So... y'all know the person I've been talkin' bout? Well turns out we have basically everything in common. From music to video games to interests we want to get into!
They are so amazing. They are passionate and follow what makes them happy. They are also deeply empathetic and care for everyone around them.
Ugh, I really like them. And anyway we talked and we are now girlfriends 🥰 So anyway, everyone say hey to my darling @nyudreemz 🤗

I keep watching this video over and over and I cry every time. Somthing about every clip of pure, unadulterated queer joy this person could find compiled into a video, backed by a song sung for the gays, by a lesbian about not knowing where you belong. Something about queer joy being fleeting and stronger than liquor becuase we have to grasp it while we can. Something about forgetting where you are and dancing, or laughing, or kissing the person you love entirely uninhibeted. Something about romaticising the small things.

it is my hope and dream that everyone on tumblr can go outside and visit a gay bar or go to a queer event and see that our community is very beautiful and very diverse and that half the internet discourse isn’t real

A small experimental and messy comic about the queer hate to queer pipeline that seems to affect a lot of people, and since it’s pride month and I don’t see a lot of artistic commentary on this…here you go? I’m a baby gay, not even able to legally drink yet and only recently realized my sexuality so I’m sure there’s people who have suffered from being raised in bigotry much longer and much worse and I’m willing for this post to be the place they can share their stories! I’d be honored to hear stories from people like me. Happy pride month!
(Writers Note for page two- I am aware of sexualities that stem from trauma like Caedsexual exist and are 100% valid! I am referring to the belief that ALL under the LGBTQ+ umbrella are sick and are just ‘confused victims of abuse’ in a not so nice sense.)

Banning the star of david from appearing at pride events because it "looks like the flag for Israel" IS antisemitic, discriminatory, and an act of oppression and hate against queer jews.
Yes, the magen david appears on the Israeli flag but unless it is in blue and framed by blue stripes, it is not an Israeli flag anymore than the hilal is a symbol for Pakistan.

Kolja - Arthur Japin
Translation: That's what interests me, where exactly is our unhappiness born, our unsatisfaction with who we are? That didn't exist in ourselves. A child in their early years is unaware of any shortcomings. That idea does not exist until another person confronts us with the fact that we are not like them. That awakening, sometime in your adolescence, of the realization that you cannot become like everyone else, that you lack something, that you lack what it takes to participate in life on an equal footing...

Happy Pride Month! It’s my first year celebrating and I decided I wanted to make an asexual cake! With the help of my extremely perfectionist mum, I think we managed to pull it off! I hope ya’ll are having an awesome pride month, whether you’re out, in the closet or somewhere in between 🏳️‍🌈

As a reminder that good exists out there, a coworker recently confessed to me that he found out his child is questioning their identity (kid's gender redacted for this post). The kid is keeping it from him, so he can't say anything to them or show that he knows, but he's doing his best to get mentally prepared and educated so that he'll be ready whenever his kid does feel comfortable enough come to him.
For context, this guy is a big, bulky middle aged dude who loves sports and typical outdoor "manly" activities. As his coworker and friend, I know he's a kind and sweet teddy bear of a person, but his kid probably views him as a stern, authoritarian figure, the way most teenagers view their parents. His family lives in a conservative area, so I'm sure between that, their dad's looks and interests, and the fact that their dad is a Figure of Authority, the kid is worried that they won't be accepted.
But you know what? When he found out about his kid, the first thing he did was reach out to his closest queer friend and ask for resources for parents of questioning children. His biggest fears are that his kid will be bullied or discriminated against and won't feel comfortable enough to be themself. His second action was to find himself a mentor in another parent who went the same situation (kid coming out in a conservative town). The other person is preparing him for some of the struggles his kid may face and the fights he may need to take on as a parent to make sure his kid is safe and treated well.
Something I want to emphasize for people focused on language as the primary method of allyship is that when we spoke, he used some outdated terms and thoughts about gender and sexuality. That does not make him bad. These were the terms and thinking used about questioning teenagers when he was growing up and he never needed to learn more current ones. But now that he does have that need, he's throwing himself in head first because that's his kid and he's darn well going to make sure that his kid feels welcomed and has a safe place to be themselves even if they never come out to him.
