
-Tina speaking a language that is her’s but she lost in a very public place in front of thousands of native speakers and getting comfortable speaking both of her languages with them.

Hugo, two hours after joining QSMP, being so immersed in the qlobal translator's existence that he tried to use it irl to thank his McDonald's deliveryperson
Hugo: Ich hab...
(translation: I just... I just said "dankeschön" ("thank you" in German) to the deliveryperson because I thought—I'm so used to speaking German, because it's automatically translated in QSMP, that I thought that it would be automatically translated to my deliveryperson. Bro!
[cut] Bro that—I'm gonna explain it again for a sec. So I live in Madeira. And they don't speak German here. Bro, a deliveryperson comes here, I said "hello", like, at that point I still knew okay, English. And brother suddenly they give me a bag and I say "danke!" Because I—because with QSMP I thought it would be automatically translated. I—bro, that's just, that just fully triggers your brain.)

I want to rant about tubbos rp style. I often get annoyed by people giggling about -100 rp points because LISTEN!! This style is UNIQUE and SO COOL!! Everyone loves phils 4th wall breaks why cant tubbo have that?
Theres rules to the universe like "federatoin buildings are protected" and "the mob cap is this number" and "this entity is omnipresent and much too powerful". But tubbo finds a way to challenge all of that and it works!! He breaks the federation protection, he manipulates mob caps, he tells you the stats of essentially god and the exact steps to take it down.
He sees through and into everything. You are just a number of totems and armour durability to him. Creative mode is just another problem to solve. Leveling millions of blocks is a matter of minutes to him and hell still complain about efficiency.
The way he speaks is like he's tearing apart the threads of your reality. He asks you what the guts of god look like and two minutes later hes holding them and gods dead body is at his feet.
Of course admins have to blind him a little and pomme has to tell him off in brackets. Hes insane (synonymous to cool, epic, awesome, outstanding, one-of-a-kind, never before seen, admirable, showstopping).
