This Amethyst cross was a gift to Queen Mary in 1911 when she and King George embarked on a voyage of India. The cross was presented by the Dowager Queen Alexandra who would have been in mourning for King Edward.

“The splendid purple dress of Queen Alexandra of the United Kingdom, exhibited at the Fashion Museum in Bath, is truly stunning. Its elegance is immediately reminiscent of the iconic costumes in the film Titanic.” - Text & Image Submitted by cenacevedo15

I found Alexandra's skincare routine (!!!), which she shared with Infanta Eulalia of Spain in a letter from 1897.
She also wrote to Infanta Eulalia of Spain who had asked her a personal question. After apologising for the long-delayed reply, she assured Eulalie; "do not for one moment imagine that I was annoyed by yr question - on the contrary I was very much flattered that you shld think poor old me & my complexion good. I cld hardly help laughing though when you asked what I did for it, or whom I had seen about it!!! I have never seen anybody or done anything for it - all I ever do is to wash every night in warm water & soap my face with unscented soap called Cameo & always put cold cream on after to keep it soft. Voila tout - and I strongly advise you not to try or consult any specialist for the skin, as they very often spoil the complexion instead of improving it, and you, who have such a pretty, fresh face & white skin really do not require anything to improve it, beyond these simple remedies I have mentioned."

”After it was all over, looking into the beddroom, Lady Macclesfield saw Alix and Bertie weeping together on the bed. Bertie's devotion and tenderness towards his wife was touching to behold.” The birth of Albert Victor on January 8th 1864 described in
Bertie: A life of Edward VII
And from the moment Albert Victor, referred as Eddy, was born, he would forever be adored by his young mother. Just as he adored her.
”From the time her first-born [Prince Albert Victor]'s legs were strong enough to carry him any distance she [Queen Alexandra] liked to go for long walks alone with him at Sandrigham, and as soon as he was big enough, he would take her arm or put his arm round her waist. [...] The eldest himself perhaps the best summed up the relationship with his mother in his own words, to one of those of looked after him when young. 'Mama is so nice', said he. 'She's fond of everything I like. There's nobody like mama.'”
Alexandra: Edward VII’s Unpredictable Queen, E.E.P Tisdall
When Eddy tragically passed away at the age of 28 in 1892 it was devastating for Alexandra and she was never to get over losing him, once saying, "I have buried my angel and with him my happiness."

"'Several of us went together with my mother [Empress Maria Feodorovna] and Aunt Alix [Princess Alexandra of Wales]. That afternoon my mother wore a big hat, in broad brim trimmed with very bright red cherries…' The Empress and her sister stopped to look at a chimpanzee. The ape liked the look of the cherries. He pushed his arms through the bars and snatched at the hat, but an elastic held it secure to the Empress's head. The ape yelled and pulled harder. The Empress screamed and pulled in her turn. The Princess of Wales seized her by the waist and began pulling in her turn. In the end, the chimpanzee, deciding that a handful of cherries was hardly worth such a lot of trouble, let go [of] the hat so violently that the elastic snapped, the hat flew off the Empress's head and settled in the cap of a passer by."
