Queen Mary of Teck and the Tanks
Jul 7 1917 At the Erin, France, Tankodrome, war photographer Ernest Brooks takes these pictures of Queen Mary of Teck inspects British Mark IV Tanks at the Tank Corps Central Stores and Workshops.
As the wife of King George V, Mary of Teck was Queen of the United Kingdom, Empress of India and the British Dominions from 1910 until 1936 when King George died.

Seeing that small video of the Queen with Queen Mary is just so insane to me for some odd reason lol. Like the Queen remembers speaking and having a relationship with someone who was born in 1867. Like it reminds me of how Queen Victoria’s granddaughter literally lived until 1981.
It is kinda amazing to think about even just beyond her family but just the range of people that she has met. What I think makes those clips feel a little shocking in a way is that they're in color. Many of the clips that we have of Queen Mary are in black and white so seeing her and Lizzy in those vibrant colors is just not what we're used to. I didn't know that about one of Queen Victoria's grand children but wow!

My favourite assumption was that George was a martinet of a husband who never let Mary do anything and his word was law. When actually he was probably the little spoon when they cuddled. He was Mary’s bitch.
