Deeply important. When purity-consciousness overwhelms a movement, it often ends up doing its enemies work for it. Direct link to thread below, above images screenshotted for posterity:

Here’s the thing about LGBT+ vs. Queer.
I’m ace, nonbinary, and demiromantic. With LGBT+ I’m included in the plus. And I’m happy to be included! Indeed, folks pointedly using LGBT without the plus makes my hackles raise.
But. I am sick of being in the fucking plus sign like an afterthought.
And no, adding more to the alphabet soup doesn’t help that feeling. There’s a limit to what human brains can cram in. I don’t think it’s reasonable to make folks say an increasingly long acronym every time they mention the community. I appreciate the effort, but you’re always going to either leave someone out or cram them into the miscellaneous field the plus sign represents.
With Queer I’m just there, alongside my queer siblings. The details may be different, but I’m just as queer as a cis allo gay man or a trans allo straight woman or a genderfuck individual.
We already tried to meet folks who don’t like queer as a word halfway with MOGAI. Marginalized Orientations, Gender Alignment, and Intersex. It’s inclusive without using the Dreaded Q-Word. Surely, if the objection was to “queer” as a Terribly Traumatizing Word (just like, oh, every other word used for us: “gay” was the slur of choice where I was growing up), MOGAI would be the perfect solution, yes?
And yet, that was thrown back into our faces and turned into an insult. So, at that point, I said fuck it and fuck you. I’m queer, and if its inclusivity makes you mad, good.

Me: "We haven't met Delirium yet, and I'm excited, because Tori Amos is a perfect inspiration for... anyone."
Friend:
"I like the implication that Neil Gaiman is now GOING to find an actress specifically to piss this guy off to play Delirium."

If anyone sees this garbage take around please feel free to share this Twitter thread.
“In 1000 years when archaeologists dig up your skeleton, they’ll know what sex you REALLY were!”
Bullshit.
#archaeology 🧵 (1/7)
Most burials will never be excavated by archaeologists. In the U.S., the policy is to leave burials alone, unless they are in imminent danger of destruction. (2/7)
The majority of burials that are excavated by archaeologists contain only partial remains, due to soil conditions or previous disturbance. In most such cases, no sex determination is possible (3/7)
Human remains are sexed on a scale, not a binary: male, probably male, indeterminate, probably female, female. A significant percentage of adult human skeletons have mixed or indeterminate traits. (4/7)
Sex is not gender, and archaeology is getting better about recognizing the colonial origins of the rigid sex binary. Many cultures historically have recognized more than 2 sexes or genders. (5/7)
In most cases, archaeologists are more concerned with the presence or absence of human remains than in determining sex characteristics. This is your preoccupation, not ours. (6/7)
In conclusion, your premise is based on a severely limited understanding of what archaeologists do. Stop trying to co-opt us into your transphobic, anti-science nonsense. (7/7)
It is also worth saying that what people 1000 years from now think about you based on your remains has no bearing on your life or who you are as a person. We are all here just trying to live and be happy. (8/7)

So I reported this asshole and IP blocked them, for their intense and blatant antisemitism, but I'm screenshotting and posting this ask because it's a perfect example of what I talked about here: [Link] on my other blog.
I am really open about being an atheist. I am of course really open about being Jewish. I frequently talk about the two in conjuction, and when I talk about Christian cultural hegemony in atheist spaces and antisemitism in atheist spaces, I am talking as a Jewish atheist. But the first thing any gentile atheist who doesn't want to think about antisemitism and Christian cultural hegemony does, is erase my atheism and paint me as the outsider religious person attacking atheists.
And the same thing happens when queer Jews bring up antisemitism in the queer community. Our queerness is erased, and it's "Oh the Jews are such bigots, attacking queer people!" Every time. Intracommunity discussions of antisemitism in communities we belong to, over and over are shut down by gentile members of those communities, painting us as outsiders and interlopers trying to atrack the community. Thank you, Nonny, for providing a perfect example.

I don't care how much you reblog ace positivity posts if you don't learn to recognize and call out every form of radical feminism in queer spaces. My community was decimated and our support systems destroyed because of this shit. Both we and the aromantic community have still barely recovered. Many of us won't feel safe in queer spaces ever again. And now I see the same vile shit now attacking trans mascs. Slapping "TERFs DNI" on your bio is worth fuck all if you're fine with keeping the door wide open to the same scumbaggery wearing different hats. If you aren't also dedicated to stamping out this culture of oppression Olympics, of trying to find acceptable targets by conflating individuals with oppressive systems, and making social justice into a cudgel to beat people into submission with, we're always going to be vulnerable to self-righteous bottom-feeders out only to validate their own trauma by hurting anyone within reach.

This was originally a comment I made on this post but fuck it, it’s getting its own post because this site’s teeming with shit idiot brain fungus.
I’m the sex-repulsed asexual (and romance-repulsed aromantic) people claim to be protecting when they say Pride shouldn’t be kinky or racy and should instead be Family-Friendly™ and “safe for aces and sex-repulsed people.” I’m not the kinky asexual, of which there are many thousands, or the sex-favorable asexual, of which there are also many thousands. I’m the stereotypical libidoless, “genitals are icky,” frantically-click-way-from-porn asexual who’s never so much as masturbated (or kissed!).
I want kinky, sexy, degenerate Pride. I want to get out there with my fellow queers and make respectable cishet society mad. I don’t want to win over conservatives; I want to scare them. I feel more kinship and would always rather hang with a bunch of kinksters in the sluttiest of kink gear than with any of you dumbshit assimilationist Pride police.
Where do y’all draw the line, anyway? Is my Turbo Virgin™ goth ass gonna get caught up in your sanitization sweeps because my leather, corsets, chains, stripper boots, and huge ornamental vinyl chokers I bought from a guy who makes bondage jewelry are too suggestive? I also love having my tits out. I’ve thought of getting nipple jewelry. Is that gonna be a problem? Am I too sexy in my sexlessness?
If you’re serious about competing needs, organize kiddie Pride events. Do things expressly geared toward minors or people who really can’t abide seeing sexual stuff. These are good things to do. But Pride is a protest. No one gets to demand that queers tone it down and make our show of force palatable to the straights. You sure as fuck don’t get to pretend you’re doing it to protect asexuals, as if we’re pure, fainting flowers who can’t handle seeing a harness or a dildo.
But then, we all know it’s not really about protecting asexuals, sex-repulsed or otherwise. Most of the people pushing to defang Pride aren’t asexuals. Lots of you are exclusionists, who maybe just got quieter about it since 2015 when “proud aphobe” was the cool thing to be. Pridecops are just throwing asexuals under the bus again as justification for their pathetic need to please the cishets and control other people’s expression. (To both lick boots and Dominate, if you will.) Aces (and aros!) who jump on the bandwagon of this time-honored aphobic tactic should be doubly ashamed of themselves.
“Clean” Pride crowd, there’s no difference between you and all the conservative adults who hounded me my whole life about not dressing and acting ~modestly~ enough. Who used to steer me away and cover my eyes whenever they saw someone that looked queer or “slutty.” You’re not queer and you’re not fighting for queers. You’re watery legbutt liberals fighting for marketability. Knock off your shit or get away from our freak club. Tell me or anyone else to cover up and I’ll fucking kill you.

O'Shae Sibley was a young Black man killed at a gas station in Brooklyn while he was vogueing to Beyonce. The community turned out to honor his life by holding a ball.

This is what non-queer people need to understand when we say our existence and survival is not just against many odds, but an act of revolution.
Don't just bear witness, celebrate.
